GM never showed the Camaro love. There were many Famous Mustangs and Mopars. Shelby's, Bullitt, General Lee, the Mopars in the FF Movies, etc. The Camaro only had Bumblebee, (thanks to Michael Bay). They never really promoted the car. Because they didn't want to step on the Corvette toes. It was a great car it will be missed...

To be fair, the general Lee isn't a exactly a good thing to be associated with in today's cultural climate, and ff movies aren't really viewed in a positive light anymore by most people.

I am 73 years young and I lived and took part in the muscle car era. Electric cars are souless, sterile machines that remove the driver from the thrill of controlling handfuls of power making uproarious, incredible sounds. I cannot imagine the drivers of today's Mustangs, Challengers and Camaros surrendering them for a battery-powered anything.....you just sit in it and steer. BIG WHOOP! And to put speakers in an EV to make it sound like an ICE, to me, is an addmission of failure. If this is the direction mankind is taking then, Lord, bring me home.

As a 6th Gen Camaro owner I have never enjoyed a car as much as the one I have now the 6.2L is excellent the handling is awesome and it begs for the curves. I am going to keep this car for an extremely long time. While they did say that this isn't the end for the Camaro I do not think it will follow the same Big V8 formula. So for the 6th Gen I say Good Job Chevy on the Six gen. EDIT: I am going to have to go with Roman on this you can't really get a Crossover to take the curves as well a coupe can. My Camaro takes curves faster than I have ever been able to do in most crossovers. Its about the whole package. The Camaro gave me something that I love and enjoy it is like I have a complete package a curve loving, straight line performing and a Roaring V8 adrenaline pumping car.

I think the 6th gen suffered with marketing, inconsistent major refreshes, a lot of technology that drove price up, and biggest thing less livable. The 5th gen as I see it almost done right, that's why it passed the Mustang in sales. It had a eyecatching retro styling as well as being modern with things like rear independent suspension. It represented what the Muscle car needs to be. Similarly to which the Mustang and Challenger pertain. The 6th gen doesnt have the emotion you feel when you walk up look at it as you would do with the others. The biggest flaw, it was focused to have pure sports car handling which ultimately was better than the Mustang and Challenger but came at a cost, making it smaller and less livable especially with poor outward visibility. It was fine if it was the only sports car from Chevy but it is overshadowed by the Corvette which people will go to for the best handling. It find it somewhat weird that the Challenger is the oldest of the three(older than even the 5th gen Camaro) but has risen up to be the top two because of marketing and its mission statement. At the end the 6th gen was one hell of a car, but not the car that people needed. Which I wish GM properly acknowledged, and give us a new gen that goes back to its roots.

My daily driver (and only car) is a 2018 2SS that I have 105k miles on. My previous car, and the first car I ever bought after I started my career, was a 2012 RS Camaro that got me into the muscle car culture. That 2012 RS turned me into a car enthusiast that enjoys going to Barret-Jackson (I live in Phoenix anyway) as opposed to the car apathetic person I was who grew up with my dad's old explorer and the family's Grand Caravan who originally went car shopping that day to look for a nicely appointed Ford Escape. The Camaros have been great cars for the last two generations, and I'll really miss them. Not only because it's a shame to see that market segment reaching a sunset, but also on a personal level because it represents more than a decade now of that fun culture I had no idea I wanted to be a part of that introduced me to great friends and great memories brought about by such a captivating product. Farethewell Camaro, I shall keep mine as long as I can!
I think the one thing where they really missed the boat was the restyling in 2019. I was so happy the stars aligned for me to get a 2018, becuase the 2019 styling (and the subsequent tweaks) just didn't make it appealing as a 'muscle' car. The 2016-2018 looks like something that competes with the Mustang and the Challenger - it looks like part of the trio. the 2019+ looks like a body kit on a malibu. I definitely get they were going for a more futuristic styling to appeal to a 'younger crowd', but I think it ended up just being weird styling that didn't appeal to anyone.
Additionally, while I love the sound of my burbling V8, I do look forward to an electrified muscle car in the next few years. I actually got a survey several years ago from Chevrolet asking me, as a current 2ss owner, what I'd want to upgrade to in a future Camaro, and I remember them listing a very intriguing 650HP Hybrid powertrain or something along those lines - that is what interests me. A muscle car, to me, isn't about the particular power plant, it's about the 'attitude' as was said around the 11:00 mark, but not in the way that was meant. If the engineers behind Camaros, Challengers and Mustangs can keep that attitude alive with electrified vehicles that leap frog performance characteristics of the current generation the same way that current platforms leapfrogged the original cars of the 70's, I welcome that. The attitude is about absolute, raw performance and the thrill of having a performant car, not of having a car that has this or that particular architecture. If I can get a beefy looking coupe with 750 HP and 750 lb/ft or Torque from an Electric engine that will allow me to have 0-60 time around 2.5 seconds, what of that is NOT a muscle car? It might have an electric hum instead of a V8 burble, but at the end of the day it is still the expression of a muscle car in the purest sense. And if that transition can allow others to join in the fun and the culture like my 2012 v6 that out performed the 70's era cars did for me, then I sincerely welcome it. Especially if the alternative is that segment rolling off into the sunset leaving us nothing but the memories and the faint odor of burning rubber. When I finally have to trade in my 450HP 2018 2SS with 300k miles and it's barely rolling into the lot because of the years of smiles, I hope to replace it with a 7th generation Electric 2SS with 750 HP.
So long as it isn't a crossover. :P I Do agree a muscle car needs to be a coupe.

The biggest problem with the Camaro was all the downsides when you compare it to the Mustang. It had some of the worst visibility of any car ever. The Mustang was cheaper. It's slower than the competition by a lot. The seats were terrible to ride in for more than a 30 minute drive. The suspension made it ride like it was required to wear a kidney belt. It was basically the same since 2010 with just some facelifts. The only change was the ZL1 really. Chevy abandoned it years ago. I haven't seen a Camaro commercial in probably a decade. Lots of friction, usually because there's a tradition of whoever developed the engine will get upstaged by whoever developed the chassis.

Both were daily drivers and both were bought with the F-41 suspension and had manual transmissions. The 1985 went for almost 180,000 miles, the 2002 went 147,000 before I traded it for 2012 C6 Grand Sport Corvette. As someone who used to mostly seek out only Japanese or German performance cars, I saw the Camaro as a great option with this latest SS 1LE. I love this car. It has plenty of the sound, speed and character of a muscle car, but track performance is more in line with what I’m used to. Strong brakes, stiff chassis, firm suspension but excellent ride quality and daily drivability. I don’t care about the horsepower wars. There are a few occasions where I wouldn’t mind seeing how much quicker the 650 hp ZL1 engine would be, but 450 hp is already plenty. It’s gotten ridiculous in my opinion. That said, it is neat to see factory cars that have basically all your aftermarket work done already.

Poor functional design. I can see a new gen of a high output V6 mild (integrated drivetrain) hybrid, thus overall taking up about the same longitudinal (powertrain) space as now, better visibilty/sight-lines, lower tail end. Lighter, generally downsized a bit but somewhat re-proportioned. Smaller tire/wheel assembly but still proportionate to the whole package. Back to the original formula. Less puffed/pumped up. 2+2 handler but still very decent straight line. Looking at spec for spec 023 v 69, the current one amazingly isn't that much bigger than the original, a little taller, a little wider, about the same length - but it is more pumped up. Some might say that modern technology and safety features make up the difference, so what are you going to do? I still say they're going to put it on a diet and visibility program.

Roman, I'm sure you're right, there will be people who will want to hold on to their petrol engines in the future, but it's going to be more and more complicated. At some point into the future, the combustion engines will be probably restricted access to most populated areas due to the pollution, and this is already happening in Europe.
If you don't believe this will happen, I'd like to remind you that they didn't allow smoking in public places at some point, even though smoking was very popular. As soon as this happened, the popularity started to fail, this coupled with the increased price on tobacco products.
I'm sure that e-fuel will be more expensive than real gasoline while being just as polluting. So I think there won't be a lot of supporters who will want to hold on to this "pleasure" when the price per gallon will be $15-20 and you won't be allowed to drive in the city with the ICE car.
Is GM wasting their money? They still got about 15 years to sell this stuff, I think. They might be able to capitalize on this technology (v8 ICE) while it's giving its last breath. God know there are a lot of people living outside cities, but that's only about 5 to 10 percent of the population, so 15 to 30 million people. Only, they don't all have the money to entertain this kind of expensive pleasure as a V8 engine in 2040.

If you take every last thing that made it a 2+2 coupe and give it the interior space of a 2 seater… people will just opt for the vette
