I purchased this drone when it first came out and keep the batteries charged a bit over 25 to 30% to void deteriation or being full charged as they get ruined stores fully charged because of the materials. I charged both batteries now and took one out and flew it and was amazed after all this time even with some wind it was a nice day to fly so I ran it and used it until return home kicked in and really enjoyed it and then cme back in and watched your old full video. It is an amazing place where you live and I enjoy your video again after several years. I do have many other DJI from mini 1,2, & 3 pro, Mavic series 1 Platinum, the 2 pro with Hasselblad, and the new 3 Classic and I still enjoyed this old bird a lot. WOW! That is really impressive. I was shocked, we have been waiting for something to come along that was less than a Spark but had the features that LeAn could have to learn to really fly with. We just didn't want to spend DJI money and buy the Fly More to risk losing 500 learning to fly. I really think this could be it. Under 200 hits the price point and it has some of the features, GPS, 1080p some ability to control the camera. I can't wait to show this to her. Glad I listened to you and abby over the years I have purchased over 25 drones thanks to your great videos luv my drones it all began with the bug's 3 drucon blue one that's how I learned from being flying one with out GPS have the bugs that's got a sensor built on the bottom great drone no GPS but it sets still because it is a small bugs got it for 50 dollars bugs makes some great drone s and I have some GPS drones and are in rc cars and trucks luve them too been collecting for over 5 years and it's all thanks to you getting me in the hobby luv thanks again for posting great products too purchase and have a collection of rc boats luv the hobby Nate and abby have told me what to purchase and what not too purchase thanks again your the great people and very honest I like that you don't sugar coat it just too sell the product you're honest and I like that you don't see that anymore keep the great work up thank you again Mike Holden out of north Carolina said that

Excellent review - this looks like a quad that has a small learning curve (compared to the more usual racing type quads) but has a lot of features at a reasonable price point - a good mix. Interesting feature of Follow Me following the phone. Some other drones, like Yuneec, follow the transmitter, but really how many videos do you need of you walking with a transmitter in your hand. And it means when you get out of frame the drone has no problem finding you again and continue following you. Unlike DJI drones that use camera object recognition and if you walk out of frame it gets lost and just stops and hovers. Though following an object rather than a device is much nicer for video production, this JJPro isn't a high end video production drone. This seems like a nice little drone for the price. My first two drones were non GPS and very frustrating at first, I crashed a "lot" before I finally got the hang of throttle control. I would have loved to have had GPS and a tilting camera when I started out. This seems like a nice beginner drone.
Hello RC Saylors was fortunate today to see your review of the Crystal Sky DJI monitor. And kudos to pilot skills. When you reviewed the JJPRO on the unboxing part you had the same reaction as myself on the phone holder plastic thing. BUT to be fair to JJPRO upon farther use of the device it's really well made. I have to say I’ve watched a lot of video reviews. I wanted some bells and whistles, but didn’t want the price to jump out of sight. I started watching the Saylors vids because the hs120d might of had potential. Also the hs700. These reviews seemed very honest and had a homespun warm appeal. The review for this one did it for me and I pulled the trigger for this, along with 3 batteries for about $165. It will be one I can learn with, without too much worry. Great job!

It is a great drone. I like the way it records directly to a micro SD card in the camera. I have a backpack style carry case, extra batteries, an extra charger and extra props including some 3 blade props that seem to work well. I use the included phone mount and have never had a phone fall out of it. I have used it to take family photos by letting it hover in GPS mode and press the photo button with the controller behind my back. I do balance my props for silky smooth flight vids. Just ordered one today after tons of research I chose this. Got it for $185 on Ebay. They are on there for way more, some of these models are going for over $300 now. Mabe I'll be able to find my kids toy drone I lost I a swampy farm field that's all overgrown. I cant walk all through that overgrown grass and bryers, lol. Good video.

I ordered this drone through your link, w/3 batteries and they threw in a bag. 160 bucks w/shipping. Probably have many questions. Will ask one, where is the Sim card slot? I’m Just getting into RC stuff at the ripe old age of 68. I purchased a 3 channel park flyer and then decided to buy a drone. I saw many reviews, including this one on the JJPro x5, and thought this had some good features to start with. It came with just a basic charger and after doing some homework, I bought the Venom pro duo. Now I find out that the batteries are proprietary and the store guys said the venom would not work with them. Is that true? I bought a tester to tell me the battery state, but how do I balance and storage charge them? I like the drone so far btw and plan to buy a good beginning plane by Spring.

I got my drone in the mail yesterday and took it for a test flight. Loving it so far. Got two batteries with it and charged them over night to fly again today. What charger would y’all recommend using for a faster charge than 5 hours?

I can't find you guys review for the Bugs 5g. Have you done one yet? I understand it's almost exactly like this one. Nearly every UA-cam Drone reviewers have done one but could't find yours.

I bought this Drone and wanted to share my finding. When recording or taking a picture through my phone, without a mini SD card installed into the drone the video and image is 720p. But if you use a mini SD card the video and images are 1080p. Thank you for the great video.
Nice little drone seems to be a good budget option. Thanks for sharing. We do love our DJI Mavic Air but sometimes lower cost drones are a nice option.
Actually, it cost me $170 with two batteries. I didn't know about the flash sale until it was far, FAR too late. :-P Anyway, I'm certain to have a blast flying it regardless -- if what I saw in this video was any indication! :-)
I received mine on 12-17-18 and she flies beautifully. :-D The only negative is that for reasons as-of-yet unknown, on 12-30-18 the video (both live feed and saved on the MicroSD chip) became rotated 180° so it is upside-down. :-/ However, I snagged a freeware video rotate program that runs on my Windows XP computer so that the videos of flights I upload to UA-cam are in the correct orientation.
Yeah i bought mine on the 1st and they said a couple days to ship, i talked to them today and they told me it wouldn't ship out until like the end of the month. I told them no either get it shipped out in the next couple of days, or i want my money back and now they have changed it to the 16-19.

I am new to drones and looking at a decent starter option for recording holiday videos such as at the beach, coastal walks, get some nice views etc. I dont need crazy distance but decent camera quality, easy gps features and okay to carry and transport about. From your reviews the 3 that look like the options are 1. JJRC JJPRO 5x 2. Potensic D80 3. Kingtoys MJX B3 They all have good reviews and on amazon UK they are almost all identical prices with some difference about accesories e.g carry case or extra batteries. What would you recommend please?... :)
You are absolutely correct, there are more and more badge engineered MJX quads appearing including Eachine branding. It now makes more sense to be canny when buying, for instance the model here you are reviewing is available for $ 126 or £96 from Aliexpressin the for us brits is we do not have 5g phones, I stick to 5.8g , all in all a good value for money though.
I just got a hubsan 501s x4 advanced a couple months ago for about the same price. And really love it. This looks as good. This one could be next on my want list. Really good for the price. And i agree it needs a better phone holder. Thanks for the review. 👍👍
I'm about to get another drone, would you rather have the jjpro or the jjrc x7?? Flight time and altitude is what I'm really looking for in this price range for sunset pics. I like those quads who can do follow me with help of its yaw. I mena Hubsan does a great job following, but it seldon yaw by it self. So this one you can have kinda close, while Hubsans you have to have a little further away so that it can follow you without yaw. But I noticed that you can yaw on Hubsan manually at the same time. lol. Wish I as a Swede were a little closer to you guys. Seems to be a blast flying with you. :-)
Any update on this drone 1 year later? Those that have this drone, how has the reliability been? Thinking about purchasing my first drone and the price point of this one looks good to me! Are there other drones in the same price territory now (Aug 2020) that I should also consider?

I've had two EPIK drones and they both summarily (and inexplicably) fell out of the sky; both were "destroid". :-( I saw the second one fail yesterday; the port (left) rear motor pooped out while the drone was airborne. :-( Let's see if I have any better luck with the MJX Bugs 2 that I ordered a bit earlier today.

I just ordered this for $119 from GearBest. A question...when using "follow me" or "circle me" is it following the transmitter or does it recognize the human form and follow the person? If I laid the transmitter down and walked away would it follow?

I interested in seeing what the app for these drones looks like. If you could also add footage of a screen capture then that would be nice. I’m interested to see the OSD. Could probably download the app myself anyway....
I can't find you guys review for the Bugs 5g. Have you done one yet? I understand it's almost exactly like this one. Nearly every UA-cam Drone reviewers have done one but could't find yours.
Is it possible to install an aftermarket gimbal and camera (if available) on this drone? I just purchased this model and I'm waiting ever so patiently for it to arrive. Great review by the way!
Is that small connector on the charger a jst? I have a Hitec charger that I could probably charge the battery quicker than the included one.

I bought this Drone and wanted to share my finding. When recording or taking a picture through my phone, without a mini SD card installed into the drone the video and image is 720p. But if you use a mini SD card the video and images are 1080p. Thank you for the great video.

Actually, it cost me $170 with two batteries. I didn't know about the flash sale until it was far, FAR too late. :-P
Anyway, I'm certain to have a blast flying it regardless -- if what I saw in this video was any indication! :-)

I received mine on 12-17-18 and she flies beautifully. :-D
The only negative is that for reasons as-of-yet unknown, on 12-30-18 the video (both live feed and saved on the MicroSD chip) became rotated 180° so it is upside-down. :-/ However, I snagged a freeware video rotate program that runs on my Windows XP computer so that the videos of flights I upload to UA-cam are in the correct orientation.
Yeah i bought mine on the 1st and they said a couple days to ship, i talked to them today and they told me it wouldn't ship out until like the end of the month. I told them no either get it shipped out in the next couple of days, or i want my money back and now they have changed it to the 16-19.
thanks for the video. The hubsan 216a looks like much better video, almost stabilised, would you pick it instead if footage quality was your key factor (also cheaper)? What do you think the max range would be on this X5? thx

Hi. Thanks for all your videos. I am new to drones and looking at a decent starter option for recording holiday videos such as at the beach, coastal walks, get some nice views etc. I dont need crazy distance but decent camera quality, easy gps features and okay to carry and transport about.
From your reviews the 3 that look like the options are
1. JJRC JJPRO 5x
2. Potensic D80
3. Kingtoys MJX B3
They all have good reviews and on amazon UK they are almost all identical prices with some difference about accesories e.g carry case or extra batteries.
What would you recommend please?... :)

You are absolutely correct, there are more and more badge engineered MJX quads appearing including Eachine branding. It now makes more sense to be canny when buying, for instance the model here you are reviewing is available for $ 126 or £96 from Aliexpressin the for us brits is we do not have 5g phones, I stick to 5.8g , all in all a good value for money though.

I just got a hubsan 501s x4 advanced a couple months ago for about the same price. And really love it. This looks as good. This one could be next on my want list. Really good for the price. And i agree it needs a better phone holder. Thanks for the review. 👍👍

I'm about to get another drone, would you rather have the jjpro or the jjrc x7?? Flight time and altitude is what I'm really looking for in this price range for sunset pics. I like those quads who can do follow me with help of its yaw. I mena Hubsan does a great job following, but it seldon yaw by it self. So this one you can have kinda close, while Hubsans you have to have a little further away so that it can follow you without yaw. But I noticed that you can yaw on Hubsan manually at the same time. lol.
Wish I as a Swede were a little closer to you guys. Seems to be a blast flying with you. :-)

Any update on this drone 1 year later? Those that have this drone, how has the reliability been? Thinking about purchasing my first drone and the price point of this one looks good to me! Are there other drones in the same price territory now (Aug 2020) that I should also consider?

I've had two EPIK drones and they both summarily (and inexplicably) fell out of the sky; both were "destroid". :-(
I saw the second one fail yesterday; the port (left) rear motor pooped out while the drone was airborne. :-(

Good review. Bought one for a month ago and still waiting until i get this drone in my hands.
If you switch off the GPS off and say there was a loss of signal, would the drones internal computer switch it on again for the auto return to home.

I just ordered this for $119 from GearBest. A question...when using "follow me" or "circle me" is it following the transmitter or does it recognize the human form and follow the person? If I laid the transmitter down and walked away would it follow?
How do you charge these proprietary batteries without using their cheap, SLOW chargers? Can you use the Venom duo or the SkyRC Imax BC?
