You should always open the knife first so you can use it for unboxing everything else.
I agree 👍
I second that motion.
To keep this series going you should do a student edc (one that favors pens over knives) photographer edc (favors flashlight) fashion friendly edc ( color coordinated) ans so on so you can redo the same 50 dollar budget then 100 again in the future.
Spifferson I’d love to see your comment come to life 👍🏻
I second this notion.
@@Morrigan_DeDesarux I third this
Great idea!
Great idea!
The diffuser is great for camping. Use a carabiner to hang it somewhere inside your tent and it gives you great light to read by. You can also hang it from the zipper pull of a jacket or off of a necklace to light up the immediate area in front of you, which can be really helpful for camping over a cookstove or playing cards at a picnic table.
I have that exact belt clip for my keys, I love it. I have torn belt looks in the past, this connects to my belt directly and works great, used one for about two years now
a good way to keep your budget down is to broaden your search beyond specifically EDC items - often you pay extra for something just because it's 'EDC' and you can find comparable items for less if you look further afield from the usual stuff..
a few alternate suggestions - the stainless steel Parker Vector ballpoint comes in black and looks cooler that the Jotter and there's the stainless Pentel Energel, Seiko's Pulsar range of budget watches are good. There are excellent knives that never seem to make it to the EDC sector, some of the european makes are really good value - there's more to euro knives than just Opinel...
The Parker Jotter is the pen you needed for this EDC.
Pls. make a series “EDC (item) under $...”
Maybe do a series where you start at $50 and each episode you get $50 to improve. Upgrading an item each episode or something. Great vid though.
I like this idea!
Great idea.
I love this idea.
I agree
Tom Morris EDC Hunger Games
Do $200--I'm guessing this is the sweet spot for really decent stuff.
I wear that Timex expedition everyday at work and love it! Fantastic watch for everyday, and I typically wear divers. It’s a Timex, so you know that the movement is solid and will keep great time, mine has been on the same battery for over four years now and still keeps highly accurate time, within milliseconds. Also on the subject of the lume, the watch does have indoglo, which is handy at times and lights up the whole face, but the watch does have lumes on the numerals and hands. The trick with the lumes is that it really has to be completely dark, and the watch needs to “charge” in the sun to produce the lume, and then the lume doesn’t last all that long. But before I get to far into the rabbit hole, I love this watch, dirt cheap and tough as nails! I’ve since replaced the band with an older Timex expedition leather band because I wasn’t too keen on the green nato. My only gripe is that sometimes when I pop gloves off they’ll catch the crown and pull it out, I’ve since worked around it by changing my technique for pulling gloves but whenever I’m swapping pairs several times over in a transport (I work on an ambulance and will occasionally go through several pairs of gloves in a short time) I’ll occasionally still catch it. Other than that, I’m absolutely in love with the watch!
Do the Wal Mart $50 and $100 EDC.
Bucky Knuckler that would be so awesome not everyone uses amazon
Yes I'm a poor lol
I’ll do the Walmart one lol
I've bought 2 Cutjacks for gifts and have been wanting one for myself, but always end up buying something else. Kinda like the Mora that's been in my Save For Later for years. When I saw the Cutjack drop down from $43 to $29 and available in OD green, well, that's the definition of a split second! The action gets better with use and I finally got the clip adjusted so I don't need two hands to get it out of my pocket anymore. Really enjoy it in my rotation. I think it is just perfect for a $100ish EDC.
I think a themed twist on this concept would be very cool. Brass, copper, titanium, micarta, etc themed edc on a budget of 150 would be something I would definitely be interested in watching! Great video, keep up the good work!
Would love to see a student EDC Weekly theme! As well as themed variants of this style of video.
Also, I have been using the zaktools for a little while now, loving it so far, just wish they could be lightened a little, though I understand they're used extensively in police communities.
I am enjoying this series of videos. I would like to see you moving up to the $150-$200 range and including a multi tool in the mix. That would be right around the budget I am working with for my edc. Keep up the great work, man.
Love the Zac Tool key clips, number one belt key clip with law enforcement and corrections. Been using them for about 12 years. And as seen before I am a big fan of that Timex Expedition watch.
I've been using my Zac tool clip for about 1 1/2 years now and it's great
The Jotter is lovely. Doesn't matter how many pens I use I still keep getting back to it. And I love the grey/gold version
I ended up with a lovely 20$ cross cuz i couldnt find the Jotter...
I bought a RAT O2 five years ago for my first knife to try and get used to EDC. Its still the only EDC knife I have.
Nitecore Tube. USB rechargeable $10 flashlight.
Pentel Energel Alloy gel pen, $8
Opinel 6 or 8, $12
That leaves $74 for watch, wallet and keychain.
Or $24 for the $50 budget.
Never thought of an opinel that’s pretty good.
Bryan Stone only thing with the opinel is that while it’s a super good knife, for edc people want things to be convenient, most knives that fit in this category aren’t double hand opened. Second thing about opinel is that in the rain, the handle swells making the blade hard to get out. And the third thing is that the blade isn’t thick, so for some edc tasks it may bend.
the opinel is a good blade my little bro carries one, but like zb matt says it has alot of draw backs for a EDC blade that can be fixed by spending 12 or 18 bucks more
@@zBMatt in some countries you are not allowed to carry a one hand open knife.
Yes the wood can swell, so you need to be careful whem cleaning the knife. I like the feel and simplicity of the opinel. I have multiples and my kids both have one too.
Watching you go over budget for the timex expedition scout in the same color that I have on really made my day tbh
😂 I was determined to make it work.
Let's do $150. When you get to $250 I'll be happy. That's my safe budget
So, this will cost a little more but this is all great EDC starter items all under $50 USD each. Total Cost: $223.94 on Amazon.
Knife: ESEE Zancudo D2 OD Green $33.44 usd
Flashlight: Streamlight Microstream USB rechargeable Coyote Brown $28.94 usd
Watch: Timex Expedition Chrono Black/Green Canvas $45.30 usd
Wallet: Herschel Supply Co. Charlie Leather Wallet $29.80 usd
Pen: CRKT Williams Tactical Pen $46.47 usd
Key Organizer: KeySmart Rugged Mossy Oak $39.99 usd
Because of this you will be able to upgrade items over time but give you a lot of flexibility at the start. You will have quality in each item so you can upgrade as you choose and never feel like anything is cheap.
I hate the concept and existence of money, and capitalism.. It scares me for humans well-being 😢😢
@@jacobbcox1985 Thank you, I appreciate it. I'll look into these. The wallet I've had my eye on is the vaultskin minimalist wallet
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess lmao what's the alternative? Bernies socialism?
Worse AOC and Elizabeth Warren. At least Berine isn't crazy anti 2nd amendment but he is far too anti 2nd amendment for me.
Another awesome video. I never heard of the whip kit until your $50 video. I love that idea.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this kind of video! Keep up the good work!
Taylor I just popped into your discord @Notloc and within minutes I already found a mechanical pen that I've been looking for That was one of the best experiences I've ever had you got some good people in there keep it going Nice job with UA-cam stuff as well I like the variety
I've used the Zac Tools key holder for 8 years at work for my work keys. Literally use it every day. Suits the purpose and at 5 days a week for 8 years taking keys off and on multiple times a day it has not yet lost any retention.
Love my Streamlight Microstream and the Rat 2 D2. They almost made your list. Great video.
Honestly I don't care if your opinion is popular or not. We are all different and that's what matters. It 's what makes us special and I love your videos. Keep up the great work buddy.
To each his own but my wallet is where it all begins. My most valuable items are there. Hate your choice. Forget the flashlight that's what phones are for. I'm a contractor/superintendent so I use flashlights far more than most.
Love the watch. Have same one not a loss if I break or lose it.
I have that same belt clip as well. I use mine on my duty belt when I work, carries jail keys wonderfully! Sturdy and it's easy to get keys on and off!
Used it back in the day when i did security and still use it now as an hvac tech
Lmao do a $1000 wierd flex but ok EDC
More Yes
Dude- Im getting addicted to your channel! I am a new sub. You got class! Not a lot of people like or do hundred buck pens!
Flashlight diffuser is a super handy photography tool.
It's 2am and I am watching a video of a guy make an EDC. My life is in the right place.
Three days to mull it over; any advice, for someone doing the same?
Parker Jotter Pen in stainless steel can be found for 12.99 and can be used as an impact tool in an emergency situation if needed. It also takes Space Pen refills with the adaptor included
I have been addicted to your channel since discovering it. Awesome content man. Keep it up. I look forward to your videos all the time now
Just started watching your videos, good stuff, appreciate it.
Defuser is nice to use when reading or looking at a map.
For the next one I highly suggest the “Anker Bolder P2” it’s an awesome rechargeable flashlight that will also take AAA if you are in a pinch and only $16ish
Back when I was in high school I used to go to my buddies and hang out while he and his friends were smoking out on the back porch. They always complained about the lack of light because turning on the porch light was to bright and would wake his parents. So I had a thrunite t10 with a diffuser so I would stand that up on the table so we could see what we were doing. So that’s basically the one and only use for a diffuser lol.
Love these videos. Maybe you can try other places instead of Amazon. Like going to Walmart or other stores with a budget. Also, the student edc idea with a focus on pens and notepads is a good idea.
I'm glad to see another video I enjoy watching them.
I love that NC hat. I love in Charlotte as well. Stumbled across your content and the quality is top notch.
I have been using that flashlight for about a year. I like it a lot. Carry it in a pocket organizer. The pocket clip broke in about 15 minutes of carrying but otherwise very good performance.
I actually love using diffusers on my flashlights. I have a red one I use with about a portion on one side taped, I use it to read maps at night and it's fantastic. Just something I experimented with while in the army and I always have it in my edc
This is the video I've been waiting for!!
These videos are so satisfying to watch..
When you do get a Zebra X-701, you'll like it. It writes very smoothly and has a nice tactile feel.
I have great expectation for the 500 box edc all on amazon
flashlight only AA or 14500
Quality gear but not overboard a lot of struggle to make decision but the budget to make an awsome edc start
I love these types of videos Im only in high school so budget friendly EDC's are right in my area for prices
It makes me feel really good that you're praising the Timex Expedition Scout so much, because I just bought one on a whim this weekend and it showed up today and I absolutely LOVE it for the price...the one I got has the OD green strap instead of the regular watch band, though...I think one of the next ones I'm shooting for is one of the Seiko field watches, it's quite a bit more money, but I've heard good things about them and I like the look of them...
I wrote that with the video paused, and when I read the list in the description of the video I realized you actually end up buying my exact watch!...now I feel REALLY good about accidentally stumbling onto a watch that you ended up liking enough to want in your budget carry...
$200 is the sweet spot for me. $100 watch, $30 knife, $30 wallet, $10 key lanyard, $20 pen, $10 mini flashlight
You made me happy. Also, great show man, thanks for listening to us all and taking feedback. We all want to see you be successful and hope this success continues for many years to come!
Thank you! That really means a lot. 🤘
Under $30, Ruike p-801 is the best in my opinion.
Good action, steel, size, blade shape and length.
I was about to comment the same thing
@@nicodiaz627 It's the only under $30 framelock knife I'd even trust. Only con is they tend to have sort of soft screws I:
I recently got the lumintop tool ti.. Its a great little light!! I might buy the alum one also.. I really like it!! Great video Taylor! Have fun rocking your budget edc😝 no good edc shots for you in the discord😂😂
I love my Timex Expedition Scout! I also bought the solar version (no Indiglo, light up hands and numbers)
The Thrunite T10 is a pretty solid flashlight for its price point so it might be worth picking up at some point. It makes its way into my carry frequently enough. You aren’t really missing much on the Zebra X-701 it writes descent enough but feels a little cheap and the anodizing chips off like nobody’s business.
I would like to see a budget EDC based around the Kershaw Leek. Considering it’s a good budget knife option it would be cool to build an EDC around that. You could even get a nice color pallet going with all of the leek color options.
I had not seen the Zebra X-701 before. I've been carrying the F-701 with the F"402 mod and a fsp refill for several years and love it. I'll have to get the X. Zebra makes the finest writing devices for the price in my opinion.
I'd like to see that zebra tactical pen in one of these vids looked interesting. Really liking your vids man keep it up!
Great video Taylor. Still convinced that you're the Frito Lay , "crunch on" guy.
Whoah the diffuser glows in the dark! I don't know why, but it does.
Great video. You should think of doing a budget EDC with a box cutter and multi tool.
Definitely keep the series going! 👍
Parker Jotter 1mm is my all time favorite ballpoint. Such a nice pen for signing docs.
If you don't keep going with this series I'll cry
Good choices i also have both the budget friendly edc as well as the higher end. Because of my OCD and addictive personality i really dont have one of anything. But i did enjoy this vid and thought ur choices would be items that i would carry, thx for sharing!
You did awesome. I enjoyed that very much.
I don't have the lumentop but my little Fenix with a diffuser was great when power went out at our place!
can you do another best $150 complete budget everyday carry? and then another series at $50 increasing intervals?
5:52 I have a rechargeable flashlight that looks exactly like the one in the middle from Amazon and I'm totally satisfied with it. I don't carry it with me every day but I take it with me if I'm camping.
Diffuser is good for reading registrations and licenses at night without blinding yourself or fighting a glare
I do use diffusers. I like to read with flashlights (I know, I could just turn on my house lights). The difusers helps to make it more confortable.
I just use a bic crystal pen for my edc, it's cheap, strong, and if you lose it you can buy them almost anywhere.
turns into shrapnel when bent good idea
Man, I always amazed when you flick the knife. Maybe you can make a video on how you flick your knife.
It would be interesting is you were to do the same exercise with a sponsor like BladeHQ or some alternative like that.
As always, interesting and entertaining!
Keep up the good work bud!
This will be a great one my question is with summer coming and sweat where can I get a great hank I got one beard and owl which was great but were else can I get some cooler patterns?
Love it man, THANKS for SHARING
The Zebra F-701 is a good pen and is "tactical" capable without looking tactical. With the F-301 insert, I use it much more than my Cross pens.
I have that budget Ekloen brass pen, its the real thing, soloid brass and I’m happy with it. If I remember correctly it can use pilot g2 to refill. The only thing I don’t like about the pen is that the cap does not post. But not all models are the same. Search the brand see what you can find. I have about three of them and I can’t complain
I’ve carried that Thorfire flashlight for a couple years now, and it’s a great beater light for a cheap price!
I’d love to see an expensive higher end style, which is what you show sometimes, but just all at once, mostly just to you know opinions on more costly things
You should check out some of the Apache Pine stuff. I have a wallet that I've been carrying for almost a year now and I absolutely love it.
the best i can do is 5 bucks- rick harrison's edc
I have the Timex Expedition Scout and would easily buy a 2nd. 6 years later and I am still on the same battery. I get comments on it all of the time and little do most know I only paid $35 for it in 2016.
Thanks for the vid..FYI the Lumitop brightness isn't Low High Middle...it STARTS with High then goes down, as in Middle, then low haha
Otr m3 pro or mecarmy sgn5 for about 20usd also good choice for edc light.. Both USB rechargeable 900 and 500 lumens respectively on turbo 😊
I would add a 7th item... A lighter.
I would choose the SS Parker Jotter most days in budget EDC.
For me, a reasonable cost is $250 add cash as an 8th item for EDC of $20-$60 means leaving the house every day with $300 worth of tools to function with.
A possible list includes a Citizen solar field watch such as BM8180, a D2 knife likely R2D2 but other under $45, Sharpie Ultra Fine, Zippo with Thunderbird insert, Nitecore Tip or MecArmy SNG3 ($30) for USB recharge, etc.
For most of life the rule of thumb for many EDC items is not more than 2 hours gross. Depending on ones income determines what is budget... A retail worker ($10-$12) versus a nurse ($30+) is a big difference when looking at 2 hours gross, then consider position that are 6 or 7 figures where $500+ knifes or $5000+ watches are budget for that income.
National US average around $25 per hour or $50k per year. Many are above or below this mark. But at average... 2 hours gross is $50.
If took 8 items (including cash) assigned at $50 average is $400 budget. For me 10% is cash thus have $360 to spend for 7 items.
Someone at $12 per hour would have starting fund of $192 and may choose to keep $20 in cash.
That Timex watch is very good in its price range and even better than some expensive ones. Really good pick!
Built this with $2 to spare shipped after tax and no compromises in under 10 minutes.
Casio is backlit, '10 Bar Water resist, and date complication:
Total = $98.09 (Shipped with Prime)
OKC Rat Ii Sp-Black - $25.07
Casio Men's FT500WVB-5BV (Forester) - $19.92
Streamlight 66323 (AAA) - $20.41
Fisher 400B Space Bullet Space Pen - $18.61
Travelambo Front Pocket Minimalist Leather Slim Wallet - $7.99
What is the W+ at 11:50 in? Some kind of coupon app?
For a pen I just want something that writes smoothly and cleanly with no clumps or skips... I could care less how it looks. So far I've been loving the Uniball Signo 307. Writes very well, is light, and is cheap so if it gets lost, broken, or someone takes it, it's no big loss. In a 9 pack on Amazon they're a little over $1 a pen. I also carry a mechanical drafting pencil with retractable tip (to prevent tip damage). It's a bit more expensive, but still both pen and pencil are around $10. I got the pencil as I hate how Fisher space pens write and the pencil can still write on a waterproof notebook when the paper is wet. If you're not as picky as me concerning how well your pens write, just get a Fisher space pen of some sort. They'll write no matter what, just not very cleanly or smoothly. lol
Zebra pens actually good cause how it moves lead around
Hey Taylor I got that watch anout a month ago and I love it its great.
Could you do a $100 EDC for UK viewers? A lot of the stuff which is cheap in the US is like double the price in the UK 😭
Just subscribed, love these challenges. Due to the insane inflation going on in this country, you should reboot and do them over.
I bought one of those Ekloen brass pens, and aside from the insert, really like it.
Pentel Graphgear 1000 is probably the best pencil you can get for $10. Retractable tip, aluminum section, great overall. Not sure if they make a pen version though.
The Fisher space pen refills will fit the Parker Jotter. Have been doing this for years.
What kind of magnetic quick release do you have?
Really enjoy these videos. Do a 150 dollar budget next! Lol
