I watched this movie in theaters with my then boyfriend, now husband. At the time of the movie he was working for Cal Fire. This movie hits different when you have a loved one working in wildland. This movie touches on everything, not only what the firefighters go through, but their families as well. The many arguments about choosing work over family, not knowing how long they will be gone during summer season, and the worst... wondering if they will ever make it back home. It is a well made movie. Rest In Peace Hotshots

I've seen the film a couple times now and must say it gets me every single time. I'm a firefighter both paid and volunteer of 14 years with experience in wildland structural and aircraft, it hurts to lose brothers like this, I know I lost 3 brother firefighters in my career now and it never gets easier. My wife she cried over this film too as she knows all too well that I may walk out that door and never come back.

aubrey Aubrey they were trying to get to their escape route to engage the fire.. it said it in the movie. And watching interviews after the incident seems to point out that this group of men hated to stand by and watch. They always wanted to do something. So sitting in the black was probably bothering them.

Everytime i see that movie its seriously like living that day over and over again. Ive never seen my town so quite. The only one i knew personally was Grant but i knew how close they all were. Brandon just had another baby and got married recently but still has so much trouble mentally. He is such a good and strong man. Everyone that i know are still grieving. I found out about this movie when i ran into the cast and filming crew at the bars downtown on whiskey row. It was such a mixed emotion of whether or not to see it because I didn't know if i could handle it. Im glad i saw it, but i was right, i couldn't handle it. The 19 will always be our towns heros. While we were all waiting for the evacuation alerts, they were giving their lives for us. Its almost like we all feel quilt. Our houses and possessions weren't worth it. However, That was there calling and they loved what they did. Im just so heartbroken.

I watched this film 4 times in a row...why? Because of the character development. I never completely understood what Hot Shots did until this film nor realized just how dangerous it is. I felt like I got to know this band of brothers a little, and wish so much I could actually know them. It's an EXCELLENT film and should have won Best Picture. Anyway...to the mother who didn't want the film made about her son...maybe in time, you'll be able to watch it, maybe never. Just know that most of the country would not know anything about what your son did, nor the others had it not been for this film. Those nineteen guys were so special...all firefighters are and I am glad I know particularly about the Granite Mt Hot Shots! kl xoxooxoxxooxxo

I'm getting more familiar with the story now with an audiobook I started listening to two days ago, and watching thr videos in UA-cam. Such a poignant story. It doesn't really matter if it was awarded any prizes. It won and will win the hearts of everyone who watched and will watch it. Granite Mountain Hotshots are worldly renowned now, and their memory will endure forever.

Some of the lines that stuck out the most to me in the entire film were the conversations between Eric and Amanda. Just thinking about how many times my grilfriend and I have said goodbye to each other, how many times I just walk out of our home and from a hug as if things were normal. I remember the line that really makes me cry every time was that convo Eric had with Amanda before they deploy to Yarnell: "Oh skunker down in Yarnell, no big deal." We had a fire last fall which I remember telling my girlfriend: "Hey we got some small IA fire, gonna go kick its butt and be back before dark, love you.", the Yarnell Hill Fire, and before that the South Canyon Fire, serve as reminders for all of us that we need to always abide by our 10s and 18s.

I just watched the movie, I knew it was a true story but I didn't really know the story (I'm from Montreal,Canada) So we hear what's happening around the world but it's always just the overview and it's never the entire story...or it always sounds "far"... So the movie itself is super sad, but then you see real pictures, and real people, and it takes a whole other turn...now it's real...this really happened, and real people died...And then I started surfing the web to know more about this team and it's crazy how something happening far from where you are can affect you so much...These were true superheroes!!!

I watched this movie two night ago. Hope I can get some sleep tonight. The bear, the flaming bear. I live in a rural part of southern Colorado, and our forests are tinder, waiting for the right conditions. We've put up crews on our little fairground's field. How these hotshots do what they do, will forever amaze me. Getting people to be careful while camping and hanging out in our forests can never be impressed enough. There aren't enough heroes to save the wildlife's habitat and the homes of people, too. These young kids are stretched thin trying to save what they can. They used to hold yearly meetings here about the dangers of wildfire and how to mitigate your property against fire, but only the choir showed up... the people who SHOULD attended, don't.

I wish the film had been titled Granite Mountain Hotshots rather than "Only the Brave" for ease of finding and acquiring. The Finest cast and Finest Movie I have ever Seen over and Over again which is proof of the greatness of the content and portrayal of the movie heroes story.

Two of the GM Hotshots were Marine Corps Combat Vets. All of them had sense and purpose to "Serve". They were trained to protect and to advance to the 'fire' not think about their own personal safety! It's about putting 'others' above self!'

The thing I found about the film is while some of the crew were hard on him at the start, I don't think Marsh was? Marsh and Steed were hard, but fair. The "choke you out" scene wasn't mentioned in his autobiography

This Event Tore my Heart out when I heard of their Sacrifice. Watching the movie "ONLY THE BRAVE" over and over again still tears my heart out each time and I cry for their loss and sacrifice. I am A Christian and I hope and Pray they will be judged easily by GOD. As a Christian I know ONLY JESUS can save your soul but the BIBLE/GOD's Word does say laying down your life for others may be judged differently.

This comment was toward the interviewer. The man who survived the fire went through something not the interviewer, so who’s judging whom. I can make a comment about the interviewer, it’s a free country.
