  • I have a lot of patients come to see me thinking they have Fibromyalgia. But in my opinion, very few of these cases actually are and in this video I explain why.

Bang-on-the-money advice, Ashley. I have something else to add into the mix: pharmaceutical-related pain. I was prescribed a blood-thinning medication called Clopidogrel which intoxicated my body to the extent that muscles, tendons and joints bodywide were sore. After a period of two years, I started getting chest pains and itching/skin sensitivity. Ended up in A&E because the chest pains were so alarming! The result was that I stopped taking those tablets. And, lo and behold, all the joint and muscular symptoms I'd put down to getting old disappeared along with the chest pains and the itching. I'm now very much about eating an anti-inflammatory diet. Real food. Home-cooked. I'll be damned if I let big pharma and big food mess with my body with their crap products any more!

Thank you so much. Yes there are certainly certain medications that can cause pain as a side-effect, so maybe it would help people to make them more aware of these issues. I'm going to look up the medication you mentioned as it's not one I'm familiar with. If there's anything else you would like me to make videos about please feel free to let me know! Best wishes, Ashley

I am 74, a double breast cancer survivor, and was diagnosed with FMS in my mid-40’s, after suffering from severe sciatic nerve damage that was not addressed properly by my then-doctor. I also have profound gut issues, two of which I know are GERD and IBS, and another I strongly suspect is leaky gut, and now diverticulitis. Needless to say, I have been in chronic pain for years, and now I am having the typical pain symptoms of aging…low back pain, hip pain, etc. I am going to start on a KETO diet to see if any of my health issues ease up. I believe I greatly need magnesium; but, with my IBS issue, it rips right through me, causing diarrhea and painful gas. I find this to be a common problem with many supplements recommended to me over the years. Do you have any advice as to how I can successfully take magnesium? BTW, just because I was diagnosed with FMS and my symptoms meet the criteria for FMS you mention in this video, it does not mean I don’t have an open mind as to what might really be going on with me. I believe that too many of us are being diagnosed with FMS just because the doctors and researchers don’t know what’s causing our pain, so they lump us into this vague diagnosis, hoping we’ll just go away. I was very interested in what you had to say in this video, and I thank you for it. I am a Subscriber, and glad to be.

Hello, thank you so much for your comment! You have a very interesting story and I would love to follow your progress over time, especially with how you might get on with keto.
This is such an interesting topic and I could write for ages on this reply, but I will have more content coming out very soon that I think will help you piece by piece.
Regarding supplements right now, you might just find your digestive system is way too sensitive to take most things. If you were using a magnesium supplement it would HAVE to be Magnesium GLYCINATE and not a citrate, oxide or other lesser forms as they really will go right through you. If Mag Glycinate still doesn't work well then leave it all out for the time being and try to get it through your diet where possible.
I think an elimination diet could be helpful too to begin with.
Let me know if that all makes sense.
      Best wishes, Ashley

Ashley this is such a good video. You’re doing a lot of good work, that doctors just wave off with pills or referring out.

@@PrecisionWellbeing Absolutely! It would be awesome to hear more of your takes on nutrition and using that to manage inflammation. I myself have had to live with a chronic condition for most of my life, and alot of it improved when I eliminated processed foods, and changed my diet. Still, alot of this I had to use trial and error, as doctors weren't helpful in this area. When you mentioned nutrition, my ears spiked up and your comment on magnesium was illuminating. Would love to hear more on your insights in videos to come. Thank you again for your good work!

You are so right!!!! I have both the true Fibromyalia and intolerance to food. My gut got so bad that I even stopped digesting fats and my vitamin B12 was super low. (adding another level of pain and not sleeping!) I am finding that an elimination diet like the zerocarb/Gaps/carnivore/meat keto/ Beaf, bacon, butter and eggs. It is helping to heal my gut and help me figure out my triggers. The bigger help is that I can eat all I want and most of my pain is reduced a lot! I have a long way to go, but this is the first real help I have gotten!!! I still need to use your hip stretch routine or they tighten and are painful, but diet and stretching and I can garden again!!!!!

Hey Anne, it sounds like you are making great progress! I would also suggest following a 5R gut protocol (a Google search will tell you more about each of the 5 steps). I'm sure as your gut health improves you would also benefit from adding in some supplements. Also it could be worth looking into your Thyroid function too. So much you could potentially do so keep going! Best wishes, Ashley

I also want to add that doing many of your exercises helps reduce the general pain and can often skip my aspirin type pills for the day. I know getting those in the UK is hard, but in the US we have all kinds, but they still aren't good for your liver/kidneys/blood. 11 minutes of your exercises and stretching and I can make it!!!

I'm so happy to hear my exercises have been helping! I really should do some more of these! Keep going! Best wishes, Ashley
