I can tell you right now I'm about to take my CNA skills test at the college and they recommend you use a privacy blanket/bath blanket to provide privacy during this procedure due to the fact that you should not have any part of the body exposed until it's time to wash it you want to limit the amount of exposure of any body parts
Same here that's what they told us in class
This video is 4 years old so it’s probably different now to use a privacy blanket
Rebecca I support your point
@@meganxiquita7326 true and each state does have different requirements
That’s right
I passed my skill here in Washington by watching thise little girl I followed her procedure and I passed ❤
Wad it hard? What skills u got?
Perineal care, position a client who must stay in bed& denture cleaning
Proud of you I’m in Ga about to take my exam
This was a very good video. No extra talking , strait to the point & not an annoying voice. Well done!!!
If you’re working in nursing homes, Don’t forget to lower bed rails. They’re considered a restraint.
Perfect video
@@mirandamacellaro6988 there are no bed rails in nursing homes & rehab facilities because they’re considered a restraint. However, you will find bedrails in homecare & in hospitals.
Best demonstration video ever ❤thank you 😊
I Second your point
As a recent stroke patient this is not how i was þeated,i was treated with dignity and asked if it was ok to continue, also covered between each bed bath ,as a past carer this was really nice to have compassionate nurses and aids .
1, please RAISE the bed to the worker's waist level; 2, please put a privacy blanket on the patient's upper body;
3. ask residents to check the water temperature to see if it's okay for him or her
@@cassiejeilynn996 they said that in the video
This is a very nice video, but as a fellow CNA, I saw some steps that might give her an automatic failure (in California) for these skills such as not changing gloves before fixing the blanket (after doing peri care your gloves is soiled, its a must to change them especially in real life), leaving the resident without putting up both side rails (in this setting this bed have 2 rails because the bed is not up against the wall and it's a must to put them all up before leaving the resident unattended), leaving the call button near the resident before cleaning the supplies (the call light need to be always within reach of the resident in incase of emergency, and not working with a proper hight (always do your proper bodymechanics to protect yourself from harm). Also, as a CNA, you must always communicate with the resident even if you are just going to put away your dirty supplies, just like how you tell the resident "I'll be back, let me just gather my supplies".
Also, the way you wipe/clean the peri is not the most accurate. The steps consist of 5 swipes of wash, 5 swipe of rinse, and a pat dry... The swipes go in order like this; both sides wipe from the bikini line or closeto the opening, then both side labia majora and labia minora. Hopefully this helps
I saw these too. Especially the bed wasnt at a working height. Crazy
I agree, the touching with dirty gloves is just gross and very unsanitary.
@@mightyrizza4744so let me see if I get you right sorry I’m not a CNA but I want to learn you should pass the towel with soap 5 times and each time different towels for a more clean ? And one should clean the sides of the bikini line too like in between tights ?
I remember that washcloth corner technique always confusing me! But why not include raising the bed to hip height? Save your back! Just lower it before leaving the bedside 😊
The way my school teaches is way more sanitized and disciplined. I've got my CNA test tomorrow, I'm pretty confident now
How’d did you do?

Didn’t pat dry the patient. It is important if you wash something you have to dry it.
in georgia we just do 4 & 4 for peri 🤣 . one over chest, up under client, barrier, pat dry. we use the 4 rags to onion peel and wash and rinse.
anyone who knows the chaos of a nursing home as a cna, knows it is nothing like this
What’s it like then
Not like this
@@jessicabendure4249 explain smart ass
@@jessicabendure4249 it’s definitely not like this. We just have to go by this while doing skill check offs plus state test. None of this is done in a nursing home. Not this way anyway
Right
I think this would be more useful if it were done as the CNA performing in front of judges; where they would be interacting with the patient/ explaining the process, indicating that they were turning them etc. Still much appreciated and very informative though! There's not enough videos out there.
This was a great video!! Straight to the point . I would raise bed to working level and not leave the side rail up because it can be considered a restraint.
Thought both rails up was considered a restraint?
@@Jcfootballer1 yeah that is too but if you’re done giving care all Side rails should go down afterwards.
Thank you for mentioning this! My teacher always tells my class "Don't leave the side rails up!" So much that it's stuck in my mind!
Leave it down for those who are competent but if you have a total care person who can't walk I'm leaving it both up
Always CAB and call light ur patient before walking away!! Safety!!!
What does CAB STAND FOR AGAIN
@@lucialight6096 right I have no idea what she is talking about
Great videos.
Question.. during an skills test, the bed has no bed rail... do you pull the client toward you?
Nice video 😍😍😘 your video is so cool, honestly CNA is such a difficult test man , really don’t know what to do but I’m never losing hope
I’ve always believed CNA is not about studying, you need God’s grace to pass

I have a cousin who never studied much, we studied together but she gives most of her time to her phone than studies after writing the CNA test last month she passed and I failed 😣, I asked her how she did it , just found out she got her help from Mr James
Please does anyone know who this Mr James is ? I really need to speak with him I’m frustrated

This is an excellent video on perinatal care. Thank you so much for sharing this video.

And these videos are very helpful
Nice video 🥳. CNA is such a difficult test.really don’t know what to do but I’m never losing hope.
I studied for months and couldn’t pass, I guess passing is a divine blessing.
CNA might seem so tough to pass but studying very hard is a very vital skill to win trust me.

Nice 👍
But In the field we don't follow everything 😓We do what we have to do...
It is totally different.
I’m so stuck. Lord please help me. I can’t afford school. Idk what I’m gonna do for a career. I don’t want to mess with the military, I’m saving for a car, then saving for cna classes. I’m so overwhelmed. I’m watching these videos to see if I’d really be able to get my hands dirty & help people in this way.
Idk if this is for you but go to job corps it’s for age 16-24 they have trades you can learn for free it’s kinda like college you’ll be given a weekly allowance you’ll stay there at the campus. I myself a 19yr old male is going for CNA to try it out. This is a place for people who are stuck Yk no money or want to get a education I recommend you apply or if you want Again there are more trades to pick and choose from to see if it’s for you I hope this help
@@bighardy6819 I’ve heard way to many negative things about the job corps. A lot of males hate it and are surrounded by addicts. Can’t imagine being a female there. But thank you.

Did you do CNA classes after all?
@@carolinerodriguez8098 not yet I just bought a car.
Doll is over exspode, she didn’t raise the bed and when she was finished she didn’t put the rail down.
Is this the way person vue wants it done in Georgia 0ctober 2020
She also didn’t warn the resident when wiping the middle/labia. I was just taught this today in class
wait i thought it was inner to outer, front to back??
Would this be the same procedure for a male patient but in the front wiping upwards?
Yes and no . The skill will still include the cleaning of the back but the front is different because you will have a brief on the patient . So male perineal care includes soiled brief changing . When you change the brief you’ll do the same thing except for the from your gonna clean the tip , shaft , and sides .
Hi, I have a question I am a nurse's assisant in Iran 3 years working in this job can I emigrate?
What I don’t understand is that they don’t clean the pubic area or the area between the groin and the leg. Hartman states that this is one of the steps doing so but in this video; it’s clearly not shown that way. Idk I’m just curious cause I’m taking my cna test in like a week and need to know if it’s necessary to do that. Also this person forgot to put a bath blanket and raise the bed level up
Just a question! If this was a true testing would she have failed for not changing her gloves?
No
I have been watching a lot of these videos to show to my patients family proper way of cleaning and I have yet to see a video focus on glove changing , if you already cleaned the front change your gloves before going to back side
What is the rationale behind this? Why would they need to change gloves going from front to back pericare?
So are you not suppose to change the water when it’s time to rinse?
Very good question
Are you wiping inside the lips or just over?
I noticed that too, that inside should always be wiped.
Had a nurse so rough she tor the skin on my bottom end. So sore for weeks easy does it on old xskin
Before you roll over you are supposed to put one up arm and the other arm across the rail
I was a CNA for 37 years and 2:56 2:58 🎉 4:20 3:21 was the best walk away with noty
Owww good
This video help me too
Is Bed level ok ?
Great job
She didn't remove protective cover under the resident
I thought when we go to the back we hand sanitize and then put gloves on
Wash hands
Passing the CNA test is when you study hard, if you can’t study or you don’t have time for your studies I’d advise you get yourself a help like Mr James
I’ve always believed CNA is not for all but studying, you need God’s grace to pass
I studied for months and couldn’t pass, I guess passing is a blessing
I have my book and mock skills printed I passed my knowledge test and have my skills tomorrow im not nervous but it does help me get to the point she did this in under 10 mins and I’ve only been doing it since Dec it helps alotttt
Ouch the CNA back 😢 body mechanics / raise of bed should be used to prevent CNA injuries
I don't think they can raise it
Where are the body mechanics? Why is the bed so low.
Why must me check the bed?
Several things are wrong but depends on where you are and take the skills. Adjust the bed though. Stop stressing your back.
Why not your bedroom your working level ?
Good jobs
im studying for my exam and wondering if you need to change gloves after washing the front before washing the back side? Also should you cover the patient with a bath blanket to not expose them?
Sure! I would.
You keep the same gloves on. Take them off when you have finished washing the rectum.
what happen to bath blankets to provide privacy and warmth, other than that good video
The bed is low why this is dangerous for the CNA back pain
All using the same bed side table they use for breakfast? :/
I can do anything but changing and bathing 😭 is this the right job for me ?
You can learn :)
Omg in florida would would have failed wash your hands before touching the door
Aren’t u suppose to change gloves when moving from vagina to buttocks? Missouri
Try not to slam patient head into the bar along the way. Put a pillow or cushion on front of the bar. 😂
She’s like “My bad Mrs Smith 😅”

Cuántas cadenetas debo hacer para un gorro de un niño de 4 años (a crochet).
She did not introduce her name and position at first to the resident or patient and did not bring the bed up to her belly button or hip.
Nice one. Next time raise the bed then at the end put down side rail.
They never washed hands and face, when in hospital I never felt clean, God help us!
What is she checking the bed for?
Not a step
raise the bed to your waist level ... avoid bending protect your back at all costs....proper body alignment
Why does she have to dump out the water in the bedside commode? Why could she just dump it down the dirty sink
She didn’t raise the bed
To her height that would hurt her back when she don't do this
The bed was not raised
That's for the video but one of my old friend was working at a place like this and had to give bath and she told me one of her patient was an old guy and when it was his turn to get clean up he was a pervert and talking to her nasty and he come all over her heads and she said they don't pay her enough for that lol🤣
And the doll is over exposed
This seemed like they missed spreading the labia or butt cheeks with the actual last corner 😮
Enter rm introduce yourself, let pt know what going to do then wash hands.
no, you’ll fail if you don’t introduce yourself
Definitely need a new mannequin, one with 2 inch long hair nest, super flappy labia, a little BM smeared all around. Also robotic so it can fight you and yell obscenities the entire time your are trying to provide care. Signed: Retired long term care nurse for over 20 years.
ayo more gloves
She didn’t tell the resident that she was going to place her on her side and she didn’t count to prep her
Prep her to be on her side
She failed along the beginning she didn’t check her wrist band.
WOAH you didn't dry the patient or nothing and put the pad half way like wtf is this😭
2 minutes later turn the light back on as it shit again
didnt do proper glove changes if state was watching it would be a infection control tag
Hello Ashley 👋! How are you doing?
Pinch the glove in the middle then put 2 fingers under glove and pull off then get ride of the gloves in the trashcan then wash hands. Ask if need anything else and give call light.
WHY THE STUDENT CNA LOOKS SO ANGRY LOL IT'S LIKE fuck this job...
I said the same thing
❤❤❤❤❤
Also you didn’t put the rail down!!! ALWAYS put bed rails down!
It's hard work being a cna for 31 years. It tears your body down bc residents have lived their lives already y so many family don't take care of there elderly parents. They would rather put them In nursing home so you have to break your back ppl don't understand how bad your back neck legs are ruined after all those years
She went and touched thr blankets and soap with the same dirty gloves ....kinda gross
she walked off without pulling the rails up
She could have rolled over
When drying she should just tap it.
This is good but she forgot one very important thing ur supposed too raise the bed up let the person know that ur letting the bed up becuz u risk hurting ur back like she’s bending down too clean the person not good.
The CNA exam is very difficult to pass, I can't believe i failed after studying with so many materials😞
Sometimes it doesn't matter how hard you study you also need to pray to God for success

You introduce yourself 1st and ask permission to do the care then provide privacy
Clean to drty, I think !
This video is a little iffy number one that’s not how you roll a patient place one arm over the patient’s abdomen place the opposite arm up curved over the patient’s head, get on the other side where pts hand over abdomen is facing you, grab patient by shoulder and hip and on the counter three roll the patient toward you asking them to hold side rails, number two you need to provide privacy with a bath blanket only exposing as much as needed, and number three you don’t wipe down the center of the labia, separate the labia majora, wipe each side down changing washcloth each stroke.
for me she , failed .
always
knock & introduce yourself first
then always explain to the patient what you're doing.
provide privacy curtain.
do your tasks, then put materials away.
"do nottttt touch the bare table with your used gloves on like she did to move it out of the way....
once materials are away...
ask if resident want curtain open or closed...
ask is there anything else you can get for them...
make sure their bed is at its lowest position...
lower the railsss... helloooo...
make sure call light is by them...
sanitize hands...
chart...
then say "skills complete"
Wait a sec that's not how you do this, So I'm a CNA student and this Perineal Care Steps it a little long to learn myself so I have try it in my class before but I feel I need more watching of this video so I'm watching this Steps but the way the class show me it a little different that's not how you do it in the ending there's some steps that need to be completed????

without discarding the used gloves, you have adjusted the patient in supine position, you touched the client with dirty gloves, you should have discarded the gloves just after finishing the perineal care and perform hand hygiene.
She definitely failed did not wash her hands before giving patient call light and touching blanket
