- There is only one Cleetus McFarland, and when he got his hands on an IP-built Supra equipped with the mighty 2JZ engine, there was only one way it was going to go -- to the moon!
If you missed the first two videos from Cleetus, check them out here:

Then sit back and crack open a cold Mt. Dew while you dive into this engine teardown video featuring Joe Irwin from Fast Forward Race Engines and Matt Watts from Induction Performance. The guys take apart the 2JZ (RIP) and show you exactly what happened and why.
Ready to get this unit back in action!
CLEET WHAT YOU DOOOO~!!! HAHAHAHAHA #RATRODSUPRA
No LS Swap??
@@TacoBell_Senpaino bro he's not allowed to he will be hunted 😂😂
Should have put that money into a Noonan race engine for mullet.💲💲💲🤔
What I wonder is how hard had it been abused before he ever got ahold of it, because seems he was talking oil pressure low right from the start.
Don't get me wrong, because he hammered the crap outta of her, but who was banging off the limiter with the knob twisted to the maximum boost before he even knew it had a max kill number.
Cause that severe number of cracks around every head bolt on both sides, sounds to be a case of long term extended boost pushing on the head.
On the number 5 slug was there any deflection in the rod itself to help push the piston into the angle of the crack cylinder wall I wonder..
Yet anti lag used excessively would generate a high combustion temperature, but wouldn't this show on the EGT's logged.
Are did it not have capabilities of recording history of any type, are even set up with sensors for such things.
Which making decent power as it was capable of achieving, one would've thought these things would have been a mandatory requirement since it wasn't a budget build.
Just thinking outloud is all, and not seeing what all was removed before it was placed on the stand.
Just curious about such things

Cleetus: "Hold my Mountain Dew."
That’s what happens when u keep it in the red every time he’s changing gear. That’s what happens when Americans drive stick
2 things cleet is good at blowing up: engines and UA-cam channels
Dude also can drive the fk out of anything with an engine as well lol.
@@CarsCatAlienshe’s a driver…

I spent many years as an NDT inspector (non destructive testing) Cleetus works the other end of the spectrum (destructive testing) there are people who actually have that job in the workforce testing the durability or hammers and air tools etc. Cleetus tests automotive parts for durability and to the point of failure and he is a master of his craft and has now ventured in the Aviation and Watercraft industry as well. As Dad used to say "that boy could f-up a wooden watch".
I guess he proved when and why you need an oil cooler and a dry sump
That saying makes no sense. We always say "He could fuck up a ball bearing in a cotton patch".
And it works, people don't want to see success, these failures of kit drive content.
This video would not exist if he did not
@@oldscratch3535 they both sound dumb
The Appalachian saying I always heard was, "That boy could tear up an anvil"
Solid teardown autopsy guys. No crazy editing , no speaking without thinking - no sensationalism , everything by the book. As a retired qualified diesel mechanic i am impressed by your knowledge , commentary , and , ...erm bedside manner . Could drop a few F-bombs to make it 107% authentic . Subscribed .

Agreed, a very informative video. My only issue, I kept waiting for them to throw the old part across the shop into the scrap box! 👍😉
Hmm what about 108?
17:51 such a positive change to hear praise for the previous motor builder.
Almost a shame to replace all that stuff (except piston 5 of course 😂)
yer i thought the same thing
I also thought, hey, nice they aren't just shitting all over the previous builder. Appreciation for a dated, but solid build.
Yep, good guys for sure. Subscribed just now because of this.
Well, you could almost guarantee the rebuilt mill doesn’t get destroyed again in short order by doing 2 things: 1) don’t let Cleetus within 10 feet of it and 2) don’t let Jackstand enter the same zip code. 🤣🤣
Those head bolt showed signs of all the boost. How that head never exploded and launched into orbit was a miracle. Credit to the previous engine builders, they definitely did a great job.
Appreciate how down to earth you guys come across yet still detailed🤙🏻 Got a new fan here!
Excellent post-mortum guys. Just facts, no nonsense.
Still impressive how much power they can make with a 2jz.
it’s what happens when you severely overbuild an engine from factory. but yeah still impressive
I'm thinking machining the o-ring groove and then not using it isn't ideal since it's taking away a good bit of meat for the head gasket to hold onto.
If you rebuild that thing for Cleet, you need to make it dry sump with about a 5 gallon oil tank and giant oil cooler
and a depleted uranium block
That won't do any good there is no engine strong enough to take his foot.......none

“Smell’s like Cleetus dropped by”
Great info detailing the build & damage whilst performing the breakdown….✨
I love watching places like this that have the right skills to do engines as they drop knowledge bombs all the time
Cool to see that the 2JZ has the little oil squirters like a 4G63. Never seen the inside of a 2JZ before because we didn't get 'em up here in Canuckistan.
A lot of Toyota engines have those. Its one reason they last so long. Even my little 4 banger in my Tacoma has them.
Most factory turbo engines have them, all my old Volvos and Saabs have oil squirters.
@@NorwayVFXEven my 1.8 Golf Gti from -87 have oil squirter
If only LinusTechTips could review something this objectively.
Good stuff. That block would make a nice table!
damnit Garrett broke everything on the block without blowing it apart LMFAO
Subbed from Cleetus channel. Nice job guys. You’re very brave showcasing your product with him. 💯🙏🏻👍🏻🏆
Please update us on the new engine being built! We would love to see it step by step
Cleetus crew checking in, Subscribed. Hell yeh brother!!! 😁
I do not think Garret was completely at fault. Induction said they didn't build this 2j. With the amount of cracking in block, I think this engine was long due to fail over the time it was run. Look at pfi with freedom civic. Crack found in block, and run pass after pass with out knowing. Same situation here til failure! I hope to God the ratrod supra does not get a Honda engine. I vote not your fault cleet or induction. Keep posting good stuff. Thank you greatly! Take care everyone!
Not his fault? After two hours of constant pulls using the anti lag? Behave.
Always good to see Handsome Matt on camera
What a nice environment for a breakdown!
Great video! Makes me want to tear mine apart! It’s been a while since I’ve done one.
Looks like a fun job! 🙏🏼
"These 2JZ are pretty much industrictable" cleeter said "Hold my dew..."
Coolant with the oil, but we all knew what ya ment.
Yeah, that cleetus fella really rips on his rigs!! Glad to find your engine teardown video of the 2j!! Look forward to more content!!
"The highest level of boost that the engine and setup is capable of making, yea we'll go ahead and run that continuously on as many back to back runs as we can"

@cleetus get that "Outa sight guarantee"....guaranteed till your outa my sight....he could tear up an anvil with a rubber mallet...😂😂
Hi. I do not obviously know either of you. Thanks for the introduction.
"Smells like Cleetus was here..." Bwahaha!
Build it to the max and say a prayer because Cooper might tip-toe around with his 2j but i promise Cleetus isn't scared and we're all going to get to see this 2jz live its Best/Hard life.
Cooper doesn’t have f you money like Cleeter does.
Dudes right foot breaks everything LOL
Errol at TPS did a good job with that block 🎉
I did the same thing on an old 22re b lock, split the cylinder wall in number 2. Check the bore size too, I bet it was overbored.
Flava Flav called and he wants his chain back! 😜👌
enjoyable breakdown, thanks for sharing !! Matt where's my quote lol I am getting the bug again lol.
"Smells like Cleetus has been here." Cleeter needs to make that into a shirt. 😅
With an engine on an engine stand and parts and tools strewn about 🤣
😂 before watching this video ima say this that motor was a trooper 30 minutes on the chip an countless back to back pulls
If nothing else, Cleetus is good for businesses that build engines.
Lol
Those sketchers are my fav comfort shoe
This channel is fixing to grow 😊
JackStand and Cleet can find the weakness in any engine....LOL
26:11 weld that crack up and send her back out! 😂
hell that looks good for Cleetus, i was half expecting loose parts.
Good luck with building an engine that Cletus won't break. Guy is brutal on equipment
By Assembling the O ringed Block with non o ringed head and just adding RTV it was a Ticking Time Bomb with Standard gaskets... It's Built for O rings and copper gaskets...
Y’all make this sound like you just learned engine theory last week
“Smells like Cletus!” The disrespect 😂
This was a good watch and very informative on the 2jz platform 🤝
Cleetus and His 40lb right foot is what happened to it!!
God that was a big finale...cracky crack
Gotta love the old school speed handle
Goodbye 2J block. You are free now.
Hope it’s bullet proof for cleeter 😂. There definitely only one cleetus and he is rough on stuff. But I love watching it
Great video, tons of info here. From an I5 guy to the 2J I totally get it. I try to keep off the boost in the crazy TX heat. Need to add water Meth as well this winter.
Cleetus should come out with a "Burned Engine" cologne 😂
Toasty number 5 . . Super crack🎉. Engines need 123467. 🎉🎉🎉 everything fine
This engine led a *hard* life before he got it. Bad engine build on the trust, breaking every head bolt hole, and who knows what else. Cleetus definitely wasn't easy on it, but this engine was already broken.
A decade with the power this thing had? I think the engine builder did a pretty good job. Cleetus defiently killed it with the costant rolling antilag.
PUT IT IN THE cleetus MUSEUM hahahaa. Add it to the blown block section..
Appreciate the tear down and failure analysis!
Make him purchase all billet and i bet he take better care of them. And maybe one day i can still find one to build so i can experience this awesome engine platform
It would be dope if Cleet convinced Dart to sell him their upcoming 2JZ block!
2j blocks are so beautiful
😂😂😂😂 Cleeter the block beater😂😂😂😂....
McFarland approved 😂😂😂😂😂
I’m not surprised he blow it the way he was red lining that shit to death way to long in the red
If you see copper you're not having a good time
But if you taste copper you're having a great time 😂
" :P Ready to get this unit back in action! " Where is the T-Shirt?!
Cletus fan here just saying 🇺🇸
Get ready for a repeat. You know Cleeter will smoke the new one.
lots of great knowledge here!
Cleeter has the Whistlin Diesel effect on engines 💣 💣 💣
100% there will atleast be 1 dude working for Induction that collects the old used parts to build or repair their own 2jz's or cars their flipping. Even those bearings are almost a complete set to repair a rod knock by just rolling a good bearing in where the failed bearing is found , without any need to remove the engine or take the head off, aslong as the oil sump Pan can be removed
He was a little on the limiter 😂😂😅
To be fair is was put together what did y’all say ten years ago . So it had a few hours on it .
With one Giraffe foot you can blow up anything😂😂
Here from Cleetus
My 2jz is cracked at every stud hole like this and i still rip it at the track 😂
Cleetus will destroy everything he drives so don’t feel bad. Everything is content to him.
These guys know how to blow smoke...
The deck is cracked in between the water jacket and the head bolt holes everywhere lol
Because he was bouncing that thing off 2 step like it owed him money
Not sure how,, but I totally forgot this engine got smoooooked.. I was like where TF is that Supra at ? Quickly my brain showed up and let me know.
Florida man: full send is life
Well, that leaves one vehicle left that he hasnt blown up yet...... A fkn UFO... Maybe 1 day we will see it... One day lol..
That’s good Merch!! Put it on a shirt!!
"Engine in cleetus hands", enough said!!!!! Lol😂
Nice work fellas ✌
All those cracks! Cleetus almost turned that 2J to dust 😅
Cleetus should hold this one for 2 minutes straight on the chip let's see if it'll hold up.
"2JZs are pretty indestructible".
Clearly, the 2JZ hasn't met Cleet yet.
Then they need to build the main caps with dowl pins to keep the caps centered with the crank
Good job fellas
Aside from driving it nicer, cleet, more oil coolers and fans are needed to be thrashing in the Florida summer heat.
Very informative video 👍
So the pistons, rods, and crank didn't fail but the block did. Assuming from alot of heat and antilag. The holes that were cracked out, were they going to the headstud holes?
I'm still skeptical on the "Good Job engine Rebuild".
wasn't the engine spitting water out the tailpipe before cleetus got it
This thread is spot on👌
@@ReelFishyGuy That is your response to a question?
It smells like Cleetus 😂. Poor Cleeter
Great Video!!
