@bman712 I'm pretty sure her job in this context is to try to sell the show... she's not stupid, she would have known full well what made the show massively flawed. But her job here is to make people think that it's all going well, and that they should come see the show. Having to gloss over your own personal opinion on a show you're in is hard and I think she did pretty well.
She did know. I interviewed her before it opened and she admitted to not being comfortable with all the pyrotechnics and big effects they were trying to achieve, and was more focused on developing and exploring her character as a woman living in isolation and torment. She also told me she had wanted to go for the part of Margaret in the original movie, thinking in her 20s that "I could do anything," but agreed that Piper Laurie did amazing things with the part
I love her- she is so god about this interview, and she's right! It was getting standing ovations and lots of good (as well as bad) press. If the dingy producers would have had their act in gear, and gave it an extra 2-3 weeks of previews, it would have been bank! Even though, I'm excited for the 2012-'13 revival (yes, you heard me right....)
There is no soundtrack, but there are fan sites, that have a recording that took place one performance night. Its amazing! There are also rumors that the rights have been sold again for a REVIVAL! but so far it's a myth.
