- This is a such a beautiful moment in music history. Stairway to Heaven is such an iconic song and to have the 3 remaining members of Led Zeppelin literally in tears was something else to see. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but Ann Wilson was 62 years old at the time of this tribute, and she was fighting the flu. What a set of pipes!

Robert Plant is Jason Bonham’s godfather, he had invited Jason to the Honors Ceremony, Jason said he couldn’t because he had a prior commitment. So the band was surprised to see him there. I’m sure Robert was emotional, thinking his best friend John, should be there watching his son play. This is a beautiful tribute to the greatest band ever, thank you for your reaction, I hope you checkout a dive into Led Zeppelin.

FYI, This is NOT Heart’s full complete tribute performance of “Stairway To Heaven” for LED Zeppelin; this video is a SHORTENED version, with about two minutes missing. (It was edited down for broadcasting purposes.)
You REALLY should see the FULL performance, it’s a thousand times BETTER!
(The video of the whole performance is also on UA-cam; it says “FULL VERSION” in the heading, and the opening scene is of the building exterior.)
I don't recognise the guitarist but .. jeez .. the kid's got some big cajones ripping out that solo in front of Jimmy Page, an absolute legend of a guitarist. He nailed it !
He is Shane Fontaine, Jason Bonham on his dad's drum kit wearing his dad's bowler...quite a tribute.

If you're not familiar with Ann and her sister Nancy Wilson. Their band was "Heart" from the 70's. Check out their song "Barracuda" live in 1976.
Robert Plant hardly ever showed emotion, that was monumental. Ann Wilson of Heart is one of the greatest rock voices of all time.
Robert Plant and or Jimmy Page had invited Jason Bonham to be their guest for this event as a stand with for his father, but he said he could not attend due to prior engagements. imagine the surprise and joy when they realized this was the prior engagement.
All i can feel with and around this song (original , live, and live tribute) is just love!🤘❤🤟

KCH are annual and held by sitting Pres, this was 2012. Saw it when it aired.
Jason Bonham on drums insisted Heart/Ann/Nancy do Stairway, he's toured with them.
Jason is Plant's godson, very close, Robert asked Jason to attend, but told him he was already committed, so you don't see the intro, when they announce him, he points his sticks at Zep and laughs, Robert is standing pointing back, it was great.
The audience is filled with celebs/VIPs, like YoYo Ma world renowned cellist, jammin out, and Debbie Allen going to church with her raising up, the sitting Pres/wife, all in attendance.
Pretty impressive.
I think Robert was missing Bonzo, seeing Jason there, hearing and seeing just got to him.
And they used a youth chour to close it, they all wore Bonzo's signature boller hat.
This is probably the most popular cover of a song out there. 💞
Ann is one of the only women who can sing Led Zeppelin.
The drummer playing here, is the late John Bonham drummer of Led Zeppelin, his son Jason making his father very proud.

I'm not religious but performing this in front of Led Zeppelin would be a bit like reading the bible to God
I highly recommend checking out Led Zeppelin’s live at Madison Square Gardens (1973). Though this is the best cover or tribute to Led Zeppelin, nobody does this or any Led Zeppelin song as great as Led Zeppelin. Each member of Led Zeppelin is the GOAT of their crafts, together They Are The GODS Of MUSIC!

Has the added benefit of Ann Wilson's vocal being higher in the mix, so you can appreciate it all. Jason Bonham was invited by the band to attend but said he had another thing he had to do. So they didn't know he was there playing in the tribute until it started. Bonzo was Robert Plant's mate, so that's part of why he was tearing up throughout, seeing Jason there.
The drummer is John bonhams son, the original drummers son!
