As a 40-year firefighter, Ladder 49 should be #1. Not only is it the most realistic in terms of the firefighting, but it also the most accurate regarding the station life, family life and relationships and brotherhood in the fire house. As somebody who has contracted cancer through the fire service, the ending is especially hard hitting for me as that day is coming soon. Only the Brave is a close #2, but not having any experience in the wildland side of the service, I don't have a lot of comments on the relationship side of that side of the service. The fact that it was based on a true story where likely the crew made some pretty significant errors and apparently voliated some basic wildland guidelines makes it an even more tragic. As far as Backdraft it's simply entertainment with a lot of non-realistic BS, though as a fire investigator, there are some interesting aspects of that part of the movie. As a firefighting movie, Fireproof is average but as a Christian, I do very much enjoy the journey of faith.
Stay strong coleague! iam firefighter in Czech Republic and i hope you stay strong and didnt quit.
Look into the relationship between glucose and cancer. Cancer has 20-50x more insulin receptors. That means that when you eat carbs it makes glucose which spikes insulin and feeds the cancer. You stop the carbs, you limit the cancer and some have cured it. Do some research mate I'm positive it will help. Stay strong
do you happen to know the movie where there was i believe a corrupt firefighter setting fires with wrist watches in dryer ducts? i been tryna find it for years now. gotta be atleast a decade 10+ old now. please & thanks & thank you for your service
@@2HavicMusic Maybe Firehouse Dog? It's been a while since I've watched it but that sounds familiar.
@@RandomFacts93 hmmm maybe, the trailer didnt show anything regarding the watches & vent fires but i deff recognized the movie so maybe it is,imma have to give it a watch and see! thank you
Am I the only one who really enjoyed only the brave, the movie made me fucking cry
same but what about backdraft
Just watched it and I was screaming “please don’t kill them! Please!” And I had just watched my backyard go up in flames 4 hours earlier.
me to he make my cry every time
My wife and I both cried together, She won't watch it again, too sad she says!
Yeah, Only the Brave was a tear jerker.... Along with the closing scene of Ladder 49 at the memorial service
When I think of firefighter movies, first one to come to mind is always backdraft
Most ridiculous unbelievable firefighting movie ever
Back draft and ladder 49 are my favorites
Yep
Hell ye
Damn straight brother
Hell ye
Right
Ladder 49 for life. Wish Chicago Fire can be like that...
Same but i love both of them
Ya ladder 49 is my favorite backdraft really good but Chicago fire I just never find it on nbc any more only thing is med and pd
Chicago fire is the best
@@sentinel1172 Chicago fire and ladder 49 2 best firefighter tv shows
Whaaaat ? What don't u like at Chicago fire man ? It's a TV show not a movie..it has to be this way...and only the brave is as good and ladder 49 if not better...
They forgot the towering inferno
love that movie...have it on dvd
35 year Detroit Fire Dept veteran, by far Ladder 49
I agree
I live in Michigan, I want to take training as soon as I get out of high school. How is firefighting in Michigan?
5. Fireproof
4.The Towering Inferno
3.Ladder 49
2.Only the Brave
1.Backdraft (film)
True
I would put ladder 49 as 2 tho and only the brave as the worst in my opinion
Well it a true story. So kind of wanted on here. Now can't wait to do cops or a top 10 firefighter movie
I’m surprise that the towering inferno wasn’t in here towering inferno is one of the best firefighters movies
I say only the brave stays on the 1. They deserve it.
Wait you put fireproof before Ladder 49? Also World Trade Center is about police
World Trade Center they end up being firefighters
David Stahlman but they are still police
@@MrCloudz01 they are actually both. Port Authority PD does fire rescue and law enforcement. You can look up footage of them responding to incidents within their jurisdiction.
In certain dangerous situations they wear fire kit. In New York, the actual firefighters wear black clothing and the classic 8 comb helmets, whereas the Police shown here, and I believe the EMS, wear beige clothing and "modern" fire helmets aka salad bowl or turtle.
I saw both & as a fighter, 49 sucked
Ladder 49 is number 1 in my opinion. Love that movie!
Currently a firefighter I like ladder 49 then fire proof
Not a movie, but the British TV serie London's Burning is the most accurate one. Station life, fire and accidents, everything that happens in a firemans job.
Episodes are on UA-cam
not any more sadly - I think UA-cam got rid of them.
I like the original film, but I think that it was based on the Brixton Riots.
I know it’s been a long time but the movie the should be given a look see to this list was the 1974 disaster movie and big influence on me becoming a 27 year retired fire engineer/paramedic was “The Towering Inferno”! Steve McQueen as the fire battalion chief, Paul Newman as the architect. Very well done and epic movie that dedicated it to all the firefighters of the world at that time! This list though does have merit and is also very good!👍🏽🚒💨
The towering inferno ???? Big classic
BACKDRAFT IS THE GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME
Ladder 49 and backdraft
Vortex OCTA that is ok too
Backdraft and ladder 49 are my favorite movies
Yeah mate eh?
Backdraft 2 was horrible
My pick would be Towering Inferno, Only The Brave, Ladder 49 and Backdraft. WTC is a movie about cops not firefighters and Fireproof is basically a chick flick with a firefighter husband.
It's a lot more than a chick flick with a firefighter husband it's a movie about faith and building a relationship built on faith and love
@@patrickharvey158 sorry sometimes the shit firemen see, its better to not have faith..... i spoke to a firemen once and he said if i had god in my life, id blame him for the brother and sisters lost, the kids burnt up... sometimes its better to not have someone to blame.
@@Lord_IckisDickus bubba to each their own but I get through what I see on the job BECAUSE of my faith in Jesus Christ
ARE YOU KIDDING ME, why is fireproof even on there backdraft and ladder 49 are 1 and 2 NOT 4 and 2 HOW IS FIREPROOF 3
I concur. Only the brave is #1 for me but they should be 2 and 3 and fireproof should be no where near this list.
This list was clearly not made by a real firefighter lol
As much as I respect the Hotshots, Backdraft to me was the best of this list.
Only the brave was such an amazing depiction of their story, but i have to agree here
Backdraft is a good movie but highly innacurate when it comes to fire behavior
Just curious how you fail to mention one the best firefighter movies of all times "Towering Inferno"
ladder 49 my all time great
10/10
Only the brave was a sad thing RiP guys
Was surprised not to see the towering inferno on the list
Backdraft and only the brave my most favorite fire fighting movies
Only the Brave is absolutely number one, then Backdraft. I still like Always with Richard Dreyfuss and Holly Hunter much better than other firefighter family-type movies.
Always is a slept on firefighter movie!!
I agree.
Backdraft is the all time greatest.
Why can't Backdraft be seen anymore? I've never watched it and would like to, but it's said that they quit allowing it to be viewed..... I'm just curious what's the reason for this 🤔
I miss "The Towering Inferno" in this list...not a firefighter movie at all, BUT I think the firefighters are portraited very well in this movie!
1. Only The Brave
2. Ladder 49
3. Fireproof
4. World Trade Center
5. Backdraft
The reason backdraft is low for me is because of the super cheesy and unrealistic firefighting tactics. Although it still is an enjoyable movie
Backdraft is my all time favorite firefighter movie with Ladder 49 being a close second
Ladder 49 at 4 is crazyyyy. The most realist cinematic version of fire fighting you’ll ever see. Ask any firefighter and they would agree
Agree? Really? Where's the smoke and the ZERO visibility???????????
@@piperjake57 the Christmas rescue in the apartment towards the end of the movie simulates a fire with 0 visibility. You have to remember it is a movie. Compared to other movies ladder 49 Is the most realistic
I think the realistic of what had to happen is the point
Backdraft, Ladder 49, and Fireproof are my favorites. I'm trying to find a way to write a story that encompasses the faith-based love story of Fireproof with the realism of Ladder 49 and some of the firefighting moments of Backdraft.
I'm British, and when I watched Backdraft I noticed how several times firefighters' helmets fell off. In Britain, firefighters always do up their chinstrap when firefighting. Back when this film came out, UK firefighters either had the old fashioned cork helmets, or new half shell synthetic helmets, usually fitted with a visor. Many had the home grown Cromwell F500, but a lot had the Cairns Metro 660s and a few Bullard FXEs. Also by then, all British firefighters had fire resistant leggings (bunker pants) and I assume a lot of US fire departments still didn't.
Depends on what departments. A lot of the metropolitan staff departments had more modern equipment by then.
Also, most firefighters and departments use different style helmets and such compared to other countries because most respect the tradition of the service, even if that means giving up lots of practicality.
Bunker pants on at every department in the USA now. I know Indianapolis got them late 80s early 90s and all helmets have straps on them
Chicago wore hip boots and long coats until around 2006-2010 then they switched fully to bunker gear they were the last department in the country to do so
And as for the chinstraps a lot of the old timers refused to use them and to this day it's some debate personally if I am going interior I will do my chinstrap up when putting my face piece on on auto accidents or other types of calls I'll leave it off and just tighten the head band down and go-to work
Only the brave is definitely not better than backdraft
J H they all died in the line of duty so idk it could just be a tribute
Only the brave is sadder
Only the brave was still one hell of a good movie
Hard to decide, only the brave is definitely a much different type of view from backdraft not only because one is wild land and one isn’t, mainly because backdraft is more of a drama IMO and only the brave isn’t. But that’s my opinion on the 2 movies
totally is. It's a true story!
There is one you definitely missed, which I recently just saw from back in the 90's, was Firestorm, the story of the Oakland CA, wildfire, starting Lavar Burton, and Michael Gross (Family Ties fame).
14 year firefighter and Backdraft will always be #1 and closely 2nd Ladder 49
Ladder 49 is number 1 at all times then on second only the brave
I was hoping the Towering Inferno would be on the list. I'm glad Backdraft was
Ladder 49 I cried when Jack died
Me 2
Backdraft only the brave and ladder 49 best fire fighter movies 🇺🇸🙏
All of them look really good. World Trade Centre is a bit emotional. I enjoyed Ladder 49
Backdraft was based on the Chicago FD. That was really good.
This list is not complete without Towering Inferno!!
Ladder 49 and Backdraft are great.
Backdraft the best
Ive seen backdraft over 100 times since childhood and its been my favorite movie for as long as i can remember, I loved only the brave but to call it a firefighter movie would be unrealistic. Those guys fight forest fires and have completely different working conditions than the normal fireman. The only 2 movies that are the closet thing to real firefighting on this list is ladder 49 and backdraft.
My station does woods fires on a regular basis...almost twice the brush calls than any other station in our county and unless there's a singular incident somewhere I believe that the forestry guys lose more firefighters than the structural in most years. Those guys are awesome and their job is as dangerous. To us any station that doesn't know how to fight woods fires is next to useless.
Agreed Frank
As an all volunteer dept we get them all we have a lot more woods fire than structural
Backdraft and lader 49 are my favorites.
I love fire proof i used to watch it when I was little
Ladder 49 should be 2
Only the brave end scene in gym hits me damn hard. I'm more into fire fighters stories 🙏
You for got The Towering Inferno! World Trade Center was about policemen.
Backdraft and Ladder 49 are 1 and 2 for sure
I usually pass by Baltimore City 51 Engine
Thank you for making this list. I enjoy movies that are as true and accurate to life as possible unless it's a zombie movie then it doesn't matter.
The reason I think WTC should be #1 it shows the comradrie between the families and with the first responders that went in the towers to not only sacrifice their lives, but also to save thousands on that day. But what they had not known was whether they would have made it out alive or not, unfortunately most didn't make it out which makes this movie especially emotional for me.
Although these movies are Hollywood- made, the movie Fireproof is the one that showed me, a civilian, what it's like to be fire fighter. My "hemmet" is offered to all who brave fire and danger. 👨🚒 As it says in Fireproof, "NEVER leave your partner behind, especially in a fire".
I've seen Backdraft and Ladder 49. Only The Brave looks great!
No mention of the towering inferno.world trade center looked more like a cop.movie than a fire fighter movie.
Fireproof ❤️
.Ladder 49 & Only the Brave is the best ever, American firefighter movie.
no no no no c'mon, Backdtaft is absolutely the best firemen's movie. ever! ...and that trailer still gives me goosebumps!
fighting 17!
Only the brave made me cry at the end
Towering Inferno from the 70's. Just fireifighters fighting a huge high-rise fire! Wish that movie would get a re-make!
That would be interesting
Fireproof, by definition is not a firefighter movie. It's about a firefighter finding love through the help of Christ. World Trade Center is NOT a firefighter movie.
5. Towering Inferno 4. Fireproof 3. Only the Brave 2. Ladder 49 1. Backdraft
Hey......What about "Always"? Richard Dreyfus, John Goodman, Holly Hunter, Audrey Hepburn.
I agree, Fire Proof and World trade Center should be lower on the list with Man Alive, The Bronx is Burning and 9/11 documentary followed by The Towering Inferno Then just for entertainment, Always, along with Emergency! to round it all off. So to rank them, my list would go like this:
1) The Bronx is Burning
2) 9/11 Documentary
3) Backdraft
4) Ladder 49
5) The Towering Inferno
6) Fireproof
7) Only the Brave
8) Hell Fighters
9) Emergency!
10) Always
world trade center and ladder 49 are my top movies god bless them heros
My favorite firefighter movie is Ladder 49 because of its family focus, followed by Fireproof because of its good Christian backstory, then Only the Brave because of the crazy risks that go along with that job, whether the movie is real or not; then World Trade Center, though i couldn't watch the whole movie because, even though i don't live in NYC, and never have, and i was only 7 at the time and thus i didn't even know what happened when it happened, it is still terrible-plus i feel like the movie should have been a little bit better quality from what i did watch of it; then Backdraft because it's an older movie, has some average quality to it, but isn't that great from what the trailer shows.
World Trade Center isn’t really a firefighter movie but a first responder movie
One suggestion is Towering Inferno. Love that movie.
Jow did Chuck and Larry not make the cut. It is truly the most realistic fire department movie ever
I don't think the fire out of "The Towering Inferno" will be impressed that you missed that film out
I’m a 35 year firefighter and my top 5 would be:
5. World Trade Center
4. Backdraft
3. The Towering Inferno
2. Only the Brave
1. Ladder 49
Where is the towering inferno on this list????? That's #1
I think my favorite ones are the towering inferno, fire house dog, ladder 49.
Only The Brave and Backdraft is the top 2 best firefighting movies.
world trade center isn't only about firefighters tho, it's about every single emergency service that responded there
Ok, so just want to put a few things out there. (1) Backdraft should have been Number 1, but will also give you my reason a little later in this to tell you why another movie should have been too. Aside from Towering Inferno, (which to my surprise I didn't see make the list, if not, should have made some sort of honorable mention category) Backdraft was pretty much the movie that broke the mold to make these other movies to follow later. I grew up with the movie. It was the only one I ever knew of (plus the only one around at the time). (2) Fireproof, I swear, should have made up a signed agreement to air it ONLY on Hallmark. Honestly, talk about a movie with the same cheesy cliche' "I'm stuck in a marriage with my job and don't know how to juggle them both and must decide one over the other and and and ...................." Seriously, Hallmark. (3) I don't blame anyone for thinking that Only The Brave deserved the number 1 spot (even though I said Backdraft should have been). I mean, you are talking firefighting, in the wild, with almost NO water supply in your hands, and the only water is from above. I would like to believe this job is WAY riskier than a regular firefighter BUT, I'm not saying it's the most dangerous. Each ground comes with its own consequences and battlefields.
WTC tears in heaven, glad I waited 10 years after to watch
Where is “Roxanne”?????
World Trade Center was not a firefighting movie, it was about police officess.
World trade center isn't a firefighting movie...Fireproof, ladder 49, Backdraft, Smoke Jumper, Only the Brave, Raging Inferno, Super Fire, FireStorm, FireStorm: last stand at Yellowstone, Frequency, towering Inferno
I didn’t even know there was so many movies about firefighters
Ladder 49 is 1 easy
Ladder49 should been number 1 more than anything
If you liked any of these check out BURN (2012). Produced by Denis Leary.
Only the Brave is the easy #1, but a good honorable mention would be Quarantine. LA fire portrayed pretty decent in that movie...at least the first 30 mins
World trade center while a phenomenal movie wasn't a firefighting movie
I must correct myself. London's Burning started with a Movie length episode. ua-cam.com/video/obnQK2zEWOc/v-deo.html
Serie ran for many years, in my opinion the best ever made about the Fire Service. The only critic a can give is that the fires always were clear and with out heavy black smoke like in real fires.
Can't believe that ladder 49 wasnt number 1 even thought that movie only the brave us very good. But ladder 49 should be no 1 and backdraft.no.2. thats just me. 🙌🏻💚🇮🇪
Does anyone remember the firehouse movie with the actor that played Dr Ben Casey? I can't remember his name or the name of the movie.
My name rozak from indonesian
I am prond of the firefighter in amerika.
And also work in the indonesia fire department in the districk of serang
May I have a washap number handpone so that I can learn extinguishing from yu...
bad order 1.only the brave its based on true events 2.ladder 49 it is the most accurate to real firefighting 3.world trade center its part of our history but its about police officers 4.backdraft unrealistic 5.fireproof its a damn love story
BACKDRAFT #1 ALL TIME
Firestorm 72 hours in oakland should have made the list before fireproof
I think that the 1986 film London's Burning should be on the list. There was a long running television series, which started a few years after the film.
The film shows what life was like in the area around the fire station, and ended with a riot, and having the firemen going into the area of the riots, without any help fr😅Police.
I do not know if it is realistic, but it is not as dramatic as Backdraft, or Ladder 49. I have not seen any of the others in this list.
World Trade Center shouldn’t have been excluded
They all good but my fav was Ladder 49
Why can't Backdraft be seen anymore? I've never watched it and would like to, but it's said that they quit allowing it to be viewed..... I'm just curious what's the reason for this 🤔
Ladder 49 and only the brave are my favorites
Sorry I agree with the person who commented the towering inferno is the best Steve McQueen the greatest
