4 wheel drive back in the 60s & early 70s was relatively expensive, didn't work well on dry pavement and required you to stop and get out to engage the front hubs to use it. Therefore the only people who bought the early SUVs were farmers, ranchers, contractors, and serious off-roaders, i.e. people who actually needed 4 wheel drive. @@greenlambo That is such BS. CAFE regs have been a sham from inception. Cars have not gotten more fuel efficient by a useable and significant margin since 1975. In fact, the only thing that has changed is that a) hybrid technology has gotten a significant boost (thankfully), and b) corporations constantly cut corners and pull shenanigans just to arbitrarily pump up a meaningless average value. For example, a 1975 year model Ford Bronco got 13 city and 18 highway miles per gallon, compared to the 2021 model which will allegedly pull out 21 city and 26 highway. Manufacturing a surplus of poorly made or poorly selling cars that exceed standards count toward upping the number, and are counted alongside cars that actually sell and are out on the road. Note, too, that the cars that sell the best tend to be those least restricted by CAFE (crossovers and full-size trucks). Very few people want to compromise on power, interior capacity, reliability, and aesthetics simultaneously just to be more environmentally conscious. If we truly want to place the burden of environmental healing on the consumer (instead of heavy industry and overland/oceanic/aero shipping, which causes the most pollution), then they are going to have to do a LOT better than taking away popular cars that work and replacing them with ugly little coffins because HURR HURR NUMBER GO UP WE DON'T HAVE TO PAY A CARBON TAX NOW YAAAY. Why do they think sales are down? When your options are "bland '98 Corolla that still works for $2k" or "fuck-ugly abomination that somehow has less acceleration and towing capacity than a '98 Corolla for $30k", guess what impoverished people are going to pick? It's a no-brainer. The most infuriating part of the “Blazer” is that GM already had a perfectly good midsize truck platform ready to do. The TrailBlazer may have died in North America in 2009, but it kept going for another generation in other markets. Australia even got it badged as a Holden. It’s still in production in Brazil. When they first teased that they wanted to bring back the Blazer, Trailblazer, or both, everybody figured that they’d just bring that one over or build something new on the same platform. I get that they want to focus on the lucrative crossover market, and that’s fine, but leave the Blazer out of it, please. Nothing was wrong with the Equinox name, and even if they thought there was, there’s no excuse to get the name of an off-roader that a lot of people care about involved.
The Blazer and Trailblazer are so generic in an ocean of CUVs that they would've sold the way they are without wasting the iconic nameplates. A total missed opportunity to sell to a new off-road SUV to compete with the Bronco.
Bronco: Retro inspired, bad ass classic looks. Blazer: Try to find a needle in a hay stack (or in this case, a Blazer in a crossover stack) GM: I don't get it, guys, WHY do the people care more about the Bronco than the Blazer!?
Chevy literally has no clue, I was involved in a consumer survey and the vehicle they were asking about looked really similar to the new Blazer (back in like 2016-2017). They were asking a lot of subjective questions about exterior looks and lifestyle. They also asked a bunch of questions about gimmicks they were planning to add (and insisted that reliability isn’t an issue cuz the manufacturer will guarantee reliability). Feel free to ask me more questions about this survey cuz there’s a whole lot more I can talk about that.

Relatively comfortable, decent gas mileage, maintenance costs are about the same as a basic run-of-the-mill sedan. Used prices are very low as well compared with similar cars since they made so many of them (350Z’s were the #1 or #2 best-selling sports cars throughout most of their production run, usually switching spots with the Chevrolet Corvette) Surprisingly reliable as well; I put ~250K on mine w/ regular maintenance and no major problems (just regular maintenance; the transmission did inexplicably lock in 3rd gear on two separate occasions, neither of which I was driving or even in the car. Since I put ~99% of the miles on that car and didn’t experience this, I have to conclude this was driver error). The convertible top mechanism began acting up as well, but it wasn’t inoperable nor was it relevant to driving requirements.

Now everyone thinks they need an SUV to be safe. Even my wife who has always preferred small hatchbacks is thinking her next vehicle may be an SUV

I could imagine that if Ford did release a 2020 Crown Vic. It would be more than just in the trending page.
I would absolutely go into crippling debt for a genuine re-release of the Crown Vic. Ford HAS to know the nostalgia for them.
A body-on-frame v8 sedan would be a bold move. But if it lives up at all you can bet it would sell.
@@jclark1693 Sadly CAFE regulations killed the Vic. But who knows they come in Hybrid ? 😏
But the eternal iron fist of Big Green won't be stayed by anything less, and Big Auto is content with making shitty cars to satisfy the bean counters and lawyers, so I guess all this is moot.
@@Hanzer-ns5bh OK, I know that "hybrid" is not CVPI's best friend. But I just missed the old days when the sedans are as the same size as SUVs. + It's hard to imagine that even after Ford killed CVPIs in 2011 it's legacy carried on, still exists in 2019 Movies and Games.

Blazer: Try to find a needle in a hay stack (or in this case, a Blazer in a crossover stack)
GM: I don't get it, guys, WHY do the people care more about the Bronco than the Blazer!?
Haha exactly
Chevy literally has no clue, I was involved in a consumer survey and the vehicle they were asking about looked really similar to the new Blazer (back in like 2016-2017). They were asking a lot of subjective questions about exterior looks and lifestyle. They also asked a bunch of questions about gimmicks they were planning to add (and insisted that reliability isn’t an issue cuz the manufacturer will guarantee reliability).
Feel free to ask me more questions about this survey cuz there’s a whole lot more I can talk about that.

"Very sneaky nii-san"
I've seen a hentai with the same dialogue
Yes officer, this is it
😂😂😂A lot of people won't get it.
You are either lying or stupid
10:32 -- Don't forget that EVERYONE was on a major retro kick at that time. This was the rough period of time that gave us the PT Cruiser, the Prowler, the Crossfire, the 300, the SSR, the HHR, the New Beetle, and the Audi Rosemeyer concept, to name the highlights.
Wasn’t the crossfire a much more futuristic car for the time?
People from the 60s were retiring and had money
chrysler 300s were badass, at least if it had a HEMI in it
Haha super bizarre watching Nolan talk about hatting camping after just watching the taco hi-low finale of the guys going on a whole as trip! Love the growth
Bronco: Throwback to a legend, with reminiscent styling cues and the off-road performance to match.
Blazer: Just some run-of-the-mill SUV with the Blazer name. Nothing special about it.
13:26 I was waiting for James in the background to butt in saying “we get it Nolan, you have a girlfriend “ 😂
12:17 Idk I'm getting pretty stoked for the new Nissan Z.
I have 1000,000 saved up ready to buy it
Your saying you have a million dollars?

Munshat Rahman speak for yourself, 350z’s are fun af
EX7RUD1CON They are; I had one for years. I have owned Porsche’s, several Corvettes, AMG’s, BMW’s etc.
The 350Z are best described as you did: fun. Not super fast, but not really slow either. Relatively comfortable, decent gas mileage, maintenance costs are about the same as a basic run-of-the-mill sedan. Used prices are very low as well compared with similar cars since they made so many of them (350Z’s were the #1 or #2 best-selling sports cars throughout most of their production run, usually switching spots with the Chevrolet Corvette)
Surprisingly reliable as well; I put ~250K on mine w/ regular maintenance and no major problems (just regular maintenance; the transmission did inexplicably lock in 3rd gear on two separate occasions, neither of which I was driving or even in the car. Since I put ~99% of the miles on that car and didn’t experience this, I have to conclude this was driver error). The convertible top mechanism began acting up as well, but it wasn’t inoperable nor was it relevant to driving requirements.
Typo @ 3:24...
