    Look at that machine go!!!! Excellent agitation, great rollover action... Your clothes got really clean in only approx 25 to 30 minutes... Not over an hour, not clean, and barley damp, in the H E Crap today...

      @@BradleyCaban Right, I'm talking about the really modern H E machines.
      The early ones actually weren't half bad,
      the newer ones just seem to be a real joke.

      Back at a time when stuff broke you called the repair man even when it was 18 years old and got it fixed and kept going until something major just quit like your tv would’ve have been treated in 1964!

      A year after John F. Kennedy's death and this 60-year-old democrat still does what the modern Republican washers can't even come close to doing.

    My grandmother had that exact same model except with the black agitator and the stainless steel hold down cap with the stainless steel wash tub. I’m not sure but that agitator looks to be from a newer era maybe 70’s I don’t know. But having the correct cap fitted on there you could use the lint filter or fabric softener options.
    But my grandmothers ran for 20 years for her and it moved on when the kitchen was outdated & remodeled.
    She purchased a Maytag which lasted the rest of her 89 year life.
    This era of speed queen is was prone to breakdowns with the solenoid setup and they would burn out and she was tired of that plus parts and independent in home service was getting scarce by 1985.
    A lot of those lid switches where broken when I serviced them. Didn’t fix them. Later solenoid machines did not keep the motor running constantly. But that was typical of many manufacturers to do that even with dishwashers that kept motors going though the whole cycle. Also that tub bearing sounds rough though.
    Enjoy seeing this old gal still kicking. All the noises bring back fond memories of growing up with speed queens in the family. My own mother also had two sets in her life time of the MaGraw Edison SQ’s 👍👍

      Gsohoover no they weren’t. But they were designed to be serviced and keep going! Much like old TV’s were back in the day. They came to your house and fixed or serviced your SQ the same way back then. That wasn’t as easy with other brands & designs. If you wanted virtually no trouble ever back in the day you bought a Maytag in the 50’s and 60’s 1970’s era Lol lol

    The funny thing is, is that this 1964 agitates better than these 2019 models lol. They just don't make things like they used to which is why I also have vintage appliances. You earned a new subbie!

      Yes the turnover in this machine is fantastic and will not be replicated any time soon . But Mrs. ,you and I have the same machine. If you inspect the second tub of this pre 70s washer you would not trade your 2017. This machine however serve’s as a testament to speed’s quality and what we should hope for. I do think this washer is better than ours by a very narrow margin. I’m wondering if it’s still running in 2022.

    Look at that role over action.. it's constant.. everything is getting the best wash.. and in a good amount of water too. Speedqueen Maytag Whirlpool Kenmore old school center post agitators were the best.. They got your close clean and stains out the first time.. and they used a good amount of water to help.. Plus it only took about thirty minutes per load... Not this H.E. Crap today.. They barely get your close wet.. the clothes are NOT cleaned properly and the stains ate still on your clothes.. and it takes way to long to wash a load...If I was in the market for a new washer, I'd buy a refurbished old school top load center post agitator washer... They were built to last... Today you're lucky to get seven years out of the crap machines they are selling and they are way to expensive... Did I say enough !!?

    • @jamesorsby7553
      @jamesorsby7553 4 роки тому

      Hell, it takes the new HE crap 30 minutes to figure out how "little" water to put in the washer. Then it takes another hour or so before the cycle ends. One day, someone's gotta sit me down and explain how using an hour and a half worth of electricity is more "efficient" than using 30-40 minutes worth. It's a damn joke.

      @@jamesorsby7553 I know... H.E Washers waste so much time... Balancing, sensing.. A freaken hour just to wash towels.. Back in the DAY, washer took 25 to 30 minutes, and then into the dryer... I miss that..
