You didn't sound dumb. As a life long Tool fan, Maynard's lyrics are hard; hard to decipher, hard to digest, hard to work through. Some songs are easy (Hooker with a Penis is a diss track to a type of "fan", Ænema is a condemnation of the LA lifestyle, etc) and some require a deep understanding of a subject like this one. Well around 2010, a friend brought up something maynard was speaking on in one of his songs. I argued with the man about what he was saying it meant, I went back home and dug into it on my own..... It's like I was hearing them for the first time all over again. Love that he is doing this...... I really think he would appreciate rage against the machine alot as well. Not as deep as this, but their music ALWAYS has a deep ass meaning to them... And with things going on in the world now, the lyrics mean even that much more!!

"High is the way, but our eyes are upon the ground,
You were the light and the way that they'll only read about,
I only pray Heaven knows when to lift you out,
Ten thousand days in the fire is long enough,
      You're going home!
You're the only one who can hold your head up high,
Shake your fist at the gates saying
      I have come home now,
Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father,
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended!
It's time now! My time now!
Give me my, give me my, wings!!!
It hits me deep because, like Maynard, I'm a nonbeliever but my dad deserves his wings the moment he passes. I don't believe it at all, but if anyone deserves it to be true it's my dad (like Maynard feels about his mom).

The result is something I've told very few people because, as is increasingly apparent, one must be very careful with whom we share. Regardless, it's always been shocking and horrifying and, comes with the same admonishment "you would never do that, would you." To which I first point out the obvious, I don't have the skills necessary to attempt such a thing and, secondly I can't imagine devoting the years required to carry it out. And after many years of contemplation, I've come the conclusion that true evil is more than a random act of violence or, even a deliberate act of violence. It is a very calculated and patient action designed for maximum suffering. The suffering can include death but, death can never be the goal because death is inevitable and how can the dead continue to suffer?
We must be weary that in our efforts to prolong life, we don't unwittingly enable suffering. Right to die comes to mind. The debate seems never ending yet, I've known few who said they would gladly live as a vegetable on life support with the hope of medicine someday being able to heal them.

You're not dumb, you're learning. It's a tough concept for some to grasp. I spent years in school trying to understand it all... Never got it all, but enough to realize what makes others act the way they do.

Thank you so much for finally doing this reaction, I’ve been waiting awhile for it. Doing shadow work is a very difficult thing to do but the best feeling is when you have cleared out and released your trauma wounds and also inner child hood trauma that you don’t even know was still affecting you in your subconscious mind. We unfortunately tend to hold on to all those energies that our ego self used at those times in order to protect us. Our body then stores it in our subconscious mind so if we are in a similar situation we know how to handle it, those energies start to project and run our life this is where Fear, doubt, lack of confidence, needing love, acceptance, validation from others in our society in order to feel happiness and joy and our perception of self worth. The fact is that all of those things can only be achieved within ourselves from ourselves. So what we say, think, and feel for others is exactly how we feel about ourselves and any judgments, negative feelings or assumptions we place on another is what we place on ourselves, because we are all one within this universe. As above so below, the light and the dark we can’t operate in life without our shadow but we can transmute that dark shadow energy into the light and loving energy for true happiness and peace within ourselves. ❤️☀️

"The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek." ~Joseph Campbell
To integrate the darker parts of yourself, your shadow, you have to get super honest, and be willing to feel all the feels you're too afraid to experience because they're overwhelming. Too powerful. If you can tap into that power - accept it, respect it, and learn to harness it - you can use it to embody your full potential, and propel your life into the stratosphere.
The purpose of stepping into your shadow is to step into wholeness.
