Thanks for the shout out, Chris. I'd only heard of that 78rpm 999 single. Lucky you! I had their first album and sold it- along with a load of others- when I needed cash in the 80s. Bad memories. 😢I believe I'm your 821st subscriber.

Very nice presentation my friend. Loved the John Foxx selection. A piece of useless trivia, in April 2011 there was an event put on by Wall of Sound at London’s Troxy. John Foxx played a set and so did Gary Numan. Great show, a great act of young lads was The Mirrors.

Hi Chris .. thanks for doing this .. I have that foxx album .. numan had the hits but I like that foxx album you’re the first to show those ramones albums Chris . Fanfare for the common man classic! I bought Slow down when it came out .. great singles from 77 I’ve always loved Spanish stroll .i have that crusaders album 👍. For the first time Chris I have that riff raff record 😀.. I’ll give it a spin as initially I thought it wasn’t that good . I like that now spinning channel . That is definitely a 90s classic .. really enjoyable tag response Chris have a great 2024 👍.

Excellent as ever. Hope to get mine out over the weekend. Will be at least one duplicate to yours I think. Thanks for the shout out. I think you are first to actually name my Crushed Custard channel in a video. Came as a bit of a surprise, but a pleasant one. So thanks for that. Cheers.

hell yeah the 70s ruled. I was a teenager in the late 70s. Most of my albums are from that decade. Tommy Bolin - yes! I have a few of his CDs, no vinyl at this time. We have very similar taste. Thin Lizzy, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Rainbow, Tommy Bolin. Zeppelin at your dinner party!!! Hell yes. I'm late to the vinyl community and I just completed my vinyl tag 2024 last week.

Great choices, Chris! Love to hear about albums I’ve not heard of and you’ve mentioned a few. Will be checking out the Fenton Robinson. Two great Ramones albums.. I’ve got Leave Home on vinyl, but only have Rocket to Russia on CD. Cheers, Jack

I enjoyed your response. Great call with Ramones. The mini Tommy Bolin tribute was outstanding. That Billy Cobham record is excellent. I need to seek out the other one you showed (Alphonse). I got Screamadelica in 2023; I hadn't heard it before. Really like it. I hope your 2024 is off to a great start Chris!

Happy new year Chris, and happy birthday too I'm guessing! Interesting to see The Nosebleeds. Vinin Reilly ended up playing on Morrissey's first solo album - I love his playing on Suedehead.

Hi Chris, nice John Foxx find, which is on my mental wishlist. Crusaders a great choice for a funky artist. I like a lot of the Now Spinning videos too. Both great 90s albums and Sex Pistols a good call too. Interesting tag Chris, cheers Dale

Hey Chris! So excited to hear Tommy Bolin as your most played, and that is hard to do, as he only lived to be 26. He is one of my top 5 guitarists, and I was lucky enough to see him in Sept 76, just 3 months before he died. You don't have 'Private Eyes?' The 70's and England are the answers. Love Mink, don't see him much in the VC. Would love to be the 6th member of Purple! BOC, saw them on that tour! Cheers!

@@TheVinylOrchard - just watching some of your other videos now - I think we have a similar musical experience- my first gig was as an 11 yr old in 1982 - the mighty Whitesnake with cozy Powell drum solos etc - at the Birmingham odeon - good to see the. Quo get a mention !

    Montrose supporting Quo: Wow!
I have Riff Raff Vinyl Futures on vinyl as well as that 999 single (45rpm unfortunately.)
Didn't know Bolin played on that Alphonse Mouzon LP: another to add to the want list.
Incidentally, I loved your NWOBHM videos. They were my introduction to your channel and made me a regular viewer (although I just realised I'm not subscribed - oversight now remedied.) You're right when you say that videos we make that are our personal favourites aren't necessarily popular with viewers. I made one on music from behind the Iron Curtain, which was pretty much ignored despite being a labour of love. Still, I had fun researching and making it. Looking forward to more videos from you in 2024. ☮️

I didn’t realise for several years that I had seen Montrose either! They were just a loud band to me when I was 11. I did wonder if someone would have riff Raff but I know no one will have that 999 single. It’s super rare. Mouzon Lp is better than Soectrum for me. Thanks for the feedback on NWOBHM. I enjoyed putting those together. Cheers my friend, Chris

Hi Chris. Interesting response to the tag. The Clive Stevens album is something I need to check out. Mahavishnu folks and John Abercrombie are certainly peaking my interest. Great selection on Deep Purple! I saw them in Minneapolis in 2000 I believe it was, but not the same surely. Cheers, Richard

The Ramones debut came out in 76. Leave Home and Rocket To Russia both came out in 77. 7 singles from 77 is a good tak on the question. I agree, I Feel Love is a great song.

    • @TheVinylOrchard
      @TheVinylOrchard  7 місяців тому +1

Yes to Ramones dates. I bought leave home and RTR in late 77 early 78. Got the debut about a year later. Great band. At least until 78 that is. After that I felt they were, like many punk bands, done. Cheers my friend, chris

Nice entry Chris - until the mention(s) of a certain band (now you know why I chose 66-75 as my favourite decade so I could miss their time 😁).
I keep looking out for early NWOBHM albums but with no luck as yet (or at least not at an affordable price). I remember buying The Last Concert in Japan via mail order when it cam out - not something I hardly ever did then) - and Wild Dogs was easily the best thing on it. Still have it, though not spun it for years.
Led Zeppelin as the entertainment at your party - love it! I might gatecrash.
The only time I saw Whitesnake was also on the Ready & Willing tour - they were excellent - much preferred the early Bernie Marsden era of the band to the later stuff.
I really enjoyed your NWOBHM videos - very instructive. Recently discovered Now Spinning Magazine - great site for info on box sets. Have you tried Andy Edwards site? He used to be the drummer for IQ for a short period, and is not only a big fan of prog but also does a lot about jazz fusion - he recently did a video on the 100 greatest jazz fusion albums.
Great finish with Secret Treaties and Quo - both superb albums.
All the best for 2024... Pete

Great selections Chris - loved the ELP /Athletics story . I have the Clive Stevens LP but was a little disappointed as Billy Cobham is pretty restrained :-)) Made in Japan is such an exciting album - every instrument so well recorded . I 'm still searching for a copy in the wild of Mind Transplant - Mouzon and Bolin together as you say , incendiary ! Best G

I did wonder with that cast of the Clive Stevens would only be owned by me. It’s interesting whilst slightly disappointing given the make up of musicians. MIJ is the greatest live Lp for so many reasons. Mind transplant is better than Spectrum IMO
      Cheers Graham, Chris
