Hello Dr. I am Old IMG 2015 graduated, I am studying to take step 1 , do you think I should take your course of research right or after passing step 1 and step 2 .
What should right now?
If you have time that you are not using to study STEP 1/2 but can utilize to learn about research, you should start now. Otherwise, you can start after you are done.
Does ur uni marks make any difference? If u perform poorly at ur uni ? And matching into residency in ur home country or finishing ur internship at ur home country does that affect ur application ? In a good or in a bad way I mean do they count it as gap years if u do internship in ur country (2 years internship now in the new system -total of 7 years medical school)
Med School grades are not as important as STEP 2CK scores

I would like to ask, what if I cannot publish so many papers? Or cant spent 2 or 3 years doing just research? I can publish papers and do research in my home country but I find it difficult to do so in the US right now.
You can but if you wanna match into competitive specialties, you need to do research in the US to build connections.

Yes but most require STEP 1
I am unable to understand your journey w.r.t timelines. Could you help reply, like when you completed your medical UG course, when you took STEP1/2 CK, when you started research work in US, when did you apply for residency. thanks!

@@MalkeAsaad thanks. So i understand, before you finished your UG medicine, you took STEP1/2 CK and CS. After the course you applied for research position under a mentor/researcher, you worked for 2 years and then you applied for match in the same institute where you did research and this helped in easy matching. ?
