The perfect album. Been enjoying it since I bought it on cassette in 1976. Beautiful lyrics and quite amazing that these guys wrote them while in their mid 20's.
To many people using in ear buds nowadays n miss so much,, full head phones are the only way to listen to such great music,, from what you say about parties you have more than likely listened to echoes in Pompeii, you need to hear it 30 years later, echoes live in Gdansk, it blows the first one out the water,
As for picking the "right" version(s)... you won't go far wrong if you watch their "Pulse" concert (1994-ish). I reckon just about every song in that concert is better than the studio version (except perhaps "Time", where I like the studio version a little more). And it comes with an amazing lightshow. But whatever PF song you experiment with next, find the "Pulse" concert version... 🙂
Time and The Great Gig In The Sky together as one song......the original album version being the best ever Great Gig.......otherwise, the live Pulse versions are often superior to the studio versions.
G'day (again) from Oz :) fantastic choice guys, so many memories of buying the album and enjoying one of those many "interesting" evenings in a mate's place laying on bean bags. Everyone had the poster (incl with the album) on their wall, and knew each track backwards. In a way I feel a bit sorry for kids today .. will they have memories like me of riding around St Tropez listening to 'San Tropez' (Meddle) or watching a sunset on a cliff in Anglesey while listening to Atom Heart Mother on a beaten up old cassette player. (Sigh) great times with amazing friends .. thanks for the memories F & B.
Their live performances improved over 100% once Roger Waters left the band. Their 1994 world tour marketed on both CD and full colour DVD as Pulse, is probably the worlds favourite concert......even classical musicians, opera singers, heavy metalheads, rap and hip hop dead heads etc are blown away by the quality of the music, the vocals, musicianship, lighting, sound quality ....everything. And their 1980's tour is nearly as good, the live CD titled The Delicate Sound Of Thunder.......i think their is a DVD but as i haven't seen it, i can't be sure. Anyway......i have the latest remastered DVD of Pulse i just bought, a bargain at only $120 AUD......don't need anything else. Wanna impress ya friends or family......play them PULSE on a widescrean TV through a quality valve amp and descent speakers or monitors, real ones not the plastic digital rubbish.
50 years later and I'm not even sure the word iconic is enough for this album anymore, it's just pure perfection!
The Pulse concert is a good one to react to Pink Floyd songs
When you are younger you understand this song, as you get older you feel it

Dieses Album, Yes! 1976. Eine Party. Dieses Album. Zwei Cognacs. Und neisnew girl. Punkt.😅
Richard was the heart and soul of Pink Floyd. He was so underrated
Roger played the heart beat on his bass as well.

There are 10 perfect 🎸guitar solos in music history, “Time” is one of them!!! Thanks
More Pink Floyd Please !

Classic album
My **PULSE** was racing when you said you couldn't find any decent live footage.
I'm sure if they looked they'd find it on the dark side of the moon.
Listen to the whole album, please, from beginning to end. Nice reaction!
