    First off, wanted to say thanks for all your vids and knowledge. I listened through many of them and learned a lot. I’m venturing into buying my first set of stiff knee sleeves after just running w rehbands from back in the day. General question: as I navigate all the options how do I know if a taper profile or cone or hybrid will work best for me and my massive leg measurements? I see all these ppl talking about having big calves and the issues w sizing and getting them on, but their “big calves” are seemingly tiny,tiny compared to me so I must be a freak lol. For reference my quads 3-4 inches above knee are 25.5”, knee center 18.5”, calf 20.25”. So I know I’m going to have some fun getting any of these on and off and likely I’m going w the largest sizes anyone offers if they fit me at all. Figured I’d at least ask a pro opinions as I head down the path. Thanks so much for all you do for the community. Just getting back into lifting consistently in my early 40s after a decade of complacency. 6 months in and so far, so good. All my best.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  10 місяців тому +1

      Hey Tom, thanks for the kind words. I think with those measurements one of the hour glass/ergo style sleeves will be up your alley. I fear the cone style sleeve might be too uncomfortable in the calf for you. With any of these sleeves they all scale in size, but for the hour glass shape I'd prob suggest sizing based off your knee as the bottoms will flare out some. I was just sent a pair of the updated Hansu sleeves and they're longer and denser than the ones I show in this video. They might be a great option to try as they're priced really low right now ($55 or so before shipping).

    I came here looking to confirm my bias to buy another pair of SBD, but I might end up ordering Pioneer after watching this video 😂
    I used my large SDB since 2013 or 2015 something like that but they are bunching behind the knee now and the material is a bit broken in some spots.
    I also read that SDB quality went down over the years so I’m a bit reluctant to go for this brand. Idk if there is any truth to that.
    Also I’m hesitating between looking for more compression or thickness, I don’t really want to lose on the rebound.

      I don't think they'll be better, but they may be as good as they look very similar. Right now you can save a few bucks if you want Inzers, but I still prefer the minimal branding of the Pioneers and the lower true MSRP. I recently got a pair of A7 rigor mortis size L and they are tighter than both inzer s and sbd s. They aldo weigh 1.1 pound each. Solid review as always! I've been curious about the Pioneer's since you first mentioned them. At their price, I will give them a shot (likely after next meet), but I'm uncertain of the sizing. Based on your double purchase, it would seem they run small? Both of my current sleeves are soft and I prefer the tighter fit of the SBDs in L, compared to the XL of my Stoic's. I'd assume a XL to XXL would work?

    • @BasementBrandon

      So when we sized mine it was before he went off the calf measurement. That being said I'd still be in an XL. I'd equate these to a comp fit and will be my go to for heavy work. I bought a size up so that I can wear them in my hypertrophy blocks and give my legs a bit of a rest! I'd measure your calf and see where you fall. If you're kind of on the border of sizes, prob better to go up unless you want a comp fit.
