President Zeman isn’t technically the leader of the Czech Republic (Czechia). The president of czechia is a formal head of state who doesn’t have any significant power over national politics. The president is sort of like a monarch. The real “leader” is the prime minister Andrej Babiš.
And most of us hate both of them, Zeman because he is making us look like... you saw it, and is too east, and Andrej because he's just catastrophe from slovakia (i'm sad, bro's), with a populist ANO party that 28% of the country somehow votes for. Also because of his party we have half bilion crowns budget deficit because of corona, but possibly not for one year and of course not used optimally, more like paying seniors for votes, and the shame. He also basicly steals grants from eu with his AGROFERT company, that also owns a lot of czech media (of course not all), and they both won't do anything about each other. But, hopefully, in the next elections they get out voted

The country El Salvador was named after a man named Salvador, that in Spanish translates to "Savior" refering to Jesus Christ. So, the president of El Salvador is named after a country named after a man named after Jesus.

OTOH, that phenomenon does happen occasionally, as with Julio Argentino Roca, president of Argentina from 1880 to 1886 and from 1898 to 1904, and his son Julio Argentina Roca Jr, vicepresident between 1932 and 1938

The Czech Republic has a parliamentary system, so the Prime Minister is probably closer to being a country leader than a president (Canada ain't ruled by the Queen, you know)

Wow, you did a really good job! You hit the nail on the head about China buying influence in small countries. I spent 6 days in Dominica (doe-men-EE-cah), NOT the Dominican Republic. The Chinese built their port, extended their runway and installed lighting so planes can come in at night, and built them a sports stadium so they can host games of Caribbean league soccer. A big thing there are the whale watching excursions, yet they vote in line with China to allow whale hunting. Hmm. It's a cheap way for China to buy a country's vote in the UN.
Similar situation in Vanuatu. Half of the shops are run by Chinese people, the only real industry there is owned by the Chinese, and even the roads were rebuilt by the Chinese.
I am scared today that the Chinese government didn't just giving aid help to other countries to buy their votes in the UN.I believed they wanted something more, something that would make them independently prosperous without the US help
To be fair, being from the Dominican Republic, I can tell you that the recent establishment of relations with China and the projects that Chinese companies are planning here are going in that direction, and probably worse.
Disclaimer: In Czech republic is a president more like ceremonial head of state (something like general governor in Canada) real political leader in our country is prime minister.
ps. C'mon JJ look at map we are literally in a middle of Europe so we're central european not eastern european. Geografical difference and much more culture difference. This is THE THING which will always piss of everybode from Czech, Poland Slovakia and Hungary. Yes we were part of eastern bloc but we're not eastern europe :D

Great video, I appreciate the effort you put behind this series, but I would like to add some info. Miloš Zeman, the president of the Czech Republic is a populist, but I wouldn´t say he is a right-wing populist. Between the years 1997 to 2002 he was a member of Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD), which he represented even as a PM of the Czech Republic, which is undeniably a left-wing socialist party, and since 2009 he has been a member of the Party of Civic Rights - Zeman's people, which is also left-wing, but populist, and supports direct democracy. Zeman is a honorary leader of this party. But it is true, that throughout his 5 years (and another year) in service, he has gained the support of the Movement of Freedom and Direct Democracy, which is right-wing, anti-immigration, would love to see Czechia leaving EU, and is extremist. (His another supporters are: the communist party, movement ANO).
And ANO is something like Forza Italia.

Hey JJ. I had a quick question. In your Anglosphere videos, and when talking about the Anglosphere in general, you usually talk about Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Would you consider Anglo-Caribbean countries (Jamaica, Trinidad, Guyana, etc.), South Africa, or other African countries (Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, etc.) a part of the Anglosphere?
I would have to look into them more before I could say!

It's been 1.5 years since this video came out. When will the series be resumed? Also, because leaders have changed in the past year or so, you could do the leaders as of 2018, or just start a new series on democratically elected leaders every century and do a video on leaders in 2000.
Once this is over he’s going to have to do a spin off for every new ruler.
