    Once again booneman you accomplished perfection. Now a driver signature on the bottom of the chasis would top her off

    Love the history and the build. Makes me look at my race cars differently, because in real life, my car was spotless only at the start of the SCCA season back in the day.

    1971 Daytona 24 hours was the first race my parents took me to and I have been hook ever since. Between what I remember and what my dad told me here you go: Roger Penske purchased the two Ferrari's 512M in 1970 to take on the 1971 World Sportscar Championships. Both cars were rebuilt from the ground up and Penske assembled a dream team for the 1971 season. The combination of Mark Donohue and David Hobbs were ready to take on might of Porsche. So to the crash, David Hobbs told my dad this: Just before midnight Vic Elford in his #4 Martini 917K blew a rear tire on the banking at speed, hit the wall and spun and then rolled, causing a big dust cloud. Donohue slowed to avoid the car and debris but a following Porsche 911S didn't and plowed into Donohue causing massive damage to the body and suspension. The Penske Ferrari was patched up and would eventually finish a respectful third overall. My dad always felt that if not for that accident Donohue and Hobbs had a good shot at winning the race. - Agreed, the car, the livery and the driver(s) are important to me when collecting my car. The cars my wife buys are because she likes the they look. Thanks for another fun video and love the history aspect. -P.S. Did you use tiny Duck Tape to make the Donahue's look post shunt? 🤣 Sorry for the long read, but it just brought the memories flowing back to me.

    I could watch this type of content for HOURS. You do a fabulous job demonstrating techniques and you don't play a bunch cheesy music and fast-forward the videos! You really are an amazing artist/craftsman.

      That was one of the really cool things about that time in racing. Not as many rules , so the innovation that was created and advancements in thinking outside the box really brought us some iconic cars.

      @BoonesSlotCarGarage even here at all the local tracks, and really the birthplace of Asphalt Modified Racing. Whelan Series. All built their Own Chassis in their own garage. Now there are 4 or 5 MUST have Chassis and all the PART$ That go with that cha$$i$. Kids with no talent and Daddies with fat wallets. Wreck fests

I would be overjoyed if you would use your expertise to give your non biased opinion of the multitude of various ho slot cars . I am sure it would be of interest to many ho enthusiasts especially to me thankyou booneman looking forward to your insightful reply your friend cal

    • @BoonesSlotCarGarage
      @BoonesSlotCarGarage  Рік тому

      Hey Cal , as far as HO cars go , I prefer the older stuff. Mainly because of the slower speeds. Not to take anything away from the new cars. The details that they have actually packed in the little1/64th body is really impressive. But the speed is just too much. But that’s my opinion. But I feel that the slower speeds and lack of magnetic fields improves the experience.
