    Hi Ashley! I’m really grateful for sharing your knowledge and experience with us! You know, as a massage therapist myself, I was dealing with shoulder pain for a long time, and before you uploaded the video I realized it is somehow associated with the vagus nerve! It’s a big lesson for me how gentleness is the “food” for the nervous system and how we should not ignore the stress factor we experienced in the past… caring and gentleness is not boring or useless. After 14 months in pain after I started bring awareness what kind of information is in that area, my receptors felt attention and caring with understanding, so my pain immediately started to dissolve! Just a reminder for me and everyone who deals with the same problem. A lot of carried stress emotion (anger, sadness etc) is carried till you release it. How you can release? When you realize you don’t have to carry! You can face it, feel it, understand it, and let it go from your mental body. And not just working with muscles but stimulating the receptors by gentle massage. So, thanks a lot! 🙏

    Your holistic description of the function and complexity of this nerve system is really helpful. This is a hot topic in the Counseling world for working with trauma and you expanded my knowledge of this important system. I’m looking forward to the next video with exercises to support it.       You're welcome. I cannot say for sure because I have not seen any direct research or results from my treatments of patients. Theoretically any manual therapy to the neck could influence the vagus nerve but I would also think that the work would need to be carried out regularly, like daily, over a period of time. But in combination with a number of other interventions could be helpful. I hope that helps. Best wishes, Ashley

      From personal experience, I'd say avoid chiropractic adjustments. I was adjusted mid-January 2024 and have been experiencing more neck pain as well as tingling in face, neck, upper back, and chest. My chiropractic adjustments have caused me to lose a lot of sleep due to trouble getting comfortable and avoiding neck pain/face tingling.
