It really wasn’t, especially considering one is a zaney & vibey pyschadelic rap record and the other is a mainstream accessible Christian rap album. Both are good but they aren’t comparable in sound & no way is it an improvement
Some Rap Songs is one of Earl's best albums. The production is intricate, the lyrical content is raw and thought-provoking and the indifferent delivery fits well with the themes and topics presented
Jordan C the album’s lo-fi beats are slow yea but honestly the warped errie instruemntals are a great setting for Earl and his rapping is montone but is still packed with emotional and intricate rhymes that keep fans like me invested in his work. I definetly wouldn’t call it boring honestly

How do you even tell if a track is produced well, produced awfully, or intentionally produced bad? Since all music is sorta just subjectively good or bad or whatever based on what someone thinks of it, is there some technical part I'm missing which defines how good or bad a track is?
You've got a really good point. Art in general and opinions in general are all subjective. Some people looks down upon art for this reason. But, for me, when it comes to low quality music. I usually just ask myself, "does the poor quality production/instrumental add anything of value to this? Or is it just shitty for no reason?" Lmao
If anybody wants I have a playlist of lil b’s whole discography so look it up on Apple Music it’s called “All of Lil B’s Music”, the cover is a pic of Lil B shirtless flipping everybody off with his pink bandanna it’s 167 hours long just hit shuffle.
@Will Doge I don't hate it, because there are good things about it, but there's no focus. you can say "oh it reflects his mind state" IDLS was also about his depression but was way better because of the focus. the production is pretty weak. it isn't THAT "experimental", it's kind of just lo fi boom bap with slightly weirder loops. most of the time it completely doesn't fit with the lyrics. The rapping is still good but it too suffers from lack of focus. there's some great lyrical ideas that aren't full developed. also, all the songs are too short, to the point that it negatively affects the music. I'm kind of playing devils advocate, but I much prefer IDLS
Wild Doge I'm honestly not usually the biggest fan of experimental hip-hop in general, and on the rare occasions when I am it's definitely not like SRS. I liked one or two beats like The Mint but overall they're just forgettable. Earl's flow really takes me out of it all, no songs stand out at all, the lo-fi aspect to me really steps on the poignancy of the lyrics (not that I dislike anything lo-fi), there's just nothing I can take away from it. It starts and ends and I feel like nothing happened in the middle. It doesn't have to be fast or loud or something like that to hold my attention but it's gotta bring something more to the table
Man, that "Up" explanation was so well said. It was logical and humorous at the same time. I actually listened to it twice! That's why I sub to you lemon, I may not always agree with what you say, but I damn sure like listening to you say it.

It really wasn’t, especially considering one is a zaney & vibey pyschadelic rap record and the other is a mainstream accessible Christian rap album. Both are good but they aren’t comparable in sound & no way is it an improvement
@@Slesaint17 definitely not even close to an improvement
Some Rap Songs is one of Earl's best albums. The production is intricate, the lyrical content is raw and thought-provoking and the indifferent delivery fits well with the themes and topics presented
fav is still IDLSIDGO
but i agree
the man's project-name game is 💯
It's boring as fuck
Jordan C the album’s lo-fi beats are slow yea but honestly the warped errie instruemntals are a great setting for Earl and his rapping is montone but is still packed with emotional and intricate rhymes that keep fans like me invested in his work. I definetly wouldn’t call it boring honestly
@@raymond9180 did I say boring cause I shoulda said it's trash
There’s a lot of rappers in NY with that “SRS” sound for a while now. New York might not be the best location to identify but Bandcamp definitely
Big facts
Looking back at it, some rap songs might have been aoty
Is it honestly better than TA13OO?
idkman idk man, imo it is
Cannot deny the resurgence of city pop
I think Macross and Yung Bae really contributed to that
Also the old man from UP was rejecting the encroaching threat of the American capitalist industrialist machine.
Ant-Fant knows what's up.

Jacob DeCoursey the old man was refusing to sell his property to a company trying to build skyscrapers that would provide hundreds of jobs, despite any emotional connection he may have to the house, if he sold it and moved to a suburb then he would be helping the economy greatly
@@josephshipman6587 - who cares about actually helping people or growing the economy when we all know feelings are more important than objective reality?
David Abest this is ironic, right?
As much as I enjoyed the stunning vocals in the introduction I though it was a tad bit excessive when you proclaimed DJ Kahled was "the new Minecraft" and "God's answer to the Jews". Still loving the content though my dear melon friend
loved you talking about brazilian music love you fantano
I watched this video while tripping on acid and had a bad trip
Chaz Evans did it do damage to your mental?
@@geimzz fuck you bitch
Some Rap Songs is my favorite album of 2018.
Fav album ever
Amen
That guy who said it was trash was trippin
Yo especially „the bends“ is fire
19Atticus Radiohead rip-off though.
The day you make a brazilian funk review is the day i will feel complete
And now "NOT BAD" exists actually. We did it boys

Well, that aged like milk.
Compare him here to a video from 2009, try to spot ANY differences AT ALL!, I'LL WAIT...

Some Rap Songs is amazing... wtf.
I…disagree
32OrtonEdge32dh I kinda wanna hear your insight. What didn’t you like about the project??
Wild Doge It didn’t have hi hats like a trap song. Duh. If it doesn’t have hi hats it’s trash. Everyone knows this.
You tried being experimental with a vocal bass intro, and you failed.
Gg for sticking with the theme!
Yooooo that Dir en grey shout out tho🔥🔥🔥
Here, over two years later, to say that Some Rap Songs (I thought) nailed its experimental approach.
hello anthony! have a nice day :) i'm excited for this video.
*wholesome comment* is invaluably wholesome.
Some Rap Songs is a direct reference to Mac Demarco's Some More Tracks extras album in both name and album cover
Some rap songs is AMAZING.
I agree
It’s great but not his best. His best is to come

Man, that "Up" explanation was so well said. It was logical and humorous at the same time. I actually listened to it twice! That's why I sub to you lemon, I may not always agree with what you say, but I damn sure like listening to you say it.
Holy shit Melon mentioned Dir En Grey and visual kei!
10:35 that brotherfriender predicted the NOT BAD series wtf
This is the issue Tony, you make videos called Lets Argue but every time I try to make a point you ignore me as if you are unable to hear me
Kudos for finally including a tough question, we've been waiting.
anthony please make more vaporwave reviews, you had pad on the channel it needs to happen
Honestly pad basically is the anthony fantano for vaporwave except hes a lot more nice with his vaporwave reviews but fantano has learned from his past when reviewing them so maybe so
Some Rap Songs is one of the most interesting and unique rap albums to come out in 10 years. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if it connects with you it really hits hard.
855 SONG BASED FREESTYLE MIXTAPE review challenge
Some Rap Songs is great, u have to give it a time because it is so unique that u can end up hating just because is different, his lyrics are next level if you analyse carefully.
Loving that t shirt, melon
4:46 As far as I know no one has done it yet so I'm in the process of listening to all of that mixtape, keeping a spreadsheet and will eventually be dropping a top 10 tracks from those 855 songs ranked
(it's done) :)
Can we please turn "NOT BAD" into a series
The chance the rapper commentor was onto something
