Pros
- Uses many of the same parts as the Bugs 5W (controller, motors, propellers, camera, battery).

@@scottmoseley5122 The X5 EPIK is a very nice drone with one flaw: (at least in my case) it tends to burn out ESCs at a far, *FAR* greater rate than what I might consider "normal". :-(
I've been through five (5) of these guys; one was "destroid" in a crash; the other four have blown an ESC -- sometimes the failure occurs mid-flight so that the drone simply plummets to the ground causing additional damage. :-(
The video quality is surprisingly good with no jello.
I like the metal silver look and the brand, even if it's clear that the logos are easily switched in this industry :) and it works well!

I just got one of these a few days ago and although the video isn't great, it's good for looking for things on the ground. Where this drone shines is in the photos. For the price with the quality of the photos it's very hard to beat. Another thing I found out was that even though it's a 5G drone it will work with 4G phones and the range is very good. Honestly I like it for taking photos better than the DJI Spark that I had. I'm flying mine with a Motorola Moto G Power 2021 without issue.

Nothin like having the whole entire desert all to yourself for a day of drone flying & not a tree or single thing to run into. I have to try that as soon as I find a desert here in the Pocono's.
One thing you can do to see your drones better up in the sky is to get some bright green or orange even red or yellow 3D tape works. You need the high visibility safety type 3D tapes and so far the only place I have come across the stuff other than Graphics shops that might have some on hand. U-line has the stuff buried deep in their catalogs and their net pages R insane as well but they have it. Guys like us use it on our race car and show car trailers. But the real colorful non safety tape stuff isn't as popular as the common safety 3D reflective variety. The 3D stuff really stands out in the sky. So for U half blind drone pilots or eye sight & beer challenged folks the stuff is a must have.
I'm routinely rewarded with almost-16 minute flight times on mine. Betchya that once your flight battery has been conditioned, you'll see a similar increase in your flight time as well. :-)
Could you fly this and the Bugs 5w together with out interfering with one another

Ce l'ho da circa un paio di settimane, che dire è un prodotto validissimo l'unica pecca è la stabilità della cam.
Vibra parecchio ma devo dire che io ho apportato anche una modifica che forse l'ha appesantita troppo e quindi sono aumentate le vibrazioni.
Ho aggiunto le antenne a 5 Ghz esterne a fungo per aumentare la portata del WIFI, ma non è stata una mossa azzeccata infatti la portata è sempre limitata ma le vibrazioni sono aumentate.
Per il prodotto in se è molto valido soprattutto se uno si avvicina da neofita a questi oggetti volanti.
Il fatto di poter limitare la distanza e l'altezza da più sicurezza a chi come me ha provato la paura di perdere un drone perchè vedi che si allontana sempre di più e tu non puoi fare nulla e andando in palla peggiori solo la situazione.
Voto del prodotto sicuramente 9/decimi ma solo perchè i filmati vibrano, mentre per le foto sono molto ben definite e nitide, se i filmati fosserostabili avrei dato 10/decimi anche rapportato al prezzo.
Acquistatelo senza paura di sbagliare.
You really need to get a quad ATV so you can put the follow me modes through their paces.
A couple of questions:
1. Do RTH drones, either in manual RTH or low battery RTH or lost signal RTH "hop" obstacles on the way home? Say, if you go out 150 meters and on the way fly 150 feet altitude to get over some 100 ft trees, then fly lower to do a pan of something at 25 ft, if you hit the RTH button or the battery gets low and RTH kicks in automatically, does the drone return at the altitude it is at when RTH engages and crashes into the trees you flew over, or does it gain altitude and RTH along the same path and at the same altitude you sent it out on?
2. I forgot the second question...LOL.
EDIT...Remembered the second question...LOL. In Follow Me mode is it following the transmitter or does it recognize the human form? If it recognizes the human form what happens with 2 or more people close by? Also, does it recognize the human form is oddly shaped, like hunched over the handlebars on a motorcycle or ATV?
It depends. Most drones first climb to a specified height, then return. The exception may be low battery return, where the drone might return at its current height.
As for follow me, that also depnds on the drone. Most toy drones are following the GPS of your phone. The exception is those with optical follow me. In optical follow me, you draw a box around the subject that you wish to follow, and it will follow it.

On your reccomendation I got this quad. GB had it on sle for $119 and I couldn't pass it up DESPITE it's wifi only working on 802.11ac and my phone not being that version. Now I want a phone that will only be an accessory for the drone, not used as a phone or getting on the internet or having other apps. Everything I read about this drone says it needs "5G AND 802.11ac" as though they automatically go together. When I search on GB for "802.11ac" it brings up two phones, and the lesser expensive one says it is 4G but also 802.11ac. Will that phone work with this drone despite being 4G? Very nice combo of features. The video is still kinda bad, exposure and WB jumps, and low bitrate, but the brushless GPS and under 200 ? Very nice !

not very loud, seems like I could not hear it through your microphone until it was about 10 meters away. My Mavic Air, I can hear it over 100' up
I have a problem with Google maps cuz doesn't open or show me where I am.
Before starting the drone, try opening the app to see if Google maps will load. If it does, zoom in around the area that you wish to fly. This will save the map information in your phone. Then start the drone and connect to its WiFi, and restart the app.

Question, have you tried to use the remote controllers from both drones between drones. Reason is that my JJpro controller is missing and I cannot find who sales a replacement. All I find is for the Bugs drone and want to make sure if it will work with the JJpro drone. Will appreciate if you can tell me your results if possible so that I can order a Bugs controller. I can't guarantee or check as I no longer have these drones., but I'd say there is a good chance. If you do attempt to try it, you will likely need to bind the controller the first time you use it. To do such, first turn on the drone. Then hold down the red button on the controller, while simultaneously turning on the controller.
What should i buy? The jjpro x5 or the tello? Which one is better in terms of video and pictures?
Do all drones require Compass Calibration everytime you start up? It is annoying to need to do that every time.

Just unboxed my new JJRC X5 EPIK drone from GearBest. After powering up the drone, I used the gimbal button to adjust the camera up and down. After the camera adjusted down, IT IS STUCK! The motor just hums if I attempt to adjust it. I am returning this defective product.
Bought this drone a while ago, however, only just received a phone with 5g wifi. I enjoy this drone, but, it does not seem to be able to fly higher than 17meters. Can you confirm what flight height you achieved?

I can't remember if this drone has a beginner's geofence option in the app. But it sure sounds like it does. Click on that gear "settings" icon in the upper row. See if the menu options have distance and height restrictions that you can turn off.
Are the 2 switches directly between the sticks inoperable?
The left switch turns GPS on and off. Make sure that it is slid to the right for GPS mode. The button on the right turns headless mode on and off. Sliding it to the right turns on headless mode.

My samsung mega picks up the 5g signall but its to old for the app very annoying.
Can i connect to this drone through comfast 5ghz repeater(he can connect to drone which is 802.11ac and then it shares 802.11a/ac/n 5GHZ signal) and my phone is 802.11n 5Ghz. No it will not work as the 802.11n connection will relay in 802.11n, which the X5 would not be able to connect to. To use the JJPRO X5 app with this drone, you will need to use a phone with 802.11ac WiFi capability. There is no other way around it.
@@Quadcopter101 I got JJPRO X5 EPIK and I use it with my 802.11n dual band phone. So you can use it without 802.11ac. Look at it on net. 802.11ac is backward compatible.
Can you do aerial mapping with this drone?

Yes, you can still fly it with the controller, and record video the the SD card. But you won't be able to view real time in-flight video on your phone, or use the drone's advanced features of follow me, circle position, or waypoints.

Hi! Did anyone has any problems with a camera quality? The taken footage should has a 1080p quality, but my drone is taking only 1280x720, for both videos and pictures. I already try to contact JJRC, but there is response from them :/
Where are you downloading your video file from? The drone directly records 1080p to SD card, but only 720p to your phone via WiFi.

you probably didnt calibrate gps properly
@@YZFMANIAC08 Well, according to the indicator lights on the underside it was calibrated properly. You have to calibrate this drone each time before flying.

Hi, I work for a mobile phone company and thought the same as in a 5G data connection but it's actually a 5ghz WiFi connection. Most phones work. Access your modem settings and check if your modem can connect on 5ghz.
I've just bought my partner one (both drone fans) and he has a Samsung galaxy S3 (will not update his phone no matter how hard I try because he doesn't like them full stop lol) and it works perfectly

That is a good question that I don't know the answer to.
After checking into this, TomTop's price is high. But they want you to use their coupon HY47MJB to save $47. With the coupon it's about the same price. Also other vendors are selling both drones for about the same price.

@@Quadcopter101 Thanks for the information. I am looking for a low cost drone with reasonable still photo resolution. The DJI Ryze Tello has a 5 megapixel camera but has the maximum altitude of 10 meters. Any suggestions? Shall I retrofit some drone with a better camera without loosing the FPV?

C I have the v2 Jumper. Whatever I do, whatever I try, I cannot get windows 10 to recognize it in DFU mode. Yes, I’ve tried everything. Sadly, it’s getting returned to Amazon. Hopefully will have better luck with a Taranis. Only thing is...no flying my Bugs Mini with a good transmitter unless I swap out the Mini board and motors and rebuild it into a proper betaflight machine....now..that just might be a good wintertime project.

This camera has no stabilization. So it depends on how much wind there is when you fly. I fly early in the morning as it's usually the calmest part of the day.

No, you can not do any of those. It is necessary to connect with a 802.11ac capable phone to use any of those features.

Did you try the steps shown in page 19 and 20 of your instruction manual? The following is the instruction manual for the MJX Bugs 5W. But it should also be applicable for your drone ufile.io/uo759
@@Quadcopter101 Yes I did and could not connect. Eventually I opened the app first, then the radio, turned on the drone and I got a video feed! I do not know whether it is a matter of sequence or not, but it has been a touch and go experience.

1) turn on the drone and place it on a flat and level surface.
2) turn on your controller and wait till you hear a beep confirming bind to the drone.
3) then open your phone's WiFi settings and connect to its WiFi signal (the same way that you would connect to your home WiFi signal). But note that there is no internet. If your phone gives you a "no internet" warning, just ignore the alert.
4) once you are connected to its WiFi signal, then open the app and you should then be able to see the video..
@@Quadcopter101 Thanks a lot for responding. For me the above sequence does not work. It has worked only when I turn Bluetooth off, open the app, turn on the radio, then the drone , connect to the drones WiFi and go again to the open app...that is when I get the fpv feed!
Can the map be set at satellite mode? It would be more realistic as youncan see the objects around the drone...

You may have gotten dirt in it. Turn the drone upside down (so that any dirt can fall out of the vent holes). While holding the drone upside down, gently turn the problem motor by hand to help dislodge any dirt inside the motor. Continue doing until all dirt is dislodged.

Lo siento, pero el Huawei P9 Lite no funcionará con este drone. Tendrá que usar un teléfono con 802.11ac WiFi. Desafortunadamente su teléfono no tiene este tipo de WiFi.

You may have lost bind. But it is very easy to regain bind. First turn on the drone and place it on the ground. Next press and hold the red unlock button while simultaneously turning on the transmitter. This puts the transmitter in binding mode. The controller should search for and automatically bind with the drone. You will only need to do this once. The controller should remember the drone and automatically bind with it for future flights.
