The guitar business is rife with copying even before Behringer existed. How many really original guitar designs and gain pedal circuits have been invented since 30 years ago? Hell, look at the reception the guitar community gave this certain someone some time ago threatening on video to enforce their trademark and telling people that they are fake because they play copies. The whole guitar business is based on copying, behringer is just the most blatant at it.
In that particular Kirn article unfortunately, and something I write about a lot, not only is that FCB 1010 far superior to the roland in many ways, but pathetically, it is pretty much the only standard for a foot controller these days...and I swear its been around forever, how is it still the final word?
I bought a brand new 300 watt ultrabass head for my gold ol mesa diesel cabs. The head sounds good, the only problem is that the head has already been cutting out at the first 2 shows I used it at. Thanks Behringer!
Put a brand new battery on a beringer pedal, and I kid you not the pedal was dead in under 10 minutes, I'd barely even started using it before the battery flatlined! XD I know what I'm not buying anymore!
They or not “air quotes” they are actual quotation marks because they are written down. Air quotes are when you mime quote marks with your fingers. So "quote ‘blah blah…’ end quote” would suffice 🙂
@@justin48914 I think we are talking about neither. I was talking about @Omegon’s reading of the Behringer letter. (Though my point was about his use of “air quotes”, not about his tone, which was a fine rendition of a wordy response).
Holy shit! how can you not yet have a million subscribers, the quality of your videos is much higher than most guitar/music channels. (Apart from the actual video quality..) I have been watching you for about a year now, and your videos just keep getting better and better, keep it up!
I stopped using Berhinger years ago (2005ish) after I bought a "tube" Eurorack mixer. It had a yellow LED behind the tube to make it look like it was glowing.
Deffinitly preffer stuff that lets you see the whole tube so you can at least confirm that the cathode is actually heating up and glowing, hard to trust things that just stuff the tube out of sight or where you can't get a good look at the whole thing
This is much bigger than music! This guy clearly shows how much he cares about Justice and the right thing. He’s not even afraid getting heat for saying something that goes against the general consensus. This video obviously took a lot of time to make so kudos for going beyond the extra mile.
"Air Quotes" are only "Air Quotes" if you are gesturing with your fingers in the air as you speak. If you are reading from text, they're just "Quotes".
Personally I have no problem with Behringer "copying" products and buying up other companies, as long as the consumer is still able to tell the one from the other. Everybody does it. That's just the way our economy works and after all strong competition is always good for the consumers. I do have a problem with Behringer suing critics and people they encounter on social media though. That's just a bad move and it backfires nearly every time.
Man I commented on a Beringerh rd 8 video, asking them if they are going to fix the midi clock sync with other non Beringerh synths, and they treat me like I was an idiot that didnt update the machine......
I hate to be that guy, but the guy doing the voiceover (Omegon?) has such an awkward delivery that it somehow sounds like someone trying to put on an accent they don’t actually have, reading each clause of each sentence as a separate take and stitching it together after the fact, or a text to speech device in any event. Whichever one it is, the point is that it’s incredibly distracting, especially in such a long statement to read back. Nice idea to get someone else to play the other character in the dialogue, but in future you may want to think about giving them some more direction on delivery, or have some kind of process for finding someone who does the best job with the material. Hell, I doubt you’ll ever actually read this, but I’d even do it to save the hassle 😂
It sounds like a human trying really hard to sound like a TTS engine. Incredibly annoying to listen to. Or maybe it's just a TTS engine that he was messing around with, which is equally annoying. Or maybe he made a TTS engine of his own voice and let it do the majority of the work. Either way I'm annoyed.
He sounded like TTS in the beginning but I think it got better. Perhaps he was a bit rusty or mildly nervous and should have just done another take after getting the hang of it?
I have bought 2 Behringer pedals in the past. Both were defective out of the box. Shortly after, I started handling the Canadian imports of their products for the customs broker I worked for and learned more about the company and the manufacturing. I would never buy anything from them again.
I also only have one and the input Jack came broken. The jack was so poor you can't even replace it without replacing the entire board. It just wasn't worth the hastle to send it back for £25
@@VodkaSelekta Ah, there is no 1/4inch jack that can't be EASILY replaced on ANY pedal. I jam with a guy that's used the same Behringer OD pedal for over a decade. Plastic and cheap as hell, yet it works. Same as the Danelectro stuff. Half the "bad inputs" I see are just dirty and corroded, especially if shipped around the world after a year in storage. Just fixed a "broken", BRAND NEW PRS for a friend, with a spray of contact cleaner and a brush. I got a Bogner pedal that came with a defective switch as well, and a brand new Marshall were the reverb didn't work. Does that mean I'll never buy from them again? Of course not. I ain't defending any corporation, just stating the facts.
Ah, Canada has laws against such defective products, ESPECIALLY imports. Penalties include fines of up to C$5 million and imprisonment of up to two years. Certain offences under the Criminal Code may apply to corporations and their directors, officers and employees relating to the manufacture and distribution of products in Canada. These offences may include fraud and criminal negligence"
@@kennethc2466 One of the pedals I got was wired incorrectly so that when switched on the battery power went in a loop and back into the battery instead of powering the pedal. Within a couple of minutes it was so hot I thought it was going to catch fire. The other was a copy of a big muff fuzz and just produced nothing but feedback. I can replace switches on pedals, that's something simple. But this was obviously zero QC after manufacturing. Just build it and box it , no testing of units to see that they work.

Another weird Behringer thing I sure noticed is the straight up CRAZY cyber bullying by really aggro Behringer proud boy fans. I'm a grown-ass middle aged musician that's done pretty well in several groups and run a record label with some big names and I've been straight up cyber bullied like a pimple faced teen nerd by these trolls in various vintage synth groups etc. A little personal bad experience and warning about a Beh product has quickly turned into people attacking personal pictures of me and my family, my music, etc. Haha. It's funny but crazy messed up. It's always the same "purists" and "snob" comments at first and then turns to crazy stuff. Almost seems cut and paste. It's almost always deleted after a few days.
I kind of admire the blatant copying. Intellectual property can become stifling. And maybe it's good to have someone push the boundaries of it. But the lawsuits and intimidation? That's really nasty behaviour.
They claim to have an 'open door' policy but clearly not even an 'open window' one for the China factory. The 'non disparagement clause' in their employee contracts is effectively a gagging order (pun intended) If Behringer made a hairdryer it would probably suck.
Ok i didn't know anything over this. I used to own some behringer interfaces, microphones and pedals which i really liked... But this kind of stuff is cruel and well...bad. Very bad people.
Set up a go fund me if they sue you. We got your back, and the employees and they victims of copyright theft. A lot of conflicting statements and actions.
Agreed. Got an rd 8 and xenyx mixer, and they've been awesome. Been putting off getting the firmware update on the 808 clone, but I've had no problems, regardless (I don't have a midi or synth, anyways, so it hasn't been an issue yet)
We've had hot spots and 16 channel hearback systems from them for years now, zero issues even with hard use. Just invested in their X32 and X16 -- rock solid so far. I don't believe that any of these are direct copies of other companies' products, either.
With the Boss copies this is definitely the case. I have Boss pedals that are 30 years old, and have never needed servicing, even after everyday use for years, and/or just sitting for years. The only thing I’ve ever needed to fix on a Boss pedal is the soldering on the input, output or power input. I would tell someone to get the Behringer Ultra Vibrato first(But Used, Not New), before paying for the oh so coveted Boss Vibrato, whether the Waza rerelease, or the originals that sell for $400. One can know exactly what either of those Boss pedals will sound like, and make a decision whether it’s worth the price for them. Same with the Superfuzz, and to some degree the Time Machine, to decide whether it’s worth buying a Superfuzz made by a quality builder, or investing in an older EHX Memory Man, with the expensive bucket brigade chips, or a more recent one with the less expensive 🪣 chips. Or, a smaller builder, who is selling their version of this circuit, which nowadays could be competitive with EHX, or three times the price. Until folks actually boycott buying Behringer(again, only Buy Used), to the point it makes a dent in the bottom line, Uli will never change his practices, because it’s just all business in his mind.
@@cederickforsberg5840 i ve heard the same, I use to have a Xenyx and it was noisy as hell, but i think there is no comparision beetwen both units, because of the price
The synths, high end mixers and interfaces are great. The Pro One, Wasp and Cat are way better built than the originals. The UMC404HD interface is a literal tank. The DM12 is also well built (although they use the same shitty keybed some other companies also use and no one complains).

I once saw a complete propaganda piece from PMT-UK on their channel FILLED with Gibson's marketing lies and half-truths. It was stunning!
Seems you were just born yesterday. 🤣
Well, duh. They're music STORES. Their job is to SELL the products.
I hope that thing about Oberheim resuming production of instruments thing is true, I’d kill for a reissue of the DMX drum machine
Can you use something like that in jail? :-)
I had one and there was nothing special on it .
Those Uli parody accounts are hilarious! They deserves so much more attention!
Your documentaries are so underrated. You dig deep and obtain all the important info and deal it out in an easy-to-understand form. 👍🏻
Those workers going on strike were really, really brave!
Indeed. In China you can be disappeared for standing up and not letting the government and their various financial arms (Chinese companies) walk all over you.
Sick video bro, your quality in both production and writing/research has gone up so much - your videos have always been entertaining, but this is the best IMO.
Downloading and archiving this video...you know...just in case...
good move king
Gotta watch it quick before it gets taken down
Rob Chapman and Behringer sitting in a tree KISSING. First came love then came marriage, then came KDH with AUDIO AUDIT to let us know what's up.
I *love* that they hold up P.T. Barnum as something to aspire to, as if that makes them look any better?
Good call 👍😂
As a fellow musician and a Journalism graduate with a BA and and MA degrees I can only say that this is a FAN.TAS.TIC investigation. My hats off to you.
Thank you for speaking on the working conditions of working for this company. It's almost never addressed when people talk about behringer. It's the most important aspect of whether people should buy Behringer's gear.
Bro your text to speech software is becoming self aware and I am deeply concerned
Respect to you for what you do, even knowing about the dangers.
Finally got around to watching this. It was very interesting, I really appreciate the amount of research that you put into making these.
Ah, finally a bunch of good reasons to replace my "Vintage Overdrive" with a proper TS9, other than "it's plastic."
Edit: I actually laughed out loud at those Fake Uli tweets. Those deserved way more than 4 likes.
I’ve got one of the Vintage Overdrives around, it hasn’t been on my board in a while but as much as I hate to admit it it’s really a good sounding tube screamer clone
@@277southtombob I couldn't agree more, one of the first pedals I bought a few years ago was the Tube Vintage Overdrive. A few months ago I bought the JHS Bonsai, and honestly, if the Behringer's clone would be in the Bonsai, I wouldn't be able to tell it sounds of.
May I also recommend you check out the Earthquaker Devices Plumes OD? Incredibly cheap but AMAZINGLY sturdy and has a fantastic clipping selector.
@@mrcreepypl And Josh would be the first to recommend Behringer pedals. His video on Behringer pedals was his most watched video and probably made Behringer millions of dollars.
I love mine, same as the super chorus. Guess I'll not choose them over any other Chinesium but I'm not taking my TO800 off my pedalboard. It's fantastic and I can't afford anything else. Sold my BD2 for two Behringer pedals and I'm much happier.
11 dislikes from behringer's managment
The reason I never bought any behringer products, is because I tried them.
Holy shit, there's a lot to take in from this video but that ad is something else. I wanna know who writes their factory theme songs though, the one featured is a genuine bop.
I’m happy I got to see this before UA-cam takes it down.
Sees Audio Audit…..instantly likes and watches the whole thing….
Perhaps the best thing about this video is that it didn’t come off as a “hit piece”. I like that you actually reached out to Behringer for comment, rather than just making a bunch of assumptions or trying to speak for them. You’re setting the bar high for these audit type videos and you’ve earned a subscriber - keep up the good work!
Wow, I knew Behringer made some questionable products, but I didn't realise their business practices were so totally scummy. Great video.
Bravo! Hard hitting stuff for UA-cam. Keep fighting the good fight KDH.
So Behringer spends more on lawyers than R&D?
😲 oh wait - does that mean I'm gonna get sued now?!
Behringer has been a point of contention in the synth community for the last few years, glad to see the guitar community seeing this too.
@@freehey629 I think the legal drama and lack of accountability are more the issues than copying products
only at gearslutz. The rest of the world doesn't care.

so many people talk trash about China but Chinese people work so hard it’s messed up on both sides
That first commercial was insane 😳
I cracked up when he said "it's a Behringer"
In that particular Kirn article unfortunately, and something I write about a lot, not only is that FCB 1010 far superior to the roland in many ways, but pathetically, it is pretty much the only standard for a foot controller these days...and I swear its been around forever, how is it still the final word?
An amazing effort is being put into these videos by you... Thanks and keep them coming.
Everybody gangster, until KDH makes an Audio Audit on you
I bought a brand new 300 watt ultrabass head for my gold ol mesa diesel cabs.
XD
I know what I'm not buying anymore!
They or not “air quotes” they are actual quotation marks because they are written down. Air quotes are when you mime quote marks with your fingers. So "quote ‘blah blah…’ end quote” would suffice 🙂
yeah can't stand his cadence either it's like he's not understanding the meaning of the words he's reading
Agreed. And calling them air-quotes like this implies sarcasm - there's no sarcasm implicit in the use of a quote or the marks to signify it.
Are you talking about behringer or kdh
@@justin48914 I think we are talking about neither. I was talking about @Omegon’s reading of the Behringer letter. (Though my point was about his use of “air quotes”, not about his tone, which was a fine rendition of a wordy response).
@@matthewtyler-jones8317 Oh right cheers
Holy shit! how can you not yet have a million subscribers, the quality of your videos is much higher than most guitar/music channels. (Apart from the actual video quality..) I have been watching you for about a year now, and your videos just keep getting better and better, keep it up!
OMG, that commercial was wild. I can't believe a real company actually did that.
I know, their depiction of the average modern woman was so accurate, I couldn't believe it.
That advert was so bad, glad to see the Judge roasted it
I stopped using Berhinger years ago (2005ish) after I bought a "tube" Eurorack mixer. It had a yellow LED behind the tube to make it look like it was glowing.
They are sadly not the only company doing that....including some very big brands (like vox).
Deffinitly preffer stuff that lets you see the whole tube so you can at least confirm that the cathode is actually heating up and glowing, hard to trust things that just stuff the tube out of sight or where you can't get a good look at the whole thing
At least it was the right color. Other brands use blue LEDs instead....When tubes give out amber light.
They stole that idea from Aphex lol
This is much bigger than music! This guy clearly shows how much he cares about Justice and the right thing. He’s not even afraid getting heat for saying something that goes against the general consensus. This video obviously took a lot of time to make so kudos for going beyond the extra mile.
I like how he cracks up saying Corksniffer Controversy
Such a great report and in detail. Thanks for your time.
i love my Ashdown Mag 450w bass amp, it's just a shame it's got Behringer's name written on it everywhere.
Ashdown=behringer? Really?
shit man if you dont want it ill take it off your hands lmao
Hit like before seeing the video. Very brave, thank you!!
"Air Quotes" are only "Air Quotes" if you are gesturing with your fingers in the air as you speak.
If you are reading from text, they're just "Quotes".
If all youtube beef was like this, the website would be a slightly better place
This video was sooooo SIZE!!!
Keep it up KDH!!!
Amazing work. Fearless and intelligent.
We need more truth and awareness.
Cheers!
I already know this is gonna be good
I hate to be that guy, but the guy doing the voiceover (Omegon?) has such an awkward delivery that it somehow sounds like someone trying to put on an accent they don’t actually have, reading each clause of each sentence as a separate take and stitching it together after the fact, or a text to speech device in any event.
I thought he read too slow so I watched in twice the speed. It actually fixed all the problems you had with it.
It sounds like a computerized voice
You should ask for a refund.
Golden, absolutely golden! Great job!
"Under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, a company, its directors and officers can be found liable of a criminal offence for breach of the act.
@@kennethc2466 I talked to employees at Behringer Canada when I started handling imports, and they were very unprofessional and if you brought up quality issues they got very hostile and didn't want to talk about it. I wouldn't expect or trust customer service from a company like that. I have been in the import business a long time and I know a garbage company when I see one.
Gotta say have only just discovered your channel and am hugely impressed with how intelligently and dilligently your subjects are researched. also, amazing video. it did not feel like an hour.
Maybe because it's less than an hour long?😜
I just started watching this. I love you KDH
I guess I'm glad someone stole my Behringer Interface. I wouldn't want to use their products after seeing this Business model.

Wow. You’re really good at this. Love these audits. Appreciate all the hard work that went into this. It shows.
I kind of admire the blatant copying. Intellectual property can become stifling. And maybe it's good to have someone push the boundaries of it. But the lawsuits and intimidation? That's really nasty behaviour.
Also - those employees they show are in R&D roles - not the production line
31:23 do yourself a favor, ya'll and increase the playback speed.
Another great one, thanks man 👏🏻🤘🏻
They claim to have an 'open door' policy but clearly not even an 'open window' one for the China factory. The 'non disparagement clause' in their employee contracts is effectively a gagging order (pun intended) If Behringer made a hairdryer it would probably suck.
This must have been a lot of work, great video!
Ok i didn't know anything over this. I used to own some behringer interfaces, microphones and pedals which i really liked... But this kind of stuff is cruel and well...bad. Very bad people.

@@jonathanmurdoch6210 I’m looking to buy a used model D myself. However I really want a poly D. So many awesome features packed into one synth.
We've had hot spots and 16 channel hearback systems from them for years now, zero issues even with hard use. Just invested in their X32 and X16 -- rock solid so far. I don't believe that any of these are direct copies of other companies' products, either.
My dude awesome content and episode with you and the moms was dope 🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
I'd rather pay a bit more and get something that will last.
Behringer X32 mixers are actually well-made products, many touring bands use those
@@cederickforsberg5840 i ve heard the same, I use to have a Xenyx and it was noisy as hell, but i think there is no comparision beetwen both units, because of the price
The synths, high end mixers and interfaces are great. The Pro One, Wasp and Cat are way better built than the originals. The UMC404HD interface is a literal tank. The DM12 is also well built (although they use the same shitty keybed some other companies also use and no one complains).
@@CorbCorbin apart from the flimsy plastic case, many of their boss pedal copies are identical and you can't tell the difference from blind test.
Behringer sending cease and desists for people calling them "shameless copycats"?
Maybe their pedals should stop being happy meal boss pedals if they don't wanna be called SHAMELESS COPYCAT.
