Love watching these box building videos. They are a prime example to show customers how much work actually goes into building a subwoofer box. In my shop people aways ask me "why so much"& "it's just a box why do you charge so much" and my favorite question "does the box even make it sound better" and all of these are great questions to ask a installer. As a installer I bought a eBay special $45 box for a single 12. And I built a box for a single 12. (Rockford fosgate p1) both boxes use that woofer. That way when people tell me it's just a box and it makes no difference on how the speaker(s) sound I show them a example of why you need a custom box built for your exact subwoofer.
Man just a young EXO I learned so much from you. I actually bought a soundstream trantula 12 because of one of your builds back then. Thanks for all the great content man.
I plan on a center port with a similar box. I have my pass through the trunk and the armrest is removable but is still functional. After watching you load that one into the trunk I'm inspired to build it in the trunk. That was a job in itself.
So crazy to see videos from so long ago compared to what videos look like today 😂 I was born in 2004 got my first phone 2013 and still remember how difficult it was going from the first phone I’ve had to a newer one around 2019
Nice video. I haven't built a sub box in about 13 years. I use to have 3 12's JL Audio W6's and I made a sealed box for them. Each sub had it's own chamber. The one important thing you want to do first is take measurements of the inside of your trunk. This of course is to make sure your box will fit in perfectly. The last thing you want is a box that's too big for your trunk. Take in consideration the trunk lid/door hinges and trunk hatch cylinders. They can get in the way when closing the trunk.
Was thinking about making my own bandpass box again. Been years lol. Like 26 plus years ago. Be for a 2003 Saturn Ion this time. Nothing special, either a 10 or I have 2 different pairs of 12's. Was thinking 10 then work my way up 🤣. Excellent video once again.
@@EXOcontralto awesome vid EXO I'm making a fourth order BP for my ride right now and i know it's ages ago but I really need the name of the track that you had on in the car the first one. thanks X oh and what subs did you use um just curious about em but yeh i defo need the name of that firat song you played when you first got the box installed and went for the ride out. thanks man.
Whhhat the heck, this is yur first 4th order. Dang. Ive seen u do some crazy stuff woulda thought u woulda tackled one of these along time ago lol. Im just finishing my first 4th order as well [only like my 5th build] but oyeah mad props on yur jigsaw skills. True backyard build! Lol. I had to get myself a plunge router and a circle jig - screw the crooked lines lol keep it up buddy
I'm new to bandpass boxes but I have been researching 4th order enclosures today. Couple questions: * Why did you do double wall speaker walls? * Why did you use such a large port diameter? The larger the port diameter the longer the port has to be. * What is the air space requirement for the front chambers of the speakers? Doesn't look like much.
martymor69 girls only hate the loud audible bass if you get your thing turned down to where she can feel the bass and rattle that coochie she will have a whole change of tune literally LOL

My subs, one so far, it's foam has dry rot, I thought my plywood cabinet was rattling at first, the HE2's are about 10 years old, wish I had inspected them closer before putting them under the bed in my van, I am gonna have a hell of a time getting them out, have to redesign my bed to make it possible to get access to them later. I would love to get another box built, I like that setup.

Best vid in ages Man,getting demos is good but we all want to see your shit like this more, great build vid, couple of cool tips and any bird that lets you film her inner thigh bass flexin must be super cool!!!
I know this is an old video but i wanted you to know you inspired me to keep plugging away at making my 4th order fit with a 8 inch aero port in my 2019 nissan versa sv. The subwoofer is a fi sp4 18 v2.1 dual 2 and im going to be running it on a taramps smart 3k at 1 ohm with a 350 amp alternator and 40 ah lto lithium battery. The chambers are pretty close to 1 to 1 with the sealed chamber being 3.60 cubic feet net and 4.43 net ported to 40 hz. Im hoping for at least a 140 to 142 db at a burp.
Nice build... from a construction standpoint if you want to add rigidity to a box like that rather than drilling into endgrain you can cut a dado in the top and bottom pieces to receive the vertical pieces. You could use biscuits for alignment and a 1x1 firring strip down the side of each panel to screw into from both sides so you avoid endgrain.
Nice setup, guess that's why you're going to Goodwill for a shirt. Seems Bandpass is once again slowly making a comeback. It's a lot of work to do just for something you'll probably swap out next year if that long Exo. Although I don't get the fascination of having a 200 lb+ loaded enclosure that takes up the entire rear space of a vehicle and lower gas mileage just to have more bass. I think the point of subs is to complete the music, not to over accentuate it.

Hey Exo, getting ready to do a 4th order build in a month or 2. I have 2 questions. 1. Is it better to have the speakers in the same space in the sealed section or have a wall in the center separating the 2. A wall would add support from flexing, and maybe sound/work better? 2. Square or circle port? My first enclosures where square and they where more vibrate, if that makes any sense. where my circle port was more blaaarrrhh! Which from what ive read as long as there tuned the same shouldnt make a difference, the difference between the square and circle ported enclosures i made is the circle was not sectioned, each speaker could see each other, all sharing the same air. Whereas the square ported boxes where like your standard ported boxes each having there own ported compartment. So this kinda plays into the first question, would a wall in the center, separating my 4 12s, add to the vibrating? Ive done a ton of searching and i cant find answers. Thankyou!

Just one question I have if you took the time and rounded off any square points made them more easy for air to move couldn't you get more sound with ease
So how would you calculate the sealed and ported sections...Would it be like having 2 boxes in one? Meaning calculate the ported section like you would normally and then make the sealed section half the cuft?
