Fibromyalgia: how to treat the cause, not the effects (symptoms)

  • f you have fibromyalgia it’s highly unlikely that medical specialists will ever fix you. They’re treating effects not causes. It’s the same for all the gurus with their latest revelation about the cause. I get messaged every day about the latest fad, whether it’s insulin, mitochondria, some diet, or whatever. They’re all symptoms or effects, not the cause. In this video I’ll show you the difference, then I’ll show you the research where scientists got it right, actually removing the cause and settling fibromyalgia down. Fibromyalgia can still be a tough condition, but at least this will give you a realistic chance of a good improvement rather than living on drugs and continually chasing the next miracle cure.

    My rheumatologist suggested vitamins, minerals and soaks in Epsom salts. The fatigue is bad, though. His theory was it was a shock. My husband died suddenly. The next year the physical pain and fatigue took me out. He did use massage and not western pharmaceuticals. That was in 1987. Thanks to this, I’ve felt better with fewer flares.

      Your rheumatologist's comments are what you would expect from someone who hasn't got a clue. The rest is not clear. Was it yourself or your husband that used the massage? Do you really mean that your husband died in 1987 and thanks to that you have felt better??

    I did dry needling and after a full series of regular sessions I can now go for a longer time in between. Note that getting the needles is a very painful proces when your muscles are in this state. Also meditation, mindfulness, a regular eat and sleep routine daily walks breathing exercises, a bit a low impact exercises and soms trauma work did help me a lot. I have a 90% healthy mostly biodynamic diet.
    I stopped most of the medications I was subscribed.
    It was a long and complicated process but I’m doing better. I’ve had fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue since I was a teenager.

    • @drgraeme
      @drgraeme  Рік тому +1

      Dry needling is a painful, expensive way to deal with the problem, and from what you are saying you just get temporary relief. Why don't you follow the video linked at the finish of this video and do some self massage that's more effective, less painful, and doesn't involve continued appointments and fees.

    Yes!!! I've been saying for years how the gabapentin is only a bandaid. I have done a lot of work on my fascial adhesions while also healing past traumas within my body. I'm a trained mental health therapist, and I developed fibromyalgia when I started working on my trauma during a stressful time of my life. Since then, I've built up mental scripts, learned to regulate my nervous system, and done rolfing. I'm trying ketamine next. I'm going to heal this. Thank you for validating my experiences. 💜

    • @drgraeme
      @drgraeme  Рік тому

      Hi Draven. Unless you've had some serious trauma most fascial adhesions are only in the mind of therapists (such as those who practice rolfing). Why don't you follow the video at the finish and use a far more efficient way of doing things.

    • @dravenalexander8050
      @dravenalexander8050 8 місяців тому +2

      @drgraeme It's fascinating that you completely dismiss the fact that facial adhesions exist. What references do you have that disprove fascial adhesions? I have taken many somatics classes and yoga classes that prove their existence.
      I do have a lot of trauma in my body, and adjusting the fascial adhesions has decreased my symptomology.
      It's bold of you to assume I didn't watch the entire video. The way we talk to people matters. You have valuable information, also, there are other information available to me. I chose to watch and respond, and instead of pulling out that I found validation in your video, you focused on what I stated that was wrong.

      @mr_moo_moo Hey! The ketamine has helped me relax my body better so I can be more in tune with it, and then better regulate myself. I've also been practicing pre-emptive rest, which has allowed me more energy into the afternoon. I take a 10 minute break every hour.

    Thank you for this information about massagers. The difference in vibration and percussion is critical information for me (and I'm sure many others). There are so many choices on Amazon that it's still confusing, but with your help, I believe I can choose a massager that works best for my body.

    Excellent video. You have great knowledge of everything. I have myofacial pain for more than 10 years. Then 3 years ago I had a back neck, snow ball on huge trigger points on my left arm, shoulder pain, neck pain, then I was hit with extreme sadness due personal problems turned to be fibromyalgia. Suffered for one year no doctor had a clue. I found out all by myself piece by piece and went to a rheumatologist to just confirm my suspicion but again no help just proper diagnosis. Lots treatments, massage, myofacial release, even trigger point injection which I told the doctor what I had and that I wanted the injection, she agreed and it helped a lot with the giant trigger point I had in my left arm. Diet (Dr Wahls protocol),stress relief, electric blankets, supplements. Etc etc I started improving little by little felt okay this year. Now is winter and my trigger points are all coming back, I have everywhere even on my scalp. I’m watching all your videos and will do the self vibration massage with the massager I already have, will do everyday. I’ll come back to tell everyone my results.

    I've been going weekly to a chiropractor which seems to help but I've found i need to go every week if not i get extremely "tight" and my flare ups are more. Dr believe i have fibromyalgia. The meds i have been prescribed made it worse with no relief. My pain is location is upper chest, neck, shoulders, upper, mid, and lower back. I DON'T get the tingling on my hands and feet. Sometimes putting pressure with a muscle hook helps me to continue my movement without it I'm stuck in pain frozen and won't move. I need help the Dr's I've seen don't know what to do.

      As a Chiropractor for over 27 years if I had a patient that got extremely tight every week I'd be scratching my head trying to work out what was going on. Is yours doing that or just accepting this with no expectations? You should be given much better advice than using those "muscle hooks". Try this ua-cam.com/video/EtLyL9zuAw0/v-deo.html

    I went on your other page to order one of your massager’s, and wouldn’t you know it, you don’t sell to the US. Is there a brand that we can get in the US that you could recommend? I’ve had severe fibromyalgia for 35 years and sciatica for the last two that is excruciating. Would this work for sciatica also?

      Unfortunately, most of the massagers available are percussion massagers, ineffective consumer machines (or both). The only one we could see for the USA is this one from a very reputable professional supply house www.scriphessco.com/products/scriphessco-muscle-master-massger-25-amps-3500-2800-rpm/

      Don't bother with the Deep Tissue Massager. It is an older model that is not as good. The other two will do a very good job, with the quad able to do a larger area at once.

      Happy to help Elizabeth. Hi had to look up FST. It's different to trigger points. Fascial stretching is not something new, and would be well known to most therapists. What we have though is "technique peddlers" who come up with their own recipe and story to make themselves out as gurus and charge practitioners for seminars and courses.

    Thank you for your posts, Dr Graeme, I hope you can help me.
    My brother has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and from your videos, it has probably been caused by constant pain from chronic arthritis in most of his body. Would the vibration massager be gentle enough for him to use? I have just spoken to our local Chiropractor and she says they use ultrasound with quite good success over about ten treatments and with some patients acupuncture seems to work well. Your help would be greatly appreciated as I hate to see an active man suffering in silence as I know he does, even under medication. Also, my husband is having chiro treatment for shoulder, neck and knees, would the vibration massager be a useful home treatment for him? He has old injuries to torn muscles in the shoulder and knee ligaments. Would the vibration massager help arthritis by helping blood circulation? He has had heart surgery and is on blood thinners. Sorry, doc, the questions kept coming as I wrote. Many thanks.

    • @drgraeme
      @drgraeme  Рік тому +1

      No probs, glad you are concerned about your brother. Nothing is guaranteed, but likely vibration massage would be gentle enough and successful. A lot will depend on what portion of pain is coming from the actual arthritic joint surfaces and how much from the related muscles. All your brother is likely to get from the acupuncture or US is temporary respite. Check this out for a better solution. www.drgraeme.com/articles/2022/09/how-to-massage-fibromyalgia
