I made a mistake in the video, the sterling silver was $660, it was the huge piece of pure silver that was $1000. I've had a lot of people ask if I would do this with gold... I've already done a 24k gold build which you can checkout here: ua-cam.com/video/ztyqN03nriQ/v-deo.html. Let me know if you have other questions. Thanks for watching!
Do one with separate levels one base one silver one base one gold one base one copper one base and see if it comes out really cool or ???
Weapons are nice but I'm a lover 😂 could you make a Damascus wok? Is that even possible?
@@stuart207 I probably could, but I'm a knifemaker, not a pot maker.
Cảm ơn bạn vì video , tui rất yêu KATANA , tui người việt nam 🇻🇳 rất thích video bạn làm về dao
Nice item
It’s so strangely satisfying to watch a master craftsman and artist create something that obviously took hundreds of hours over multiple months condensed down to 30 or 40 wonderful minutes. Keep up the amazing work.
These do take quite awhile but are very rewarding in the end. Thanks for watching, Matthew.
Seriously underrated Talent.beautiful katana ser. 💯👍🇺🇸

@TyrellKnifeworks That is a bit lower than I would have guessed.
i second that! 10k is not enough :P
Stunning piece my friend. It's just beautiful. Congrats :)
Thanks so much! I appreciate you checking it out. I'm trying to get through all the participant videos before I move on to the judges so I haven't seen yours yet. Looking forward to it though since it's different... different is good! 😉

The contrast between the silver and Damascus came out great. Amazing work!
Thanks so much, James! The silver is sooo shiny, the pics don’t even do it justice. 😉
I love that you do a voice over to explain what you are doing for us who have no experience in this field. Beautiful piece of work.
I’m glad it’s helpful. Thanks for watching
The jet black and silver contrast is perfect! Great decision!
Gotta love black and silver! Thanks for watching.
The jet black edge to silver to damascus transition was absolutely sweet, and I'm glad you did the fuller, as the repetition of silver further up gave it fantastic visual balance.
Thanks! I do like the black against the silver. The fuller was a late addition for weight and balance but they always look good in these layered constructions. Thanks for watching!
Nice work. I just love creative people doing nice stuff. TY for using both measurement systems. Greetings from Germany.
Thank you! Cheers!
I'd always been a HUGE fan of the copper but this is on a new level! It looks great. The sword came out really well though I am not a fan of the fuller. I am busy with a mod for Cyberpunk 2077, creating a black katana with a copper line through the blade. Because you were the inspiration I want to call it the Tyrell katana.
Ah, that’s cool! Thanks for watching!
Works as an homage to Bladerunner too. I also loved the copper damascus, but this is also stunning work.
That's pretty badass, lolz. Hope it comes out great!
I have been recommending several knife makers to make a silver pattern welded blade for a long time, because Silver is my favorite precious metal. I don't know if you are the first UA-camr knife maker to make one, but you're the first one I have seen make one successfully. Even if you had some melt out it makes no real difference because irregularity is the name of the game for pattern welding blades. Every part of this build is beautiful and for you to build and wrap the handle according to traditional Katana making in Japan, makes this build so beautiful, that I am struggling to find words that are proper. You did a fantastic job sir, as is always the case with your builds. Thanks for sharing, and I must add, that your build, even though you are a judge, will act as an example for other knife makers to follow. I think that your work is going to be one of the best in the challenge. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks so much! I really appreciate the comments and most of all you watching! These challenges are meant to push people’s comfort zones, including my own. Thanks for watching!
Sir, you are the best!!! Your skill and knowledge are incredible.
Thank you for showing us your amazing work!!!
Thanks so much! I appreciate you taking a look!
I think out of all your projects I've watched over the years, definitely the most ambitious in terms of that 'risk factor' of having it all come together in the end. Somehow, it worked so well done you!
Thanks so much, Kris! I appreciate you following the channel. 🙏
Close second. The gold sword takes the cake.
I was fortunate enough to be able to see the work of art for myself at Blade West last weekend. Denis is totally correct in saying pictures and video does not do this blade any justice, you have to see it in person. Denis it was a pleasure again meeting you again!!!!
Thanks so much, Randall! It was great talking with you.
Wow! Just wow. Prettiest blade I’ve ever seen get made!
Thanks for checking it out!
Having never made a sword or a knife; your channel is a genuine inspiration ! I am looking to begin my own knife making education soon and your videos are so helpful in this regard ! This sword is a work of art and you are a genuine craftsman !!! Such a beautiful creation !!

@@TyrellKnifeworks Will definitely watch those to get my head around it as there is a lot to learn ! Thanks for your videos
I love seeing the blade of the katana being straighten❤
Thanks for checking out this build.
I'm glad you opted for adding the fuller. A technical decision that ended up being probably the most striking aesthetic characteristic of the blade.
I agree! It was for technical reasons to lighten the blade and balance but fullers always look very cool with these layered constructions! Thanks for watching!
Your attention to detail is exquisite. You make an excellent role model for the bladesmith community.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that! ❤️
Dude, anyone telling YOU how to do something needs to think a bit more about what you are trying to accomplish. I think you got it figured out. 👍🏻
Ha, well everyone has an opinion they want to “share”, particularly on UA-cam. 🤣. Thanks for watching!
Nah... the Japanese wouldn't agree with you. This ain't katana.
What is it then ?@lionparcelpalagan7515
Talking technically speaking, the only thing brother did wrong here is work cold steel and he did that once which is fine. This is the second most beautiful katana I’ve ever seen. The most beautiful one is his copper damascus one
I think you need to make your self a sandwich
the blade has something of primal and mystical in the lines of the damascus. I like the prevailing of the black on the silver too. It's a masterpiece in every part
Thanks so much! I appreciate you checking it out. ❤️
Love watching these videos. The uploader often gives close up footage whereby can actually see more detail of whats happening during the processes, and gives a bit of explanations so you're not left with having to wonder about a whole lot. Oh and there's NO STUPID MUSIC! Thank you!
Thanks for checking out this build! I’ve learned long ago that people prefer the machine noises and narration over music. 😉
Absolutely beautiful sword. Complex and simple all in one design. Mastery of your craft.
Thanks so much! I appreciate you taking g a look
Sweet sword. My favorite part is the fuller and how it makes those little splotches of silver come out. It brings a whole different asthetic to the whole piece. Great work.
Thanks, JP! I’ll be checking out the other builds tonight when I get more time.
Phenomenal work as always, sir! Love that silver in there; next level.
Thanks, James! I’ll be watching the other builds soon when I get some time. 🙏
I really love this silver and carbon steel katana you forged, and in the style you did, it is while still staying traditional. Beautiful work, and around my birthday no less last year. I love the copper cumai one you forged as well. But I am looking into swords and daggers I can buy online. But no one seems to have what I want. So I thought I'd ask you. First off. I'm pagan. Second, silver is very powerful, wards off evil, and is a very powerful conductor. Third, carbon steel has negative magnetic/conductive properties and stays sharp for a while. Fourth, I love fossils and desire blue and black opalized hardwood from Indonesia for a handle material that includes fluting with twisted silver islay in the flutes. And fifth. While I may not be ready to purchase and won't be for a while because I'm dirt poor at the moment, I would love both a parrying main goche dagger and a swept hilt rapier in the stile I just described similar to this katana. I prefer double-edged blades over single with a stabbing 7 I was wondering, though, it may be challenging if you could possibly make such weapons. my birthday is coming up, and I'm not asking for anything quite, yep. You actually may not be willing to take such a product on. But I'm asking if you can or think you could . So. Can you?
First time reccomended your channel and oh my god this is amazing. Just a beautiful sword... wow. Just wow.
Thanks so much! Welcome to the channel, I appreciate you watching.
This really just looks incredible. If you don't already, you should display the silver, copper, and gold katanas together like some sort of olympic medals.
These all get sold. This one has been at its new home since Nov. thanks for watching.
HE'S DONE IT AGAIN! I absolutely adored your Copper Damascus Katana, and Silver is my favorite metal. Love to see this. You are a master at work, and it shows!

This katana turned out fantastic! It's got a modern look to it, while keeping the overall traditional look! Really great job! Very classy! 🤔😁👍
Thanks so much, Michael! I appreciate you watching.
As always you're work is very impressive. A magnificent sword with the purity of silver to slay evil spirits. Whoever owns this spiritual weapon will not only possess a great blade but will also be protected from being possessed themselves while warding off all other demons that lurk in the darkness🙏🏻

Dont worry about those who have to much time on thier hands and find all they can do is criticise or complain, i for one absolutely love watching you videos, you inspired me to book a holiday retreat next year to introduce me to forging, im attempting a Kukri, i served in the British army along with some Gurkha signals, i thought it a good tribute to such excellent soldiers, you sir are part of me making this move.
That’s great, Dave! I appreciate anyone getting into the craft. Thank you for your service, and for watching.

What an amazing piece of art coming to life! Well narrated and filmed (I wouldn't have minded watching the scabbard come to life too!). Amazing work all the way, as far as I'm concerned!
Thank you very much! I was at the point of needing to get the build done in time so I opted not to show the saya construction. In my copper damascus katana I did the whole saya build so you can check that one out. Thanks for watching!
I don't usually comment on maker videos, but not only was the construction process very interesting... but, my goodness, the final product is stunning. The black damascus contrasted so well with the silver, the bright ground edge, and the other silver pieces. Beautiful craftsmanship.
Thanks for checking out this build, Paul!
At first I was confused by the silver in the damascus pattern, but after seeing I'm believing. A fine blade you've forged!

If there are any fantasy or occult nerds Out there, they would really see this weapon is an anti-vampire or anti-werewolf weapon
Yup, many have said the same. Thanks for checking it out!
if silver is the moon, you should create a sun thats made of gold and these 2 will become a great twins
I’ve done a 24k gold Damascus build already, though not a sword. It is very cost prohibitive to do something like a sword I’m afraid. Thanks for watching.
Would brass work?
@@TyrellKnifeworksCould use high-quality bronze. Polished enough it looks a lot like gold, and it can be work-hardened to be a lot tougher than you’d expect.
You are awesome, good sir! I watch other forging channels that don't talk, so I never know the names of some of the things they are doing. Your wisdom throughout the whole video adds much needed value, so thank you!
Thank you very much! I’m glad you found it interesting and educational. 👍
@@TyrellKnifeworks Definitely! I mostly watch stuff like this for relaxation, but since you educate us, it's an added bonus!
Absolutely insane piece. I would love to own something like this one day. Only question, why didn't you use the giant emperor node on the stringray skin? It's generally considered very desirable, and you had a nice one on that piece of skin. Regardless, it's wild the level of skill and talent that went into this project.
Because this stingray skin is white, that node isn’t very visible, like it is on a black one, so I didn’t bother. I’ll use it on another project. Thanks for watching.
Simply amazing craftsmanship!!! I wonder if this can also be made with red gold instead of silver.....I believe the red gold - black steel contrast would look incredible!!!!
I’ve done this with 24k gold but “red” gold has a lower melting point. I think it’s about the same as silver though so it’s probably possible. Thanks for watching.
What a beautiful peace. Someone is going to have a nice addition to their collection.
Thanks for checking it out, William!
I love the challenges you give yourself to increase your skill. Simply Beautiful.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking a look.

Good golly, that's beautiful... That's an heirloom piece, right there! Seriously, that thing deserves a spot in a good fantasy movie!
Well I'm open to any movie studios contacting me for a commission. 😉. Thanks for watching!
@TyrellKnifeworks I actually sketched some concept art of the kind of character that would wield it, I was that enamored... it would look SOOOO good in something styled after neo noir- think Sin City meets The Last Samurai with a dash of Phantom of the Opera.
Unfortunately, I'm just a guy that got medically retired from the military, not a film producer... I don't think my VA check could cover a commission, much *LESS* financing a film 😅😥🤦♂️🤷♂️
I'm always amazed by how just "a lil" pressing and heat holds 5 layers out of 2 different materials together
Yup! The bond is extremely strong as well. Thanks for watching.

Ok I wish I had this sword… it is so beautiful, and as someone who appreciates the time and effort of the art of making swords, katanas specifically, this was so well made despite not making it 100% traditionally. Breathtaking!!!!! I can't believe anyone would have the nerve to criticize any of your methods. 😮
Well the trolls know no bounds. 😉. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely beautiful, and you should be so proud to have such skills. We've all seen the traditional methods of Japanese katana forging, and it surely makes even you appreciate the time and craftsmanship that was required back then to produce such works of art. From a pure metallurgy standpoint, how do these modern methods stack up against the ancient swords as far as strength, sharpness, craftsmanship, etc? From using their rare tamahagane steel forging, to the clays, rolling the billet in traditional straw, carbon hardening, multiple folds, etc. etc. I'm sure they would have appreciated the hydraulic press, electric tempering ovens, but do you think their entire process and exactness produced a better sword than can be made even today? Thanks again for your astounding work!
What the Japanese excel at is craftsmanship and effort. Tamahagane is actually far inferior to today’s modern steel. It was “folded” so many times to remove the rampant impurities. Also, it wasn’t rare, just time consuming for that age. The steel coming out of the Middle East and India at that time was leagues ahead. The Japanese certainly did the best with what they had at the time. Thanks for watching.
My god THATS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
And that fuller patter is INSANEEED
Thanks for tuning in!

The way the gold shows in profile on the false edge is a really nice touch. Not a personal fan of the shape of the blade but for the purpose of bringing out the gold it was a fine choice. Well done sir!
