I like your Hollies pick for Rob's best decade question.. Loved the 45's picture sleeves in your collection ! Oh Man.. John Lydon and Marky Ramone ! You wouldn't have to do any talking ! Haha. This is your best video I’ve watched today 😉. I served dinner to Marky Ramone during my college job. He came into my restaurant because company policy is celebrities eat free. I had to explain to my manager who he was as his signed 8x10 he brought was from his solo/side band. Vegetarian guy.
That Blue Cheer album at 5:24 in is just as good as any Black Sabbath album. Just phenomenal rock n roll.
I only liked Summertime Blues when the album came out. I guess i wasn’t quite ready. Have you heard the 67 demos that were released on a RSD. They are outstanding.
30 soul albums! Wow, you sure pushed the boat out, Richie. Love that Son House album. 'Grinning in Your Face' offers sage advice for life.

Vinyl Ritchie - I have watched a good number of 2024 Vinyl Tag videos - I am sorry to say most of them lacked panosh. Yours did not lack panosh. Most did not even have 45s - seriously. I loved the fact that you had a record from the Bomp label (I love Iggy Pop’s Killy City on green vinyl) and also appreciated the Johnny Rotten and Marky Ramone invites - cage match style. Balanced out with Exene and PJ invites. I just picked up the Box Tops OG by the way. The “Bad Mamba Jamma” pick from Carl Carlton was also a great deep pick. Sorry for rambling - nice vinyl tag.
I must admit I had to look up the definition of panosh. Thank you for the kind words. I picked up the green vinyl of Kill City and was surprised how much I liked it. I’m a fan of Bomp and Voxx records.

That Los Saicos record is killer. I used to have that Hollies record, I recognized that cover right away. That's very cool. Damn straight that Culture Club's Colour By Numbers is a soul album! I did not know that about Madame Cyn!

Hi Ritchie, those Cockney Rejects albums took me back to my youth. Great answers.
I almost didn’t show the Cockney Rejects because I couldn’t find volume one.
You mentioned Jimi Hendrix. Now i maybe trippin' because i'm drunk, but i just realized that Jimi & Nirvana's Kurt Cobain had a lot in common.
1. Both men.
2. Both from Seattle, Washington.
3. Both singers.
4. Both were "left handed" guitarists.
5. Both died at 27 years of age.
6. Both released only 3 "studio" albums.
Hendrix: "Are You Experienced", "Axis Bold As Love", "Electric Ladyland"
Cobain: "Bleach", Nevermind"," In Utero"
That is quite a bit in common and would make for a great video.
Great tag. I enjoyed your arguments for the 60's although 50's Frank Sinatra is my favorite era for him. You would have quite an entertaining dinner party. You showed some great soulful vocalists.

You’re right Richie, you tag is better than mine 😂 Where to begin?!? A ringside seat for Johnny Rotten v Marky Ramone would be explosive! To set the mood at your dinner party/punch-up, maybe get that I Was A Teenage Caveman compilation playing in the background… it looks a real stomper. Loads of great stuff there… ? And Mysterians, Flame Job, plus all the funk/soul stuff. A fine smorgasbord of musical delight!

Detroit was much more cheated than San Francisco. The referees have been a major problem this year. Though I don’t think it is all their fault. Many of the rules have been made over complicated.
Your decade answer made me want to re-think my 70's answer. Although now that I think about, isn't a decade ten years, no matter when it starts. My new answer is 1964-1974.
I hate to break the news but 1964-1975 is eleven years. This was a fun tag. In the past I have done totally ridiculous vinyl tags. You have shamed me into not doing that again.

Re: Hall & Oates, dudes sit that close together for the photo shoot, however. Now though, I think John Oats is suing Hall for royalties or something. Glad you pointed out what questions you took exceptions too.

This is the second vinyl tag I've seen where John Lydon is on the dinner party guest list. Exene is a real trip too.
I only watched Rob’s and the Vinyl Scavenger before making this video. The Vinyl Scavenger chose John Lydon as one of his guest.
Choosing a decade was definitely very tough. I went with the 70s but I would definitely miss all of the great stuff you showed from the 60s! Nice Ringo 7 inch- I love It Don’t Come Easy. That’s my favourite Ringo tune. You’ve got a great Punk collection Rich. Garage Geek is a great channel. You’ve also got some great Soul in your collection! The Brief Encounter! Nice. Is that one an original? Are You Experienced! Very nice. A greatest hits indeed. Great tag Rich!
The Brief Encounter and the Cane and Abel are reissues.
I first saw the surf punks in the film Skateboard Madness, it was on tv in the afternoon, back when there was no real daytime TV. Phil Hartman narrated the film.
The Surf Punks had a couple of great songs.

Well, that was a fun variety of albums and topics. I don’t really categorize music much either, but enjoyed the artists you showed in the “soul” group. I have many of them, including a few of those Motown anthologies. Happy new year!
The Motown Anthologies are great. My ex got most of them.

I have been a bad influence for a long time.
All praises to Buck Owens and the Buckaroos. Bakersfield California has a great history. Also The Surf Punks are every thing to me.
Buck Owens and the Buckaroos were the first band I saw live at Hart Park.
I actually had all three of your albums that everyone has! But they were the only ones along with Are You Experienced. Always an interesting selection and presentation, Richie. I dipped out in the 80s and have very little from then and got back into music in a big way in the 90s.
I dipped out of music around 96. It wasn’t only about the music but for personal reasons too.
Mine was a mix of stuff too, Richie. I got married for the first time in 1980 and amongst a lot of stuff we had nothing in common over one was music! My career was beginning to hot up. But mostly I hated synth-pop and didn't try enough to find ,more interesting music.

I have that Funhouse Highlights record, it's what I llsten to now if I want to hear that record. Allman Brothers Band at Fillmore East is considered to be the greatest live album ever by a lot of people. I'm not one of them but I like it a lot. God's Valley of Peace looks nice, but I'm not sure I'd appreciate the music. Waller Creek Boys looks very cool. Are You Experienced really could be a greatest hits....Hollies rule!
60's is excellent, was the Jepperson Airplane on Corumbia records?? I do believe Oates & Hall were a couple, like you said that 70's stash gives it away.
I never really paid attention to that album cover. The record was out and a young gal that was at my apartment asked, “Are they a couple.” I told her, “Yeah, they might be.”
The Corumbia label is classic. Though I forget what comps those were.

I never could find a good copy of the Allman Brothers at the Fillmore. I decided to pick up the Mofi. It does sound great. The Del Vetts is good 60’s garage.

Hall& Oates are in involved in some serious legal wrangling against each other...which seems really sad at this point in their careers, I’m a fan of most of their stuff. Abandoned Lunchenette is great. I have a feeling Madam Cyn was involved in a few comps, but can’t be sure? Always trying to track that one down, but I’ve never seen it.
Hall and Oates are going through an ugly breakup. Is it clear what Oates actually did?
@@vinylrichie007 I think Oates has tried to to sell his share of the songwriting publishing & Daryl Hall alleges that he had previously agreed never to do that or something? As always with these things it’s all a bit complicated!
Yeah I saw that video of Johnny Lydon and Marky Ramone. John called Marky a Metalhead I think. Marky told Lydon to sit down repeating it. Marky was in a band called Dirt which was a proto metal band. He was in Richard Hell And The Voidoids after that. His real name is Mark Bell. Great drummer. Always liked him in The Ramones. Tommy Ramone was good though on those early Ramones albums. @@vinylrichie007 Yes Johnny had a lot to deal with when his wife was sick at the time. She has since passed. Johnny really man-ed up and took care of her the best he could. I agree that they should mend things. Both are from the original punk scene and are from legendary bands. It's very pUnK to put each other down but they are older now and should patch things up. The England versus New York punks really bashed each other back in the day. Just like New York punk versus Los Angeles punk.They're all great bands. Just like here in New Jersey. The original Misfits are awesome. Happy New Year Richie!
The Ramones album you showed is it a good album is it worth to buy . I was thinking to buy that album to put in my collection of the Ramones
Rocket To Russia is the 3rd Ramones album and a good starting place. The other Ramones album shown was Subterranean Jungle which is my favorite 80’s album by them.
