I was 11 in May, 1958. ALL of us 6th graders rushed home after school to watch and then the next day "recreate" what we had watched the previous day. It was a full life! Thanks for the memories.
I recently first watched this series all the way through, and I loved it. It recently turned 65 earlier this February 10. And as a fan of Annette Funicello, I really enjoy her performance in this show. She played the part greatly. And I love the dress she has when she first arrives at the McClouds.
This series brings back such sweet, clean memories. It’s a joy to watch it now in 2021, I remember running home from school so I could catch his when it first aired. Thank you for loading these. 🌹
Annette as a young actress had the magic ingredient many actors go hunting for like it's the Holy Grail and never find. It's honesty. She never rang a false note. It's something can be taught in an acting class but is seldom learned. You never feel Annette is acting or reciting a script.
When she died on April 8th I was both sad and happy. Sad that she was gone and happy that she was not suffering anymore. God bless you Annette! We won's see you like in this world again. You were really something special!
Im a huge fan of 50s and 60s TV, and movies. Ive noticed that there was a very tight circle of character actors that appeared in these productions, over, and over, some of the same actors appeared on shows even throughout the 70s.
Even though I was only 4 when we got our first TV in 1956, I can still remember the magic of seeing Annette on the Mickey Mouse Club. It was like having a cool older friend that you could look up to, and whose attention made you feel really good inside.
Thank you SO much for posting this!! I have been looking for this for so long! I remember watching this as a kid...couldn't wait to see what would happen next!! So much fun! Annette was always my favorite Mouseketeer; so sweet and so beautiful!
Thank you so much John for assembling this mini-series about the movie "Annette". She was my "fist love" back then, unknown to me at the time was that I was not the only one in love with her. Thank you for the memories of an era of innocence and peace (before the war-related storm looming at the horizon ... and the draft). Ciao, L
Brings back many fond memories. Life was simple and sweet. I looked forward to all of Mickey Mouse Club series. The Hardy Boys, Spin and Marty, Corky and White a Shadow and Annette. Great stuff for kids to grow up on.
I'm sure going to miss Annette, she was such a great singer and actress, I've see beach blanket bingo with Frankie avalon at our movie theater in San Fernando Valley California 😊
Watching Annette on the Mickey Mouse club reminds me of my childhood. I had a great childhood and never missed an episode of the Mickey Mouse Show. My favorite serial was indeed the ' Annette" serials.
This whole beginning of the series makes me think of "Pollyanna" (which, of course, Walt Disney later adapted into his feature starring Hayley Mills). Because it has a lot of the basic stuff that happened at the beginning of that story. An aunt or uncle receiving a letter about a child that they had no idea was related to them at first who will be coming to live with them after losing her father who had just passed away. Then the little girl herself arrives by train in a dress that was made for her for the trip, and she meets the aunt (and uncle in this case) and quickly settles into her new home. Even though the aunt (or uncle) doesn't seem too good about it at first. And then the girl makes fast friends with the maid who helps her unpack (the girl says that she hasn't got much besides the dress she's wearing). Then after her first night at her new home, she is brought into town to get new clothes and things for her. It's all so very similar.
I'm still very saddened over the passing over Annette Funicello. How I wishedI could have met her while she was around. On a positive note, Annette is inpeace with the Lord forever! ;)
I remember watching Annette and the series back in the 1970s. Still watching this in 2020. Loved her and her Beach party movies along with Frankie Avalon. What fond memories and nostalgic feelings.
What a unique talent....while other child stars lapsed into drugs and alcohol later on, Annette was a role model her whole life...Her fans will grieve always for the loss..
So easy to judge others isn’t it...perhaps you might think about the struggles that lead people in substance abuse rather than putting people on pedestals above those who have had troubles. “Judge lest ye be judged”
I used to watch MMC after school. I loved it then and I am so grateful that you are able to share this. I spent my entire Sunday evening watching every episode. Thank you!
I watched this in the 70s as a kid. Annette series was the only reason why I watched Mickey Mouse Show. I remember it wasn't long enough for me and you had to tune the next day, but I really enjoyed her show.
The very first Pin Up girl of the Disney Generation I was a part of... Annette Funicello was my first TV Crush!!! The hardest part of getting older is watching everyone you ever admired or loved grow old and to depart before us. I have begun my own walk down the "Green Mile" that Stephen King so eloquently wrote about in the Film by the same name. Warmest prayers and greetings to you in heaven Annette Funicello! You are up there with my other childhood heros Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. Godspeed!
JustNess78 I think the maid's name is Mary Wickes she was in the 1970s Saturday morning TV show Sigmund and the sea monsters with Johnny Whittaker (Jody of the original family affair) and later appeared on the father downing mysteries with Tom boseley and tracy nelson
I Was born soon after this show. I always felt when I saw Annette Funicello, she didn't just speak her lines, her TV characters were just as an extension of her real self, just a very sweet, nice person coming through. 😃
I love this series. I use too watch it after school everyday when I was young. I would love too have this series and the Mickey Mouse Club originals to share with my granddaughters. Spin and Marty/ The Hardy Boys were also my favorites. Bring back the classics. Annette will always be remembered. Rest in Peace, Annette.
Thank you so much for posting this! I watched this serial from beginning to end back in 2002 and I thought it was so adorable! I like Disney's portrayal of teenagers in the '50s--quite different than the "Grease" style of teen culture we've come to associate with that decade. I was so upset when the Disney Channel stopped showing the Mickey Mouse Club and Vault Disney and became a channel mainly for kids. I do like some things like High School Musical, but it just isn't the same.
The uncle is played by Richard Deacon who was on a lot of comedy shows in the 1940's and 1960's etc. The woman who plays the Aunt...played Mr. Wilson's wife on Dennis the Menace in the 1960's. The girl in the convertible is Roberta Shore singer and dancer. I did not even have to look that up, I was going on 12 yrs old when this episode came out in Feb 1958. I miss the good old days.
Bless you. You get to witness part of the legacy and glory that was and forever will be Walter Elias Disney (1901-1966). I saw this at its original airing, so I am a little past 21.
Nice to see these I barely remember them. I watched the Mickey Mouse Club everyday when it was on. Loved all the show but Annette was my all time favorite. She surely will be missed and too bad her illness took over because she would have done a lot of great and good things but now things can be done in her memory and hope they can find a cure for MS.
She was my idol as a child in the 70s watching the reruns. I loved this series and introduced it to my daughter about a year ago. She recently decided to do "Readin, Writin', and Rhythm" for her middle-school talent show so we just happened to be watching a couple of the episodes yesterday when my husband came in and said Annette had died. RIP Annette! Your will be missed.
I have the DVD and I jumped for joy when I read that it was going to be released on DVD. Those of you who think that Miley Cyrus simply does not have the class and charisma that Annette had, raise your hand.
This was the last serial ever produced for the original "MICKEY MOUSE CLUB", adapted from the book "Margaret", by Janette Sebring Lowrey (she was best known for writing the classic "Little Golden Book", "The Poky Little Puppy"). In fact, because of Annette's popularity, Whitman issued several follow-up novels based on this serial, right through 1964!
She had a particularly endearing presence and to think she was discovered too by Walt himself who noticed her just being herself. I think it’s very rare quality.
"Aunt Lila", with that Mid Atlantic accent! There were so many actresses with that goofy accent. I guess they used it to portray an upscale, sophisticated air about them. Harrumph! I liked the way the housekeeper spoke! Down to earth, no nonsense, she was not acting, she was being herself! Thanks so much for posting this!
Aunt Lila didn’t pronounce the letter “r.” The actress who portrayed the maid, played a recurring character on “Dennis the Menace.” Her character was looking for a husband.
R.I.P. Ms. Funicello. The housekeeper was played by Mary Wickes, who was best known for as Marie Murkin in "The Father Dowling Mysteries." Mr. and Mrs. McLeod were played by Richard Deacon, best remembered as Mel Cooley on "The Dick Van Dyke Show." and Sylvia Field, who had a four year run as Martha Wilson on "Dennis the Menace."
Wish I owned this on dvd but Disney have never released the Mickey Mouse Club serials where I live and they now cost a fortune to get from Amazon or Ebay. I don't know why people criticize Annette's acting I think she does just fine for what's required. It would have been interesting if Darlene Gillespie had played the Jet part as was originally planned but given her ego problems at this time and her jealousy of Annette's popularity it was probably a good thing she dropped out.
I've just watched this for the very first time, and I must say I can't wait to see the rest! Annette is so adorable here, as she always is. Before I start the second episode, I think I'm gonna head out to the kitchen and make myself a peanut butter sandwich. Of course, you know the brand...(alright, who's the wise guy that just yelled out "Peter Pan"?!? LOL)
the Annette serial is on DVD, you can find it on Amazon. And there are 2 dvd's of the actual show itself, and 10 VHS's on the show you can all find on Amazon.

Why wasn’t Darlene in this serial?

She was beautiful. My favorite Mouseketeer, so sweet and she never seemed to try to push ahead for the limelight.
Thank you so much John for assembling this mini-series about the movie "Annette". She was my "fist love" back then, unknown to me at the time was that I was not the only one in love with her. I have always been a big fan of Annette, she has been my favorite singer and actress, from the Mickey mouse, club ❤😊,
I was 😂15 years old then 😊

"nothing but circulars and bills!" Things havent changed much in 60 years! Thanks, John!

Brings back memories of my childhood. A much better and sweeter. God was still worshiped and He continued to bless America.
Great mouse Mickey .
Annette was my favorite

Talps was not judging other people. He or she was just stating the facts on how Annette Funicello was a role model for the next person being a man or woman.
I grew up watching the Mickey Mouse Club and this.
This is my personal opinion and should be respected as such.

Lindsey Lohan was probably a better role model, and the cyrus girls.
..role model... Idk
I used to hurry home from school to watch "The Mickey Mouse Club" and I saw this series when it first aired. Brings back many memories...
Mary Wickes is one of my favorite character actresses' of all time. What a fantastic and talented lady.
Her final film role was in Disney as well. She played Laverne the Gargoyle in Hunchback of Norte Dame.
Mary Wickes was on the sitcom Dennis the Menace. She played Miss Cathcart... and was looking for a husband.
I used to watch MMC after school. I loved it then and I am so grateful that you are able to share this. I spent my entire Sunday evening watching every episode. Thank you!
Great tv star.miss you're spirit.rip.thanks.
So grateful you have these videos up. Heart warming, sad, happy, timeless, eternal memories...now it's time to say goodbye...

I have been trying to find these episodes for a long time. So glad someone was able to upload them. I use to rush home to watch them in 70's
RIP Annette Funicello and Mary Wickes
I have not watched this all last week 😊
A legend in the making surrounded by legendary character actors in their own right.
I watched this in the 70s as a kid. Annette series was the only reason why I watched Mickey Mouse Show. I remember it wasn't long enough for me and you had to tune the next day, but I really enjoyed her show.
Thanks for posting this. I saw this years before on your channel but never got the chance to thank you for putting this here.
This is my favorite MMC serial. Thanks for posting it! I must get the new DVD this week!
It’s funny seeing the kids from this show all land roles in The Shaggy Dog
Always loved the Mickey Mouse club back when the kids shows were good

Loved her in this and "Spin and Marty" and her early Disney films.
Thank you so much for posting this tribute to a time long forgotton and a star in the making.
Good ole' "Mrs. Martha Wilson"(Sylvia Field)! So clean cut and wholesome. Not comparable to the filthy acting of today's television.
I so agree with you Clarence. Sad to see what's on television these days.
EdithHead Seriously? At least don't make sure rude comments.
Sara Seegar, the other Mrs. Wilson, was not as good as Sylvia Field

I'm wondering if this the Walt Disney studios, where they film Walt Disney shows like Annette, 😊
RIP Annette. The series "Annette" was released on Disney Treasure. Today I'll watch with tears. Thank you for the wholesome Entertainment.
If there is a Heaven, and if I am worthy of it, I think it will be something like this time and place.
You can tell by the time Laura first sees Annette that she's immediately jealous of her. And it builds up during the party that she holds.
In loving memory: Annette Joanne Funicello: October 22, 1942-April 8, 2013.
Loveing Annette...wish had the episodes on DVD❤
have not seen this in 1000 years but I remembered every word to the intro.
Annette Funicello was surprised and pleased to star in her own serial. When I see this I am surprised at who else I recognize.(-:
I have the DVD and I jumped for joy when I read that it was going to be released on DVD.
Those of you who think that Miley Cyrus simply does not have the class and charisma that Annette had, raise your hand.
Miley Cyrus is a female Justin Bieber. Both spoiled brats.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
oh come on miley cyrus couldnt hold a candle to ANNETTE FUNICELLO!
the most classiest woman ever to be on TV
Annette was a darling girl and as a kid in the '50s, I looked forward to watching this series every day.
I have been looking for this video for years! Thanks so much for posting!
RIP Annette. Thanks for being a part of this Gen Xer's childhood memories.
Love Annette and Tim Considine liked all My 3 Sons but never the same after Mike left.
She was an angel.

Rest in peace, Annette. Your 1/4 century of pain is finally at an end. You will always be in our hearts. 8 Apr 2013
Before Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, and Selena Gomez, Disney chose one other little girl to be made a superstar. Her name, Annette.
Fun,innocent times of life. Can do without this current world. A sludge of a mess. Nice to go back to better times.
John Sutfin review of Annette F Mouseketeers, Disney that is ..
...no way, i am nostalgic...did i spell that right?
Beautiful, talented woman all of use 50s kids loved!
I'm just old enough to remember seeing re-runs of this on t.v. in the 1970s...
Can you imagine having a housekeeper who also cooks, or even one who doesn't . . . wow!
Quantum Leap ..... Aunt Lila, she played Mrs. Wilson on Dennis the Menace show.
Aunt Lila didn’t pronounce the letter “r.” The actress who portrayed the maid, played a recurring character on “Dennis the Menace.” Her character was looking for a husband.
This is the kind of stuff I watched as a kid, and remember Disney as. Bring it back...
Probably the nicest person ever! Nobody’s perfect, but she comes closest!❤️
So Annette was Lumpy's cousin?
nothing like what we have now.
The Swamp Fox! Dr Syn, Alias the Scarecrow! Those were so wonderful.
Cast evokes memories of Dennis the Menace, Make Room for Daddy, Leave It to Beaver, My Three Sons...
Oh my, who doesn't love Annette?!
R.I.P. Ms.
@ Tom Barrister .... Mary Wikes was also in White Christmas. Played a housekeeper too.
Also played "FRED" as a father on" Leave It To Beaver ".. for Lumpys dad., (Richard Deacon )
I am raising my hand! I love this show to death! I also have the Adventures of Spin and Marty on DVD! Oh, I forgot to mention- I am 13 years old!
Wish I owned this on dvd but Disney have never released the Mickey Mouse Club serials where I live and they now cost a fortune to get from Amazon or Ebay. Before I start the second episode, I think I'm gonna head out to the kitchen and make myself a peanut butter sandwich. Of course, you know the brand...(alright, who's the wise guy that just yelled out "Peter Pan"?!? LOL)
I remember this so well...and I was only 9 years old
great show,,,,,,,
We should all start a writing campaign to the disney company to get disney back the way it should be.
Hi. I just found the DVD on amazon, priced about $24.95. I typed on "Annette serial" and it came up. How I loved this program! Hope you find it.
the Annette serial is on DVD, you can find it on Amazon. And there are 2 dvd's of the actual show itself, and 10 VHS's on the show you can all find on Amazon.
I love her purse,
The theme was written especially for her by Jimmie Dodd.
