The flannel cannot simply be 'retired' you fool. The flannel is eternal, the flannel is the reaper. And if you release shit music, you better fucking believe the flannel is coming for YOU.
The political climate of more recent years is having a very adverse impact on music and it’s production. If Camp from Childish Gambino were produced and dropped in 2016, some of his comments regarding Asians for example would’ve been taken so to heart that he might not have had a future in music at all.
Anthony, standing outside my window and doing card tricks was funny to begin with, but now I live on the 18th floor and you’re still managing to do it, it’s scary, I don’t understand it, stop it.
Conspiracy theory: Anthony is actually a secret Eminem stan. But he knows that (current day) Em only releases good music when he has critics to prove wrong...Melon actually loved Kamikaze, but can’t say it publicly. He is willing to fake hate Em’s music, so that more will come. In short, Melon is a hero.
Every artist essentially gets “called out” by critics. A critic’s job is to “critique” an album. Believing critics get “butt hurt” about artists not liking their review ESPECIALLY when the critic gives a bad review is. Well, extremely stupid.
Well if it can go one way (artists getting butt hurt over reviews), surely it can go the other way (critics getting butt hurt over artist's response). At this point each side is just trying to legitmize themselves over the other.
billhicks8 Ok but a critic expects backlash. That’s kind of what happens when you “critique” something. Sure, when you give an album a really positive review you probably would expect praise (though I never would personally) but when you give a negative review, you should expect some pushback from the fan base or artist. It comes with the territory of reviewing albums. When you’re an artist, they expect some criticism but they more expect people to like it unless they’re doing something super out there, which in the Internet age finds a cult following. Conclusion: Critics critique music. When you “critique” anyone or anything you should expect pushback. And if you don’t expect some level of pushback then you’re not a good critic.
Listen, I know Eminem called out critics in Kamikaze, but that doesn't mean you have to call him the n-word and speculate that he was a secret grandson of Hitler, orchestrating the entire US Nazi movement. Maybe next time just calm down and wait to respond before making such a knee-jerk reaction. Statements like these have a much bigger consequence than you think.
GearsOfDutyHalo4Dead NF has some good material (songs such as How Could You Leave Us, Lost in the Moment, that archetype), but he's weighed down by his more popular songs where, excluding Let You Down, he just brags about how "real" he is instead of having wordplay fitting of a brag rap. Plus the beats on his brag raps just don't stand out
When you held up that liquor store you said " *Sleepthony* *Sleeptano* .... *Forever* !" to the cashier and then pulled the trigger, I really witnessed your humanity become lost among the hail of gunfire and rants against affirmative action, welfare, and fatherless homes--I knew then we wouldn't see eye to eye on Christian Music.
12:08 this guy literally said the "british rock invasion" was one of the 5 most important events in American history and you said "yea but..." instead of immediately calling him a retarded troglodyte with no understanding of history, politics or anything outside of what retarded shit he is circlejerking in his own head . I will say I'm glad you mentioned how British rock was profoundly influenced by the American music of the 50's and 60's which many people seem to forget and mentioned the amazing homegrown talent as well. You should of mentioned how at the time how the disenfranchised like African-Americans, Hispanics, etc were for the most part completely unaffected and uninterested in the British rock invasion which only hit wealthy white urban and suburban youth
@@ninakore I couldn't imagine being bombarded with messages, emails, and so forth just because you didn't care for an album. Has to be exhausting, but that's the cost I guess of what you have to pay having an unpopular opinion about an idolized artist.
@@CountryFriedChocobo Yeah but nobody did that when he reviewed Revival. Kamikazi is dope. It's just popular to hate on Eminem. It's always been popular to hate on Eminem except for the MMLP2 Era. Eminem is the perpetual underdog and while I respect his opinion I do think he just goes with the wave sometimes. Like him getting triggered over Eminem using the word faggot even though Eminem blurred the word out and he praises Eminems previous albums even though those Albums are filled with far worse profanity and is infinitely more offensive and Tyler himself is far more offensive than Eminem even on his most recent album. So it really does seem like people are trying to ride the Eminem hate train. Stans do take things to far but so do all fans of all music. Eminem has never reviewed well till people look back on it. SSLP, MMLP, and the Eminem show all reviewed poorly. Encore is actually better reviewed than Recovery and Relapse and even Kamikaze but nobody thinks that Encore is better than any of those albums. Hell MMLP2 is better reviewed than Eminem Show and SSLP but does that make it better than those? No. I'm glad people are ragging on Eminem though he put his best work out when it happened. SSLP-ES era and Recovery-MMLP2 and now Kamikaze.
@@organizedopinions8068 I can see how a lot of people reviewing idolized and dominating artists like Em, Kanye, and Beethoven can tend to sway towards the popular opinion to be liked or even go against the popular view to stir up controversy for more views. In addition, there's also going to be some sort of biased view regardless of how neutral you try to be, and that can't be avoided. I don't really have the answers for Fantano other than what he's already stated. Either way, Fantano probably should have expected before uploading the review he was going to receive a lot of shit considering reviews like DAMN and MBDTF went against the overall liking. I think as a viewer, whether you agree or disagree, know sometimes people aren't going to like the same album as you, and being in his spot, he's just saying how he feels about it and hoping he isn't saying it just for views. Edit: In regards to the Tyler thing, I can see both sides. Tyler has always thrown that word around so I get that, but some people might be seeing it as Em calling him that for the wrong reasons. I have to lean towards the side of Em probably knows Tyler's work really well and said it as reference, but Em should have also probably have known not a lot of listeners don't know the details, so it may have not been the best of ideas to throw it down like that.
I appreciated your comments about Christian music. I am a Christian who has pretty much abandoned "Christian music" as a genre that I could see myself listening to for enjoyment. I used to listen to exclusively Christian music in the 90s; finally branched out in the 2000s and realized I had missed out on a lot of good stuff. Eventually I got to the point where, if I enjoyed an artist who was a Christian, they generally weren't playing to exclusively Christian audiences - either in cases where it was someone like U2 or Sufjan Stevens who had more mainstream and/or critical acclaim outside of the "Christian bubble", or someone who was recording independently because their music didn't fit what the Christian music industry gatekeepers were looking for (generally a lot of U2 and/or Creed clones in the early 2000s when it finally dawned on me that I was getting sick of this) and/or they dared to ask questions that a largely conservative religious audience considered controversial. A few my old favorites from the "Christian music only" days that are still around today have actually had to jump ship in recent years, as the cultural tide within the genre basically turned on them for no reason other than that they got too curious and wouldn't stick to the didactic playbook. (Literally all it took was a Tweet in some cases: "Hey guys, what if maybe we were being jerks about the whole gay marriage thing?") I'd rather hear something that challenges my sensibilities as a listener, or honestly even an artist whose beliefs are different from mine exploring those differences, than yet another crappy, poorly thought out commercial for a trite, reductive version of my own beliefs.
All these comments about Eminem and Christian music and here I am just appalled at the fact that Fantwon dares to call Mudvayne a “bad hybrid of Slipknot and Korn.” Because they’re clearly a GOOD hybrid. Like bruh don’t tell me L.D. 50 doesn’t slap.
There’s no reason to review Christian music because even though it can have merit or it can lack merit, the main point of the music is to bring a spiritual experience to the listeners. It’s the only form of music where they weren’t writing it with the main goal of it sounding good.
As a Christian though it should sound good. One of the unspoken fundamental beliefs of Christianity (actually monotheism in general) is that objective beauty does exist, regardless of subjective preference, the reason for this: God is by definition a perfect being meaning he is beauty itself meaning there is an objective standard of beauty. Why is this relevant? Because, it means that the music Christians listen to ought to be somewhat transcendent you can hear this in a lot of older Christian music, such as Gregorian or even some Hymns. But you know it's a little different given today's culture, but Christian music should be in pursuit of an awe-inspiring quality.
Exactly this. The purpose of "worship music" is to foster worship. It's purposefully simple so that a congregation can come together and participate in worshipping through song. The actual musical merits of the song are entirely secondary.
Honestly I kinda agree. Wtf is sleepy music? It irks me when people are super vague. I mean I'm guilty of that too, but I try to be specific when I can.
@@darkmyro maybe they refer to ambient or just drone-y music? idk I'm still confused with that comment to this day, wtaf did they mean when they said "sleepy" music?
in addition to what you were saying about hamilton being classist or not, it's worth considering that big productions like that need large theater space and the types of cities that are willing to invest in the arts in that way tend to be large, mostly liberal cities where cost of living and prices in general are going to be higher
I feel like there’s no winning with that mindset. How could a project like that ever exist in a lower income area? Sometimes big productions need funding like that. I don’t see what the problem is other than people whining that’s it’s unfair they can’t afford it. I can’t afford a Tesla. Is it classist now? Luxury items and luxury experiences cost money fam.
I’m definitely not opposed to the government paying for things that people absolutely need like healthcare and education, but when it comes to entertainment and luxury items its just so far reaching. It’s like devaluing the people who made those things by putting them in a position where they can’t make an actual return on their hard work, time, and energy.

Sleepy music is my favorite genre and musical movement. Us sleepy people will change the music scene... after my nap. ❤

I have a lot of music that sounds bad on purpose to show you

in addition to what you were saying about hamilton being classist or not, it's worth considering that big productions like that need large theater space and the types of cities that are willing to invest in the arts in that way tend to be large, mostly liberal cities where cost of living and prices in general are going to be higher
In addition classcism inst a fucking real thing.
