Apple Intelligence won't be ready for iOS 18 until 2025 in the U.S. according to reports. Plus, the European Union will be getting it even later after Apple went on the record stating regulatory concerns from the EU. Then, Apple is bringing back its thin era, and it might end up being a good thing.

Exactly! I have the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the only reason I would upgrade is for faster charging speeds or a significant leap in battery life (which is already great compared to previous years).
The 15 Pro Max is the pinnacle of iPhones now that it has switched to USB-C. It’s like when Apple released the M1 MacBook. With Apple’s business model of minor incremental upgrades, there’s probably no good reason to upgrade unless you get a great deal through your carrier.
It’s time for me with the good ol’ 11.

I went 5 years with my iPhone X, I gave it to a friend after I bought an iPhone 14 Pro Max and she's still actively using it. Yeah, no "need" to upgrade every year or every other year compared to the early days of smartphones when every year brought us noticeably snappier performance or something else to inspire technolust. Nothing about Apple Intelligence says, "I gotta have it!!!" I'd like it to make it to 6 years with my iPhone 14 Pro Max, outside of the novelty of smartphones being long gone, I'd rather keep coin$ in my own pocket versus Tim Cook's.

Hello, thank you for this video. I’m waiting for the new Mac mini with the M4 chip . I want to buy it along with the new iPad Pro 13 inch and make it into my desktop set up and I’m happy to know that new Macs are expected by the end of the year I hope that doesn’t change. I’ve skipped only 1 upgrade since the 3GS and it was the iPhone 5. Went from 4S to 5S. Now I believe the iPhone 16 will be my second upgrade skip.
I’m in on a new iPhone 16 pro max to replace my 12 pro max. For me it’s all about the camera & the camera upgrade from my current iPhone is substantial. I’m also of the opinion I’d rather have more battery life with the same form factor than a thinner device. As far as Apple Watches, I always liked big watches. I have automatic winding 54mm analog watches so I got the Ultra 1 which I love. I don’t see any reason for me to upgrade any time in the next 2 years.
So no talk about the iPhone 16 should I just wait for the iPhone 17 ? I’m currently using a iPhone 12 Pro Max ?

I have an 11 Pro. I was considering upgrading this year. But based on your latest reporting, I'll be waiting for the iPhone 17. But it looks I'll be forced to get a new Apple Watch as Watch OS 11 will not support my Version 4 watch. However, if Apple makes the watch too large for my small wrist, I'll probably get a Version 9.

Wasn’t planning on upgrading this year anyway. Even before the announcement, the rumors felt like they were going to be too ambitious with their ai aims. Hopefully it will be more fully developed by the time the iPhone 17 rolls out.

I upgraded from SE2020 to 15 pro max, it’s going to be a couple years before I upgrade my phone again. Currently on the iPad mini, that will probably be my next upgrade.
13:00 few months back I upgraded to an M3 MacBook Pro 14” from an M1 13” with Touch Bar, use it for all my design business. Kind of regret it as I miss the touch bar so much, but also it really doesn’t feel that different, with double the ram and M1-M3 🤷♂️🤦♂️
We took advantage of a carrier incentive to trade in our 13Pros and get 15pros at “no cost” over 36 months to make the move to them. I figured it was the best leverage we’d still get for our 13’s.
Apple should be developing more desktop apps for their macs. Maybe taking advantage of the gestures and pencil, over the trackpad and mouse?

USBC is totally worth it to be able to carry around, one single cable or to use any phone charger. The cameras on the pro and the promax are amazing.

I believe everything happens for a reason. I was planning to wait for the iPhone 15 Pro while using my iPhone 11 Pro, but then I had an accident at work that destroyed my 11 Pro, forcing me to upgrade to the 14 Pro. Now, with Apple Intelligence on the horizon, if I wait for the iPhone 17 Pro, it will likely be out of the beta stage, offering a better user experience and possibly a true stereo base camera system for spatial video recording.
With this new information, it does change my plans of upgrading this year. Currently have a purple 14 Pro Max so I can wait until 2025.😊
I'm honestly on the fence. When the announcement happened at WWDC, I was all for updating my 13Pro, but not it's seems like it may not even be worth it until next year with the new iPhone17s that are supposed to be thinner with the redesign.
Edit: On the other hand, I've heard rumor of a full screen with no cutouts for 2026-2027, so if I upgrade this year, I'd feel more comfortable upgrading then. I'd also have USB-C with the 16Pro, which would be nice since I'd get rid of my last lightning port.

After buying pros 11, 12, 13, 14, I thought I was going to skip 15 till the prospect of 3D video memories “ forced me” to jump in. Now with the “entry level” compatible device in my possession, I may wait, but… two 48mp cameras boosting light sensitivity 🤔. Depends on the optical zoom capabilities of the 16. You have just opened my eyes to perhaps skip this cycle. Thanks for the years of good advice!!
i dont get these people saying the title is misleading when the majority of the features are pushed to next year then in reality to get what they have shown then yes it is delayed.
im also not a big fan of them making the phones "thinner" because thats all well and good but the camera bump is huge and for the majority of people will throw a case on it and result in the same thickness as the bump so completely pointless at that point.
if they are gonna focus on making it thin then they need to reduce the size of the bump or keep it the same thickness with a larger battery.
I would prefer more battery capacity over a slim design since the average consumer uses cases anyway.
I already have an iPhone 15 Pro, so I don’t see upgrading it for a few years regardless of the Apple Intelligence rollout. My ecosystem is all Apple Silicon now so the features should work on my current devices when they are able to launch them.

Still on an 11 Pro. Battery has seen better days but tbh the slower it gets the less I'll wanna use it, which is something of a win-win. M2 Max MBP from last year is a dream machine. S6 watch does fine. My iPad, however? A year 'younger' than the phone but comparatively more beaten up… I don't want a new one, but the decision might be made for me at this rate. To hell with the 'thin era' though; devices being more performant is the only thing I'll ever care about, since they're never coming down in price. 😅

I was planning to skip upgrading this year regardless of AI being delayed. Will keep my 15 pro max until a design change happens or on screen fingerprint. Esp not just for a camera button and better lens.
The question is how much better is the iPhone 16 camera.
I bought my 15 pro this year so I didn't need to upgrade my phone but I REALLY need a new watch. I think I have the 6th gen and my battery is horrible! Please let them release that X and return my o2 monitor or use a different one if they are still in litigation!
They're thin enough. I'd much rather better battery life. Thinner also makes it more difficult to improve the camera. Those are my 2 main concerns with a phone. Battery life and camera.
Though going forward, RAM may be important as it's a big part of running the small language model on the phone

I was planning on upgrading this year but do we know when in 2025? Yeesh. If it’s like, May, right before iOS 19 announcements then I will probably just wait. I also want to see what the phone will be like this year. The last two years haven’t been enough for me to want to upgrade. My phone is fine now but I’m tired of Siri being dumb. I also know I’ll want to upgrade for iPhone 20 so I want to make sure I’m not locked into a plan by then.
Any leaks on what the next Watch will have other than being thin and losing out on watch straps? I don’t want to upgrade that either until the blood glucose monitoring is announced; which I know is rumored to be years away but would also be a big feat of engineering to announce for the 10 year anniversary. 🤷♂️

I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max so no upgrade this year. My dad has a 13 Pro, but I am telling him to wait until 2025 to get an iPhone 17 series since Apple Intelligence won’t be fully ready until then anyways. Plus, I’m sure iOS 19 will bring even more.

I’m still rocking the 12 ProMax with good battery life. I’ll wait to see what hardware the 16 has as I really want the better camera. Not sold on AI enough yet to be a big driver for me. Plus AI and security with my personal data, I let everyone else play with that first!

I want any of the AI now, I'm not waiting until September 2025 just for a thinner iPhone which I bet gets no screen or camera upgrades, it's all going to be thin as the big feature....I'm sure most new AI features will be available right from October, and the rest will be added by January, I have zero interest in a thinner iPhone in 2025.

Yeah 16 sounds like the smallest update to an iPhone I’ve ever seen. Capture button, thinner bezels, maybe 48mp camera for ultra wide.
