Had a lot of late nights with the homies fixing broken cars but starting at 2am is another level. The tuner and his homies are the mvp. Great ending waiting for EP 2!
I bought a 88 gmc Sierra 1500 for $750. in Oregon this last December. I spent $18 on a coolant temp sensor. Hooked up the tps sensor that was installed incorrectly by the previous owner. Ran perfect after that. Drove it for a week, then decided to drive it cross country from Oregon to north Carolina, with $600 in my pocket. Got 15-16 mpg all the way across. Slept in the camper shell that came with the truck. Ate terrible truck stop food. Arrived for Christmas with my family in 5 days with about $80 left. Done a ton of those type of trips over the years. Get out n have fun folks.
Those guys went out of their way to fix Ben's clapped out Eclipse at 2AM, getting a head on and engine started in 5 hours just so they can continue on their self-inflicted-pain of a youtube roadtrip special. I'm actually speechless. I don't know how I would even thank them in that scenario (other than with a large amount of cash).
These videos are insane. Not just the unrelenting dedication (when did you sleep during the DSM debacle!?). But also the editing. The music, vibes, jokes, etc. This is legitimately filling the void left for me by the original Top Gear trio. I wish both of you (Ben and Ben) the best, and hope you guys continue to make videos for all of us in the future.
As a longtime DSM owner the #1 thing I can tell you is ALWAYS change the timing belt no matter what the previous owner tells you bc people have a very bad habit of doing things wrong on these cars
Also nothing other than oem for tensioners, I used an aftermarket one and it lost pressure after only 500km, good thing I was tossing in a kiggy Crank trigger and I caught it before it wiped my motor out.

How relatable man. My first car since I came to the US in 2016. 2006 Eclipse Gen 4, 2.4L, bought it for $2400 in Dover, DE. I was excited as a cow driving with no plates to Ocean City, MD, and my timing belt did the same on HWY113. First towing and service experience within a day of buying a car. Damn if I'd known that my first car crash is less than a month apart LOL. 2016 was indeed the wildest year, it's always good to be 20 y.o.
You guys are the reason why i did my road trip . I drove 8k miles in 2 weeks from PA TO New orleans - California back to PA drove a 98 impreza wagon lowered and camp along side the road and national parks. Keep doing road trips like that
20:00 "I saw it was making its way over and didnt try and change it" Ladies and gentleman even if you think its a minor issue, always check the smallest of smallest potential faults of your vehicle, just for peace of mind. Love the show btw :D.
I will say with the experience I had with my 04 Rx8 through 15 years of ownership (4 failed motors, 2 failed transmissions just for starters despite doing everything under the sun you're "supposed to do" with a rotary) I am utterly shocked it actually held up, mind. blown.
Just wanted to say I really enjoy these road trips episodes. It's always a treat to watch these. Keep these episodes going and thanks for the amazing content 🫡

4g63 and 4g63t have differences. Evo 1-3 used the same engine as eclipses, for evo 4 came bigger changes. And some new issues too. Common to see evo 4s with never evos engines for safety. Both of my evos had evo 7 swaps, for reliability.
DSM for life!!! I still have my 1998 AWD Turbo Eagle Talon TSi, modded to check of course, but interior is full and the only delete I did was AC, that's it. Still looks like she's off the showroom floor. Still on talk and tuners occasionally, but nowhere near like back in the day. I have been trying to find the bigger brother 3/S Sealth RT/TT . I've always liked the Stealth and Talon bodies over the Eclipse and GTO 3000GT
Is so funny how you talk about the RX8. I had a friend with one that routinely drove from FL to KY and they did nothing special to it. No premix or that weird Rev thing. That car had nearly 150k before they finally traded it in for an SUV. That thing was bullet proof
I think the key thing was that your friend's car was probably continuously on the road and not in a barn for four years. And then Ben swapped in some sort of special motor and anything special needs special treatment.
The rev is really only needed on low compression series 1 rx-8s due to the weak starter. Older rx-8s can use the series 2 starter to help with this as well. With the extra oil injectors on the series 2 (which the R3 is) premixing is less of a problem but I still do it in my 2011. Ben should remove the clogged cat before it causes damage to the engine.
That's because he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about I can guarantee he didn't buy it with a blown motor it was flooded he did do the deflood correctly but when they start they smoke like a freight train and will continue to do so until you clear it out which means either drive it or hold it to the floor intervals until it stops
Drove an em1 from Cleveland ohio to fresno Cali. I bought two loaves of bread, a tub of cruchy peanut butter, and two gallons of water. I only stopped to sleep for about 3 hrs at a loves truck stop about an hr outside of denver Colorado. As a broke college student going home, I crossed my fingers all the way hoping my 16 year old civic wouldnt strand me on the side of a random highway. It's a shame Ben didn't have a see through timing cover so he could check the timing belt real easy - wait a minute
