  • Hey, everybody! Today we're helping our buddy Wesley build a brand new ported subwoofer box! We'll explain all the steps taken while building and tuning this big enclosure. Hopefully these helpful tips will give some 1st timers more confidence to make their own homemade sub boxes!

looks like this woofer still has plenty of excursion left to break in and use. Once the power level and box volume are fine tuned, we'll be able to play this setup even closer to it's maximum limits! Bass songs - test tones, you name it - This install should be able to play ANYTHING once we're done tuning amp settings, adjusting internal cubes, and finding all the weak spots that vibrate in the car. For now, we ran the speaker wire through the port until we can add official terminal cups. So far these Level 6 15 inch subs are VERY IMPRESSIVE sounding. Good job DC Audio! She's slamming much deeper now too :) But why wouldn't it with over a 100 lbs subwoofer, right??? Just about the biggest size before the lower back starts breaking... Bottom line...Crazy hard hitting lows - Great bandwidth with nice and loud peak spl frequency around 40hz tp 45hz... Not sure on the loudest decibel score yet, but it's way deeper than we thought. Overall a huge success and a really fun way to connect with car audio friends :) THANKS FOR WATCHING THIS 15" VENTED BOX PROJECT!

28:41 I can totally relate to his smile when the bass kicked in. That's how I felt when I put my 20yr Fosgate hx2s in another box and realized how much better they sounded with the new box.

@um me you're so wrong man! Fosgate subs and amps from the 90s and early 2000s are amazing products. Once they started making shit in china is when they went down. But to say they were good only in the 80s...you're so wrong. I belong to a fosgate facebook group and all the gear from the 90s and early 2000s are so highly regarded and sought after.

Whenever I laminate sheets of plywood together like that I start off by oversizing them at least a quarter of an inch because they drift around during the glue up. After the glue sets I take it back to saw to cut to final size. Glad to see that you do the same.

Went from the k9, which still thumps but it’s like a sloppy dudd sound of bass if you what I mean just isn’t clean ,but nothing close to the my new level 3s which i love .. I hate Rockville which was a painful lesson I had to unfortunately teach my self.. Thanks exo

Project construction adhesive in chalking tube works great for stuff like this. Also helps to fill-in imperfections.

This is why I’m here. I watched part one thinking there was a part two. I have an almost verbatim build so I was curious how they would turn it around and wall it off. I’m interested since EXO said it will sound better and mine are rear facing.

I love using 3/4" birtch I use that or shop oak on my sub boxes and laminar flowhoods. It's heavy-duty and easy to clean.
