Great video , day to day I love my smart watch, especially for tracking workouts and cardio. But when I don’t want a smart watch I have. Casio Pathfinder , Solar and atomic . It has a compass, altimeter, barometer. Love this thing!

I used to hate quartz, I've matured a bit and love them again!

A solarquartz Seiko diver (e.g. SNE573), and a variety of strap options for each situation (rubber, nato, bracelet, leather).

That's a very under rated under appreciated Seiko. I have one and wear that little thing everywhere. It's been beat to hell in 2 years but would still wear it to a wedding and such.

    MichealDavSmith on X:
I'm impressed by people who know that a watch is to tell you what time it is, and sometimes to use as a stopwatch in your workouts. Inexpensive watches do that just fine. Wasting a lot of money on a watch as jewelry is unimpressive.

The quality of this channel always blows me away you deserve way more views good sir. It bothers the crap out of me when people don't wear watches and they always have to whip their phone out to check the time or date. As much as I don't like them I always end up going back the digital watches. Had a vostock it broke, went to a timex Iron man. Thought I found a holy grail with a citizen solar diver until one day the face detached, I think its from the vibrations from the forklifts I use. Now I'm back on the timex expedition command.

Many thanks! For high vibration environments like vehicle cabs, have you looked at pilot watches? Digital watches are hard to deny a functional tools. Believe me I have a Casio addiction, ten here, ten there, lol

I’ve been thinking of what to replace my Fitbit with. Since the charge 4 got rid of the altimeter I’ve been thinking of getting a less trackable watch. I really dislike smart watches and have been thinking of getting something nicer but simple.

There are many, many interesting options out there. It's a whole new world.

Hey i run a nato strap on a luminox dive with compass, what compass are you using and where did you get it ?

It was a cheap Cammenga compass that a buddy gave me when he bought it at the PX. I tend to hoard that kind of stuff, lol.

I haven't yet found the perfect watch, so I bought a Casio G-Shock "Rangeman" instead lol. I'd been buying the Walmart special G-Shock lookalikes for years without even knowing what they were copying lol. I wanted to buy one more watch and then never have to worry about having to keep replacing a Walmart special every year or so and this was the cheapest option that also has the compass - would've been nice to have the tidal stuff with it but they force you to choose between land and sea, basically heh. I could afford it, at the time - now I'm broke and busted but at least my watch is good-to-go lmfao
Is DEET the only chemical that you know of that negatively affects G-Shocks?
Would be nice if someone would make a watch similar to what the PinePhone Pro is to smartphones, or something like a cross between than and what Framework is to laptops ...
Sorry about your Dad! I was lucky that my half brother, who owns several businesses, paid for our Mom's Hospice :

Time will always turn, never discount that! It's tough, it's happened to me, but hold fast. My watches have primarily been gifts from people I've worked with, it must've been a cosmic watching sign for me to manage my time wisely.
Fuel also damages the resin, it made it ultra pliable and sticky. Or it could've been more DEET. In the polite world I've never had that problem, and I'm not sure if I said it in the video or not, but I like washable and non porous straps for work. You can wash off nasty fluids and make sure it's clean asap, unlike nylon and especially leather. I'm sorry to hear about your mother as well, may she rest in peace. Dad's been gone for years now, but I still think of him every day.

@@SaltStackActual I wish all my gadgets were as easy to clean as my watch is but I only come into contact with isopropyl alcohol or flux from occasionally dabbling with electronics and soldering lol
So far, so good *knock on wood*
Would be nice if sapphire was the standard for screen "glass", with the flexible polymer coating over it - just imagine how long screens could last and how much abuse they could take!

    • @SaltStackActual
      @SaltStackActual  Рік тому

Lol careful with acrylic and the solder, I learned that the hard way lol! There's always trade offs, the hard balance is because of the occasional bangs and sudden shocks from hitting stuff with your arm. The only excels looking glass is on my g shock that doesn't even work right, but that's a monster watch

    • @3nertia

@@SaltStackActual Acrylic? And the brittleness of sapphire is why it absolutely needs to be coated with that thin flexible polymer they use for some phone screen protectors lol
Combined, it should be fairly resilient

Lots of the cheaper watch "glass" is just plastic, and a good read is here - theslenderwrist.com/watch-glass-explained/
