FUIYOH did someone mention Uncle Roger??? 😂
No one has replied interesting
You should make a collab to cook Indonesian food
Not bad, not bad
Haiyaaa.... how come so few likes??? What’s going on Uncle Roger?
Not top comment?
Gordon trying to impress uncle roger and acknowledges him. Just wow!
Why impress that moron of a man who does nothing but berate people's cooking skills and makes kid jokes like saying haiyaaa every minute...
Cuz he correct I guess.......
Uncle Roger needs to review this and could be a redemption for Uncle Gordon :)
Who's uncle Roger?
@@saimah1832 You must be fun at parties
As Indonesian, I approve this! Beautiful! Love the shout out to our country! We called this here "mie goreng", literally in english means 'fried noodle'. And we have lots of varieties of mie goreng here. You could basically make any type of mie goreng and mix any type of ingredients here, and as long as it is delicious and many people want to eat it, then we approved it. For those of you who's wondering about the authenticity, don't bother. We Indonesians are the most flexible type of people in the world, we don't adhere to the rules that much. So it's not problems at all to use bacon here. the non moslems in Indonesia also use pork quite generously in their mie goreng. And there is also mie goreng without sweet soy sauce/kecap manis, so it's fine if Gordon not using them. Also indonesians aren't picky with the type of noodles, so you could use any type of noodles you want as long you're comfortable using them.
Great to see people don’t make trouble of this regarding the pork. I see this as a very flexible type of food that almost falls into a category of its own just like pizza is so widely adopted and changed up. I personally would want to try this with shrimp and whatever comes to mind.
Over proud.
Indomie mie goreng takes about 3 mins to assemble

“Uncle Roger, watch carefully” gave me goosebumps.
My favorite part about these videos is how Gordon explains WHY he does some things instead of just doing it. For example, when he adds olive oil to the pan before putting on the bacon he explains that its because it helps render out the fat faster. I learn so much from those small explanations to be a better cook. Love the vids
Is it olive oil though? I always use veg oil for bacon as it’s hotter
You really needed him to tell you that?
@@KP-by4eu I've never heard of using oil with bacon as bacon cooks in its own grease.
@@jelly_robotic8236 unless otherwise stated I believe he always uses olive oil
My favorite part(s) of this video is Gordon inviting Uncle Roger to react.
I love that Gordon has embraced the "pan down" meme. He's so awkwardly wholesome.
May I know where the meme comes from?
So he knows it’s not a correct term? Tilt right!!
@@adrie0999 it’s from his first 10 min cooking. His camerawoman was Meg, Gordon’s daughter 😂😂😂
It was chaotic, you should watch it 😂
“Pan down, Meg!”
@@KIgarashi10969 actually it from his cooking show where the camera man zooms in to the pan too much look at some of his old videos that's why he kept telling her to zoom in🤣
Hard worker this man, even though he's worth a fortune he's still respectful & understanding.
Still making UA-cam videos despite the amount of other things he must be juggling, truly good work Gordon.
Im quite impressed Gordon. For a british guy you did extraordinarily well. Your twist and innovations such as the bacon and sauce was not overdone/culturally offensive as Jamie’s 😂 and they sorta fill in for the things you lack in like the wok and kecap manis that we use in Indonesia. You have definitely redeemed yourself after that ramen slip up. Im excited for your next take on indonesian food. Don’t be like Jamie keep up the good streak! 👍🏻
The uncle roger callouts were hilarious! Can't wait for his reaction.
Looks like an awesome dish as well.
That's why Jamie and Gordon don't mind Roger
Let’s see if he can regain his Uncle Gordon title
pretty cringe
he will probably say something about scratching non-stick pan, however this pan is also can't be scratched I believe.
They just met eachother within the last few weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if a collab is coming
Not only is Gordon a great cook he's a great teacher as well.
It really bugs me that he's using stainless steel utensils on those beautiful nonstick pans...🙃
‘The street food in Indonesia sometimes better in the street than in the restaurants’
Yes you 100% right, chef 😁
The two of you throwing shade at each other is a level of wholesome I did not know I needed.
LOVE him calling out Uncle Roger (in good fun) 😂😂😂😂
Gordon Ramsay really want to impress Uncle Roger so hard with his Asian inspired dishes 😂 It looks great! Delicious 😋
But still cannot get his Uncle title back. Not enough to regain the title because he used wrong noodle, Udon instead of egg noodle or Indomie noodle.
It looks fkn disgusting
living in Indonesia, I must say Gordon nearly nailed it. The only miss steps here are the incorrect noodle use and not using sweet soy sauce (kecap manis). Also we rarely use bacon, we often use chicken meat
@@ajimit8669 he made his own kecap manis
Uncle Roger which is more authentic for Asian street food extra virgin olive oil, or recycled sewer oil? The former isn't available in my country.
Ramsey cracks me up. Doing and using everything he knew uncle Rogers would hate. Too funny. I love his banter haha
Thank you chef, I learn so much from you! You have greatly increased my confidence in the kitchen, and made me try things that I otherwise would not have tried!

I think this is one of the few "10 minute recipes" where 10 minutes is actually achievable for the average person. Only very simple and imprecise knifework is required. I've made it twice and it only takes me about 10 minutes + cooking the noodles (since we use a different variety). It tastes so great.
You're not on enough cocaine bro that's why
Much love to Gordon shouting out Asian Flavour. He loves it, it's not just show. Cheers from a Filipino Canadian, love it
Everything this man touches, looks delicious. Several months ago I was finally able to visit one of his restaurants, one located in Atlantic City, NJ. Ordered some wings as we waited for the main dish...best wings I've ever tasted. I'm definitely gonna head there again, definitely worth it. If you're going to be visiting his restaurant in Atlantic City, I highly recommend you try those wings.
I want to go to one of his restaurants, but I would need to travel for that 😔.

In Indonesia we called it "Mie Goreng" or literally translate as "Fried Noodles". The other Indonesian favourite, just like "Nasi Goreng" (Fried Rice).
Aren't you a little salty that he used Japanese soy sauce instead of Ketjap Asin for his bahmie goreng?
@@Thomogon yes... But most Indonesian people mostly like spicy bakmie goreng rather than the salty one
@@yohaneshanyutub are you going to kill me when I tell you the Chinese took it and they opened "Chinese-Indonesian" restaurants all over the Netherlands? Basically it's very salty, a lot of sweet and sour and I am pretty sure that if any Indonesian person would see that they would have a heart attack... They put pineapple in fried rice...
@@yohaneshanyutub I'm gonna make this recipe but use ketjap instead, add some chicken breast and probably will add a couple teaspoons of sambal
Yes, correct it’s called mie goreng
Since it's an "Inspired" dish, i think it's quite authentic for the end product aside from the Udon. The bacon doesn't really matter since you can use whatever meat you prefer

This man is making Michelin style noodles while I’m eating a random cup noodle I found in my pantry
I love how passionate this man is
It's nice to see how Uncle Roger and Mr. Ramsay both acknowledge each other
Soy sauce, coriander and brown sugar is very smart replacement for our sweet soy sauce or kecap manis flavor..we don't usually use pork, but i dare to say this is quite authentic..great job Gordon 👍

Why no pork
I love kecap manis, use it all the time. Luckily it’s easy to get here in The Netherlands.

One of my very favorite places I have ever been is Malang. This dish definitely reminds me of how wonderful Indonesian street food can be. Looking forward to mastering this and sharing with friends!
Try it with wok to make things easier to cook, and better control, because usually if you aren't mixing it well the taste won't spread evenly, and I for sure can't stir well without a wok...

No, this recipe is not indonesian. Udon is japanese we dont use bacon as we are muslim people. I recommend devina hermawan a real indonesian chef. She also has english sunbstile. You will get the real taste

Thanks for mentioning Indonesian street food.. “mie goreng kaki lima” to be precise. while I’m aware this is Gordon’s own interpretation.. which is gorgeous in its own right! bacon isn’t a common ingredient in Indonesian street food, let alone pork bacon.

Bacon is synonymous with pork in UK. It looked good, but definitely not traditional Indo style.
Pork isn't that rare in indonesia, it's pretty common. While it's true that smoked bacon could be said not common. Nevertheless Mie/Nasi/Kwetiaw goreng B2 is still easily reachable in most of the big cities in Indonesia

I love how Mr. Ramsay here as a character can demolish entire restaurants, but really can appreciate street food for its unique flavour.
He does not demolish restaurants. He try's to fix whats broken.

Love watching him cook
omg chef gordon is making my country's fried noodles!! so amazing! wonderful chef.. great job, love from indonesia
As an Indonesian, let me straight out a few things:
1. Most of us don't have high-burner stove in our house, so to achieve a slightly burnt & crisp texture we push the noodle against hot pan just like gordon did.
2. Brown sugar and soy sauce is substitute for kecap manis (sweet soysauce). Get kecap manis if you can, it's the best.
3. I don't know about that spice mix gordon used tastes like, but we usually use a mix of grounded garlic, candlenut, coriander, white pepper. Also sambal & shrimp paste for that extra flavor kick.
4. Flavored oil, most Indonesian are muslim, so we use oil rendered from chicken instead, and the meat used as toppings. Still, the point are same, rendered animal fat. So I can imagine oil from bacon would taste better.
5. Toppings. We Indonesian don't care about what you put in it so experiment all you want. Shrimp, meatballs, fish cake, squid, chicken, beef, lamb, organs, etc. The list just goes on and on.
6. MSG gordon, MSG. I bet uncle roger would point this out.
why do i have the feeling that Gordon just made this video for Uncle Roger
Not only is a Gordon Ramsay one of the best chefs in human history, this man understands the importance of connecting with his audience of all ages.

Tried it last night, was delicious 😋
....we usually do short cut, instead brown sugar + soy sauce, we go for kecap manis (sweet soy sauce), itu has more deep molasses sweet profile instead of just sugar sweet. And it gives that dark color and thick sauce viscosity. The smokiness actually come from the wok and that high burner stove....the umami from shrimp paste- tho' bacon work in a pinch.
Edit, we don't use togarashi 🤣 that way too bougie for street food, instead we use fresh chili and shallots, grind to paste.
Everything Ramsey cooks looks delicious.
This looks yummy!!! I am going to try to make that sauce. I love bacon but wonder how that would be in the dish. I bet ground pork would be tasty as well.
This would be delicious & would be enjoyable on a wintery day but there are some odd ingredients in this dish that aren't Indonesian at all. Bacon, udon noodles & togarashi (although a homemade kecap manis is a cool idea & I LOVE Japanese food). There's loads of pan Asian flavour going on... but I don't think it's very Indonesian.
Aku orang 🇮🇩🇬🇧. ✌🏽
True, saya setuju.
Nah it's allright, even in indonesia this is still approved as authentic mie goreng. For those who aren't moslems, while bacon isn't common, pork are still pretty easy to find. And we often use pork fat/lards for the flavor when cooking these kind of food. Mie goreng with pork(mie goreng B2/babi) isn't exactly rare here. And using japanese soy sauce is pretty similar with using kecap asin(salted soy sauce). For the noodles, indonesians are not picky, we just use any type of noodles we could find. And it's okay to not use kecap manis, there are also mie goreng without it here. As indonesian, i would definitely buy it if some non halal vendors sell their mie goreng like this here
This Gordon and roger relationship is so wholesome
Really cool Gordon taking the humor in stride and firing back. Good sense of humor, from when he was super serious.
Except I'm of Japanese descent and know togarashi and udon are Japanese.
Thank you so much Sir Gordon for this delicious healthy affordable recepi..I love it..😊👌😋❤️

They should show a side-by-side of Gordon cooking in 10 mins, versus how long the average person would take for the same recipe!
10 mins for him, 1 hour for me 💀
If 'the average person' is an Asian who makes this every few days, it would be the same. It's a normal dish, not something exotic.

Just to clarify for everyone watching this video... The cooking may be 10 MINUTES but the entire end to end process takes MORE than 10 minutes... These individual ingredients don't appear on bowls and plates ready for you... If you count in the prep time, it's at least 30 minutes.. so give yourself around 1 hour instead of 10 minutes
