Apple ran a series of billboard ads featuring pictures from a phone. On a billboard, viewed hundreds of meters away, the pixels can be the size of a dinner plate and still look good. So, not a surprise that when a pic from a phone is printed and viewed from a reasonable distance it looks just fine.
Excellent comparison and information. I have drifted away from my canon simply because I always have my phone in my hand. I currently have the iPhone 13 and look forward to the photo capabilities with the 14. Thanks for your story! Definitely following. Cheerfully, from South Florida
great video, just subscribed. I wanted to see comparisons like this for real world results. Very few of these one here like this! Good job man! Just ordered a photo printer to try this myself! Keep it up man I pray for yout continued success!
Amazing video, would you consider an iphone 14 pro comparison when it comes out since it will be 48MP? would be interesting to see it's print outs and compare them to professional quality!
MOAR printing videos please! Would love to see a video where you demonstrate how large of a print can be made from a non-upscaled image between the same two pieces of technology
Good video, Alex. I’ve had some of my Southern Utah photos I took with Samsung Galaxy phones printed at 16x20 and 20x30 at my local print shop, I was truly amazed at the quality! Now that I’ve learned how to take much better photos with the Canon since then, now I’d use that over the phone.
Firstly, my buddy from high school started On1. I use On1 Raw for my edits. Fun fact - the On1 name comes from his days as a high school quarterback. This is my first time viewing your content. I first watched the video where you took the photos and compared and then was curious about how they looked printed. Both videos are very interesting and well done and your presentation and speaking abilities are excellent. I also like how you discuss real life applications for non-expert photographers. People can talk about image quality all day long with pixel peeping but like you said, most people that view or purchase photos aren't pixel peeping. Got go watch some more of your content. Come out to Oregon sometime - lots of beautiful photo opportunities here.
GREAT VIDEO thank you soo much. The quality of your video is amazing!! What camera did you use to film this? I am trying to decide if i should invest in a good Camera for my trip to Alaska or if i can take landscapes with my phone. Honestly im not probably going to print out poster size just standard size tho i want it larger than 8/10🤔
I subscribed for a few reasons , and I know a few is two , but I mean more than two , and I am still not a schiffty as you . Reasons I subscribed : 1 . You live out of your van meaning you are a camper - Great , if your not a conveniently wandering serial killer . 2 . The environment you are in - A SERIOUS NATURE RESERVE ... 3 . I am a Nature Guy ... JAH BLESS ...
don't even compare to R5..... see my videos with canon t2i (12 year old camera) .... all videos taken about a year ago were from t2i. videos taken the last 6 months were from apple iphone 13 pro max 6.7
@ Alex Schiffty Armitage : If you can get your hands on a S22 Ultra [ At Least a 256GB SNAPDRAGON version ( So that you have 12 GB of Ram on the phone ) , The Snapdragon version takes the best photographs - DON'T use the exynos version of the S22 Ultra ] AND DO THE SAME / SIMILAR CAMERA TESTS AND PRINTING with the S22 Ultra that you have done with the iPhone 13 Pro ... Would be very interesting to see the comparisons ! JAH BLESS ...
To squeeze out the absolutely maximum image quality from an iPhone I use this app from the app store (and have been using it for ten years now): www.photographyreview.com/reviews/645-pro-mk-ii-iphone-camera-app-serious-photographers

I have one on the way for how I'm printing on the road! Well I'm printing, but someone is.
Love the video. Thank you.
So glad!
great vid mate! awesome stuff.
Fun video. I have a Canon 5D Mark iii. I mainly shoot flowers n foliage.

I find myself shooting so much on my phone for quick things and more detail oriented shots on my camera.
@@AlexArmitage Right on, thats what I also do especially when pressed for time and/or having plenty of sights to photograph on a journey.

Thanks for this video, Alex.
Yes, somebody made prints and is happy about it. Thanks for the info man!
You're welcome!

Exposer time is the key. The longer the exposer the more detail. The longer the exposer the larger the file. The R5 is able to gather more light.
Which print shop do you recommend? And what type of printing it’s the best ? Thank u
Makes Common Sense as well as Detailed Information
Looking forward to further videos on printing.
Thanks Justin!
Great view from the office!! Love it 🤣
Haha thank you so much Amber :)
Hello sir loved the comparison just one question did you took the iphone picture in raw format? If not will that make a difference?
I did, and it does!
Thanks so much for information. Love your insightful content.
Btw, what camera and lens did you use to film yourself in this video?
R5 / Sigma 18-35
ACR has better upsizing algorithm.
Really interesting video Alex. I often wonder how to upscale photos for printing. Do you use On1 for just upscaling or for editing too?
Just for upscaling
This is also a test of what the AI upscaling is doing
Alex - I’d be interested to see if there’s a noticeable difference now that the 14 pro has a 48 megapixel camera…
Prints are sitting with me right now :)
@@AlexArmitage Excellent!
Do you actually live full time in an rv, like off grid etc
18 months in the 4runner.
So does more megapixels translate to better pics from a phone
no not necessarily.

Can you do iphone12pro?
If someone wanted to buy a somewhat inferior image from me, I'm going to sell it to them. Yes.

Love u bro keep it up 🎉
Even I don’t see the full frame… waste of time and dislike 👎
