The amount of stick this guy gets for not being korn’s original drummer is unreal! People need to take a step back, stop being salty and appreciate the raw talent, commitment and hard work this man puts in!
I think when bands change lineups or style it inevitably splits the fanbase and the tribal toxicity quickly sets in, even moreso when the two happen at the same time. He might not be responsible, but the two are forever linked. I remember Trujillo getting the rap for At Anger even though he didn't record a note on a Metallica Album until Death Magnetic... haha. funny how it works out.
I read that as The amount of sticks this guy gets for not being korn's original drummer. What a bizarre reason to get free sticks.
Look watch some of the vids of Jon and Ray on this subject. Jon said he didnt want Ray to sound 100% like David. He wanted Ray to.add his touches on the songs. The band loves him so that's why he's staying in the band. Hes a great drummer.
People forget drummers are musicians to sometimes I think.
Dave was a calvin klein model ffs he had to go he turned into a right bender. Ray is korn fuck what anyone says!!

And he has to play 4 and a half more minutes with a broken stick :D You can see him tossing the broken one away in a split second and grabbing a new one at 8:30

I freaking love Ray Luzier, the dude plays with power and finesse, cross handed and open handed, fierce and groovy, enough pocket and showmanship to move a crowd and chops to entertain a drum clinic, one of the few that can do it so well.

@@JoshuaWCU don't quote me , but I think he uses a 14"× 6.5" phosphorus bronze free floating snare drum.
Luzier is a Beast. Those poor drum sticks sure take a licking. His snare drum sounds is incredible. Love watching Ray play.

The fact he's playing double bass with big ass boots is pretty crazy
actually that's pretty normal, there are too many drummers wearing big boots or uncomfortable shoes and it doesn't affect the performance, is just a practice thing...
He plays in them for every show, and when he doesn’t have them he feels like he doesn’t play as well.

Doc Martens aren't that heavy actually.
Once you play a DW9000 it pretty much plays for you lol. But seriously some double bass pedals I’ve owned I had to really work on timing and tempo... the DW9000 really makes playing the double bass much easier. You are so much more in control of the pedals.
Never get tired of watching this strong display of rhythm, power, and musicality.
Can we just agree David was a phenomenal drummer and served his purpose for that era of Korn and Ray is a highly underrated drummer and is serving his purpose for this era or Korn

Ray is infinitely better than Dave. No doubt from any objective angle. People just don't like change and I get that and it's fine. Ray is just better.

This guy blew me away, for the first time, on The Nothing... Just fantastic drum work, paying homage to David and bringing his own style to the album. Really, now more than ever, I respect Ray Luzier as a drummer so much!
He definitely did a fantastic job in that album, not sounding like David but sounding what KoRn used to sound before, but with his own drumming signature styling.
Ray is and has always been on another level of drumming compared to David. Ray is among the ELITES! 🤘
Sometimes good things can happen when band members quit. David back then was amazing but from day 1 Ray joined I loved the change and knew right away it would help the band in the long term.

Funny you should say that. Having "no groove" is the only argument that the little David Silveria-loving bitches can come up with as to why Ray is not as good. Such nonsense...he's definitely got groove, technically superior, and a hell of a lot more fun to watch.
Check out fieldys solo project. Ray is on some of the tracks and the album is basically funk

I've been using a brand here in Australia called inferno. I hit pretty hard and get at least 2-3 months out of a pair before one breaks.

This guy is the full package.solid.groove.technical.plays what is needed with some showmanship.a true pro. Getting rare these days. I think not being in the limelight is good.keeps him humble and not getting caught up in the madness that is the music business.
What a good showman but a very technical player at the same time. Good use of dynamics on point, solid rhythm, timing and pocket with just the right amount of hot sauce on the side. Very solid and entertaining drummer🤘
