Man oh man this was a fantastic experience watching this. My grandsons love to watch these videos with me. I usually preview and then we watch them again together. Great great stuff. I just recently discovered this artisan because of a chef knife challenge (or something like that, sorry I am old and forgetful). This hero makes it look so easy and fun but I gotta say that there is no way I could do this or even anything remotely close. You want a PCB built then I’m your man (or I was before retiring several years ago) I can even fabricate anything from wood but metal is WAY beyond anything a human being should be able to do. This is amazing and I wish good health, happiness and all the best to you and your family!
Thanks Wesley! I didn’t think I could do it until I tried. Now after only 3 years I’m making what you see, so it doesn’t take long. Thanks for watching!
I'm 15 and just got a forge going so I don't think age matters much so if you really want to do it then go for it
@@vergil2763 same I’m 14 and starting out my blade smith career
@@TyrellKnifeworks Excellent work!
I don't think this is a historical sword, though. I think it was created specifically for the film. I believe the Spartans, like the rest of the Hellenic world, used either a Xiphos or a Falcata as their backup blades.
nice can i have it please?
the Spartans would have loved your work
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching.
Another beautiful piece of functional art. I'm in awe of your craftsmanship..
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching!
Beautiful work, and a lot of it. And even though it's a small thing, your maker's mark is outstanding.
Thanks, this was a fun build and I learned a ton! Thanks for watching!
Your build is excellent. The design of this weapon is superb.
Thanks so much! Hit that subscribe and turn on notifications to see other cool builds! 👍
This would be such a good weapon in a zombie apocalypse
I totally agree! This is probably the most fun weapon to use that I’ve made. Sure the katana is nice and all, but this thing is a chopper and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere in front of it in battle. 😜. Thanks for watching, Logan.
Even in the “regular” apocalypse lol bullets will be gold.
What a beautiful blade thank you for having me along.
Thank you for checking it out and watching!
The sword came out looking super nice, the patern wielded steel blade is very impressive!
Thanks! Still one of my favorites!
It was fun to watch the first time, the second time, I saw new things that didn't really dawn on me until today. Like that jig for the wire wrapping. That's awesome! Great stuff! Cheers!
Thanks for watching! 👍
This is art! Love the damascus pattern ❤️
Thanks for checking it out, Milo!
Forged in fire needs to give you a call immediately ,your talented man.
Thanks, Kenneth! I’m still waiting for them to call… not so patiently. 😜
Damascus carries some serious badass looks🔥
Thanks for checking it out!
My favorite forgings are the ones that contain copper in them.
Also it's a nice job of "PASTERN WELDING"
I’ve no idea what pastern welding is. Did you make that up? 😜
The wire wrapping jig with the ratchet.. brilliant.
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching!
As always, beautiful work.
Thanks Mike! ❤️
Its a amazing peace of art! You did well Sir, very well! 👍🏼
Thanks so much, Patrick! I appreciate you watching.
For my opinion I would have decided to do a Sang Mai style blade, but the damask blade and the sword in general also look very good and it's an absolutely great job - congratulations on that.
Thanks for checking it out! 👍
That came out awesome, great work!
Thanks so much! 👍
Look at the dedication to his work he literally hand filed in some of the bevels thanks man ure to good to us
Yeah, the transition from the lower bevel to the upper bevel required file work. Those two bevels are different angles so it was tough on the grinder. Thanks for watching, Elijah!
Absolutely beautiful I love it.
Thanks Joe! 👍
Those hand filed transitions were awesome!
Thanks Justin! I can't say they were fun to hand sand after, but they turned out really nice I think. Thanks for watching!
Wow. Amazing. I love your how to work in progress. Is not go to rush to build a masterpiece.
Thanks so much, Riki!
That’s beautiful
Great job
Beautiful blade. Love your explanations, I appreciate the education you are giving me.
And I appreciate you watching, Bob! ❤️
Wow i can watch these videos all day! Awesome job!
Thanks for checking this one out as well, Gerhard! ❤️
Dude that piece is badass
Thanks for checking it out, Tim!
Man you are the best blacksmith i ever see. You are a true artist. Im big fan of your work
Thanks so much for watching!
That was a nice video. I love all the gadgets you have lol.
Thanks! This is a while ago, lots of new gadgets since then. 😜
Looks really great, nice pattern .
Thanks for checking it out!
That device at the beginning was pretty cool.
Which tool are you referring to, Christopher? The equal distance measuring tool? Those a super useful! Thanks for watching!
Really nice work, keep it up.
Thanks Jeremy! This is still one of my favs.
Very cool! I would love it if you could make some damascus blades and weapons from history, that would be incredibly awesome! Like a khopesh or falx/romphaia!
I do historical weapons on occasion. Right now I'm working on the three Ka-bars but at some point I'll do some other types of historical swords. Thanks for watching, Josiah!
I believe this knife would win any knife challenge! Like one word they got to cut the fish in the end! This is the beast of all beast. It will easily cut a slave from shoulder to hip, I guess depending on how big the slave is as well!
This is one of two builds that I haven’t sold. It’s a fun one to have on the table at shows. Thanks for watching, Dwayne!
Вот такие проекты, это именно то, что ждёт каждый зритель и любитель дамасской стали.
Спасибо огромное за ваш труд...
That wire wrapping jig made with a ratchet head is brilliant!
Thanks! It sure helps with wire wrapping! 👍
@@TyrellKnifeworks You're welcome. I often only stick to a channel or two on a topic to avoid getting sick of it, but I definitely have added you to my blacksmithing lineup alongside Shurap, Green Beetle, and Alec.
@@grovermatic Those are some heavy hitters right there, I’m honored to be in the list! 👍
O M G. That is n awesome blade!!!! Thank you for sharing! ❤️
Thanks for checking it out! 👍
Gotta love the hay day music at the beginning
Thanks for checking out the build
I wish I lived in a country where owning/making/procuring such a beauty was legal.... This is real art! It's my all time fav sword -the 300 movie Spartan sword.....and to see it in Damascus is pure joy👍
where do you live that this is illegal?
the west?
Where do you live? I can’t imagine a sword being illegal. Thanks for watching!
I live in India...born & raised. Currently the political environment over here is so volatile and unpredictable that even if it wasn't illegal it would make a person nervous to even order one. Coz I've been trying to order Honshu's Spartan sword since the past few years and everytime I would think about finalizing the deal it reminds me of how the government may misconstrue my intentions... It'd be hard to explain the separatist, superstitious, right wing conservative people, (kinda like our "brown necks"😂) in the government that I'm a die hard fan of movies and series like the walking dead, 300 & hence the sword, knives, guns fetish! If it were legal I would've ordered like a dozen of such masterpieces! Now I have to be content with a glock 17 airgun & a hunting knife🙄 Thank God that atleast airguns are allowed without a licence here!
Nice piece.. Cheers, Martin
Thanks Martin!
Beautiful and amazing craftsmanship, simply a piece of art❤❤❤
Thank you very much! I appreciate you taking a look. 🙏

I thought it was, given that the grinder is different, and you alluded to having done. Spartan sword, coincidentally, at the same time Airing did his.
Keep it coming, mate 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Masterpiece. I love this sword
Thanks for checking it out, Nikhil! 👍
Beautiful work. It's great to see actual forging instead of simple grinding and heat treating. Very nice.
Thanks for watching, Nathan.

Excelente trabalho. Parabéns 👏🇧🇷👏
¡gracias por ver!
Magnifique travail. Bravo.
Merci d'avoir regardé!
Very nice piece, and tons of hard work. I personally am not a fan of the makers mark in such a prominent location, and that large, but that's just me. I'd love to own one of your pieces one day. I've purchased a few pieces from several other smiths on UA-cam, and I love growing my collection. I'm hoping I can get a laminated wakizashi as my next piece. I absolutely loved your copper Damascus Katana from your previous build btw, copper makes everything better lol. Cheers!

I’m pretty sure there’s nothing radioactive in the shop. Thanks for watching.
Outstanding piece of work! Made me feel better about my handsanding excursions 😁. But a serious and seriously good looking blade. And beautifully rounded off by the Deadpool t-shirt in the testing section at the end!

Great work! Been working on my own damascus for a few months now but all i have is a small flypress. How many tons of pressure does your press exert?
Thanks! It’s a 30 ton press. If you checkout my Triple-T #3 video, I go over the press and provide a parts list of you want to build your own. 👍

Beautiful. How did you finish off the wire wrap on the handle? Drill a hole in the wood and stick the end inside or something else? It’s a super clean wrap job. I’m digging it
Edit: I saw how you secured the wire when you started the wrap, but didn’t see how you secured it once wrapped. Thanks 🙏🏽
Yes, it was ended the same way, you put the end into a hole drilled in the other end then you drive a toothpick with glue into the hole behind it. 👍. Thanks for watching
Hi. Great build! What is the name of that cool tool you used to mark up the distance on the Damaskus bar?
Thanks! The tool is an “equal distance measurement tool”. There’s a link to all the tools I use in the description. 👍
@@TyrellKnifeworks great😊 Thank you very much👍i Just ordered one😬
I thought I had seen it all, but that file work on the grind transition was awesome well done…. I didn’t see what tap set you were using in the description tho I’m looking for a quality tap set! Thanks for the awesome content
Thanks, that file work to mesh the two grinds was the biggest pain! Glad someone noticed. 😜 my tap set is a cheap set that I wouldn’t recommend. I’ve bought a bunch of single taps since then. The 1/4 20 is by far the one I use the most so I’ve probably got 3 or 4 of those. Thanks for watching!
@@TyrellKnifeworks hell yea it was beautiful, looking forward to watching some other videos, you seem to do extremely well with the fittings which takes the craftsmanship to a different level… good work…. You should consider doing a video on making a match set, but that being said I don’t pry but I think the challenge would definitely be there. Cheers
@@bradrewold2072 do you mean making a match set of knives? As in two identical ones? Not a bad idea, I may consider that in the future. 👍
@@TyrellKnifeworks exactly! Test your mettle hahah

Thanks for taking a look, Vladimir! Be sure to watch the Bowie Challenge video just released today!
I love this ancient Albanian Swords! Nice work Budy !
Thanks for taking a look!
Love your work as always! Not to be an internet armchair expert but maybe if you did the fullers while the whole blade was flat, before the bevels, you could have clamped the whole blade down to your table or to a fixture plate to get it more rigid and avoid some chatter? I've been trying to design some kind of machinists jack but with a top clamp, for situations like this.
Yup, I certainly should have done that. This build was actually a year ago and I’ve learned so much since then. 😉
Truly amazing.
Thanks for checking it out!
Awesome vid watched it like 3 times gotta ask where did you get the logo taped and what is it made of vinyl?
The logo is taped so it doesn’t move and then it’s electro etched. It’s a vinyl stencil from IMG Electromark. You just send them your logo image and they can create a page of stencils for you. Thanks for watching.
Tyrell, what a Great work! Huge congrats!!!
How much will cost a Spartan sword like this BUT in black and copper?
Thanks for taking a look. Sorry, I’m not taking custom orders right now.
Very beautiful - you are an excellent craftsman, but I would also make a guard from Damascus, and I would choose not copper / bronze, but silver or something steel-colored for the handle ...
Thanks for watching
Just wonderful.

Nice. That's a pretty wall sword. Good video.
Thanks for watching.
Wow, how can something so deadly , be so beautiful, art work
Thanks so much, Noel! I appreciate you watching!
@@TyrellKnifeworks I love your work,
Stupid question, have you ever forged from raw iron ore, I haven’t watched all your videos yet,
I love that process
@@blackietotheend no, I’ve never done any bloom or crucible steel. You need a coal furnace for the latter and the former is a massive project I’ve no interest in.
@@TyrellKnifeworks stick to what suits you, it’s just your work is so good, it would be some achievement to do it from scrap,
I live in Ireland, not far from old Viking ruins , and they found swords, shields and the likes ,
Even after all this time in the ground , still look amazing,
I wish I had your ability
@@blackietotheend you’ll hear this from a lot of smiths… the risk with reclaimed steel is that you really don’t know what it is do you don’t know how to heat treat it. If I’m selling something I want to stand behind it and know I produced the very best. If it was for a wall hanger or something just for me, sure, then it doesn’t matter. At sone point I’ll try a crucible steel build. 👍 Thanks for commenting and watching, I appreciate it.
