Biggest part to passing the skills exam is TALKING your way through it... Make sure you communicate with the patient the entire time! Verbal skills are huge... checking to see if they are ok every time you do something new. GREAT video! This is exactly one of the five of my skills I had to perform for the exam - the hardest one and I passed because I talked my way through it seriously! Remember to check the bracelet and date of birth BEFORE starting every skill! The only thing which was different for me was that we weren't taught to change out the gloves in between the changing.
Is all your doing can be done in nursing home according the time? How long does it take for 1 pasient with their weight and health conditions? Theory is perfect, the reality in the field much different because 1 CNA get 7-8 patients in 7 hours/ shift ,
Thanks for these videos! My mother is in hospice and I am her caregiver. She is now bedridden and I have been nervous about bathing her and changing her sheets. After watching these, I feel much more confident in what I need to do to care for her properly! The CNAs that come in to help once a day are amazing (she doesn't want them bathing her). They answer all of my questions and give me tips and advice on what I need to do. Wouldn't be able to survive without them!
I absolutely love how relaxed you are. You explain things in such easy ways to comprehend! I am a PSW student, and I'm watching your videos to prepare for my occupied bed making & perineal care!
You are the absolute best! After all of these incorrect videos all over youtube, yours are the most impressive and the most accurate! Thanks so much!!!
the gloves the sheets are contaminated gloves go to trash and the soonest you remove they go in soil container that's the way I learned to prevent contamination
Watch Myjab I agree at 2:38. She actually made a mistake. With the dirty linens she let it touch the clean ones. Also when she got the fitted sheet roll up under the patient. She didn’t wipe down the mattress. And then she let the clean fitted sheet touch the dirty mattress and the dirty fitted sheet up under the patient. And throw the nasty gloves on the counter. Lots lots of mistake. Do not go by the video. All states are different.
Remember that even if you make a mistake, if you CALL IT OUT and fix it, you’re gonna be okay in your test:) best of luck to all of you and remember that nobody wants to see you fail, being thorough and talking your way through will help you so much in this.
I have viewed this video last year. Being my mother's caretaker, I needed tips on how to care for her at home. I came back to review this video for a refresher, because the CNA Christiana I believe is her name does an amazing job. The CNA training skills video have been a great help.
Watched all of your videos and I’ve passed my CNA state skills exam thank you!!! I only focused on red-cross so when I walked in I felt prepared and confident. Thank you!!! (In CA)
one of the best videos out there CNA centered which is ok but well spoken and explained. Im a first semester RN student and we are learning so many things and this is a great resrouce on bed making.
This video is very helpful giving details on how to change a bed with the patient still in the. I am caring for my mother who is bed bound due to a stroke. Was looking for a video to make sure i have been changing on her bedsheets correctly. I glad I came across this video.
Thanks! this was very helpful I'm in the first semester of nursing school and this is one of the skills we are learning. After watching the video I was able to perform it properly!

@@BeautifulButterfly84in my state you have to have them up when you’re not near the bed or else they can fall. the only time you don’t is if you have someone with you who can act as the rail. also if you leave the room after the task(and i think during) you have to lower the bed so they don’t fall

Also, if the patient is incontinent, you would put a chuck or a bed pad under her. You did a really good job. ♥️👏
I'm starting CNA school soon, but just had a question. Everyone is mentioning the leaving the bed rail down when she left but what qualifies as leaving her side? Can you go to the foot of the bed or other side with it down? I'm sure they'll answer in class but I'm a little nervous!
She is dealing with a dummy, when your dealing with a real person and being called name and swearing at you it's not that easy and she is taking her time when in real life no one has that much time with all the lights going off
Or the residents that either don't stay up when you roll them or push back. Yea getting a 2nd person helps but its still difficult to chamge the bed this perfectly when you're dealing with that especially if they're heavy or dead weight.
😂 the struggle it's real . That's why nursing it's a team work , my lecture preaches that every now and then because she knows it's not easy and she's old school ,I feel blessed with her being my instructor . Working in pares makes it a bit light ❤@@kenaisnowpaw3476
Mom mom just had hip surgery and I'm caring for her at home. She has a triangle foam pillow between her legs. Should I remove the foam pillow before rolling her on her "good" side?
Also you never tuck ends with patient in the bed to avoid foot drop, not enough to loosen sheets around toes as it will pull on toes one way or another
Great tutorial but many times the residents bed us against the wall with no ability for us to go side to side. Please share with us how to change linen when only one side is available. However, I’ve done this already in my jobs
