A few answers to the frequently asked questions I'm seeing: 1) How much did the government pay you? Answer: Nothing, I was paid $0 to make this video. I just took a private trip to China and brought my cameras. 2) Was this a government-sponsored trip? Answer: No, I chose the factories I wanted to visit and a Florida-based bicycle trade group helped me with connections. I'm just a private guy with a few cameras. 3) What if the factories hid the stuff they didn't want you to see? Answer: They probably did. 4) Why aren't you eating meat? Answer: Health and environmental reasons. Why does what I eat bother you so much? 5) Why didn't you go to a labor camp? Answer: Because my channel is about bikes so that's what I went to see. When I visit the US for videos, I don't go film the child labor abuses or lack of affordable health care. 6) Why do you support the CCP? Answer: I don't. I ride bikes. I hope this helped answer any burning questions!
Dude , any one that brings in that kind of cameras will be let go without the cameras and videos and just in case you get lost or make a wrong turn there will be some ( local ) to help you
Not surprised to see these questions. Anyone making a positive video about China always gets them. These are people that either have been brainwashed by the media or are racist fools who cannot accept that a country like China can be civilized and innovative. Keep doing what you like. Been enjoy watching you and your dad having fun on your farm.
I watched your video with great nostalgia. I am a retired software engineer and 15 years ago I was sent to Beijing to train a group of young engineers to join my development group. I didn't want to go, but after some gentle persuasion I went. For a month I taught and worked with the sweetest group of young people that you could imagine. They were so attentive to my every need never even fell asleep in my long technical lectures. :-) We had very open talks about everything under the sun at noon while we walked in the industrial park. We remain friends to this day. Thanks for the memories.
As an American, it was a pleasure to watch your journey through this beautiful country. China is without a doubt going to be one of the leading countries in the future, if not the top one. Much love to China!
Yes, that was an amazing video tour. But watch some of Serpentza's videos. He toured China on a motorcycle, so the footage covers both the good and the bad (gutter oil). I think he was there for 6 years. I think the haters dislike China for the government, and for the American corporations who source crap from the Chinese factories based solely on price point rather than quality. Chinese factories can easily produce both.
@@ljprep6250 Serpentza lives in an apartheid south africa and he hired some propagandist & falun gong to film fake videos. The chinese government is one of the most successful governmental system in the world, anyone who said otherwise are just lying to themselves. I dont hate the americans, i hate their government and christian cult.
I never thought I could get a culture shock from a video, but here it is. What an amazing journey for me. To be able to watch you go through China and show me what it's like rather than the BS given to me by Western media and the government was just wonderful. The people seem so polite and peaceful and welcoming and kind. I've traveled a lot but never to China but now I have to put them on my list. I'm sure it has its less than inviting parts like any country does but this certainly did change my view.
I went to meet my best friend in her home town of Chung Ching in 2014, (the city where the "Last Emperor Puyi" resided when he was forced out of the Forbidden City in 1912). This was a first time visit to China but not the Orient for me. My BF went for 3mo to visit her parents so they could meet their 18mo granddaughter. My 2.5 wk stay was a great experience. I certainly was the odd one out & many asked if I was from Russia being closer to it's boarder there. The food and people were fantastic, many went out of their way to help. Like every country, you have the good & bad found with it's people (behavior) or government (things often seen in the infrastructure & maintenance that give the impression of poverty). However, I'd return again to visit if given an opportunity. 😇
My best friend is Chinese. I started doing business with China in 1984. I was in the electronics business and one of the largest distributor of computer hardware in the state of Indiana. I sold that business and later became a licensed exporter of acholic beverages, exhibiting American wines at Wine and Spirits Exhibits in major cities in China. The people are incredible considerate and extremely generous. Although, they will push and shove to get to the front of the line. Their business practice is unethical and difficult to deal with. It is customary to lie, exaggerate and renege on an agreement. That is their standard procedure. In my Electronic business, I often would receive counterfeit Microsoft Software and hardware and turn it into Microsoft. China does not abide by international patents. You must file an additional patent in China and it still won't stop the counterfeiting. Their government subsides many of their manufacturers and levy unfair taxes and import duties on foreign competition. USA wine producers must pay over 100% duty, plus taxes and fees. To get influence in Chile, they are charged 0%. China still receives developing nation status, even though they are the largest exporter in the world. They are not required to meet pollution standards and are the largest polluters in the world today. Their GDP is fake and they abuse the financial system and utilize their borrowed money to loan-shark and buy influence throughout the world. It is now coming to a head and they are desperate because they are exposed. Their economy is spiraling down and it's too late to make any meaningful changes to save it. Foreign investment has dried up and manufacturing is relocating to business friendly countries. If you travel there, you should consider what you eat. They have found that the slaughter houses employees are taking organs that are not for consumption and selling it to restaurants. Sanitary conditions are lacking. China is in economic decline and won't recover for decades if at all.
@@dougamos229what you said here might be partially true 20 year's ago, but most of those thing's have gone away nowadays. you probably didn't visit the country for too long and you yourself is a little old to refresh your perceptions.
Now we got the 144hours visa-free policy for many western countries ,it may be more convenient for you to visit here ,all you need is to provide the leaving ticket that you booked previously.😊
China has progressed for quite a while now but western media don't show, thus your culture shock. Do go visit n see for yourself. Just make sure u have a mobile with internet connection 😊
Really enjoyed this trip with you, Micah. Remembering the images from China in the 70s and 80s (yes, I'm old) with all the Chinese bike traffic jams, I find it fascinating that now they are producing the very bikes we are riding now with the coolest technology.
Yes! When New York Cosmos visited China in 1977, players were deeply impressed by the number of bicycles, among other things. I remember reading somewhere that one of the players wondered how people would find their bikes after the game.
Yes and local governments in CN have confiscated over 30k ebikes in just a couple of days for being unsafe. Quite the irony while they subsidize EV with much more batteries
@@chinesesparrows EVs have much stricter safety standards. Their size and complexity allow the installation of battery management systems that can protect the battery from unsafe working conditions. E-scooters, on the other hand, are cheap and usually don't have those advanced battery management systems.
I have to admit, I’m not really in the market for an e-bike, but I found this video very interesting. The people of China seemed to be very friendly and accommodating. Although it appeared that you had a busy schedule, it looked like you really enjoyed yourself. Looking forward to seeing more videos.
Over 15 years ago, I completed my MBA. Much of it was spent studying the emerging Chinese economic miracle. It left me so curious that I quit my management job with a top U.S. corporation and moved there. I spent about 2 years in China on a business visa. During that time, I traveled to all of the major factory cities on the east coast, including Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Shanghai. I was expecting to find a series of dirty, badly-run operations that put out junk. What I found instead was closer to what was shown in this video. The reason for most of the bad impression about Chinese goods is mostly due to the American entrepreneurs who tend to only import the junk that they can make the most money on. Example: I went to several Chinese furniture stores in average shopping centers and malls, in multiple cities. These stores catered to the Chinese middle class. What I saw was stunning, ultra-high quality furniture that was sturdier, more elegant, and made of better materials than anything I'd seen in the U.S.. It was also NOT cheap. With respect to the local purchasing power parity (PPP), it was on par with the premium stuff you buy in the West. The point is that a Westerner would NEVER know this, unless they actually went to China and really saw this stuff up-close and in multiple places. I'm all for bringing manufacturing back to America, but be aware that 1) we have no monopoly on brains and hard work and 2) the Chinese work damn hard! The average 21st century Chinese worker has the work ethic of an early-20th century American. In other words, they believe a job is not a right, but a privilege. Yeah, there have been worker protests in places like Foxconn, but in the majority of Chinese blue collar workers (some of whom I knew socially) were damned proud of their work, their companies, and their country. China ain't perfect, but its also not North Korea. They can manufacturer some pretty great stuff. It's no surprise that BYD has surpassed Tesla in the EV market. While the U.S. raises tariffs to keep the products out, BYD is going to be building factories in other parts of the Americas.
@@EduruChan Uhhhh... sorry, pal. North Korea is as fucked up as is claimed. One thing I learned during my time in China was that even average Chinese think North Korea is weird. NK has no real commercial export. They have no industrial economy for consumer goods. Kim fears any sort of capitalism... including the brand of it practiced in China. So much so, that he deposed and murdered his own uncle who was a senior official who advocated Chinese style economic reform. No, sir. NK is not the same as China.
Chinese goods having a bad rap is well earned. Not sure what income level you've achieved to not buy the things I'm forced to. But shiney garbage is still garbage.
This was such a wonderful video! I watched all the tours on the other channel and this one. It’s amazing how those workers are treated. We need to learn a lot from these people and their appreciation for their employees. The US needs to do better in that field. And I can’t wait for the US to be like them when it comes to different forms of electric transportation. Thank you for taking us along with you on this epic tour.
Love this video so much, not only for the e-bike content but how you get to show your audience a side of China many wouldn’t get to see, that shows we are more alike than different. Wonderful!
Great video. I have always admired the Chinese People since i was a child. They are industrious, persevering and humble. Dunno bawt haters with bitterness about China. 😊
I’m a 72-year old grandma and have absolutely no interest in e-bikes. However, I was curious about your visit to China and your overall experience while you were there. Western media has fed us so many negative aspects of China and from what I saw in this video, nothing could be further from the truth. China is a very modern and innovative country. It is way ahead with the use of its high speed trains or bullet trains, the factories, the treatment of its employees, the cleanliness, etc. . . Those factories sure did not look like sweat-shops to me. In any event, I was very impressed with the content of this video and your overall experience in China.
You haven't even BE THERE. And you talk this positively about China. There are good and bad sides. You also just believe this type of media. Factories always have this "show factory" which is a small part where everything looks nice for western consumers to visit. The real factory is hidden, and do look like sweat-shops. They never show that to western visitors.
as a Chinese i can say this video is definitely the good part of China. and there are things that is not so good but it will take much longer time to find out or understand. for example the people who drive cars for drank people or lady clean the street didn't make a decent salary. sweat shop still exist but very rare. because when technology kick in and improve the efficiency, you need 10 people that can do the job instead of 100. but i do hope China can be better in the future and people out side China can know my country better. when i study in Germany, every one ask me about social Credit but i never heard about it. and things like this did bothering me for a while.😂
I'm Chinese. I really want to work in such a “sweat-shop”. The monthly income of working here is enough for 5-10 families to live in China. And free food, accommodation and medical care.😂 And China's medical services do not need to wait in line
Very interesting to see Chinese innovation 😊 They have come so far technologically in such a short time, and they have improved manufacturing techniques to tweak everything to whatever price point is specified. Easy bullet train access, the food delivery system you described, it sounds like living in the future already in many ways. It is very good to learn from each other 😊
If you can stand your mind being blown, Google Chinese bridges and construction, highway interchanges. Their infrastructure engineers and construction prowess is absolutely amazing: Replacing a major urban overpass overnight, building a 300(?) bed hospital in 2-3 weeks, building mountain bridges like legos, the list goes on ...
I lived in Shanghai for almost 6 years and was super excited to see it again. And of course while staying there I couldn't imagine my life without an electric scooter, as a matter of fact, Yadi one. Very affordable to buy, almost free to run and maintain and relatively safe to ride as there is almost always a designated bike lane anywhere you go. Thanks for an awesome tour, keep up bringing more affordable electric products to the west
China has beautiful people and i love the electric cities ,trains and packed lunches ,no stealing ,clean air ,quiet cities because of electric vehicles ,,everything is amazing ,makes me want to visit China and wish we had all those things .
You can park your bike unlocked overnight at the roadside and come back the next day it is still be there. No one will touch it. Maybe only strong wind in the night will blow and it falls on the ground.
That's a complete lie. Your bike would be gone. There are tons of pickpockets. Even organized crime who cut off people's limbs so they can get more money from panhandling. Clean air? Anyone can search the air quality index in China and see the complete devastation that's going on right now. This video is full of comments from liars and people who have no idea what real life in China is like for normal ppl.
For the same cost of living, I can't find another country that offer this level of safety, convenience, entertainment, and cleanliness. China is making a lot of right decisions.
A truly outstanding video featuring what appears as China's premiere E-bike manufacturers. As a retired Sr. Product Designer with nearly 50 years experience, I can appreciate the quality of product shown in your video. Thank You for letting us ride along with you...Rick.
Im Ukrainian living in Ireland, I have couple of chinese people in my English class, they are the most kinder people that I ever had seen, I really want to go to see the China 😊
Only thing I DONT like about China as a country is their government policies, ESPECIALLY with their neighboring countries water disputes and Taiwans freedom
I've recently been on a 2 weeks trip to China, mainly the province of Shanxi, and Shangai too. The trip was mostly cultural (thousand years old temples, historic cities and sites) but I also visited a huge production facility for traditional Chinese spirits, sold in all of Asia and worldwide (bringing in good currency). The degree of automatisation and robotisation was amazing, with robot driven huge warehouses. And the capacity of the company is targeted to double in the coming year or so. Doubling capacity seems a smooth process : a lot of space available, land and grains for the raw materials, lots of suppliers around for the equipments and easily customised standardised blueprints for chains and warehousing (like the train stations that are modern, spacious and very similar from one place to another). Not to mention the rate at which the country visibly adopts and scales digital techs and also AI, in big cities , in stores, on new cars, phones and televisions . Impressive.
I was in China several times - first in 87, and then every couple years. The progress they did its just unbelievable, specially when you see that from USA. Everything is in a high quality education - accessible to everyone. China is now just returning in its place where China was for thousands years. Private expensive schools make very rich couple people, quality public schools make very rich a whole country...
Awesome video! I was so impressed with the amount of combustion engines that have been replaced! I remember as a kid asking myself why anyone would choose a nitro RC car over a litho. Battery powered is the way to go.
Great video and content. As an American I enjoy learning about different cultures and in particular Chinese culture. The American mainstream political media system would have us believe everything China is cheaply made by children in sweat shops. If I had the means to travel the world, China would definitely be high on my destination list. We in America could learn a lot from different cultures and economies. Stop going to war with countries whom you deem a threat and grow up America. Bullies always lose in the end. Peace ✌️
I stand by your comment, especially at the end. I hate to admit this, in it with each passing day, I loathe my country more and more. This video made me realize just how much our media has thwarted our views towards China. I'm legit envious of them now.
it's extremely affordable to visit eg, 40c subway ride, $2 for 20 min Didi (uber) ride, $60/ night 4 star hotel or $20 for locals hotel, local food very cheap too
And what about China talking trash about the United States with propaganda and Social Credit looming over the heads of everyone who talks bad about China?
@@ChicoBlanca6977then ask yourself. Why are there so many Chinese fleeing to USA. And why are there more and more at the Mexican border? They fly to South America then flee to USA. The numbers are rising. Mostly this is an indicator its not going well in China. Why so many Chinese want to move to USA? Can u explain that? And why little to no people move to China?
@HermanWillems Good question. The wages in the US are 7-8 times higher than those in China. What do you think? If I could sneak into the US, I would want to do that. Of course, some people may do it for political reasons.
I worked for a spell in China back in the 1980’s. After watching this, it’s like watching a totally different country. I was in the north east of China, where steam trains were still running. There were huge numbers of bikes in Beijing, but they certainly weren’t e bikes. They used abacus in the shops. Incredible what can be achieved when your government is not obsessed with warmongering
In 2000. When my uncle took us to pick up a dude at Airport coming from USA coming back after 20 years. THAT guy STICK his HECK at side of car for like 1 hour. CONSTANTLY having--LARGEST LARGEST culture Shock! He did NOT understand it looked Identical to New York. N more advanced in many places. Just SHOCK. EVERYWHERE. N can NOT believe now actually Advanced it was Already. 24 year later today…
This was a great video. I rarely make it through anything over 30 minutes or even 20 minutes. I was fascinated by the whole China culture experience more than anything. The real-life views and experiences were awesome and enlightening. ❤
We just came back on a trip to China with our kids. It is definitely much easier to travel now by ourselves than 16 years ago. Booked all the hotels and HSR trips myself and paid everything using Alipay or WeChat and sometimes cash. They embrace electrification in all their vehicles. It really does make the cities like Beijing and Shanghai have better, cleaner air and a lot more quiet! The subway trains are also very clean, well connected and cheap!
Well not for much longer! When they get the Power of Siberia 2 pipeline going, they can use the natural gas (cleaner energy source) which Russia use to sell to EU, now directed to China to power their factories. After which they can stop buying all those coal from Australia and stop getting blamed for it. A win-win arrangement for both nations!
Really ? You think the people have "embraced" electric ? I guess you would have no choice when the government of China says, "this is what you will use", it's not by choice the Chinese people use electric vehicles, it's because that is what they have been told they will use, by the government
@@commonsense8012 Why does a person who has never been to China always feel that he knows China very well, knows more about China than those tourists, and knows more about China than we Chinese people! What a spectacle
I have been paying attention to China for a number of years and I have to say that I would love to visit. It is intriguing how well they do everyday things. I am familiar with all of the products discussed in this video and they are well made. I unfortunately would in the past say bad things about Chinese products. I have seen from experience that if a product is not meeting their standards they improve it. Great video, I think that perhaps I should visit China and see for myself.
I am a Chinese American. I would like to retire in China if I have the opportunity. China, once led the world for a couple of thousand years, was looted by western powers for a century. It took them a few decades to recover. They deserve the credit when it’s due. Thank you!
All the hotel rooms look super nice. I thought it was very respectful that the founder ate with the workers, I wish more CxOs here associated the same way. It has to promote a feeling of collaboration and unity which is wonderful in any business.
Those CxOs in China build the company from scratch, most of them are from humble beginnings, their parents are probably assembly line workers or farmers. My cousin, is a second generation small factory owner, he took over the factroy from his dad. He has a hard time bossing everyone around, since most of the workers there are my uncle's friends, they built the factory together. He might be the new boss, and people take orders from him, but he's still a little brat in their eyes.

And the countries with people who can buy these cars as they are priced prettt high still compared to gasoline... u dont buy it easily with an average BRIC country salary. And in the west the Chinese cars are sold in super tiny numbers. Here in Netherlands the harbors are full with unsold Chinese EV's. BYD even phasing out 2 models because they sold bad. Yes it is very advanced after years of stealing product secrets from global companies. What an accomplishment! Oh wait, most of the population is rural and without access to clean water, electricity or non-toxic food....but let's focus on the wonder of e-bikes, and how they explode lol. Zero politics, all facts (from people living there and fleeing).
You should not be surprised. Things are different in China. Companies are mostly government-owned but management-operated. The Managers are treated well by the government - they trust them with running the factories. These "bosses" (managers) treat run their departments as if the department were their own factory. Family-oriented, often located hours away from civilization. Therefore, being part of a sports team, and other recreational activities is a must for everybody. The day beginnings with the boos walking around and greeting everybody and handing out some small things like a cigarette. I travelled to China and especially Shanghai in the mid 1980s. The air was from ICE vehicles, industrial factories and coal patties for cooking. Not too good for a person with asthma or COPD. These ebikes and vehicles all look amazing. Can't wait to visit again. Cheers.

Our western media really did a great job to make China like a uninnovative boring scary parallel world, especially the shock after visiting there by ourselves is quite amusing for everyone. Nice video, bro.
Not sure how this was in my feed but well produced video! I had little interest in e-bikes but was here for the 50 mins tour of China and very surprised on how clean and advanced it appeared
Two small things stood out for me and. The first was being able to post on the noncompliant power bank to your hotel. In the UK it would have been confiscated . The other was the service for drunk drivers. To drive their own cars home with putting their return electric scooters in the boot. Both of these are excellent ideas which could be done in any country.
In UK you cannot send LI battery items just like that. Depending on battery size (who knows how much?) it must have officially a UN3481 label ... never seen them to buy at Royal Mail. Here in the rail nobody checks for power banks or x-rays your luggage (nor sure about the Euro tunnel). Here they only complain at certain times if you enter the train with 2 pieces of luggage, not that that was made clear before booking the ticket, because they want to make you pay more ... Only on the planes there is a size limit, about 20000mAh. Above that better read the details. And in general, LI batteries are not really safe. Hence these rules. OOPS.
Here in Australia, I was traveling to another city via domestic airport, they claimed my battery was over the limit in capacity, they said I either need to throw it away or store it for $10 a day until I come back. At the end, I had to throw it away as it is costing me way more than just buying another one.😢
Thoroughly enjoyed your visit to China ! Such beautiful landscaping everywhere . Many Americans believe China is just rice paddies and mountains . Your visit showed us that China is a beautiful place with very modern factories, creating the highest quality of products . Would love to visit ,the people look so friendly and inviting . The Chinese have a reverence for the environment that is awe-inspiring . Electric bikes and vehicles prove that point . Again ,loved the visit and giving us Americans a real view of the country . Thank you so much .
I’ll be honest in saying since starting to watch your UA-cam videos on Chinese made machineries it’s given me a different appreciation for small but compact machinery and the quality at which China now makes them in comparison to our fuel guzzlers American made ones. Getting ready to start a project in Belize and the L1400 loader will surely be one of the equipment I’ll probably purchase.
When I noticed the video is 50 minutes long, I was going to skip it. But the content is so varied and interesting, I watched the entire video ! Nice job. Thank you. it is interesting to note that Chinese factories are not like the backyard junk shops after the communists took control of the country. Not only did it learn from foreign countries, but improved on what they learned. It seems the world is split into two, one driven by traditional Internal Combustion Engines, and an electrified one like what is shown in the video, and in China. The US is determined to hang on to the traditional way, as demonstrated by Joe Biden who is desperate to retain jobs for the auto workers, all for political expediency. Judging by the electrified vehicles in China, it is obvious that China is not waiting around for the US, or Europe, to see the benefits of EV. The west can go their own way, and who knows if they might finally become "born again EV" users.
I'm glad you gave it a chance! I was worried it would be too long, and I actually cut a lot, but there was so much to see that I had trouble shortening it even further...
It is a Chinese cultural tradition that one feels joy when a friend from afar comes. And I see that every factory here adheres to this tradition without exception.

I fly to China every 10 days or so….exclusively to Shanghai. I have been very pleasantly surprised at this jewel of a city. The people are very friendly, hard working, honest and dependable. The city itself is immaculately clean, more modern and better built than ANY city in USA. It rivals Tokyo in cleanliness and beats Tokyo in infrastructure in my opinion. But I believe the openness and warm hospitality of the people is what makes this my favorite large city I have ever been to….great video
So how many impoverished elderly street sweepers did you see keeping that city clean? Lol it's easy when you have lots of cheap or free labor. Curious to see your description of the same people who scam their own people into eating toxic food just to make a few cents. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

Love this video and how you portrayed not only the products but the people and process behind the products. Totally agree with your takeaway at the end, "it's not where something is made or even who it's made by, but rather HOW it's made, whether it has the care that goes into making a quality product. At the end of the day, that is the real difference."
So impressed by your video. Amazing how clean and organized the factories are. Like any country, there is the good side and the bad. Chinese people are so polite and kind and efficient. The Chinese ladies are pretty and so polite. Thanks for the very interesting video on how the Chinese industry has made inroads in the market. Cheers
I watch China videos for knowledge and some insights as I'm planning to visit China and I totally avoid those China-hater's comments. I'll go there and see for myself which would also include the lower tier cities.
I was fortunate enough to be able to spend a little over a month in China in 2007. I have wanted to go back but with the Anti-China PR I was afraid it wouldn’t be as much fun. After watching your videos maybe I’ll go back for another trip. Thank you.
If you believe in those anti-china pr, please don't go there, or else, you would come back a different person, and they'll say that you got brain-washed
I went there in 2007 also - before the iPhone was launched. I experienced the Shanghai maglev reaching 431 km/h. It was mind blowing. Went back again last year. we were able to take the subway from Shanghai all the way to Suzhou. The Suzhou leg of the subway trip was fully autonomous. So many fond memories...
E-commerce is a seriously huge business in China, you can easily order many things online, that's why you see so many e-bikes/scooters on the streets of China, delivering packages and foods!
I'm 74 and bought a ride1up bike two years ago after I wasn't able to peddle up hills on my trusty diamondback bike as before. I like the feel and quality of the Ride1up and would encourage people to check out all the different makes and models to find one that best suit their needs.
Often Shanghai has pollution so bad you can't see down the street. There are great things there. But there is lots of supper bad stuff.. this video shows China's best side.
Most of all, I came away with a Nicer Feel towards China. You know, we get a lot of Politics in US Media these days. Maybe some of it is true, some is Propaganda and some is just lies too. But your content was positive and really left me with that warm sort of friendlier impression of China and it's people. Nice Job.
I loved how clean and well presented everywhere in that video appears. China is a country I always said I wouldn't mind visiting, now it's a country I definitely want to visit. I always found their citizens to be kind, gentle and respectful, never rude or threatening and highly productive people who are always striving for better. Living in the UK is now like a third world country, the government here has allowed the whole country to become disgustingly dirty and unkempt, with litter and debris strewn on every road and grass a metre tall, it's embarrassing to say the least.
Cannot agree more the standards in the UK going down year by year based on the lowest denominator. I have visited China twice and HK three times and been impressed each time. This video makes me want to go back as it is 16 years since my last visit . To see a country moving forward is fantastic I can only assume that Governments are embarrassed at China's improvements while the UK stagnates. Finally the people are great, polite, friendly and hard working. Hope our country can learn from China move forward to make a better life for everyone.
@@cathalwright5611 That's prolly why these governments constantly slander China. That way, people will think that the current situation in their countries normal and not a result of government corruption and laziness, when that's actually the case. It would probably be a wild experience for you to go back and experience the improvements in China in person after 16 years.
HK is part of China😊My husband is a British American and he always says China and HK. I have to remind him. We live in Texas and don’t put the United States and Texas in the same sentence, do we?
What a fantastic video! Thank you for giving us a sense of the REAL China, rather than the one portrayed by our government and mainstream media. Your factory-tours and interactions with owners and employees were insightful and refreshing, in a world that has grown to hate industry and think the worst of every Chinese business. It really is not difficult to see and understand WHY they continue to succeed, as well as surpass American industry in general ( and I happen to LOVE America). Most folks don't realize how far their quality-control has come, in the past couple decades. Again, thank you for sharing your reality with us.
Cool video, I go to China occasionally and yes, there are camera's everywhere, it can be overwhelming if like me you only speak English BUT, people are always friendly and helpful, the food is amazing, the countryside outside of the cities is beautiful. Go see for yourself, the Chinese are just like the rest of us, they want nice a peaceful live, with nice things, and they make cool ebikes
I wish there could be more cameras in the area I live. Last year over fifty cars were burned in the parking place and the police had no clue. Same thing won’t happen in China, they can find out a thief who just stole a mobile within very short time.
What a busy trip! I'm very impressed with your energy to travel one or two places everyday for a week. I'm also impressed that you are able to handle the transportation in between. As a Chinese, I heard most of the places but for some of them I don't know where they are either. When I mapped them out on google map, I saw a big circle over 3000km. I believe this is an impossible trip like 10 years ago without the extensive high speed rail coverage. This circle also makes me a little sad as every place is in eastern China, I hope in your next trip there will be some places from central or western China.
I’m not an e-bike owner, more so an e-scooter and EV car owner. Nevertheless, this video is very informative and I love seeing how manufacturing is carried out in China which is an eye-opener
Hello and thank you. I live in CALIFORNIA, and I love looking at your videos You show me things I would never get to see. I am 58 and do not drive any more. I stopped eating meat a long time ago I understand.
Wow, this is an amazing video. Learn so much on how these are out together in China. Most impressed with these Chinese companies and how interesting and personal you have tell the story.
I thoroughly enjoyed this trip report. I had the fortune to see China from a different perspective about 14 years ago. My wife fell and fractured her pelvis. First she was in a Chinese hospital. It was not up to the standard I am used to. After she transferred to a private clinic I had time to wander the streets and observed things you would not see as a tourist. I was positively impressed. Cleanliness, politeness and fascinating cultural experiences. I will never forget the experiences.
Stubborn Taiwanese just don't understand what E bikes can do to improve air quality in the Cities. They still ride on very polluting bikes powered by 2 stroke petrol engines.😅
Awesome video work. Im in China, you captured a good slice of life here. Difficult to understand until you visit or live here and even then after years here, it’s still Mind Blowing.
I just bought a Chinese motor. The starter broke on the 3rd use. Bought a solar street light. It wouldnt light for more than 1 hour a day when rated for all night. It died in 2 months service.Chinese products are affordable junk with a few exceptions.
Great video as usual. Your trip reminds me of my trip to China Beijing and Taiyuan in 2019. Beijing we had a long wait in one of the many seating areas eventually got to jump on train to go to Taiyuan. While in Beijing we walked the Great Wall, it was November so found it to be very cold. I saw many electric scooters the same as you. And many electric car. I liked the GWM iQ and the Geely 40kWh electric Taxi. The older BYD e6 taxis tend to swing around corners. I thought older style battery bus with polls on the roof for top up while in certain parts of their routes where interesting and they drop the pole when the above cables came to an end. The more modern battery bus talks to passengers telling them where they are and the next stop in Chinese and English. My wife took me there and I got to meet her family. We also eat out a lot and I enjoyed the food, people history and cities. My best trip ever 😊
It is amazing to see an unbiased view on how things are made in China. As you've said, it is not about where it is made, it is about who makes and how they are commited to surpass expectations.
The manufacturing aspects was very interesting, it would appear the Chinese are just like most every other human not radicalized by propaganda, nice, friendly and pleasant to deal with.
In fact, most of the media we have seen since childhood is belittling China and appreciating Japan, Europe and the United States, especially the "we media". The Chinese government does not say that China is the best. About one-third of the news we see every day is the trivia of celebrities, one-third is what is happening in China, and one-third is what international countries are doing. When I was a kid I thought we were the worst country, other countries were noble and kind, didn't steal, everyone was good at learning, I really thought corruption was only in China. In fact, when I went to college and used a VPN to come to UA-cam, I was really surprised by how much negative Chinese news was overwhelming. When the summer floods happen then the government comes to the rescue, as it has for decades. But on UA-cam it was narrated that the CPC had evil changed the climate and caused the floods, then the government abandoned the people and the people lived in hell. I don't know if the Chinese are portrayed as more evil on other platforms of your daily media. A lot of people see Chinese people speaking and reply to Chinese robots, I don't know if it's us being brainwashed or them being brainwashed.
I love this video so much and I want to show it to everyone I know. In fact this video has changed so many thoughts I used to have about China that now it's going to take a long time to rethink my entire life maybe. It was great to see you show how friendly and hospital and professional the people are as well as how much hard work they put in developing quality products. It was also very nice to see how much infrastructure they have. How clean and efficient everything is. How friendly and professional the police are as well as those incredible services like the guys who come and drive people home have been out for a drink. Just an incredible country simply incredible! Thank you Mike for showing us this
Trust me - after watching this video, I instinctively wanted to visit China, or better yet live there for a couple of years! Beautiful country and amazing people!!
Thanks for the video as i was over there four months ago and didn't have the opportunity to capture near as much. We were visiting heavy machinery and renewable equipment manufacturing. With my picture of the typical three wheeler bike driving along a Shanghai road i captioned "why we will never be able to beat them".
Wow! That was probably the best video you've ever done. I was trying to turn it off, but I just kept watching and watching until the end. There are lots of people in the world that are concerned about freedom., the world is becoming more and more dangerous, and bad actors need to be found and isolated. I was absolutely astonished by the amount of surveillance that there was in China. Those in favor of it would say, what are you afraid of? What are you trying to hide? Others would feel that they're freedom is being encroached. So it's an interesting philosophical discussion. I know China has an energy issues, they don't produce any energy so using solar panels and other forms of electrification is certainly part of their way forward to get rid of fossil fuels. I was particularly impressed with the discussion about how the air quality and pollution has been significantly reduced. I remember watching a video number of years ago where a person was wearing a face mask which they had to change every day. But it wasn't being used for disease attenuation, but rather for pollution. They would take it off at the end of the day, and you would see the black marks on the inside showing the pollutants that were trapped in the face mask. I noticed that China is not subscribing to any of these as some would say woke Paris climate initiatives, but rather taking hold of these initiatives themselves for the common good of the country. I was very impressed with the way companies treat their employees. Not only were they giving them food and giving them a great place to work, but also incentivizing them to do a better job. I was highly impressed with the shop floor automation and component tracking on their manufacturing. I've seen videos of Indian factories making e-bikes as well. They don't even come up to a person's ankles with respect to the quality, efficacy, and precision that I saw in your video. I also noted the bullet trains that you were taking call across the country. Certainly a better option than flying or driving or buses. The speed was incredible, and the services that were on the train we're not far from The catered meals that you would get on airplanes. The people that I saw seem to be very respectful, polite, and I was highly impressed with the amount of R&d that was being shown in the various factories. They have realized that if they don't do R&d, they'll be going backwards. Finally, I couldn't help notice you're intrinsic desire to do good, and to donate something on every video to people that were deserving in the spirit of תיקון עולם. Thank you so much for producing this video. I've already re-engaged it with several online groups that I and members of. Well done!

I have been watching documentaries and many different youtube videos from all over the world. One thing I learned never trust the propaganda news media on how they describe the various different cultures. Common people are great everywhere. Just leave your politics at home. This was fantastic.
@@peggyremos I’ll sure second “never trust propaganda news media”. And I couldn’t agree more with your “people are great everywhere”. That said, however, Pre-Covid, we here in Thailand had become quite fatigued with massive, numbers of Chinese tourists, and their hundreds of stinky, smoke billowing busses, swarming over Pattaya. They overwhelmed local authorities, routinely ignoring local laws, by operating Chinese owned shops and restaurants to service the masses, with all proceeds going back to China. It’s not the way tourism is supposed to work. It hurt to see local Thai vendors squeezed out in their own country.

I enjoy all your videos, but this was a very fascinating look at the people and industry in China! Really enjoyed the way you presented your experience!
A few answers to the frequently asked questions I'm seeing:
1) How much did the government pay you?

While the U.S. raises tariffs to keep the products out, BYD is going to be building factories in other parts of the Americas.
yes china is not a aaa student.but not bad.
They also Iied to you about NK
@@EduruChan Uhhhh... sorry, pal. North Korea is as fucked up as is claimed. One thing I learned during my time in China was that even average Chinese think North Korea is weird. NK has no real commercial export. They have no industrial economy for consumer goods. Kim fears any sort of capitalism... including the brand of it practiced in China. So much so, that he deposed and murdered his own uncle who was a senior official who advocated Chinese style economic reform. No, sir. NK is not the same as China.
Great story! Thanks for sharing!
Chinese goods having a bad rap is well earned. Not sure what income level you've achieved to not buy the things I'm forced to. But shiney garbage is still garbage.

My impression of China is the same as yours. Very impressive.
as a Chinese i can say this video is definitely the good part of China. and there are things that is not so good but it will take much longer time to find out or understand.
for example the people who drive cars for drank people or lady clean the street didn't make a decent salary.
sweat shop still exist but very rare. because when technology kick in and improve the efficiency, you need 10 people that can do the job instead of 100.
but i do hope China can be better in the future and people out side China can know my country better.
when i study in Germany, every one ask me about social Credit but i never heard about it. and things like this did bothering me for a while.😂
I'm Chinese.

Most of that cheap ‘clean free’ energy comes from coal fired power plants….

You definitely are so lucky to be there to see those things and meet so many genuinely nice people.
That 3 wheel scooter looked brilliant fun, stable, not like a wobbly hire scooter where your feet are one behind the other

Thank you for showing these wonderful chinese e-bike manufacturer!!
多谢你的客观评价,中国目前还需要努力,另外,你是哪个国家的,我是中国的一名业务专员,主要是做劳动防护
Your comments about the lack of noise with EV's reminds me of the channel @NotJustBikes "Cities aren't loud, cars are loud."
Certain people are louder.
I just came after watching his new video about Tokyo. I wish he would do some tours in China too.
engines are definitely loud, but it's also the tires, so EV's aren't making the noise pollution not terrible. NJB made it very clear many times
@@ashchbkv6965 Tires are noisy at high speeds, if the speed limit is 30 km/h as in Amsterdam and other European cities, its not noisy.
@@udishomer5852 there's no way that cars over a tonne hitting tires on the road aren't noisy, even at 30kmh
I enjoyed this. Well done Micah. That looked like a blast.
I’m not an e-bike owner, more so an e-scooter and EV car owner. Nevertheless, this video is very informative and I love seeing how manufacturing is carried out in China which is an eye-opener
Hi, I am from Malaysia too. Pahang.
MYR hello Malaysian 😊
The E-scooters are a sharp contrast to Taipei, where everyone is still riding on combustion bikes, loud as hell.
Stubborn Taiwanese just don't understand what E bikes can do to improve air quality in the Cities. They still ride on very polluting bikes powered by 2 stroke petrol engines.😅
Yes, they are certainly among the most annoying things in Taiwan, causing lots of air & noise pollution, and invaded pedestrian walkways!!
Can’t wait to have a few trips to different parts of China 🇨🇳 looks awesome
@@Freetofreet 中国有很多很多先进的工厂,欢迎参观。

I knew already a lot about China, but this upload is One big WOW, thanks for sharing. Greetings from a dutchy.
Awesome video work. Im in China, you captured a good slice of life here. Difficult to understand until you visit or live here and even then after years here, it’s still Mind Blowing.
This has been very educational. I enjoyed the video.
It is MIND BLOWING, thank you my friend
It's great to see China producing high-quality, affordable products for the whole world to enjoy!
Including the Xiaomi cell phoneI am using.
high quality ????? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@BradleyIreland yes, very high quality. unless you buy cheap ones or knock offs!

I’m 79 yrs young and I have an electric trike for 3+yrs I love it…! I live in a small town in Thailand and use it every day… it’s great…!
Trust me - after watching this video, I instinctively wanted to visit China, or better yet live there for a couple of years! Beautiful country and amazing people!!
This was unexpectedly fun to watch!
Makes me want to get to know China myself… Well done and thank you. 🙏🏻 😊
Well done!
@@torontovoice1 in the US, if your vehicle is newer than 1995 or so, all the data on where you drive, how fast, and when is sent to the manufacturer who then sells it to LexisNexis… who resells it to insurance companies and others.

The US has tremendous surveillance you just don’t know about it and it’s not all obvious cameras.
The employees also get to live in a dorm so they don't have to get an apartment.
Same for some student, they live in a free dorm, 3 meals a day, a safe environment to study because the government know most parents are in another city working so they can't take care of them.
Thank you for taking time to express your views on what you see in this video. Most of all, I am extremely impressed by your unbiased and objective comments. Those who keep saying China’s high speed train system is a white elephant project because of profitability should learn what it means to the economy as a whole by watching your frequent and highly productive trips.
i think when it came to a halt because of pirated adobe software was when the white elephant remarks started,
@@willthix3822 That's not even relevant to the characterization of the high speed railways as a white elephant project.
In any case, the train that was allegedly affected by the Flash deactivation was a metro train in some city in northeast China. Not the highspeed railway system
Whatever colour the elephant is, there are worse things than investing in infrastructure.
People who call fast railways white elephants don't know the concept of economic Corridor of which the railways are but a base.
@@willthix3822 That's not pirated, but licensed and distributied under a special extension agreement between Adobe and a Chinese software company (which doesn't have a good reputation, unfortuantely) after Adobe offically announced the discontinuation of Flash.
E-bikes are truly a transitional positive step into the future. The only thing that I am concerned about is the road rage state of mind that plagues are metropolitan areas.
Thanks for sharing your tour and the insights of a totally different Chinese culture that those younger generations are truly happy in their dedication and loyalty to working as a team player.
So, you covered everything but Chinese Battery factories. So much to take in with this video. China is an amazing place. That DIY battery book looks VERY interesting !
