I feel like the author really struck gold with the head spazzing enemies. There's just something about it that's completely unnerving, like weird indescribable stuff you'd see in an actual fever dream nightmare.
I really wonder if it was inspired by the hospital scene in Jacobs Ladder, where you catch a glimpse of someone with a bag over their head spazzing uncontrollably.

That fact that a 10-13yo made this game is really inspiring to someone who wants to make a game.
I think the reason why the spear is the only weapon capable of doing damage is because it is implied that Addiction is a mirror of David and thus has all the same weapons as David until it came out of the mirror.
So when David picked up the spear, the Addiction doesn't have it, since it "came out of the mirror"
I remember the first time playing this mod with a friend on sven coop and both hearing aphex twin and shitting our pants in excitement. The soundtrack really could not be any better.

Afraid of Monsters got me into AFX.
This game was quite literally the first one I've ever seen Let's Played, by a guy named Skypilot2. He deleted all his videos years ago sadly, but I still remember some of them clear as day.
Finally something to help me ignore my Uni presentation, therefore making sure I fail in my future and continue my Hoeless Life % speedrun. Thank you, mr Afro Yoshi, Happy Halloween!

Probably my favorite horror mod of all time. I would absolutely love to see a fan sequel, or a continuation of David Leatherhoff's journey like IE he relapses or discovers the company behind the mysterious drug. There's a lot of plot potential for Afraid of Monsters. Cry of Fear honestly didn't hit as hard as Afraid of Monsters did imho.

best part of this mod is the ambient tracks are mix aphex twin and andreas' tracks that have a mixture of Akira Yamaoka and Aphex Twin blended to it. with that i cant finish the game the game made my balls shrunk

Ahh yes a classic. This and cry of fear was my shit back in my highschool days of 2015
I'm actually playing this myself as an adult for the first time as a new pc gamer (3-4 months now). I enjoyed watching playthroughs when I was a teen. This is the first game mod I've successfully installed and I've nearly finished.
