Not gonna lie, this has inspired me to try again someday with my own career path. Not necessarily in voice acting (although, I've been told by many of my online friends that I REALLY should try streaming or doing voices since I have the "voice" for it and the presence/personality to hold a crowd.. I jokingly say I take that as "oh, you're saying I have a face for radio, huh?"), but I've been a music composer and creative writer for as long as I can imagine. I grew up around books and video games as my only forms of entertainment as a kid and always yearned to tell my own tales backed by my own songs, or write my own songs backed by a heartwrenching program attached. Got myself published in various publications in high school and college and I also regularly write for a local high school band as their composer/arranger.
Every time I played a game like Final Fantasy 7 or Chrono Trigger or Earthbound or Skies of Arcadia, I would listen to the soundtrack and think, "this track is okay, but I would've done *this* and *that* to better draw out that feel"... or I would sit down, bored on a weekend, and mentally break down the storyline of an RPG I beat or book I read and think "well, the plot was okay, but this point was a little weak and the pacing there was a little sloppy and, had I written this, I would've done this to get better results".
I have a "day job"--I work overnights, hence the sarcastic quote marks--that, luckily and thankfully, I can make my own hours to and occasionally substitute teach. It pays the bills and does what it needs, but it doesn't feel... fulfilling. I didn't spend 25+ years of my life writing music as a hobby (and occasionally getting paid) or writing Fire Emblem fanfiction (Tellius and Ylisse, sorry) to hone my writing craft just for it to simply stay as a hobby. Hearing this story... it inspires me. It makes me re-consider my path. My goal will remain the same, buy a house that I can live in on my own, have a comfortable life... but now I can see that the route has other paths and other checkpoints, some of which I hadn't considered before.

Definitely! To be honest, the biggest reason why I never did before was because half of the time I would work on a fanfic or a story or a composition and, when I published a song/chapter, I'd send it to all my friends and be like, "Hey, I worked really hard on this, can I get any feedback?"
And a week later, it'd have two views, one of which being my own, and I'd get into my own head thinking "well, damn, if my own *friends* don't think I'm worth checking out, why tf would random strangers like my stuff?". Monty Oum was my original inspiration with Dead Fantasy (and later RWBY) being another self-taught content creator, but, idk, I just kinda let the world (particularly my ex at the time, who was very unsupportive of my ambitions) drag me down.
But, between some stuff that I've learned to accept IRL as well as this video, it just.. makes me want to get past my insecurities, get past trying to say "well, my compositions aren't as good as Bravely Default/Celeste/Hollow Knight's works", trying to get past all the hate reviews I used to get on FF.net... it's inspirational!

I've always known about your background in CT which is why despite knowing many names in the voice acting industry, I have always thought of you as the most inspiring voice actor. I'm in a similar situation where right now, I just recently graduated university and currently work for the government. While I've never thought about VA (since my voice sucks and sounds like an 8 year old for some reason xD) I have always wanted to pursue a creative career, but I currently cannot afford to abandon my full time job.
I don't comment often, but I really respect you as a VA, and whenever I learn that you voiced a certain character, it does bring a smile to my face. Knowing about your career path makes me happy that some of us do get to do what we want not just through talent, but also sheer hardwork.

I've had a membership at Voices since December and have done maybe 10 auditions. I just don't have it in me to pursue it more, energetically or emotionally. I've had coaching and still don't like the thought of doing 80 auditions a day to maybe hear back from no one.
