I'll never forget the big deal about the hamburgers. I was the same age as Annette, and I was so into this series when it aired. I moved a lot, was sent to live with aunts, uncles, others...and well, Annette made me convinced I could make it all work. And it did. Thanks, John Sutfin.
Even though Mosselle worried that all the other girls would hate Annette, what's ironic is that they all really like her instead, and that Laura is the only one that hates her.
Thanks for uploading this. I watched these old episodes when I was 9/10 or so when Disney-channel would air the old Mickey Mouse Club episodes 9 years ago in 2000. I have never forgotten this "Annete" series or whatever! It's amazing!
I absolutely adored Tammy's uncle too...he treated her with such love and understanding. He was so kind to her.... as well....he was just a wonderful man and to his sister as well...again such great movie in other ways too.
Just watched the first two episodes gotta go cook Burgers & Dogs on the grill but am destined to see as many of these episodes as I can find... Thank you so much for posting them for us. sev
Love Mary Wickes she always played a home nurse or cook/housekeeper. Mary was a long time friend of Lucille Ball Doris Day Van Johnson to name a few. I loved her as the beer drinking telephone operator in Doris Day's film 'What Ever Happened to Jane' as housekeeper in White Christmas and as a Nun/PhysEd teacher in The Trouble with Angels and Where Angels Go Trouble Follows.
R.I.P Annette, we'll miss you. You were a very talented lady & we'll always remember you. & thanks for the memories you left behind. B.T.W. I still eat Skippy Peanut Butter.
For some reason they chose older actors to play parents back in the fifties. They should be in their 30s but they often had actors in their 50s playing the parts.
Well, the last episode of this aired in early March 1958 and she was born in late October 1942. She was only 15 years and 4 months old at the time the last episode aired, at which point the whole series was done filming and everything. On top of that, her character was supposed to seem a bit naive and inexperienced as well compared to the "city kids". I just want to say that I'm sorry if I come off as a "know-it-all". I didn't mean to "correct" you. I just wanted to point out that although this was technically the year of her 16th birthday, she was very far from being 16 yet, and on top of that she was supposed to act a little young even for 15. Man, this is such a charming series, and Annette was such a lovely person.
What's sad is the fact that the Industry and her own so called friends accused her of being a drunk when she was scared to death because she didn't know what was going on with herself. It's sad to see how everyone turned their backs on her instead of trying to help her and then they felt bad when she came out saying she had MS. Luckily the man she met and married was her Angel from above and stayed with her until the end.
It isn't a given back then that they would naturally have french fries. Some people ate onion rings and some ate only French fries piled on a plate with ketchup. This show was really popular and Tim Considine was the teen heartthrob of the time. It's how he ended up on My Three Sons as the eldest son.
Jupiter Jones Capezios yes but "teeny-tiny" some of those girls had big feet. Did you wear Capezios? At some schools thats all they wore and at others they bought their shoes at C H Baker's and Karls.
I recognized Shelly ..she is my most favorite young actress of that era....her personality on the Donna Reed Show was just as sweet as can be..Donna Reed is my favorite too. She was sooo beautiful. . I thought they looked like real mother and daughter too.
Mrs. Abernathy was played by Doris Packer. Packer had a considerable resume in the theater on Broadway off-Broadway, and community theater before she moved to California in the early 50s. She was a popular choice as a wealthy matron type. She's best remembered as the mother of Chatsworth Osborne Jr. on "Dobie Gillis."
And get ready for this. Doris Packer was born in Ontonagon, Michigan, a rustic area in the western section of the Upper Peninsula near the Porcupine Mountains. She certain came a long way in her life.
For some reason I was watching the movie full metal jacket( war movie) coming to the end of the movies all the solders were singing the old Mickey Mose show theme song. I went to these show and show the Annette show. I didn't even knew she had her on show. I also had a thing for her she was the most beautiful young lady out of the Mickey show.
My bad--I forgot to mention Amzie Strickland, who played the sales clerk. Miss Strickland was another one of the favorite utilitarian character performers.
I wanna buy the whole set of these video's.I thought they were all different stories, but, they just keep showing parts of the first story. I don't get it.
I really love this movie . Walt Disney had such class.. He really instilled in all the young people to practice good morales, healthy hygiene kindness towatrds eachother. '
And Wickes was a riot in The Man Who Came to Dinner. This little series was crawling with statured actors and Annette did a fantastic job. Leave it to Walt.
RICHARD DEACON as Uncle ARCHIE also Pollyanna by Disney was released in 1960 judging from the success of this short version, the Disney Studio , invested in a full movie for Disneyland TV 2 years after this was first released
He said it exactly the way it was meant to be said. Since (in the story) Archibald's and Lila's brother Bryce left town 18 years ago and never talked to anybody in town again, they'd have no way of knowing how many kids Bryce had, but they'd know that he was the only brother that they had (or at least that Archibald had).
I could fill pages with roles Mr. Deacon played on TV and Broadway. Deacon was also the replacement for Roger Carmel on "The Mothers-in-:Law." Interestingly, Deacon was allowed to continue playing Fred Rutherford while also doing Mel Cooley. Of course, both shows were on CBS. Deacon also reprised the Fred Rutherford role on "Still the Beave," one of his last performances before his untimely death in 1984.
Where I grew up, we only had CBS and ABC until 1963. I guess that my CBS affiliate carried it instead of whatever was on in its time slot. It wasn't unusual then for somebody to work for shows on different networks: For example: John Daly hosted What's My Line on CBS, was the president of ABC News, and sometimes hosted the Today Show on NBC. Deacon was a gourmet chef and hosted a cooking show on Canadian Television .
When told by Annette that she was having her hair styled, Uncle Archie (Richard Deacon) replied "What for?" Writer Lillie Hayword wanted Katie the housekeeper (Mary Wickes) to walk by and say "If you had any hair yourself, you'd KNOW what for!" Unfortunately, Walt Disney nixed the line. Wickes had a long career as a wisecracking character, rivaled mainly by Thelma Ritter. Wickes's characters generally stole any scene that they were in.
AH, the memories! A time when chivalry was alive and well, and men knew how to treat a lady! All you young fellers take notes! Y'hear? Be sweet! Daisy Mae
It would seem so, jonwiley; but in our defense, I've seen a few young women who act like young ladies--even when they think no boys are watching. So, there is still hope for women, after all. There just aren't as many as there used to be. Some of the blame for that goes to the parents, and some of the blame goes to boys who insist on treating every female as if she was a "ho", as you put it. Be sweet! Daisy Mae
The "men" you seek are out there but their numbers are now few. The demand for "equality" (although it isn't equal for boys), the push to eliminate "Fathers Day", pretending there are more than two genders, and the lack of recognizing male-related issues in life have made men a scarce commodity nowadays.
I watched the MMC as a child, but cannot remember this series. I thought the show was a musical variety show with skits and Disney cartoons. But I guess there was more to it. This seems a bit like other shows such as Father Knows Best or Ozzie and Harriet. All in the Family is a sort of satire of this. The movie Pleasantville is also a satire of the fifties TV family shows. But somehow I like the innocent shows of those times better than the awful Disney shows they have now, which are too woke and PC for my taste.
It just occurred to me, how did uncle know Jet was a girl? It's not a common girl's name. He's never heard of her yet asks "Who's she?" And chicken soup and hamburgers... odd combination.
Because just before, when Archie asks how Annette knew about "Old South," Annette says, "Jet told me when she was here this morning." And what kind of soup do you expect to get with a hamburger? LOL
How do you do? Charmed. How do you do? How do you do? The girls will all hate you! Steven is the most popular boy in town. I'll send him to pick you up at seven! Mother how could you do that!
I'll never forget the big deal about the hamburgers. I was the same age as Annette, and I was so into this series when it aired. I moved a lot, was sent to live with aunts, uncles, others...and well, Annette made me convinced I could make it all work. And it did. Thanks, John Sutfin.
Why did you move around so much?
Even though Mosselle worried that all the other girls would hate Annette, what's ironic is that they all really like her instead, and that Laura is the only one that hates her.

I have always loved Annette, she's my favorite singer and actress ❤😊
I ❤love that song Annette was singing 😊
I absolutely adored Tammy's uncle too...he treated her with such love and understanding. He was so kind to her.... as well....he was just a wonderful man and to his sister as well...again such great movie in other ways too.
One thing creator forgot about Beaver Junction is that most small towns always have at least one church.
Thank you for posting this! Haven't seen it for decades, but it's still great.
Just watched the first two episodes gotta go cook Burgers & Dogs on the grill but am destined to see as many of these episodes as I can find... Thank you so much for posting them for us.

Hearing the music at the beginning brings me back to the 70s my childhood.I loved looking at Annette Series
I think that Val's friend is Shelley Fabares, who was the daughter on 'the Donna Reed Show'.
+Tarn Sand, Mary was one of my favorite character actresses. She was a real hoot in white Christmas.
Tarn Sand Did you see Mary Wickes in the Bette Davis film Now Voyager? She played a nurse and very funny one.
Her last movie role was as Laverne the gargoyle in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Also loved her in both Sister Act movies!
Annette Funicello had an innate charisma and sweetness. She shall be most fondly remembered.
R.I.P Annette, we'll miss you. You were a very talented lady & we'll always remember you. & thanks for the memories you left behind. B.T.W. I still eat Skippy Peanut Butter.
I would have loved to have met her in person. Those Skippy commercials still stand out in my mind to this day.
Did you eat the creamy or the crunchy version of Skippy Peanut Butter?
She sang "Johnnie Angel" when I was 13 years old..it was such a darling song. SHELLY HAD A SWEET AND BEAUTIFUL VOICE AND LOVRL PERSONALITY.
Lovely voice
Helen looks more like a Grandmother than a Mother.
For some reason they chose older actors to play parents back in the fifties. They should be in their 30s but they often had actors in their 50s playing the parts.
I noticed as well.
It's hard to believe she was 16 in these episodes. She seems younger.
I would have guessed twelve. Fourteen at the maximum.
solipha1 She acted young, it was her part. A country bumpkin around all her 'sophisticated' peers.
Well, the last episode of this aired in early March 1958 and she was born in late October 1942. She was only 15 years and 4 months old at the time the last episode aired, at which point the whole series was done filming and everything. Yes, she was barely 15.
She's was a little sprite of a girl so she looks young.
What's sad is the fact that the Industry and her own so called friends accused her of being a drunk when she was scared to death because she didn't know what was going on with herself. It's sad to see how everyone turned their backs on her instead of trying to help her and then they felt bad when she came out saying she had MS. She's from '' Beaver Junction ''? Ah the innocence of the 1950s!
Beaver Junction was a stone's throw from Petticoat Junction, which was down in the holler from Conjunction Junction.
Yes! When Dad could be hard on the Beaver and nobody laughed. At all.
@@jonwiley2592
Beaver Junction isn't even near to Petticoat Junction with Kate, her uncle Joe Carlson and her three daughters - Betty Jo, Billy Jo and Bobby Jo.
Source: very good memory.

Ah yes....typical 1950s teen girls in pencil skirts, cardigan sweaters with the sleeves pushed up (a MUST) and teeny-tiny Capezios on their feet.
Jupiter Jones Capezios yes but "teeny-tiny" some of those girls had big feet. Did you wear Capezios? At some schools thats all they wore and at others they bought their shoes at C H Baker's and Karls.
I love it when Annette gets lots of new clothes and a new hairdo.

An early version of "What Not to Wear. "
Annette as Annette was genius casting.
Such great memories of one of my favorite teen stars!!!!
I recognized Shelly

RIP Annette . We love you.
The theme song sounds very familiar.

Anyone who doesn't care for hamburgers can't be trusted.
I wanna buy the whole set of these video's.I thought they were all different stories, but, they just keep showing parts of the first story. I don't get it.
If it helps the whole Annette serial is here on UA-cam the channel takapaiki
Was that Shelley Fabares playing one of the girls?
Yes!
One never knows what fate awaits us when we get older, for if we did many of us would be too terrified to live beyond our youth.
I really love this movie . Walt Disney had such class.. He really instilled in all the young people to practice good morales, healthy hygiene kindness towatrds eachother.

Isn't that Shelley Fabres with the pony tail?
Curt Brennan yes they were close friends both had same experiences tv show, singing with music hits and last movie star too
The ever reliable and talented Doris Packer.
I just noticed how the father flubbed a line: "Our only brother's child" I think he meant "our brothers only child" when talking to Annette
You mean Mel Cooley! : )
Ok I'll be u
The young Shelley Fabares and Doreen. All three of them so cute.
Ah, so it was Fabares. This must've been one of her first parts.
I just looked it up in Wikipedia. I guess she was a semi-regular on this series.
I love the mickey club
What's wrong with these recordings? The left channel is missing.
At approximately 7:20 you will notice that Moselle Corrie, who is on your left hand side of the screen, is talking secretly to Belle behind Annette's back.

@MoDans 0- yes that BE SHELLEY F. - she was also the "wife" in the TV program - COACH- from the 80's

lol I love it that they start with a soup before going to the hamburgers. No french fries though, why is that?

Mozelle's mother is old.
my mom had a cousin named Mozelle.

I don't remember Karen. But Annette was memorable.
