I got caught out on the misleading marketing as well, in relation to the advertising images showing the number pad incorporated into the touchpad. I purchased the laptop with the expectation of this feature. The images clearly show a number pad included in the touchpad. When I turned the laptop on for the first time, I discovered there was no number pad. I contacted ASUS immediately, who sent me a link to the latest number pad driver, which didn't sort the problem. To their credit, they eventually offered to have the laptop picked up and sent to one of their service centres. Upon my request a ASUS representative confirmed the laptop did have the feature. A week later, the service centre emailed, advising that they had checked with ASUS who said the laptop didn't have the feature and they were returning the laptop to me!! I contacted ASUS with this information. They were quite blunt with their reply, placing the blame back on me, claiming that I should have confirmed the features with the place of purchase and washed their hands of any further responsibility!!! How ridiculous is that ? So is it the buyers responsibility to confirm every specification and feature advertised on ASUS's own website ? How far do you go ? So I lodged a complaint with the Office of Fair Trading, providing the email trail with ASUS support (which included confirmation from one of their own representatives that this model did include a numberpad) and screenshots from their own website clearly depicting the laptop with the number pad feature as evidence. A few weeks later I received a reply to my email from Fair Trading that included ASUS Australia's response claiming they are "not the reseller, supplier, importer, or manufacturer of this product or its representative; we are the manufacturer's appointed Service Agent to provide Service and repair for ASUS products in Australia" However, due to the intervention of Fair Trading, they did agree "in good faith"...... to provide me with a full refund of the purchase price if I return it to the place of sale. Unfortunately I purchased it from a retailer from the other side of the country, and I will have to wear the postage. So it's still going to cost me quite a bit in postage, but at least I do get my purchase price back and can choose a laptop that does meet my needs. But yeah, BUYER BEWARE of ASUS's misleading advertising and they won't stand by their product advertising, instead throwing the blame back on their customers.
@@eqqs I reported it to the Office of Fair Trading and in response ASUS has, 'as an act of good faith' offered to refund my money. But I still need to pay the $111.00 (including insurance) in postage to send it back to the place of purchase.....
@@c-v-n3322 This is the ideal way of making a purchase. There are also some things that a camera can't show like the feel of materials etc. Unfortunately, some of us don't have the luxury of buying the product in person.
@@c-v-n3322 that's all good in theory, and of course that's my preference, but unfortunately that is not an option when the closest retailer that had stock of the model I wanted was located over 4000kms away from where I live. Ever since this semi conductor shortage, nobody seems to keep stock of the higher end laptops in particular.
One of the worst times to buy tech in general, phones, computers, laptops, consoles, handhelds, etc. we’re in a weird spot where we’re on the cusp of a revolution with a lot of stuff but still not quite there
Guess it's back to using an eGPU with my quad-core LG Gram 16.....at least I'll be only forking out $450-$550 for a 4060/4060TI instead of $1700-$2500 for these new laptops.
Even if you don't care about the gaming laptop speakers, for the price it should atleast sound decent. There is no excuse for bad speakers in such a expensive machine.
I bought the Asus g18 with the 4080 and overall I am quite happy with it. It's certainly not as portable as the smaller ones, but my eyes thank me for getting the bigger screen.
@@tazwarrabab3452 Well it's been five years since I bought my last computer so if you think about the cost being spread out over five years then it isn't so bad.
I don't understand why people don't think large laptops are not portable. An 18" fits in a backpack just the same as a 14". Yea, it's not good to use while traveling, but you're probably not gaming on a laptop until you get to the destination anyway.
I loved my ROG STRIX SCAR. Then at only 3 months old, the display panel died completely, and the "worldwide support" advised me to drop it into the nearest authorized repairer - over 200 km away. Before you buy, check where you will need to take it if it breaks for warranty repairs, which could be a deal breaker. For the price, I genuinely expected a higher quality of QA and parts, as I had a previous ROG laptop that worked beautifully for years. Sadly, this brand has badly let me down when I paid a premium to have a "reliable and quality" laptop. NOT recommended.
This is the exact reason i didn't go for asus. No good support in India and heard about few glitches and issues. I ignored all the pull these laptops had on me. Went for lenovo legion pro 7i. Really good support in India and well established brand.
Can anyone suggest me a laptop with i5/i7(h), 2k 16: 10 display (any type),3050/60 or 4050/60 with simple design (MacBook or razer blade) under 2000 canadian dollars. I will be thankful to you.
When Asus was releasing it at CES, they mentioned up to RTX4080, up to same screen as Scars, up to 13980hx, just up to a single 2TB instead of RAID0 of 2x1TB found in Scars, minus the LEDs at the back in favor of either lime-green on shining black colored accents in ROG logo, rear panel cover and bottom panel fragments... and that for less than Scar with the same specs... and now? Most regions come without the RTX4080 option at all, neither do they get the screens or touchpads, nor the top CPUs, nor the combination of promised components. I guess people at Asus realised that if they release Strix G16/G18 with the same components as Scar 16/18, the sales of the latter will dwindle or plummet... so they limited Strix G16/G18 to the mediocre or mid-level components, and yet still had the audacity to keep the "up to" promised specs still present on the product page due to one or two regions actually getting those in limited numbers... and still, the pricing on these remains pretty high for those subpar choices that barely make a difference against last gen Strix units with higher (or same) "grade" components of previous gen.
Can anyone suggest me a laptop with i5/i7(h), 2k 16: 10 display (any type),3050/60 or 4050/60 with simple design (MacBook or razer blade) under 2000 canadian dollars. I will be thankful to you.
@Arsh Sekho maybe Asus Zephyrus G16? Or Asus Zephyrus M16? Both are 16-inch units and have toned down chassis... you won't find 3050+ in Macbooks anyway, so I guess you meant chassis/finish. The question is which size, as in physical not screen resolution, you need... Perhaps Asus Zenbooks could suffice?
I went through 3 Returns of the 2022 Asus Zephyrus G14 because of horrible light bleed (Worse than shown here) Had the same issue with my 2021 G14 Asus Panels are notorious for backlight bleed. It's all over Reddit, but never mentioned by UA-cam reviewers, so thanks for mentioning it.
My 2021 Asus G14 had bad soldering all over it to the point where the local distributor thought that I tried to redo the Liquid Metal and spilled it all over the MB thus voiding the warranty, only the 2021 model didn’t have Liquid Metal in it! Had to escalate the entire thing through Asus management to get a MB replacement as a factory defect. The local distributor then tried to pin it as water damage. Worst quality control ever. Had HP Omen laptops for years, yes they overheating but never had quality issues.
@@monsG165 Oh. I'll keep an eye out for that. Mine seems to be a good unit I went to this from like a 2015 ROG laptop with a GTX 760, & it still runs fine, just not very powerful. I did get my g14 from Best Buy so i got the extra coverage at least.
I have seen ips backlight bleed in all kins of laptops with ips monitor, i had an acer which was terrible, asus as well, and right now i have a razer blade 2022 which is the best yet, it has a slighty light bleed on the left bottom corner. Before that I had a Razer Blade 15 2021 which was a dream, no bleed at all, unbelievable!
On the question about laptop speakers. Before I bought my 2021 Asus Zephyrus G15, I didn’t care about laptop speakers. But once I got my G15, all that changed. 6 speakers with Dolby Atmos support in a small chassis with great thermals and performance. That proved to me that you can get good speakers on a gaming laptop. It’s just typically another corner where costs can be cut. That & the webcam (which mine doesn’t have). There’s no excuse for a crappy 720p webcam in 2023.
In the Philippines, I can get a Chinese version of Asus ROG G16 with spec according to the online shop for around 1739 USD: Intel i7-13650HX RTX 4060 16" 16:10 QHD+ 240Hz 16GB DDR5 4800Mhz 1TB SSD
I’ll take extra thickness for better laptop cooling and noise levels. My last laptop has a 10875h 2070S and a 144hz 1080p gsync display. I thought i would use a gaming laptop more than I actually do i wish I would gotten a 17in a 15in just fills too small. Im used to gaming on a 43in oled and a 3440x1440 ultrawide. Im waiting to get asus new handheld as long as they can hit the right price $700 or less would be nice. I like my steam deck but it’s starting to struggle on some new aaa games.
I've been using this same laptop for almost 1 and half year and its still running amazing like first time no issues I've face yet idk why people complains a lot about this laptop but overall im happy.
Impressed you actually got to play games on it to test it. Mine arrived and after I installed Windows it crashed and wouldn't detect the SSD. Needless to say it got sent back and I got another brand.
same exact thing happened to me last week with a brand new Zephyrus g16, not even 2 days after purchasing it, since day one I was experiencing weird behaviors such as laptop not powering on without being plugged in power and them just after updating windows and getting the pc setup it died and got me a blue screen of death wiping EVERYTHING from the ssd, even the Win OS. Returned right away and now I'm suffering from insomnia trying to decide to give another shot with Zephyrus (m16 this time) or try the strix. Can't decide over sleek design and professional modern look with less gaming power (Zephyrus i9-13900H, RTX 4070) or the gamerish rgb fan boi look of the strix. I just hate that every laptop has to be in this fckd design, so few options to get a nice looking sleek design chassi.
One thing just wanted to point out about this and your previous laptop reviews about maximum memory support limited to 32GB. That is not true in any of the modern laptops and it supports as much as possible supported by that CPU and available memory slots. That 32GB number you see is the maximum the manufacturers offer for that laptop model, not the absolute limit. This Laptop and plenty of other laptops reviewed in your channel, with 32GB max, have been upgraded with 64GB without any issues. Lenovo now even in their Psref (Product Reference Page), started mentioning the term "XY GB maximum Ram offering" instead of "XY GB Maximum Supported". At least for last 10 years, no laptop manufacturers are known to artificially limiting the maximum ram capacity below what is supported by the Processor, if it has the Ram slots for the expansion.
@@elarrieux_ I have the G614JV, which has a maximum RAM of 32GB listed on ASUS's website, but it's been running fine with 64GB for about a year (Kingston Fury Impact - the RAM itself failed once, but Kingston replaced it without issue).
I'm thinking of buying it, the top price for a laptop right now is around 1,500. I would ideally use it for After Effect, Premiere, a bit of Blender and playing from time to time. The idea is to use it on the go but more connected to a 2k monitor in the office setup.
Indeed i care a lot about built-in speakers. I find myself gaming + content consuming 95% on speakers. I'd even sacrifice performance if it can be exchanged for amazing speakers (e.g. Mac speakers)
7:15 Lets put it like this, a great speaker system is what would make me buy a $2100 over a $2000, additionally it is something I would expect for the highest end laptops of which the strix and scar series apply
I do care about built-in laptop speakers. Shuffling between 2020 Blade Pro 17, 2020 GSS Stealth, 2021 Scar 17, 2021 M16 and 2021 Legion 7, and I really like the speakers on most of them. Yes even the Stealth, had to do a lot of tuning in Nahimic. Strix G16... always preferred the Strix Scar series, but to each his own. Nice that you pointed out flaws in this year's model. Really starting to think that my 2020-21 models are still good for 2023.
@@o.t9358 Of the speakers or the unit in general? For me personally, the Scar 17 for all-around, the Stealth is for jobsite-use and the M16 is for travel. The Blade and Legion are for gaming.
The backlight bleed issue from ASUS is getting out of control and it does not matter at all on how much you spend. I spent a ton last year on a top spec Zephyrs 17 that had the worst backlight bleed I have ever seen in my life. I mean so bad that the bottom right quadrant was completely washed out even on the desktop. ASUS said this was normal and refused to do anything about it, I had to fight with the seller for a while to get it returned in full because ASUS does not consider backlight bleed a defect. It was flat out beyond normal bleed, it was defect level. After that I got a G15 AE that had a ton of bleed though not nearly as bad, Tried a Scar 17 that had a bunch of bleed worse than the G15 but not as bad as the Zephyrs. The Current Strix 18 has a 3.3 rating on BestBuy due to backlight bleed issues. If they could just get that sorted, ASUS would be killing it. Super disappointing. To answer the question, Yes I care 100% about built in speakers. My current daily driver (granted not for gaming lol) is a 16' M1 MBP. The Speakers are fantastic and I use this to listen to music in the office, kitchen, ect... When I start up a gaming laptop that usually has much worse speakers, I don't even want to watch UA-cam let alone listen to music. These gaming laptops, especially for their price should be spec'ed to the 9s with everything. Don't get me wrong, I love gaming laptops, but the very lack luster speakers is one of the reasons I have not been able to make a gaming laptop my daily driver when I can't even watch UA-cam knowing it sounds so much worse and then I end up going back to my MBP.
Odd you mention the speakers not being very good. I've found the 2 speakers on my older Strix G15 to be really good for media, especially after tweaking the included Dolby Access software. They're actually the best laptop speakers I've ever had in a machine after tuning. Ah well, my current one still runs great so I have no need to upgrade.
I am confused between asus rog strix g16 i7 4050 and acer helios neo 16 i7 4050 what would you suggest interms of overall perfomance, battery, display, build quality and thermal?
sorry is it recommended to buy this laptop now and also does it have touch screen and what are other recommendations? and i wish i could build a pc instead i just dont know how to do it or start
@@M0M0_454 no troubles, very satisfied. Only one issue: in the new G814 model, compared to my previous G712, the keyboard buttons are higher, which sometimes allows pistachio shells (soft part) to get stuck in the gap.
Personally, to me, speakers are important on a laptop. I travel a lot I don’t always wanna wear gaming headsets or maybe they’re not charged I just wanna game or listen to some music., watch some UA-cam videos on downtime I like the choice of 1200p, I think they get a good height frame rate. It works out great with the 4070.
Good review, honestly, I Love my G16, I have the Nebula 240hz display and it's amazing paired with the 4070. I have a main gaming pc for when I am at home, I use this for work and gaming when I am away. so, for that it's been flawless.
10:03 Kinda weird that you say the Ryzen laptop is "pretty strong in Resolve too" when it is in the number one spot for rendering at almost 50 watts less power?!
I don’t really care that much about speakers on a gaming laptop in this class. Its main focus is on gaming. If you’re gaming you’re almost always using a headset to communicate or hear footsteps. They also block out the fan noise. When using the laptop for more laptop things they suffice. Some of these bottom facing laptop speakers are better than others but ultimately they all suffer the same uphill battle. On my Lenovo I would say they suffice for my use but they aren’t great, I don’t really care though.
@@TheFunnyDictator I bought the G16: i9, 4070, QHD 16:10 240 hz, 500 nits. Cost me 2600 euro (the Netherlands). Honestly great laptop so far. Battery can go 8-9 hrs on youtube using eco-mode. Can play any game at ultra settings still easily getting 80+ fps without heating too much. (CPU 85C GPU80C) The screen is the sickest thing about it honestly.
For gaming i7 and 4060 is alright. Although pricing is debatable but Strix isn't really getting much flagship features anyways. Maybe if they stuck at least a QHD 165hz display it'd be worth it.
I bought 2 different MSI gaming laptop it had the same display issue and the stores were saying "oh that's totally fine, it will not cause any sort of issue".
I just bought this laptop but with an i7 and an RTX 4050 around $1800 CAD for gaming and studying is this a good laptop or is there any other laptops that are better around this price range
@HardwareCanucks you said you 'feel there are a better options for the same price' but i'm quiet puzzled to find one, do you have a video or maybe you can navigate to some 'other' options? thank you.
Something amazing is how fast this products depreciate i can find good laptops used or refurbished at very low prices you just have to be used to adquire tech with 1 year of delay
I bought this with a 4070 and an i913980 and returned it for a the Lenovo 7 pro. The thermals are so bad on the Asus, the cpu was always between 95-100 degrees while gaming whereas the Lenovo stays 15-20 degrees cooler with the same cpu and a more powerful 4080
Having owned a 2019 15" Zephyrus laptop for 3+ years (i7 9750H, 16GB, 2060-90w), I dont understand why there are so few ports, especially on the right side with 2 USB-A. (Mine has 2 USB A and a USB-C. There hasnt been a compelling value driven laptop in quite some time...
I’ve been trying to hunt down the best RTX 4070 laptop for my needs, but I see a lot of hate on this gpu. I get why, but for me- it is more than enough, I had a laptop with the rtx 3070 ti with maxed tdp. Unfortunately I had to sell it, but It played all the games I loved at maxed settings without issue, so to see that the 4070 is an ever so slight improvement in performance, but even more energy efficient makes me happy. The main game I play is Dead by Daylight and that doesn’t upscale past 1080p well. So 1080p is my main focus, so this laptop will be a major consideration.
I don't know where have you read/saw those reviews? Cuz I've read/saw the opposite.. Actually most of users on reddit and here on YT were recommending the 4070 over 4060.. And that what I've ended up with 😊
Hey guys, I have the choice between ASUS ROG Strix G16 with i9-13980HX and RTX 4060 for 250'000yen (= 1,760 USD), 280 USD discounted or the ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 with i9-12900H and RTX 3080TI for 280'000yen (= 1,970 USD), 1050 USD discounted. I'm not TOO familiar with gaming Laptops to be honest. And these 200 bucks difference in price don't really matter to me if I can get a better Laptop which is more "future-proof". Although I'm not sure if the 3080TI is actually better than the 4060. I believe it is, but the CPU is definitely better on the cheaper (and newer) laptop. Any advice would be highly appreciated! btw, I don't mind getting another brand either. These are just the two I found in Japan (official website) which seem to be quite good laptops for the price. They're both discounted. Edit: Reason I want a Laptop is because I want to place Baldurs Gate 3 and Starfield on max settings if possible (or just as high as possible)
But would a higher CPU prossesor use more (Electricity Bills). More Power, More Money ?. I am still using my ROG Asus Strix from 2021 with a 6Core AMD 5000 Series 6Core and RTX 3050TI, Still holding strong till this day with all the heavy loaded E-Sports games and College work.
I have come to care about the speakers. When I bust out my legion 5 pro in a pinch to watch a show with my wife, it’s always disappointingly bad compared to her intel 16” MBP, so now I wish it was better, because the display is really good!
Good review, but I have a suggestion. It would be great if you could test more demanding games like Cyberpunk, Control etc. instead of online competitive games like CS:Go or Rainbow Six Siege.
Frankly for the 1799, I'll take the RTX 4060, double the DDR5 RAM, for the lesser powerful CPU and SSD Space (which the Latter I can always add another). The less powerful CPU will be more friendly for Temperatures and battery.
@@c4z. Should be, 1599 and 2199 has a 1440p Display at 240Hz. 1799 and 1999 has 1080p at 165Hz It's odd yes. But thinking about it 1080p natively will still net a higher fps than a QHD. Besides, for me I can't see anything different beyond this high a refresh rates, so no big deal.
I got the Strix G16 with the newest i9 13900HX and mine boosts up to 4.98Ghz and it wont go further so the 5.6 ghz is a obvious lie but it performs very well, also the cooling on this thing is insane
@@manuel4340 so basically mine when on performance mode is almost all the time at 80c but its very quiet and if you turn the boost mode on, it gets a bit loudrr but drops like 20 degrees
Great review as always, I do also agree that it is a bit of an odd ball when it comes to its specs. I would have preferred that they used a bit of a lower end CPU and pumped a bit more wattage into that 4070, but overall, it's still a good machine. It's a shame that they couldn't put their Nebula 500 nit display in this, but after seeing your benchmarks, I can see why they put the 1200p display into it. I'm also a bit disappointed that they're not using a full metal construction with it, and with the Scar 16, I am extremely disappointed that they didn't, but it's at least built well so it's not the end of the world. What I absolutely can't accept is that they have only a 720p webcam without any sort of biometrics. I am going to be upgrading to the Scar 16 from my Flow X13, and I will for sure absolutely miss the fingerprint sensor on it, and not to mention, I'll be missing out on Windows Hello IR. Once again, fantastic review, keep up the great work! Edit: It seems like after checking the product page for the Strix G16, they do have a model with the Nebula QHD display, but they also have a 4050 model with the Nebula QHD display too???? I am extremely confused with Asus' thought process for these specs.
The 460 version is Wayyyyyyyy more reliable. That nebula screen may do better with colors but it's horrible for longevity. Having none of these issues with the i7 4060 version. more powerful does not always mean better and this model of it proves just that.
i just got this laptop in my hand overall looks pretty good, as you say screen brightness is so awful that the only minus i noticed so far. and they advertised showing numbers on mouse pad but i did not see any of them more over pricing is too high its like around $2300.
I was very close to buying the ROG Strix 18, but I think i'm going to wait for the 14th gen Meteor Lake laptops which are supposed to come out in December.
I got the same exact spec laptop and it performs quite a bit better then what you benched here... I get 120 fps at native resolution on max in most games. The display does not support 4k..
I just want to let you guys know that in 2017 I bought an Asus Vibobook Pro for 1000USD. For that price I got 16GB RAM, i7 7700HQ, GTX 1050 (4GB), 500GB SSD, the same peak brightness as this PC (~300NITS), Metal Chassis, Harman Kardon Audio (which can only be defeated by Dolby Atmos and Apple's Audio). That was 2017 in April, 6 years ago! It still works and covered me for even Cyberpunk 2077 in mid 720p settings! 😂 The thing I want you guys to think about is why would you want to pay for this if you really are only getting a better GPU and a 40ish % better CPU. A laptop that is chungus, plastic, with very mid display, forces you to pay 2300USD simply isn't right. Asus is milking you just so you can play 2-3 50USD games, while serving products that really shouldn't be above 1400-1500USD. The same tier VivobookPro for the new generation is literally 100USD more on Amazon. And this PC is literally 1000USD more @2000USD but for what? For 1500USD you can just get an Asus 16x with literally better specs and a higher quality build. You'll get about 15% less performance in CPU and the GPU will be around there too. But the build quality will be premium and at least worth your money...
I picked one up this weekend and I love it. Using both a Mac Studio Max + MacBook Pro M2 as my work daily drivers, this laptop is primarily meant to satisfy my Diablo IV, Cyberpunk, and BattleBit cravings. I won't be attaching it to my 4K monitor. Just running and gunning.

Between this weird offering and what Lenovo did with the Legion 7i Pro for 2023, it's clear that the Nvidia tax is really hurting these companies and affecting their ability to release really competitive offerings like we'd seen in the last few years
I have the i9 4060 variant of this laptop and i get 70 to 80 fps on RDR2 with max settings. God of War 60 to 70 Ultra Settings. Fortnite 240 stable and unlimited 500 avg (Performance Mode) GTA 5 80 to 100 FPS Max Settings. This laptop is amazing just saying!
For this this generation G16/G18 others had tried faster than 4800mhz with no success. Maybe a future bios update, but a few had came and gone without it.
So, that laptop you have there is 2000 bucks. For an additional 2oo bucks, you go from 165 hz IPS display to the QHD 240 hz Nebula display. Refresh rate went from 7ms to 3ms. Also, you increase RAM from 16gb to 32gb. Oh, and you also go from Windows 11 Home to 11 Pro. Lastly, you get the upgraded touchpad with that Numberpad that you can toggle on and off. Thats an amazing deal for 200 more dollars.
I don't care about laptop speakers. I wish laptop manufacturers would stop trying to market their speakers. Even the "nice" ones are just bad. Save the money and just put one speaker good enough for system sounds. Anyone consuming content or gaming is using external speakers or headphones.
Good deal only in price... 1599$ is awesome with the i9 and rtx40s now I just want to see what is the top lowest-price sale date and when on this laptop if it going to be around 1000 I think I would buy it now and I don't care about the thickness I wish it was even thicker and had a liquid cooling also for this price😍
The overengineered thermal rig on the Strix G16 is actually ridiculously good at dissipating heat. The problem is that the chassis itself appears to have some kind of design flaw that causes the airflow to make loud noises once the fans go past half max RPM. Basically, this laptop goes from virtually silent straight to loud as fuck. There is no middle ground. The $1330 G614JV-AS73 configuration on Amazon of the Strix G16 with i7-13650HX + RTX 4060 + WUXGA 1920x1200 may actually be the best configuration for the Strix G16, because unlike the i9 configurations, the G614JV-AS73 configuration doesn't hit half RPM even under heavy load in Performance mode. The i7-13650HX and RTX 4060 are just right for handling WUXGA gaming at near max settings. The ridiculous thermal rig keeps the temperature low enough that the fans don't go past the chassis' RPM threshold of death, so it's silent and cool even under heavy load. I am very impressed by the thermal rig on the Strix G16. Hopefully ASUS can fix the chassis airflow issue in the next iteration of this design.
I have a zephyrus G15, all the ROG line ups have poor quality control with their screens. No matter what model you get, you get the perks of backlight bleeding.
Great review, thanks🔥 How does the 2024 edition compare to this and would you recommend this or the Predator Neo 16? The devices available in my country are slightly limited. The G16 that is available is the 2024 with the I9 14900HX and RTX 4060 with the QHD 240hz display. The Neo 16 has the I9 13900HX and also RTX4060 with a 165HZ IPS display. The Asus is slightly more expensive, but they are similarly priced
Asus really needs to rename their laptop product stack. You have the Strix Gxx, Zephyrus Gxx, Zephyrus Mxx, Strix Scar, etc. Worst is that they don't have any easy comparison. Which is the best product line? Which has certain features?
While gaming and producing music for film I use an external audio interface and studio monitors/headphones. If I am ever just using it for streaming music or video I'm usually in a scenario where headphones would be needed anyway, so no, internal speakers have never mattered much at all. I used to have a Macbook Pro with amazing built in speakers, but even then it was nothing more than a slight convenience on the off chance I wanted to show someone a cool/funny video real quick or something.
As someone that hasnt had a gaming pc in 15 years and still rocking the ps4. My logic is that even if it sucks to yall its probably gonna nice for be me. Is this logic flawed.
A few weeks later I received a reply to my email from Fair Trading that included ASUS Australia's response claiming they are "not the reseller, supplier, importer, or manufacturer of this product or its representative; we are the manufacturer's appointed Service Agent to provide Service and repair for ASUS products in Australia"
However, due to the intervention of Fair Trading, they did agree "in good faith"...... to provide me with a full refund of the purchase price if I return it to the place of sale.
Sue them.
@@eqqs I reported it to the Office of Fair Trading and in response ASUS has, 'as an act of good faith' offered to refund my money.
But I still need to pay the $111.00 (including insurance) in postage to send it back to the place of purchase.....

Man it’s sooo good to be rich. Us only watching videos of things we cannot afford
Same! The 4080 G18 may be the best valued product I've ever purchased
As you get older, those larger screens help out a lot. Especially if you're staring at a monitor or screen 10+ hours a day.

I went through 3 Returns of the 2022 Asus Zephyrus G14 because of horrible light bleed (Worse than shown here)
Had the same issue with my 2021 G14
Asus Panels are notorious for backlight bleed. It's all over Reddit, but never mentioned by UA-cam reviewers, so thanks for mentioning it.
I just bought a G14 with the Radeon 6800. I don't have this issue. Did it show up immediately or after a while of use?
I'm interested too, did yours come from the factory, or did you have problems over time? Mine has almost 0 backlight bleed
So what laptop do you recommend on that price point?

Im going to upgrade mine to 64gb next. It's this exact model & we will see..

Which would you saw is the overall best out of all these, especially with emphasis on efficiency and performance
This is why I'm getting the MSI GE67HX. 240hz oled screen.

Edit: It seems like after checking the product page for the Strix G16, they do have a model with the Nebula QHD display, but they also have a 4050 model with the Nebula QHD display too???? I am extremely confused with Asus' thought process for these specs.
its marketed as a 140watts a gpu.
I think nvidia is the one limiting it and not asus
@@ibm5155 Right, I forgot that they limited the 4070 to 140 watts with dynamic boost, I confused it with the 4080 specs. That's just frustrating...
The 460 version is Wayyyyyyyy more reliable. That nebula screen may do better with colors but it's horrible for longevity. Having none of these issues with the i7 4060 version. more powerful does not always mean better and this model of it proves just that.
Longevity as in general life of it? Or just battery life
i just got this laptop in my hand overall looks pretty good, as you say screen brightness is so awful that the only minus i noticed so far. and they advertised showing numbers on mouse pad but i did not see any of them more over pricing is too high its like around $2300.
I was very close to buying the ROG Strix 18, but I think i'm going to wait for the 14th gen Meteor Lake laptops which are supposed to come out in December.
I bought a 2023 Blade 18. Speakers were one of the reasons.
The thing I want you guys to think about is why would you want to pay for this if you really are only getting a better GPU and a 40ish % better CPU.
This laptop costs 1350 USD tho.
This is the kind of comment I wanted to see. The i7/4060 spec is on sale here atm and I'm really considering getting one (or the Legion 5i Gen 8).
This is the exact reason i didn't go for asus. No good support in India and heard about few glitches and issues.
I ignored all the pull these laptops had on me. Went for lenovo legion pro 7i.
Really good support in India and well established brand.
At this point, if anyone is looking to buy a laptop, it's much better to wait and see how the upcoming framework 16 turns out. Honestly if it turns out to be as advertised I can easily see myself never buying a non-framework laptop in the future
What the hell is that?
It’s a kinda upgradable / replaceable parts laptop company. Definitely the way forward but as far as I understand, well under par for the hype.
@@currently9143They sell modular laptops more upgradeable than your typical laptop nowadays.
I already ordered mine 😅😳
*Edit* Oh I ordered a 17 with a 4080 hope all the cracks are smoothed out on that model
4080 model
@@zubzero304050 What's the name?
I'm considering both the Strix G16 and Zephyrus G14. I will be taking one winner laptop home bought from the store. Strix G16 is not a bad option
Trying to decide between these 2 as well. Did you end up making a decision?
@@wesrasch7936 told my dad that I chose the G14. He's now on the wait, whether I would consider ordering now or not. Strix G16 is not a bad option either since I have used the Strix G 1st Gen in the past.
I'm pretty good with the Cyborg 15 a12vf i have i712650h and 16gb ram 4060 45watt but with resize bar its fine. My performance is Allot better than most reviews online.
Was considering getting a different Laptop but most of these Laptops look Closely the same aside from some more wattage on the other hand this laptop stays more cool than a 3070 high end Alienware and performance is close to the same. And temps allot better.
Swapped the 512gb m.2 for a 4tb one and m good to go. People just don't know how to optimize there Laptop to run at its best.
The Laptop has a bit Dull display colors. But good enough for Gaming.
I use it next to my rx7800xt nitro + desktop.
Ths intro is pretty awesome 💥
I predicted Zen4 mobile being very efficient & support fast but 7945hx blows my expectations even more. 🤯
Now i just want to see 7x45hx & 7x40hs chips in a well engineered body instead of the poor one's like scar 17
Asus tuf a15
Between this weird offering and what Lenovo did with the Legion 7i Pro for 2023, it's clear that the Nvidia tax is really hurting these companies and affecting their ability to release really competitive offerings like we'd seen in the last few years
just got 6800H with 3070TI Legion 5 pro. Sticking with it until these laptops get better
13980hx model supports ddr5 5200+ ram ??
well... yeah, you just needa stick some new sticks in it. It supports up to 5600 MT/s ram.
For this this generation G16/G18 others had tried faster than 4800mhz with no success. Maybe a future bios update, but a few had came and gone without it.
Do the Zephyrus Duo 2023 next!
Eber always bringing the facts to us, the consumer.
Are the Zeyphrus G14 4070/4090 and Stealth 16 Studio reviews coming next?
you are really sympatic young man... with low caramel voice.. thanks for review
I came for the review but stayed for the beautiful backgrounds!😍
I have a zephyrus G15, all the ROG line ups have poor quality control with their screens. No matter what model you get, you get the perks of backlight bleeding.
12:07 music?
Great review, thanks🔥
How does the 2024 edition compare to this and would you recommend this or the Predator Neo 16?
The devices available in my country are slightly limited.
The G16 that is available is the 2024 with the I9 14900HX and RTX 4060 with the QHD 240hz display.
The Neo 16 has the I9 13900HX and also RTX4060 with a 165HZ IPS display.
The Asus is slightly more expensive, but they are similarly priced
Hope you do a review asus rog strix scar 16
This video is gold. But what do you recommend me, if my budget is 1.5k$?
As someone that hasnt had a gaming pc in 15 years and still rocking the ps4. My logic is that even if it sucks to yall its probably gonna nice for be me. Is this logic flawed.
Lovely video, sir. Very informative and to the point. Thank you
