I am 50 years old, I have never heard anyone do as a good of a job breaking down a fight, you are truly talented, it was like I could feel what both fighters were feeling. Thanks so much..
Imagine getting hit by Frazier 440 times and still be in the ring. Ali and Frazier were never the same after that night. This is the greatest fight of all time and always will be.
Dude😅😅😅I just watched it now and my comment was not even about the fight. This commentary is excellent! I knew the outcome of the fight but the commentary kept me in suspense the entire time😂
Thank you so much everyone. It's absolutely crazy I got to make these and it's your interest and support that allowed me the time to. I appreciate it and I hope to continue with these for a long time to come.
If you are taking suggestions: 1.Mike Tyson versus Evander Holyfield (both fights) 2.Roy Jones Jr versus Montell Griffin (both fights). These vids are awesome bro
I can't imagine fighting in a ring thats 110 degrees better alone taking heavy punches and giving your all in the process...legendary isn't enough to label these 2 guys.
I think it was Ali that claimed either before or after the fight that he lost at least 5 pounds from dehydration. The heat in those days leading up to the fight had to be beyond brutal. I was stunned. Ali should’ve retired after this fight.
@@Ripa-Moramee I remember that very well < one camera was pointed right at the action and Joe went off the ground and landed on one knee < He was badass
The Fight of the Century was Frazier’s night, Superfight II was Ali’s night, but the Thrilla in Manila belonged to both of these gladiators in the ring.
2nd fight ali used a trick which is now an illegal trick.. Which is mugging.. A taller fighter can use this method to reduce stamina of his opposition and set up punches and also break the rhythm of the fight.. But yes ali won it and deserved it
Totally agree. Neither one held anything back. My God they were both great. Those three fights were electrifying. Alot of people I guess from the media and Joe and Ali thought they hated each other. That was never true. In reality they were friends. Both men were great promoting that fight.
Cept Ali wanted to throw the towel in the last round. If the ref had gone to his corner first instead of Frazier's it would have been a victory for Joe.
@@Kagemusha08 that just false rumour, ali win in the scoresheet, dominated frazier in couple last rounds and had better conditions compare to blind frazier, there is no reason for Ali to quit.

“He had trouble staying awake between rounds” “Ali thought he was dying”….. holy moly… I’m starting to realize this was one of those sports moments where you had to be there to really understand how big it was.
@@dominiquejones3805because that’s what they are. that ring is their soul. They put everything they have in the line and give everything they have. That’s what makes them the best
It wasn’t until I started sparring and until I got into my first real fight that I realized how truly remarkable Ali was… when you get tired you feel like you’d rather die than keep fighting… it’s sooooo hard to overcome that… much respect.
Respect to both of them. The fact Ali fell and Frazier didn’t was wild too. I woulda laid there for 5 minutes lying saying I need medical attention and wouldn’t have cared about having my arm raised st that point. Also this fight should have never taken place at a temperate of over 94 degrees 110 or whatever it was.literally is hest stroke territory even without the sunlight!
@@briannovak7651 Also the fact that frazier couldn't see by the end of the fight, yet still continued to come forward. What a man, truly insparational
Joe Frazier was one hell of a fighter and is so underrated, he had a whole lot of heart and spirit and made Ali fight like never before. This is in my opinion the greatest match of all time.
Norton was his style of fighting was he was alis nemasis but joe took him him to another level and the same as ALI TOOK JOE there careers and fights will always be defined Foreman despatched both norton and frazier in 2 but Ali stopped Foreman in 8 styles make fights as much as Foreman took out Frazier , Frazier by far was a harder nut to crack Ali feared no man especilay in the ring but he always knew he was gonna be in a war with FRazier people talk about Ali and Tyson on these boxing Forums but i do beilive 500% that Tyson was a front runner and not in TYsons wildest dreams could he take what joe took in those fights and keep firing back till the last second dont get me wrong tyson had quicker punches and an array of skills but he came up wanting when the shit hit the fan Jpoe had a far supierer will to win and absorbsion of punchers and a better chin and stamina i believe Ali would have stopped Tyson quicker than Douglas did the fight would have been won by Ali before the 1st bell with his ind games and supierer ring IQ
Was 10 years old, standing in the living room watching with my dad, both cheering both fighters on...even at 10 I knew this was something special...I'll never forget it.
I was born 04 man words can't describe how jealous I am of those who witnessed this in real time. They had no idea that gold they were watching. What was it like man?
Put it this way. A billion people watched The Rumble in the Jungle and the Thrilla in Manilla live. Roll the superbowl, olympics, world series, soccer champ into one ball and you won't come close to what Ali was.
The amount of technicality Ali used in this fight is just crazy, he is definitely in my opinion the most superior technical boxer of all time, the way he adapted according to his opponents and changed his strategies every round is just baffling to watch, no matter how big, powerful or tough his opponent was he always beat them with his fight iq, certainly the greatest boxer of all time!
@@ceritapulliam696 yes Ali was absolutely Great. Joe Frazier fought Ali for 44 rounds ( no other boxer did) Ali said ( at the end of round 14 of Thrilla in Manilla) "Cut em off as Cut em off ( in regards to his gloves) . Fraziers corner, Not Joe , Threw in the Towel. WATCH THE FILM.
No fighter in history can match Ali for ring IQ. Frasier is one of the very few who matched him for heart. The gorilla thing was Ali's lowest moment. I'm not sure Frasier ever quite forgave him for that, and I think it's something Ali came to look back on, rightly, with regret.
Alistair Hann I think Frazier did forgive him. In 2001 Ali offered his apology, and Joe said this: "I'll accept it, shake his hand and hug him when I see him. We're grown guys. Why we been biting off bullets? We have to embrace each other. It's time to talk and get together. Life's too short."

@@dimcadallapeorgantone993a4 this isnt accurate. Ali said the hardest he'd ever been hit was shavers. He also said he'd beat rocky. The only person Ali ever accepted as being better than him was sugar ray Robinson(p4p...obviously). Im sure someone will counter quote me saying he did say that other fighters would beat him but those were out of respect, and you know this because he also claims to be able to beat all the other fighters.
Scariest thing I’ve ever heard a man say in response to a boxer, They got in the ring for the first fight and Muhammad said, “don’t you know? I’m god.” Frazier looks at him dead eyes and says, “god you in the wrong place tonight“ Two absolute legends
These two are not human. No one can take that kind of punishment and stay standing. If you wrote a movie script like this, no one would believe it. An epic battle that used every bit of experience, skill, energy, guile, stamina, will-power, and guts. Stunning.
Exactly they've got to be from a different planet.. Standing in the scorching ring fpr 15 rounds is a feat in itself... Taking face/body bombs is impossible.
Especially given the heat. Apparently, it was over 30c in the ring under the lights, with severe humidity. Show me a fighter at any weight class today, with all the conditioning and supplements now available, who could fight with that intensity, in those conditions, taking that level of punishment for 14 rounds. And these guys were HWs, both past their prime! Superhuman.
I truly believe this one fight (and the three against Frazier specifically) were the cause of much of Ali's brain trauma later in life. He took so many hard head shots in this fight, and in every fight against Frazier. When you're feeling like you want to fall asleep between rounds in this high-adrenaline environment something is not right in the brain. Watch some Frazier footage and see how many large men went down after just a couple of those shots that Ali took for 14 rounds. RIP, champ(s).
One of the Best bouts ever, respect, good sportsmanship unlike some clown who calls himself champ/the greatest who just sprints and marathons around his opponents when he knowns he is ahead in points 🤦🏿♂️
@@cliffordwashindu2443 not really a boxing fan eh? A defensive genius with brittle hands who won more than one fight with hand fractures shouldn't be dismissed by a casual fan as a clown.
Prime Newtons Ah man, this was sooo good. Boxing skill, heart, and determination on the behalf of both fighters at its finest! Mad Respect to those two men🙏🏾
Seeing a lot of comments about Frazier and Ali but not enough about this masterpiece of a video. I’m only a casual fan of boxing, but every second of this video was enjoyable. Great job man.
Probably because he just slows it down and states the obvious in every video. That way all the slow people who know nothing about it understands and start to clap and cheer while pounding the like button.
The amazing thing I seem to remember as a kid was that Ali's blows never seemed hard or crippling. It just seemed like he was sparring with someone. You couldnt really get the sence that he was punishing anyone with his blows. I guess that was his genious.
Could be a part he learnt from Pro Wrestling. Not about being fake, but about selling your opponent. How to become bigger than life character. He put over Frazier in their first match, even when Frazier was a dear friend to him Ali mocked him like a true Heel and lost. That did create buzz, that did made Frazier top dog, and they did had 3 matches which were selling out seats left and right. Ali controversial figure, one of the greatest boxers to ever live. One of the greatest entertainers that ever lived in a combat sport. I man that was a huge pro wrestling fan, and that culture is always being overlooked because there is a monopoly on it with the cheap imitation of wwe.
Idc what any1 says he may not b the hardest puncher but factor n the multitude of punches & making the adversary work just 2 land 1. Ali was built different. People don't talk about his jaw & will 2 take a punch
Frazier must've been cut out of granite. He is one of the toughest, most resilient humans I've ever seen. The swelling you could see on his head at 26.51 is absolutely chilling...if any of us looked like that we'd be on our back on a gurney headed for the ER. His willpower and drive and persistence to keep moving forward in the face of such brutal punishment (and heat) is the stuff of legend.
Yea, that swelling was scary too see. concern it was more than just swelling. Just imagine he won the 1st fight however; the head trauma was even worst!!
Simply incredible! This is why Ali lost to Spinks. He was never the same after this fight. Neither was Joe. They both could have died. They laid it all out on the line! The greatest fight ever!
I met Joe Fraizer in 98’ I never met such a resilient piece of granite like him. He was smart yet so kind, mean like a bull but as gentle as a butterfly. A beautiful man.
@ImDxmron Questions; what year was the fight you're talking about? Ali vs Fraizer fight 3 was in 1975. How are you going to say that this wasn't the fight and you're not sure yourself? For all we know the Ali vs Fraizer could've started it all.
“You can map out a fight plan. But when the action starts, you are down to your reflexes. That is where your road work shows. If you cheated on that in the dark of the morning, you are getting found out now under the bright lights”. Joe Frazier.
Daaaaam. I never saw the 3rd fight and didn't know who won. I clicked at this video, its 1am, this guy narrating made my heart pound harder and harder every round!
I have the fight on DVD. It's very one-sided for Ali. Frazier was much fitter than Ali before the fight but Ali gave him such a beating that he couldn't come out for round 15. The narrator adds a load of myths to this match.
This is why these two respected one another inside and out of the boxing ring. They just didn't "fight" 3 times but took a piece of one another every fight. RIP Muhammad Ali and Smokin Joe Frazier 🙏💯🥊
Ork Trukk Drivah Yeah man i understand that and the family would of course say they would want his health before money but YOU are the man and YOU do fo what a man has to do, which is provide for family. Ali was the man, but paid a price.
@Ork Trukk Drivah It's much easier for them to tell you that with a full stomach and a roof over their heads, so we'll never really know. But chalking it down to pure math, even in the developed world, the common man is making a much more dire trade every day of their lives.
I see no losers in this fight. I see two of the greatest warriors of all time in the boxing ring. They both put on a epic championship bout because they both equally wanted the win bad enough even running the risk of dying in the ring. True gladiators
Joe Frazier is completely underrated. He didn't get the respect and hype a great boxer like him deserves. His stamina and boldness reminds me of Mike Tyson a lot.
Ali had a mouth and lot of times he put the money where the...blahzay, blahzay. Ali and Joe Frazier were the bomb and Joe killed him partly somehow that day. (my opinion). Ali was a very smart fighter otherwise he would have been sacrified in Vietnam.
Let's get something straight. This wasn't a fight. This was a war of ability, styles and attrition. Phenomenal. Legendary. Never seen anything like it before or since. Doubtful we ever will.
Thanks man, cause of you I feel like people my age and younger can really experience these fights like the day they happened despite not being around yet
This is exactly why I love this channel. They're so good at showing the atmosphere of the fights, as well as bringing out all different perspectives towards them!
@Bowen Yuan No, Ali definitely won that. He continued to dish out punishment, even after Joe was too far gone to do any fight-ending attacks. Ali not only won, he deserved to win.
@Bowen Yuan Ali would have still won imo. All he had to do was endure and give the last round to Frazier, he's tremendous at soaking up the strongest of punches. Plus I doubt Frazier had it in him to land a KO punch in that condition, neither of them would.
@Bowen Yuan his coach stopped it because he say how hurt Frazier was that coach knew Frazier had no quit. However he was also aware Frazier could have been killed in the last round. He couldn't hardly see and was beat horribly.
I’ve watched this memorable fight a number of times, but this is the first that I’ve noticed just how frequently Frazier punched Ali below the belt and received no warnings. Especially in the 9th and 10th rounds - you can’t miss it. Those are low blows, yet the ref either didn’t see them from his vantage point or didn’t feel them “low enough”. I love your channel, btw, and appreciate all the time and effort you put in to these peerless breakdowns of classic fights.
It’s a grey area because every ref is different but the hip punches were right at the bottom of the beltline. But it was his intent to take his hips away
@@smokeyjoe795 Ali never thumbed Frazier. I've watched the fight a couple of times after someone once suggested it. NOT ONCE in the entire fight. Ali held the back of Frazier's head and Frazier hit Ali low - that was their two "dirty" aspects - nothing else. Complete warriors
Ali never complained once and took it as, "it comes with the territory when you live in the game of Boxing." Many fighters today would holler at the referees or fall to the ground. Nonetheless Ali did take quite a few of those shots and they weren't weak and yet still carried onward like a champ. These Men were truly Warriors.
And this is the fight Ali's ring doctor Dr.Ferdie Pacheco resigned after this he advised Ali to no longer fight because he told Ali that his speech was slurring and he had slight trembling and he could no longer witness himself slowly killing himself in the ring.
You're not kidding. When you're in your mid-20's it's easier to bounce back from these kind of fights even though the damage still is accumulating, but by the time you reach your mid-30's you're already past your physical prime and won't ever fully recover from the damage taken in fights of this intensity. Guaranteed, there were many days that each of these men went through for the rest of their lives where they were reminded of the damage that they took in this fight.

I watched this fight on tape and it clearly could have gone either way. There were even rumors that Ali told Dundee to take off his gloves as he no longer wanted to continue going into the 15th. It was also then rumored that Futch was just first to stop the fight for his boxer. Whether these rumors be true or not, it just shows how deadly that battle was. And then we have a mall here in Manila named after Ali (Ali Mall), that could have been Frazier Mall instead in another life. Legendary indeed.
Understood : however all judges had Frazier well behind on points. I am glad for the sake of Joe's eye sight, that the fight was called off. Ali said afterwards, to Joes son, "your Dad lost nothing tonight ".
@@DavidJsmith-dk5tfthis was another Norton 3 like thing, the judges had Norton well behind while everyone seeing it and the news reporters at ringside had him wayyyy ahead, almost everyone at ringside in Manila had it a draw at the end of round 14, I’m kind of glad Joe didn’t come out for the 15th, but Ali was the one who didn’t want to come out for the 15th, Frazier would’ve deserved this win way more I think
This clip didn't mention that Joe had a blind eye previously from a detached retina. In this fight his good eye was shut from lid swelling. When his manager told him, after the 14th, that he was virtually blind and had to quit, Joe said: "I don't have to see him, I can sense him". His manager threw the white towel in to end it. These two were warriors. Unfortunately they left there health out there from the many punches sustained over years of boxing.
Waiting for this fight for over a month at the end I was wondering if you are really gonna make it even as half as good as you had promised. I got a notification and clicked and shouted unconsciously. The moment the video loaded up I noticed that it was different than I expected. Colours, music, your narration and the whole spirit of it. I started watching, despite being really busy, and I could NOT believe what I was watching. I was watching a MASTERPIECE, which in no any way could have been done better. I felt like I was with these 2 champions in the ring, and was worrying what would happen next, even though I had already seen this fight more than 10 times. Your narration was so passionate, music so perfectly matched, and all of these facts, which I had never known before. I always loved Thrilla, but only after watching this video I realised what it really was, and how much these men suffered. Honestly I don't think you can beat the quality of this video. It is not even a masterpiece, just something more. I just wanted to thank you for this video, because you really made me feel special, and honored that I am your subscriber. Before this video I wanted to to ask you for Leaonard vs Hagler, Ali vs Foreman ( I know you already how a short breakdown ). Ali vs Norton, Norton vs Holmes breakdowns, but after this video I am offcally done,. This was awesome and God bless you. P.S This fight was above anu others, and I regret that these champions didn't retire after that, but still respect their decisions. Great warriors!

"Joe Frazier is a good man, and I couldn't have done what I did without him, and he couldn't have done what he did without me. And if God ever calls me to a holy war, I want Joe Frazier fighting beside me," Ali's words I dint understand them words better until I saw this fight. This were gladiators
Let's remember this is only Ali's side of the story. Ali attempted to ruin Frazier reputation, his life, caused Frazier children to be bullied, betrayed them, and Frazier rightfully disliked him to the end of his days.
Frazier’s a killer. A relentless rock with quickness that should not belong in that body. Both these guys were masters of their style, with speed like middleweights, titanium chins, and skulls. Their trilogy will be watched and admired forever.
You can see that Mayweather uses many of Ali's moves, but that standing in front of Joe Frazier mess, Mayweather's footwork saves him from enduring that "on the ropes" onslaught of body punches. He makes sure to use that V-step until he can spot a fighter's strength and turn it into a weakness.
If this fight would have gone 15, we would have lost these two men far earlier than we did. Rest in Peace gentlemen! We will remember the both of you for the rest of human history.

Quality > quantity. It takes many hours of editing, scripting, and narration to produce breakdowns of this kind of quality. I'd much rather see TMMA spend his time picking great fights to break down like this, than pump out lesser-quality volume.
After this fight Ali said it was "the closest thing to death," and Frazier said, "I hit him with shots that would bring down trees. Lawdy lawdy, he's great."
humans have 50 years left, at best. We will statistically be over carrying capacity, WW3 over resources and culling the species will have taken place, post apocalypse conditions will determine if any survivors can possibly make it. Not saying this as a Debbie Downer, it's just reality (or at least will be).
Frazier was like a locomotive constantly coming foward no matter what. Ali would lay on the ropes & take everything. Then comeback late. Unbelievable how he could absorb punishment & then finish you off late. Ali was an incredible fighter. These guys in this era where gladiators.

What kills me about boxing today is that majority of them worth anything is on ppv. Back in the 60's and 70's all were live TV where everyone could see them no matter who you were. I was 9 and watched it. Being that age I came to the conclusion that there will never ever be another fight like this one. Greatest fight past, present, and future! Thanks for the memories you two! Hi Raymond, I was born in 1962 in England. The Ali fights were fought in the US very early morning in UK time and we would see them the next evening on TV. I would listen to the news in the morning to see who had won the fight. I was a great Ali fan but Joe was such a great fighter too. Both had so much heart and will to win. The 70s were really great for Boxing! Nothing and no one has ever captured that essence since. Sadly fights like this took their toll on both men. I don't think either of them were the same after. Dave.
@@mannypop66 Yes Raymond! I also lived (as you probably did) through the lead up to the "Rumble in the jungle" and the concerns that everyone in Boxing had about Ali getting really hurt by Foreman. Foreman had crushed everyone in his path and there was real concerns for Ali's life. I remember hearing the result of the fight on the morning radio news and I couldn't believe that Ali had not only won......but had knocked Foreman out!! A great era for heavyweight boxing!! Dave.
Really nice to know that. Sad to say that now well all live in a world of money. Everything has to be paid, everyone is greedy. This fight will hold its own on any pundit's book. It is timeless and priceless in all contexts and shall remain so. Boxing has been shown by so many men to be a sport for brave hearts but these men stood and still stand out. One can go on and on but Ali and Frazier are truly great.
no wonder they left a piece in themselves there, they went fourteen brutal rounds in a 110° heat. Wtf, these guys were not human. R.I.P that's, insane!
@marcus24000 lol I love how you're trying to compare you being sick to being punched for 14 rounds in high temperature. There's no way to prepare for that, only an iron will will take you through.
After watching in this detail I kept thinking 'this amount of punishment is probably a big contributor to both men's later health problems'. Herculean efforts on both parts. Respect but bittersweet.
Now I understand why Muhammad Ali was the greatest of all times, I watched this clip and I now know why he won he pushed himself to the limit he literally became a punching bag to Joe and he never took for granted or underestimated his opponent. He wore off Joe to the limit and he won without a doubt. But he acknowledged his greatest rival of all times. Thank you champ for the great lesson of resilience consistency and total class.
He didnt beat Joe without a doubt, there was a lot of doubt...fraiser had insurmountable stamina and gunpowder in his fists that rocked ali to his core everytime they fought..
Sorry Bobby, I’m not writing this reply to prove you wrong or to be an ass. For this fight Ali “did” take it for granted and although he was in good shape he wasn’t in the best shape possible. I got this information from Angelo Dundee’s book “My view from the corner”. Dundee says that Ali was convinced Frazier was washed up, finished by 1975 & every time Angelo tried to tell Ali that he should take the fight more seriously Ali dismissed his opinion. Ali admitted after the fight that he had underestimated Frazier’s ability to still fight at the level he did.
Joe could have won that fight. That last round was his, just look at Ali after he stood up. Joe very well could have lost on points, but then again that last round could have changed the outcome. Joe still had more in the tank, he just didn't have all his senses available to him. Ali most likely would have stayed against the ropes and delivered quick jabs every so often. Frazier would have controlled himself, saved up energy and looked for his Left Hook, one last time. Whether he could have landed it squarely, we will never know. Joe beating Ali in this last fight, very well could have changed the idea of "The Greatest" (Not saying it would have been Frazier, but there would have been more of an argument for someone else). The downside of them going into the lost round very well could have killed one of them. The way history played out is most likely the way it should have been.
Bobby Gi Before the ban, Ali's footwork and handspeed made him untouchable. When he returned, he'd lost the otherworldly footwork. But he showed that he also had superhuman heart, determination and courage. In Frazier, he met his equal in all three of those areas. Completely different fighting styles. Very different personalities. But linked forever, because on the inside there've been no greater warriors in the history of the toughest sport.
This fight literally brings me to tears the performances by these two great champions will never be surpassed they gave every inch of their heart and souls in that ring truly special are both these men who will never be forgotten !
The most epic, brutal, and utterly savage wars ever fought in the ring. The Ali-Frazier fights are unequaled in there relentless and unyielding drama, and in the sheer ferocity and determination of both men to destroy the other. These three unforgettable fights will, in my opinion, be forever recognized as the most electrifying and mesmerizing battles between two of the greatest warriors in history. Neither was willing to quit, neither was willing to yield, and no two fighters ever fought each other with such iron determination to win. In my book neither went down in defeat... and no two fighters will ever compare in battle with Mohammed Ali and Joe Frazier. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
"Money" Mayweather says he's the face of boxing, the first one people think of when they think of the sport. We all know it's Ali. Joe Frazier suffered 4 devasting losses to Ali and Foreman. But we all know the respect he gets for being the absolute warrior that he was. Mayweather has gobs of talent, but he'll never , ever, have the respect of a Joe Frazier.
Ali's greatest skill, was his speed, and his ability to take a punch. All too often, he would be seen starting to move his head backwards right before he got hit, greatly reducing the impact of his opponent's punches.
The way he just relentlessly marches forward, like a man possessed. He wanted to win so bad that he was willing to die for it. Somewhere between brave and foolish. The coach made the right call, because he never would have quit himself
Wisdom that he imparted at that time was insane , look at THE GREAT MUHAMMAD ALI and other boxers now. Back then Ali was the Greatest and even now is the Greatest and will forever be the Greatest. Rest in peace Poet,Philospher,Comedian,Great Boxer and A Good Human
Boxing was great in the 1970's, there were so many great fights! Ali-Frazier 1-2 & 3 were all great fights! Only Ali could have beaten Smoking Joe 2 out of 3 times. Joe Frazier was a GREAT champion, with a heart of a lion. And Ali was the greatest of all time, a man who knew what it took to win fights. Both of these champions shortened their lives for the sport. I was a young man in the 70's, 15 years old to be exact....Life goes by so fast, its crazy. One minute I had my whole life in front of me, the next I am a 56 year old man, wondering how it all went by so fast! LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL!
Every sport in the 70's seem to have more blood and guts. i to was a young man during this fight and yes time flies and the older you get the faster it goes by
Once again, the best fight video analysis on the internet. I was 16 when this fight happened. I had been an Ali fan for a decade already. I don't think today's fighters inspire such emotion. Ali was The Draft, The Vietnam War and Civil Rights Movement, all in one. Sure beats a corporate sponsor.
The moment when Frazier is staggered at 24:23 and somehow stays on his feet gives me chills. I love Ali but Joe was an absolute warrior, to just keep coming at Ali when he couldn't even see is incredible. One good eye and one good arm and he was still able to destroy some of the best to ever get in the ring, he never got the credit he deserved. This video is a masterpiece, I've never done any martial arts but your videos are exceptional, and I love watching the breakdowns of the classic fights between the greats. I look forward to the next one!
Frazier was my favorite fighter. He was short, short arms, blind in one eye since 68, but no one worked harder, and for his opponent it was fight or be destroyed. There was not a dull second.
With both in their prime, how would a Tyson and Frazier match go. I think Tyson would win due to his sheer ferocity; I don't respect Tyson as I do Frazier. No respect for a biter in boxing.
@@wbshappy1 I would give it Frazier. Joe took intense punishment from Foreman, but he never knocked out. Foreman's reach was also a deciding factor, as everytime Frazier tried to close the gap, Foreman would block his advance and hammer him from range. Joe and Mike are about the same Stat wise. I don't think Iron Mike ever had a large gas tank to go the distance, but his knockout power was crazy. If Joe can survive the onslaught of the first couple of rounds and bring Mike into a war of attrition, then he'll drown him and drop him with a leaping rabbit punch.
Frazier was Ali's equal, the man does not get the respect that he deserves. Still cannot believe he fought blind, he has won my respect, a definition of a champion!
@@edwardahmed1769 nobody had more heart than Frazier not even Ali, in their final fight Ali was ready to give up in round 14 , in his own words Ali said he would not have continued if round 14 had commenced, and if you watch the fight as soon as the ref announces that joe Frazier’s team have thrown in the towel you see Ali stand up and then just collapse he was taken to his upper most limit by Frazier , Frazier was a man who would never ever give up he had an iron will and what’s even more remarkable is the fact Frazier fought most of his career legally blind in one eye, nobody even comes close to him when it comes to heart. Yes Foreman battered him but it was mainly down to styles, that’s how Ali was able to defeat foreman, Ali had a certain style that foreman could not handle. I respect all fighters btw I think Ali was poetry in motion and also Foreman was so so strong I think foreman would hammer all of today’s heavyweights he’d literally knock them all out, but in terms of heart I don’t think anyone had more heart than Frazier and that’s what Ali and Foreman said too which is such a great compliment
@@jimmynext5375 I think you're believing a load of nonsense. Angelo Dundee, his coach on the night emphatically denied that Ali was ready to quit. Ali had an awesome 14th round - why would Ali quit? Ali showed more heart and was getting the upper hand in the later rounds. It made sense that frazier quit because he was getting beat. You're utterly delusional mate. Ali beat frazier twice - that proves he is far superior frazier. Oh sure, so Ali's superior record relative to foreman is just down to styles???- that just confirms you're completely biased and being totally irrational. Some how everybody, all the greats experts and commentators missed that Frazier was Ali's equal - nonsense!!!. Ali was a far superior fighter to frazier, the record shows that clearly. You need to take back that ridiculous statement that frazier is Ali's equal. Frazier was a bitter delusional fighter who gave a a couple of decent fights. People just want to lie about Ali because he was a Muslim.
@@edwardahmed1769 Look I really respect Ali as a fighter even though i strongly disagree with his treatment of Frazier such as calling him an Unlce Tom when in fact Frazier came up from the gutters and rose to become a World Champion through perseverance and hard work, Frazier really was the real black hero and always will be in my eyes. Ali wanted equality for the black folk yet he threw Frazier under the bus whenever he got the chance, always having digs at him and making derogatory remarks; why do people always put this ugly side of Ali under the rug? For you to call Fraizer bitter and delusional shows what an ignoramus you really are. Ali may have been superior compared to most of his opponents but you are utterly delusional to think that he is "far superior" compared to Fraizer; Frazier would fight him every day of the week and twice on a sunday! The man had guts that we have never seen since. Why do you think Ali said it was the closest he felt to dying? Has any other boxer pushed Ali to the limit? Nah mate, it was just Joe Frazier with his one blind eye that took Ali to the limit. And you can hardly call Ali's 1-0 record against Foreman as "superior" thats just a silly statement to make for a record that stands at 1-0. Joe Frazier never gave up he wanted to continue, you need to watch the documentary, it was Futch who threw in the towel. I'm not saying Dundee is a liar or anything like that afterall I wasnt there but someone did hear Ali say "cut em off" plus if you look at the fight does Ali look like he wanted to continue? be honest. PS. I'm a Muslim!
@@jimmynext5375 first, I don't believe you are a Muslim, but let's leave that point to one side. If you knew anything about Frazier you would know he was a detestably bitter man and that's a documented fact. He was so disgustingly bitter that he even took pleasure in Ali's debilitating health problems and bragged about how he caused Ali to develop Parkinson's disease. Nothing Ali did could compare that. All Ali did was trash talk, largely to promote fights - fighters do this all the time, it's part of the game - you need to get your perspective right. Ali's boxing record is miles better than Frazier's. That's why when people talk about who is the greatest of all time, Frazier does not enter the conversation. Everyone knows there probably has never been a fighter with more heart than Ali. He beat Foreman when no one gave him a chance and when he was past his peak. FRAZIER GOT HIS ASS KICKED BY FOREMAN REPEATEDLY. ALI BEAT FRAZIER TWICE. ALI HAS A MUCH BETTER WIN RECORD. ALI FOUGHT WAY MORE FIGHTS THAN FRAZIER. Only you, the delusional Frazier fanboy, thinks Frazier is Ali's equal - ever think that maybe that means something? That maybe you're a delusional crank that knows nothing about boxing?. As for whether Frazier was his equal, there's just no debate - he didn't come close to Ali. Regarding whether Frazier had more heart, no debate there either- Ali had way more heart. Also, if frazier had more heart, why did he have so many fewer fights then Ali? Why didn't he have the heart to carry on, like Ali did? Don't give up your day job bud.
Freddie Pacheco (Ali's corner) responded when asked years later about the effect of this (Thrilla in Manilla) fight on Ali: "It was the end of his career. He should've never fought again. NEVER fought again. But he wanted to keep going, and Angelo Dundee wanted him to keep going, and the Muslims wanted him to keep going, and the fans wanted him to keep going. Everyone wanted him to keep going, except me- I was the only who told him 'STOP, that's ENOUGH- don't go again!' He's pissing blood... he can't walk straight he can't talk straight he can't see straight - he couldn't of passed any real kind of physical." Quote is directly from HBO 'Thrilla in Manilla' documentary. It's up on UA-cam.
My nominee for GREATEST FIGHT of all times. The Rumble was perhaps more dramatic and had that astounding emotional release, but the Thrilla is The Odyssey to martial arts. I saw this live closed circuit as a teen, and when Joe's mouthpiece flew out I believe in the 12th, the entire crowd leapt to its feet, the roar was deafening. They were titans going beyond human limits... and I miss them; this fight is forever ingrained into me. It is one of a kind, the rarest gem and there is nothing else above it.
I was 2 days out of marine Corp boot camp.Myself & a friend saw it on closed circuit tv in St.Petersburg Fla.I felt like I was in a fight. And yes I can still hear the roar of the crowd when the mouthpiece went flying!
The question of what would have happened in the 15th round can't be answered, but there is more than a chance that one or both of them would have died. Ali was in mortal danger. For Frasier the fight had become more important than life itself. He was out to put Ali in the grave for the endless insults he had endured. This, despite his near blindness, exhaustion, and risk of death.
Joe would've died 100% he couldn't see Ali anymore let alone his punches. He couldn't hit Ali in round 14 and Ali although tired, was still hitting his head over and over again.
fighrers these days couldn't handle those long matches, and only a few would bring their self to near or certain death.A true testimony of what these real fighters was willing to indure knocking on deaths door ,the untimate sacrifice for our intertainment and their legacy.

He took so many hard head shots in this fight, and in every fight against Frazier. When you're feeling like you want to fall asleep between rounds in this high-adrenaline environment something is not right in the brain. The amazing thing I seem to remember as a kid was that Ali's blows never seemed hard or crippling. It just seemed like he was sparring with someone. You couldnt really get the
sence that he was punishing anyone with his blows.

This is so true. Can't imagine what it was like to be there.
Ali wouldn't be the greatest without opponents like Fraser.
@Bowen Yuan his coach stopped the fight cz he knew that his fighter is done
He couldn't hardly see and was beat horribly.
xKeNniii win or lose they are both amazing fighters with heart
They had a silent agreement. Everytime Ali thumbed Frazier punched a little low.
How many minutes were they fighting in this match?

I just found this out as well..... when it's this hot outside the weather lady urges us to stay inside! DAM
That's crazy!!
Ol skool @its best!
Immortal Warriors
@marcus24000 lol I love how you're trying to compare you being sick to being punched for 14 rounds in high temperature. There's no way to prepare for that, only an iron will will take you through.
I'm in tears....real champions will make you stop cheering for them...and start caring for them ....
I agree, said same, damn near tears every time, Lol
yes I'm not going to lie I was tearing up a little because these two pushed each other past there limits, what a fight or rather war
After watching in this detail I kept thinking 'this amount of punishment is probably a big contributor to both men's later health problems'. Herculean efforts on both parts.
Respect but bittersweet.
There's so much truth in what you wrote. Word.
what you have said is so true.

-Muhammad Ali 😀😀😀
Truth Indeed AMEN 🙏
Absolutely right! Very well said. In fact, I rather watch this fight over and over again, instead of the big money making events of today.
You couldn't even spell the Greatests name right you prick.
@@wesleypresley1000 The Greatest's is needing an apostrophe there and then I think we're all good.
Agreed. The Gatti- Ward trilogy at welterweight was epic too.
Frazier could've kill a guy with one punch and Ali took 500 of em
Puts things in perspective
Sebastian Quintana sorry for saying this But I believe that Frazier could of taken Ali in his Condition
Dan B that’s fucked up
Ali's greatest skill, was his speed, and his ability to take a punch. All too often, he would be seen starting to move his head backwards right before he got hit, greatly reducing the impact of his opponent's punches.
Sebastian Quintana true he would of killed people if it was his fist but he was wearing boxing gloves
I can't believe how much punishment Joe Frazier could take. He just never gave up, even when he was about to pass out
A true fighter never give up
Frazier's head was badly misshapen from the jabs
The way he just relentlessly marches forward, like a man possessed. He wanted to win so bad that he was willing to die for it. Somewhere between brave and foolish. The coach made the right call, because he never would have quit himself
@Simon Chase I think it's safe to say they both had alot of heart
Most underrated gas tank in history. The bob and weave style is tiresome enough in its own right, but to sustain it for 14 rounds is just madness.
One of the greatest commentary I have ever heard bar none. You should get an award. Great warriors bring out the best of each other.
Styles make fights. Smokin Joe could never beat Foreman somehow
Every sport in the 70's seem to have more blood and guts. i to was a young man during this fight and yes time flies and the older you get the faster it goes by
What about Big Forman?
@@syedhussain5852 What about him?
Awww..much love, bruvva. We're all in it. #LOVE
Did you notice Ali's face after? like wtf nigga... lol #legends
Ali threw 6 punches in under a second. Joe Frazier blocked or weaved all of them 9:22 this is some anime level shit right here. This is super-human
Big time, considering they're HEAVYWEIGHT.
Floyd who?
Some Goku vs Vegeta SSJ2 shit.
Joe Frazier & Tyson were the only fighters you could never pay me to get in the ring with...Vicious
Goku vs Vegeta
Frazier was my favorite fighter. He was short, short arms, blind in one eye since 68, but no one worked harder, and for his opponent it was fight or be destroyed. There was not a dull second.
This is called Boxing Marathon.
The Trio of Death (Ali, Frazier, Forman)
You should watch Rocky marciano
@@_Dat_Edgy_Boi_ there isn't much on him and he fought some of the weakest fighters ever and he was protected
Frazier was Ali's equal, the man does not get the respect that he deserves. Still cannot believe he fought blind, he has won my respect, a definition of a champion!
How on earth is he Ali's equal? Ali defeated him twice. Ali defeated foreman. Foreman destroyed Frazier. Ali had more heart.
Everyone wanted him to keep going, except me- I was the only who told him 'STOP, that's ENOUGH- don't go again!' He's pissing blood... he can't walk straight he can't talk straight he can't see straight - he couldn't of passed any real kind of physical."
Quote is directly from HBO 'Thrilla in Manilla' documentary.
If some 1 kept the Fraizer mouth peice
It is historic thing
I was 2 days out of marine Corp boot camp.Myself & a friend saw it on closed circuit tv in St.Petersburg Fla.I felt like I was in a fight. And yes I can still hear the roar of the crowd when the mouthpiece went flying!
People ask me what's the best fight I have seen, I don't even think about it ,
Thrilla in Minnlla
This fight is not human, really. Look at the condition they have... 14 rounds like this.... pffff respect!
Well yep...... My work out in the gym today will be intense......
