Thank you for sharing your little piece of gold with us ! I had no idea she ever even did this part. I finally got to see Betty in Hello Dolly a few years back. She was wonderful, but not quite the same as getting to hear her voice back in the 80s.
To all the people/persons who are responsible /involved somehow from back then until it settling here & now I say to you THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!
Do you have an exact date for this recording? I have another one from october 30th and I just wanted to see if this one was recorded earlier or later? Thanks for sharing!
How is this an audience recording from 80s? It’s bizarrely higher quality than some modern audios. Judging by the loud audience whispers in parts, it must be... Does anyone know what this was recorded on?
This is indeed an audience recording, from an orchestra seat. It was recorded on a good quality but standard, small audio cassette recorder, with, I believe, a separate microphone. This turned out to be one of those times when the sound was ideal for the location of the taper, and the result is remarkably good. Exactly why I put the whole thing up rather than a couple of the big songs. It also doesn't hurt that Betty's singing is extraordinarily powerful.
What a treasure!!! Thank you!
You are doing the Lord’s work, posting this.
Wonderful wonderful! Betty Buckley! ♥️Xxxooo
For those looking, "Unexpected Song" starts at 27:24 and she kills it.
Thank you so much!
Betty has always been my favorite voice on Broadway, so this makes me happier than you'd know.

These lyrics can get corny at times, but Damn she tackles this score like a BEAST!
