Rick has played with some great touring musicians but it’s been a really long time that these old classics of his have really rocked with a solid 4 on the floor. RIP Taylor. U killed it bro.
I've seen Rick Springfield on his 60 th and 70 th birthday both at the fruit yard venue in Modesto ca. With my two daughters..he just keeps getting better!
Look at how much Dave is enjoying playing that with Rick. Dave is such a cool fun guy that never ever seems to let any of it go to his head. Those guys are just oozing fun. Great job not taking any of it too seriously. Awesome.
Thats the thing about Dave and The Foos. There is nobody else in rock who knows how to honour and respect the great artists and songs that came before them. Ive lost count from Jimmy Page to Rick Astley, to Alice Cooper. Im in my 60s and im thrilled to go see Dave and The Foos whenever i can. They are as great as any band ever in my books.
I still have working class dog on tape that was jogging on the Ventura Pier One Night in the early 90s when Rick Springfield was filming his show pretty cool guy ,rick told me to jog through the scene as they were filming was pretty cool, then I watch this show and there I was running through wow,lol
I just went to a vintage record store yesterday with my boys and found Rick's first solo album and was freaking out in the store! The owner was laughing and said we just got it in! Out of over thousands of tapes, cds, albums and 45's, I hit the jackpot! And to mention I'm I huge Foo fan so I'm so happy right now! ❤️😁
Thanks for your love and support. It has been a hard time for me going through this but your love and support keeps me going and standing strong in this difficult times . I do read your heartwarming comments and I truly appreciate all you've done for me throughout the years…..
I LOVED Rick when I was younger... I wore his face on my shirt in grade 8 RELIGIOUSLY! And its awesome to see him working with someone as brilliant as Mr. Dave. Love Love Love it!!!
He is! I’ve been saying it for years 😁 He sounds exactly the same as when I’d come home late at night on the weekend and turn on the t.v. to one of those late night rock shows and I’d think wow, he’s really cute, and he can play! 😅 But i’m a girl so no one listened. 😁🎸🎶🎵🎤 Dave and The Foo’s are pretty good too. I’m also very sorry for Taylor’s family and his friends. I have to believe he is at peace…♥️🕯
So glad I stumbled across this video. I still have the vinyl record of this I bought in 1981 when I was 12. At fucking KMart, and I had to take a bus to get there. Like a day spent. Shit's changed.
I went to see Springfield 2 days ago, that was my 2nd concert of Rick and it was great and the memories of the 80's came back right away! I'm living at FL but I was living & partying in Lima back in those years, the guy is great & I enjoyed the concert & I even bought the Rick's guitar for my son! Romantics & Loverboy were ok
I love Dave Grohl to bits. In a world of no more radio, of shitty, over-produced, no-melody EDM, etc., THIS is rock and roll, and Dave recognizes that.
Thanks for your love and support. It has been a hard time for me going through this but your love and support keeps me going and standing strong in this difficult times . I do read your heartwarming comments and I truly appreciate all you've done for me throughout the years.🎶
That's crazy, Rick Springfield was my first concert experience, 1982, I believe, Universal Amphitheater at Universal Studios! His full concert is on Amazon Prime Video for those interested!

left Australia when he was 22 to try for a career in the States - and got one. He's looking pretty good and energetic up there for a 63 year old. But the really big deal is that they're enjoying themselves and each other's company.......
What Dave and the Fighters do is so at once incredibly simple, incredibly valuable, and incredibly unique. First, they pick artists they want to play with and songs that they enjoy. The audience is secondary but they know if they are compelled, a lot of their audience probably is too. Then comes their prototype method of totally humanizing the "Guest-Talent" while absolutely worshiping and showcasing that Talent at the same time. Each member of the band is fully immersed in the musical collaboration with dedicated musicianship. You can feel the sense of pride each wants to bring to the performance. Completely effective and unforgettable. Finally, the infusion of life, re-branding, and even introduction to a big, brand-new audience, though brief, is invaluable to an aging artist whose career is waning. This is a thoughtful, classy act of kindness and generosity that certainly shows what's in the Foo Fighters hearts and minds.
So many things to love about this ciip......three chords and we all know the song, Rick's playful treatment of a song he's already sung about a zillion times and the audience singing along with full gusto (my favourite part).

Back in like 1999 when FF was a newer band, it would've seemed like a massive difference between Dave Grohl and Rick who was popular in the early to mid 80s. It's weird how now there's like not much difference between 80s and 90s, they're both classic rock now lol. And since Rick looks really good and young for his age, it narrows the gap even more.
Rock ain't dead while Dave Grohl's alive. The whole Sound City concept is the about the coolest idea to come down the pike in years. McCartney, Rick Neilsen, Stevie Nicks, Rick Springfield, Queens of the Stone Age....I mean, come on...this is just a whole messa fun, ain't it?

Las year I went to see Pat Benatar, and Rick Springfield just happened to be the opening act. Well, for some bizarre reason that men are not able to fathom, the ladies still go wild for this guy. Even to this day it is still a mystery. [P.S. There is no guy worth his salt that would ever admit to having seen Rick Springfield in concert, so you did not get this from me. Oh no!!! What have I done? /me hides -.-] (lolololol :-)
Lol ..perhaps its because he is an Aussie ;) lol ya think ?..oh and now I'm going to broadcast that David Calderon went to watch Rick Springfield ......( I won't mention the Pat Benatar bit ) ..I bet it was a great concert though :)

That's it, from now on every cover I sing is gonna be in a lower key, just like nearly all of the original artists do now. If they don't sing it in the original key, why should I? And besides me, who the heck hasn't Grohl shared the stage with?
Jessie's Girl is one of the great pop/rock songs ever to hit the top 40.
Rick has played with some great touring musicians but it’s been a really long time that these old classics of his have really rocked with a solid 4 on the floor. RIP Taylor. U killed it bro.

Dave is always really good at sitting back and letting his guests have the spot light.
Look at how much Dave is enjoying playing that with Rick. Dave is such a cool fun guy that never ever seems to let any of it go to his head. Those guys are just oozing fun. Great job not taking any of it too seriously. Awesome.

I cannot believe that Rick is 63 he looks amazing.
I love how the Foo Fighters play a lot if covers with other artists. Just makes them even better!

I'm amazed that my favorite Rick Springfield and the Foo Fighters performed together 10 years ago!🎸
I am so happy i got to see this video!🤩
These guys really do their homework to make it sound amazing.

Was that when the theater was still open-air?
@@dalethelander3781 No it was closed up by then.
80s reignited. Booyah
LOL "Three f**king chords, and they know what the song is! Congratulations, Rick Sprignfield!"
Dave Grohl is hilarious.
"I can name that tune in one note."
I love how Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters don't poo poo on pop rock. They know a great song is a great song. That's so fucking cool.
I never appreciated this song when it came out. Took until I was 53 to really hear something in it.
I love everything about this
G'damn....Rick Springfield is still pretty bad ass after all these years.
That was really cool of David to bring on Rick Springfield, that song's a classic. I bet they all enjoy to play it.
Old school rock no auto tune bullshit.
Ahhhh don't wake me up!!! I'm having the best dreams!!!!@
Is this what rock n roll heaven is like!!!🥰
Dave Grohl is about the coolest dude on the planet
+MsSez He seems a top bloke.
+MsSez He's definitely got Southern coolness.
Actually Keith Richards is the coolest dude on the planet ,without any effort
@@juliebroun1342 Not even. Keef is aloof, not really cool.
think Rick Springfield was here, just a little after his actions at the very end with throwing guitar, well timed, very cool

WOW!!! Can't believe i just found that on youtube... Mind's blown!!!! Amazing!!!!
Rick Springfield was born Richard Lewis Springthorpe on 23 August 1949 in Guildford a western suburb of Sydney.
Wish that I was…two of my favorite musicians.
I always enjoy watching Animal rock out on the drums. FF and Rick; you guys are awesome!
I was around 9 or 10 years old and I had a major crush on Rick Springfield in the early 80s. he is still very good looking even now.

Saw him a couple of years ago. High energy, great sound. He was 61 then.
It really is a great song.
If they ever have a Secretary of Music, Dave Grohl should have the job for life. He loves it all.
This is sooo spot on
He is still so cute. Love Rick S.
maravilloso !!!!!😍😍😍
They're having too much fucking fun up there--they obviously like each other
They have known each other for quite a while. Roots back to Sound City. Grohl now owns the board Jesse's Girl was mixed on.
Such a good performance
Taylor singing Jessie's girl! Perfect!
Love this. RIP Taylor. 🙏😢
