    Thanks for posting this Brandon. I remember seeing Matt's original video last year and recently referred to yours now that I am in the market for a new belt. My previous 13 mm leather belt lasted me over 30 years so I am finally treating myself to a new one! At age 60 this will probably be my last belt. I don't lift quite as heavy anymore these days (but still very respectable for an old man!) so I am going for a 10 mm model this time.
    I narrowed my choices to Best Belt and Pioneer. I emailed both of them and even after two weeks, Best Belts never got back to me so I am going with a Pioneer. They recently came out with their "double" hole Pioneer cut which will help fine-tune the fit so I now have one on order. Not only did they answer a couple questions I had in a timely manner but they also called me to confirm my order specifications.
    Best Belts probably also makes a great belt but unfortunately their customer service leaves something to be desired.
    Looking forward to my new Pioneer belt!

      Appreciate the insight, I hope you like the belt in that case! Matt's always been great with his customer service. One of my issues with Inzer is it took 8 weeks to get a basic belt and their customer service was really poor.

  • @Kelvinjan
    @Kelvinjan 6 років тому +12

    Really informative! I've got an inzer lever and while it's been good to me, there are times where I wish the edges weren't so stiff because sometimes it really digs into my skin. Thought about a Pioneer but they're not IPF approved and it seems like a risk since I compete - best belt seems like the next best choice besides SBD. Unfortunately $230 for another belt seems a bit over the edge for me right now.

    This is the best and most insightful video I have found on the internet and I appreciate how thoroughly you tried to inform us. If I was to give some constructive feedback, you don’t show us the inside of yours, which is a bit suspicious... I’m sure you’d have one around that you could cut up. And I was disappointed that you didn’t list any (real) cons for your own belt. What kind of person shouldn’t be using your belt. The only reason is that you tell us how other brands misinform buyers about meeting regulation widths and about what’s inside... so it’s natural that I would apply the same thought process to your belt as well. Awesome channel. Gonna subscribe.

    I write as a leatherworker, the " cheap stuff " which is not leather is 99% a material that doesent extends and it is an improvement, you would not preffer only leather for this purpose because the belt will deform, veg tan soaks the perspiration and being veg tan it will lengthen and deform. :D

    • @miguelcardenas8490
      @miguelcardenas8490 Рік тому

      Kinda seems reasonable moreso because the inzer 10 mm one has 6.5mm vegetable tanned leather and 1 to 2 mm robus leather z that's why the insert 10mm in reality is closer to 12mm and the 13mm closer to 14mm. The 10 mm ihas as much leather as a pioneer 10mm one but due to the extra stiffener gauges more. So Matt is not being real only on the 10mm version since inzer is cheaper and offers the same amount of leather.

    • @pavelvasilache6111

      there is a material named talin, really thin, but gives a nice consistency, also pytex, less good, or other more towards the skin cuts, but chrome taned that are less | alive than veg tan, ofcourse, it is important what you want, if you want it to get more on your shape, veg tan is the best, if you want it to keep shape, it isn't

    Pioneer was my first belt, but being the naive person I was, I thought I HAD to have an approved brand for USAPL competition so I went out and bought an Inzer. That being said I think I like my Inzer a little more. I like that is stays stiff (that's what she said). Makes me feel a little more secure I guess. If I can convince the wife in a few years, I'd like to get me a lever Pioneer belt.
    All that said, Matt, you should have cut one of your belts to include in this video. You must have had at least one in the back you could have sparred. Just for comparison as the others.

However the black one is not vegetable tanned, camo ones I'm not sure seems suspicious but the brown one it's vegetable tanne. However control quality is bad af, if I would recommend one would be the 120 usd brown cowhide but just a heads up your belt could be way less than 13mm due to quality control

    How in the world is Inzer even still in business? I was about to buy from them based on the web site claiming it was a single piece of leather, when in reality, as shown in the above video, it's pieces glued together. This is exactly what it says right on their web site: "All Inzer Forever Belts ™ are one solid thickness of the finest, select, exclusive leather. It is not layers glued together cheaply to make thickness as some other brands that can come loose years later." I don't doubt it's still a great belt. But that's just blatant false advertising. How has no legal action been brought against them? I'm shocked anyone would still but from a company that blatantly rips it's cutomers off. You get a different product than what is advertised AND the bonus of horrible wait times. Really, just blows me away they're getting away with this.
