Mary Wickes was forever in demand; she could do drama, comedy, even musicals. The name "Katie" was taken from the maid in "Meet Me in St. Louis." Mary Wickes grew up in St. Louis not far from the Smith home on Kensington Avenue. She always planned to retire back in St. Louis "when I am done doing whatever I am doing."
Mary Wickes is just sensational here but note what Annette does with an extremely simple script and dialogue. When the other actors are speaking she keeps keen eye contact with them. She LISTENS. There's never a feeling she is acting or being someone she isn't. She has a great knack for giving the appropriate feeling for even the most unremarkable line. And she doesn't make the character just a goody two-shoes; she gives her many facets, including courage.
I am proud to say that people would often say how much they thought that annette&I looked a lot alike.she was 4yrs.older than me and I watched the Mickey mouse club everyday after school followed by American bandstand.i loved growing up in the50s&60s.happiest time in my life!!
It's Mary Wickes, and she lived to be 85 and worked almost to the end. Wickes was often seen on many of the CBS comedies of the 50s and 60s. Her longest recurring role was as Father Dowling's housekpeer Marie in "Father Dowling Mysteries."
This has to be one of the best disney teen shows of the 1950s i remember watching this as a rerun on the disney channel in the late 90s just like disney teens shows of the 2000s like Lizzie Mcguire. Before Lizzie Mcguire, There Was Annette RIP Ms Funicello
A lot of willing suspension of disbelief was in order for this serial. For example, heading to the malt shop right after lunch. What happened to the second half of the school day?
Arguably one of the most bankable character performers, next to Richard Deacon, of course. Sylvia Field should be remembered, too. Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow UA-camrs.

Waiting for Lumpy to walk in the door.

It may seem funny but at 1:13 Annette pumps into Steven Abernathy, who asks him for directions to go and stay at 149 Elm Street in which it happens to be the residence of her uncle Archie and aunt Lila McCloud.

Lucky for Annette Jett Maypen was in the kitchen dropping some things for the McCloud's.
From that day on Annette and Jett remained best friends for life and even defended Annette against Laura for falsely stating that: "Annette is a thief."
Like I always say never accuse anybody of theft if "there isn't any physical proof of any kind."

So why can't one watch daily whole episode original (black & white) shows?
Only little snippets???
........hello......???
They just about give away the entire show with this preview!
In loving memory of Karen Anita Pendleton: 1946-2019.
What role did Karen Anita Pendleton have in this series, Annette?

@@SOCORROSILVA-in7px She was the announcer of each episode.
Loved this show!
I watched this in the afternoons after school. I love it.
Farewell Annette.
Goddamn! With previews like these, who needs the actual show?
Thank you for sharing .
Do we get to see ENTIRE uncut episodes EVER and in sequence?
If not here, where?
And if not, WHY not?
Please explain/justify.
Thank you.
How can one access the "Spin and Marty" series within the regular daily Mickey Mouse Club Show?
Thank you.
ahh mean girls exist even back in those days - it never gets old :)
My mother (high school in the 30's,,) dealt with similar problems!
Looks like Spin & Marty moved into Donna Reed's house
How ironic--Paul Petersen, who starred on The Donna Reed Show, was a Mouseketeer for a short time, until he was fired for bad behavior.
she was the girl back them

Sylvia Field should be remembered, too.
Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow UA-camrs.
