neither were the same after the first bout as well .. interesting facts Frazier only boxed 11 more times after fight of the century////Ali boxed around 30
I never understood why Joe Frazier would have to step in the ring again with Ali to prove who was the true champ. Ali had already done that by knocking out the monster who destroyed Joe Frazier and took away his belt ( George Foreman) Joe Frazier tried twice to beat George Foreman and the results were devastating. Muhammad Ali did what Joe Frazier unfortunately could not do,(beat George Foreman).Ali didn't just beat George Foreman,he K.O.d him.He did to George Foreman what George Foreman did to Joe Frazier. My point is that Joe Frazier could never be heavyweight champion again with not just Muhammad Ali in the picture, but George Foreman as well. Joe Frazier never understood that it was not just about him and Ali, but the whole entire package in a fighter's career that makes you heavyweight champion.
Foreman is most likely the strongest boxer to ever live so of course Frazier lost by K.O when his style revolved around getting in close and brawling out his opponent. Foreman would've beaten Ali just as bad if Ali tried to meet Foreman blow for blow like Frazier did, I can't speak to whether Frazier would've been able to beat Foreman if he used the same tactics that Ali did as he had his vision issues but it is possible. TLDR: Frazier was a real contender for the best boxer of that time/era in boxing, Foreman was just the worst possible opponent for Frazier to go up against.
I agree Frazier beat Ali there first fight and in this fight Ali wasn’t even going to come out for the the last round he said that himself Frazier was going to come out
Frazier took a terrible beating. His mouth piece was knock off by Ali's punch. He could barely see and had his head swollen and bleeding. How he was able to stand was amazing tho. Ali clearly punished him here.

Frazier wanted to keep fighting for the 15th round but his trainer, Eddie Futch, already gave him one last chance for round 14 as he was pretty much gassed out and nearly blind and didn't want him to keep taking damage to his head like a speed bag. Frazier protested and claimed, "He can still sense him" but Futch told the referee to stop the fight. Hell Ali was the one that wanted to quit after the 14th and told Dundee to stop the fight but Dundee ignored the request but was saved of Futch forcing Frazier to retire before the 15th. As Ali's bio said, "Frazier quit just before I did. I didn't think I could fight anymore."
Ali definitely dominated from when joe frazier was almost knocked out of the ring in the beginning up till the mouth piece was knocked out of joes mouth to the part when Ali laid the 2 piece and joe took couple steps back till the end when joe was swinging at air stumbling around catching combo after combo looking like smashed hamburger//Ali was so tired from punching bazooka Joes face that he collapsed after he new the bout was called off

@@babulah8447 true, but he should've been penalized. It's been said he held Frazier over 130 times in that fight, that's at least 10 times per round which is an awful lot. I do understand his strategy though, same in the second Spinks fight, tie them up to keep them from punching. Ali was a master of the clinch, using it to rest, to tire out his opponent, to stop his opponent from punching, etc. He used it masterfully against Foreman which tired George out. Pushing and leaning on his back to weaken him. Very intelligent fighter Ali. In the 60's his legs were so great it was his first line of defense and they carried him out of trouble, didn't have to rely on clinching as much. Frazier and Spinks are very aggressive fighters so I get why Ali used the clinch strategy. In the third Frazier fight the ref wouldn't let Ali hold, constantly pushing his arm off of Frazier's neck and head which made Ali have to fight all out which I liked, it was hell for Ali but it showed more than ever what he's made of, a great win for him!
@@youtoo2233 It's only a foul if the referee calls it. Frazier's strategy was to put his forehead on Ali's chest to negate the reach and hand speed advantage held by Ali. Everything else, especially the blow by blow call and the post fight commentary by so called pundits, is of no count. Few, if any, Frazier fans mention the fact that Tony Perez stepped in prematurely during round two to save his ass. Frazier was in deep trouble backing up as Ali was preparing to pepper him with a patented combination. Could Frazier have survived? We'll never know.

It wasn’t ideal strategy against Frazier, Ali was resting on the ripe because he got tired, but Frazier keeps beating up his body and worsening his condition, even Ali’s coach told him many time to get out of the rope.
