    Last christmas, I bought my parents a speed queen TC5000 series as a gift. Just about a year later, it's still working perfectly

    You didn’t even need to take a bath if had one of these in your laundry room. You could practically take a shower while it washes your clothes.
    All you had to do is start it up, put your soap in, put your clothes in, and stand right in front of it.
    You and your clothes are done at the same time.
    These old Speed Queens were some of the splashiest washers around back then.
    My great grandmother had one of these after her 1960’s Philco conked out.

    This is awesome, they now try to do this with 2 inches of water and no agitator.

    Long pause between wash/rinse and spin. So much for speed...😀
    Such a quality item. Very nice. Chuck Connors touted Speed Queen machines for their TOUGH stainless steel tubs and transmissions in the US around that time.

      Yes the reversing motor era.
      Without the solenoid mode shifter they lost their shift modes on the fly. So yeah it was a bit slower in that regard.

    C'est formidable. early washers were so wonderfyl and beautiful with their incredible colours ! Speed Queen washers were the best. Now, I'm afraid only TC5 is OK

      The turnover in the Speed Queen TC3 (such as the one that Sharkie626 has) is a little bit better than the TC5 because the TC3’s tubs are stationary as opposed to the tubs of the TC5 or TRC or whatever these 2019-current Speed Queen top loaders are called as those wash similarly to the Frigidaire Gallery top loaders from circa 2006

    Those were some awesome washers. They had one tiny flaw. If you had poor water pressure, they didn't with enough water.

    What's the advantage solid, non perforated tubs? Less expensive to produce?🤔

    • @canadianwashercollector3095
      @canadianwashercollector3095  5 місяців тому +1

      I believe that would be a factor yes. If I remember correctly solid tub Speed Queen washers were marketed for their durability compared to other washers of the time.

    Can't beat these older automatic washers. Today's machines should be made that way. I know unfortunately the almighty dollar matters these days. Corporate greed at its finest.

    I notice on the lid instructions the list of colors red/rouge, yellow/jaune, and green/vert. What do they refer to?

    • @canadianwashercollector3095
      @canadianwashercollector3095  2 роки тому +1

      They refer to indicator lights that would’ve been installed on commercial Speed Queen washers to indicate whether it was operating and safe to put your hands in the tub…red meant it was in operation and the lid should be kept closed, yellow meant it was rinsing and was time to add fabric softener, and green meant the machine was done or not in use and safe to unload or load your laundry.

    I don't see a water level setting. Did I miss it somehow? Thanks.

    • @canadianwashercollector3095
      @canadianwashercollector3095  2 роки тому

      On this machine they’re are water level increments that you turn to for different water levels depending on which cycle cycles you pick (I.E. Normal or Permanent Press)
      The two knobs are for agitation speeds, (Normal/Fast for regular fabrics and Gentle/Slow for delicate fabrics) and water temperature. Hope this helps.

    • @websurfin9575

      The water level selection on this washer was built into the timer.... believe it or not.
